One of my fav breweries! I like ordering a small serving and trying several different beers that way. You can buy packs of your fav beers to go. The Chasing Ghosts DIPA is one of the best beers. They have great flavored dark ones as well.

Looking for some stout beer? They have several. Tried the chocolate banana imperial stout and it was wonderful. The 825 State is their easy drinking stout and is wonderful as well.

Great staff, great beer, dog friendly ! Will definitely come again Jenny (I believe was the beer tenders name) she was very knowledgeable, offered great suggestions, and had a great personality. We love their double IPA, lucha libre stout, their pineapple sour, imperial stout. Truly everything we had was amazing, there was not a beer we had that we did not enjoy. I’m excited for their expansion of their taproom along with the addition of on draft options!

Very impressive selection of available craft beer styles to try from this brewery. Utah has weird beer percentage serving rules, so if something has a higher ABV then it's poured from a bottle. This actually allows you to try some amazing sours or barred aged beers they offer that are not on tap. The service area is small, but quaint with great service that you want from a local business. Loved our time here and it's definitely worth a stop in if you are visiting the Salt Lake City area.

Wow, such a wonderful experience at Epic Brewing last week. Fantastic beer, a welcoming vibe and such genuine care by the staff. Amanda and Tristan are the rock star beertenders who set the tone to turn former strangers at the bar into friends in a very short time. I love this place and will be back often!

I spent a weekend in Salt Lake City and this was the best brewery I visited! The beers were so tasty and flavorful, and they had a large selection. I’m a wheat beer fan and this was the closest I got in the five breweries I visited. Also friendly and informative staff! Only thing I wished they had (other than a hefe) was a food cart or some more substantial food items.

First thing PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BRING BACK the blueberry cream Ale! It's officially my favorite beer of all time.. please! While I Hope Epic hears my desperate plea... It's my sacred day off ☀️, the stars have aligned for the NFL Draft 🍻, and yours truly is hosting a fiesta of football and flavor, headlined by my legendary bacon-wrapped jalapeno hot dogs 🌭🌶️🥓. Naturally, I needed the best beer to wash down those spicy bad boys, and let me tell you, Epic did not disappoint. Epic Brewery is by far the best in the Salt lake area! We were stationed in Utah for almost 6 years and being away has made me realize how much I miss my epic brewery beers!!! Their stouts and porters are by far the best I've ever had. We have gone in for tastings and beers and the vibe is always chill and welcoming. Whether you're visiting or a local, you won't be disappointed.

Small place and parking lot is a little tight. I like that you can order taster sizes. I tried two of their ipas that were pretty tasty. Service was pretty friendly.

The server on duty was friendly, and she had a bubbly personality. They have a decent selection. The beer was good. If you're in the area, give them a try. Be sure to take a look at all the stickers on the wall.

If you search for best brewerys is Salt Lake you'll find many great options, but for some reason you won't see the best one on many lists - Epic Brewing. This is a tap room that serves primarily half pints and tasters served directly from bottles. Other breweries might have more space, but simply put, there's better beer here. The variety of the Son of Baptist stout is the star. Any variety of that stout is phenomenal. The other extensive choices are also very good. There are two gender neutral restrooms and parking on two sides of the building plus street.

Maybe we're just tourist who didn't understand Utah alcohol laws or something. But this brewery was odd. They technically don't have flights, and can only serve you 2 small tasters, per person. We got 4 total but they were all poured out of a can and were semi warm. Also noticed one of the beers we ordered was then served to a different customer out of the same can, 20 minutes later. Call me bias but warm beer isn't a vibe. Very small place too. Not much seating at all. They had some merch, no stickers. Lots of beer to go though.

Utah law requires anything over 5% to be poured directly from a bottle or can. I never even saw a tap at Epic. Despite having a decent national reach, Epic's tasting room is relatively small - I counted 20 seats, but it adds to the charm. Most options come in either 2 oz or 6 oz and you can only have two glasses served to you at one time (another Utah law). The service is friendly and quick and I never found myself with a glass that wasn't filled or at least offered. Impressive menu with a great selection of styles, most notably: an entire page of barrel-aged Baptist stouts. Unfortunately for me, I didn't check a bag in this trip because they have quite an impressive to-go case, full of just about everything on the menu.

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Still great, after all these years. I was last here in 2014, and had a great time. It's one of the OG breweries in SLC and I was glad to see that they haven't lost their touch. They no longer have food--just pretzels--but you can get stuff delivered or bring it in. We opted to get a pretzel with our beers and it was delightful! Here are the beers we tried: In the rye - rich, flavorful Brainless on peaches - subtle peach, crisp Mid mountain mild - smooth, mildly malty Double skull dopplebock Brainless Belgian Golden Ale Cross fever Amber Ale All very good; notice I don't have notes for the last three beers--was enjoying the beers too much and chatting with the personable bartenders. Would definitely visit again the next time I'm in SLC!

We've had epic brewery in Denver and love their beer on tap! We were craving a fresh brew and saw epic and decided to check them out. Sadly they don't serve beer on tap or their whole bottles. We had a couple of their 2oz, we ordered a pretzel since that's all they offer food wise, and we never got the pretzel, the bar tender was struggling and kept telling the tables to go up to the bar to place their order, needless to say we wrapped up our tab really quick!

This was a quick stop in to haul some EPIC beers back to Texas. I have had Epic many times before and never been disappointed. I am going to age them for a while so I can't give a whole lot of detail but I'm a dark beer enthusiast, and know whatever sounds good to you while choosing, you will like!

It has come to my attention that the Epic Brewing location that was in Denver closed. While very sad to hear the unfortunate news the SLC location remains open. The brewery was originally from Salt Lake City and from what I can only speculate opened a taproom in Denver due to less strict liquor laws in Colorado than Denver. But truth be told last summer when I stopped in Salt Lake on the way to my destination and on the way home I hit several breweries and it was a relatively normal brewery experiences in the city as anywhere else. Sure, there are some oddball things like beer on tap can only be up to a certain ABV, you can always count on being carded as soon as you walk in a taproom and you can't look at merchandise when drinking your beer. It IS still Utah but seems like it has caught up with other states in knowing they could make some money with taprooms that actually have beer on tap. Well with all that said I still recommend Epic and to go to their taproom if you can. It doesn't really matter if the ABV is low with what they have on tap because any beer you get from them will be superb. But on the other hand I do like recommend getting beer from their Big Bad Baptist series. We have had several beers from this series over the years and always walk away very impressed. The latest from this series was their Orange Stick. Yes, very similar to the candy orange sticks but only emphasizing on the best parts of it. With a deep chocolate flavor along with maltiness and coffee followed by the orange towards the end this Imperial Stout is expertly made like all of their beers. You can also find the Big Bad Baptist series and their other beers at different stores as well as they bottle and can also. I wouldn't necessarily count run of the mill grocery stores to carry their products but to devote your attention more towards bottle shops or liquor stores that carry more higher end beer like Total Wine and Beverage as an example or to check their taproom for availability if you are in the area.

Stumbled upon this place from a google search because I like beer. Visited and was amazed as they had so many stouts! I did the tour which was informative Ave tasting which was great. Must try ! Looking forward to buying back home.

We came with a decently sized group so the size of this location did not fit out needs. With that said the employees were great. The drinks were even better. I would recommend the smoked drinks by far over anything else. They were so tasty and they were always served so quick. So come with only a handful of people or make sure you go on off times.

One of my favorite spots to drink in Utah! Epic Brewing brews probably one of the best beers in the country. I love the beer here and am surprised they have beer like this in Utah. Definitely stop by and try their Super IPA Me or Chasing Ghost, two of my favorites! Go quench your thirst!

10/10 This place makes otherworldly good beer. I can't recommend them enough. If you like stouts, you can't go wrong with any of the Big Bad Baptist line, it's absolutely my favorite all-time beer. (They have plenty of great non-stout options as well) We got in late, but Tristan did an incredible job taking care of us, and answering our many many questions. Great cozy and welcoming environment. Next time we're in town, this will be on our itinerary without a doubt. I really can't recommend it enough.

Claire was excellent with recommendations. I really enjoyed the lager and Los locos Mexican lager. Escape to Colorado, spiral jetty and rino all got thumbs up from the husband. A must stop while in SLC.

I come here for one person and one person only. The name is Claire. She is the most knowledgeable, polite, fun and outgoing bartender. The beer here is also super funky and creative.

Great little gem! Lots of big, flavorful brews. Plenty of barrel aged beers and varieties built off their core beers. My wife and I both really enjoyed the Chasing Ghosts DIPA.

There's gluten free beer here if you were wondering! It's called the "glutenator" that's made with brown rice, sweet potatoes and honey! Definitely not the normal beer that you'd normally get but it's a great substitute! I typically stick with their brainless or IPAs as my go to. You can sample 2oz of beer for under a dollar. You can only have a couple of samples in front of you due to our laws out here. The reason for the 4 star and not a 5 was because of the miscommunication between workers. When we came in at 6:50pm, we were told that they stop serving at 7pm, but we can stay til 8pm. The bartender seemed a little agitated to leave earlier and told us that they are closed at 7pm even after the other employee told us 8pm. Seemed a little off so we left around 715pm to prevent him from staying longer.

Very fun find. I did not realize this was the original Epic brewery. Matt was awesome. I got to try some fantastic dark beers. Cheap too. The. i spent a bunch on hoodies and bottles of beer. I was very happy. Cheers!

I came to Salt Lake City to visit a friend and this is the first place they took me to! It's a small little tasting room but we managed to score three seats at the bar. This is where I learned that you're not allowed to have beer flights in Utah and you can only try two beer samples at a time. I also found out that beers from the tap can't be stronger than 4%, but Epic gets around that by pouring your beer from a bottle. I got busy sampling five of their beers while my friends knocked back a glass or three, all the while we munched on the meat and cheese board. Beers: Big Bad Baptista, Mild Mountain Ale, Brainless fruit something?, Intermountain Wheat, and 825 State Stout. I enjoyed our visit here and Zak? our bartender was personable and did a good job balancing everyone's order. It was fun to find out that the people sitting next to me were originally from Northeast Ohio just like me! I took off one star because I did not find a beer that I loved, but I still think this is a great spot that everyone should check out! Chill atmosphere, good service, plenty of beers to try, and a little food selection if you feel peckish.

Had a great experience here. The staff is so friendly and treats you like regulars. They didn't have beer on tap, but you could choose from a huge selection of bottles and purchase in varying sizes pours. The taproom is small, so minimal seating available. If you can't stay and hang definitely take some of their beer to go and try it.

The place is small but packs a punch. We made a stop and it was pretty empty around 7:30. Andrew calmed our evening after a day of driving. He was pleasant to talk to and worked through conversation and the menu of amazing beers. We tried so many of their beers and learned a little more about Utah state. With a few refrigerators of beer to go and an ever changing beer list, this place is definitely a place to go while in town. Cheers!

Unexpected that I review a brewery? Ya, maybe. I don't drink so there are more obvious choices. But I do think there is some real value in talking about the non-food component here. With full acknowledgment that beer here comes first, I can't complain about the food one bit. This, friends, is the tapless tap room and if you're the DD or the alcohol-free one in your group, you're going to be A-OK. Sandwiches, paninis, and it ain't fancy. But it's not some sliced bread sack lunch, they really are trying to do a decent accompaniment to the brews. I recently had the Cuban and while again, it's not fancy, it would really make a nice companion to the beers. I won't get into the technical details of the liquor laws, but you also get an added bonus--because of the kind of license they have, they have to have food sales high enough to "balance" their alcohol sales. That means you can get a small flight of samples (not simultaneously served... you know what? We're too far into the weeds) and your samples are going to be really cheap. If we're talking about the brewery, it is indeed a really small space, comparatively speaking. If we're speaking specifically about the tap room here, it's only got a handful of seats, so that's another bonus in the food department: you get your food quick as they want to turn those seats around. This may be a niche review from a dry guy's perspective, but from everything the drinking crowd tells me, Epic has got it going on. They're high point beers, which means you should buckle up. They do have a small shop here where you can get their stuff straight from the brewer. Plus, everyone was super nice and they seem to really love the local scene.

Went to a few breweries in the SLC area with my cousin. Epic Brewery was our second stop of the day. Arrived mid afternoon. Found the last open parking stall and walked right in. Epic Brewing is one of the first strong beer micro breweries in Salt Lake City. They take pride in making their beer in small batches. Also they serve 30 plus different kinds of beers making them able to support everyone's palate. Beer sizes: 2 oz sampler, 11 oz, 16 oz, 22oz. Your stronger beers- 2oz & 11oz. On the menu for me: +Cross fever amber- 11 oz. $3. Caramel malt, light and smooth + Brainless raspberries- 2oz $0.90. Sweet and fruity. I like the raspberry flavor. + Sour Apple Saison- 2oz $0.90. Tart & sour. Love it! + Big Bad Baptista- 2 oz A strong Imperial Stout with Mexican flavors. Like adding a lil horchata. Loved it so much I took a bottle home. Bartenders- very friendly and knowledgeable. Totally dig their music selection. Rock and metal kind of day. Other: 1. Beers are served from the bottles. 2. Brewery Is split in two sections: To go bottle section & bar section. 3. Food available here. Sandwiches, Brats and snack food. We were full from lunch so only had enough belly room for beer lol. For the quality, beer per $, chill/ talk story atmosphere, and huge variety Epic Brewing lives up to it's name. Can't wait till the next time I'm in the SLC area to visit.

Very quick visit, need to return. They have an interesting concept. It is a non-tap tap house! They open bottles vs having draft beers. I was told this is there first location. Its very small and cozy. Service was good. Again...it was a quick sneak in and try a few beers type of visit!

Great downtown location. Took an Uber here. Not much parking available but there is a bike rack! We were ID'd at the door. Upon entry, we were greeted by the bar tender. They explained to come up to the bar to order. We grabbed a high top and reviewed the menu. Rules are on the back. Importantly- you must order food with your alcohol. Something to do with a restaurant license instead of a liquor license ?!?! Either way, we ordered the meats and cheese plate and then had sample after sample of beer. You can only have two at a time, but the samples are small- 2oz. First sample- imperial stout. Typical stout. Good. Second sample - big bag baptista. Fantastic! Enjoyed the spices. My favorite of the day. Third sample - quadruple barrel baptista. Not as good as the one before, but still very good. fourth sample- SOB imperial coffee stout. SOB does not stand for son of a B, or shortness of breath for you medical people. It stands for son of baptista haha. Typical coffee stout, very good. Fifth - 825, chocolatey. Not my favorite. Sixth/ mid mountain mild. Definitely mild. A beer you can drink all day long. Seven- brainless golden. Tasty. Enjoyed. Probably should've started with the lighter beers first. But hey, I like dark beer! Meats and cheeses were delicious. No utensils provided so that was interesting. It's hard to cut into Brie with a cracker. Staff was friendly. Checked out their merch afterward. Cool shirts. Growlers to go! Enjoyed this experience of Utah beer.

I walked here to get some of the best beer in town. It was well worth the walk. I had the 2oz. pours and they were plenty. The staff there went above and beyond to make sure that this tourist was well taken care of. I even snagged some beers to take back with me.

We had such a great time at Epic Brewing Company. They have 2 oz tasters (max 2 per person at any time) and sammies. We tasted 6 beers each and shared a grilled cheese and tomato sandwich, which was a perfect way to experience Epic Brewing. The service staff were fun and chatty, and the atmosphere was casual and chill. The bar is the best place to sit as you can get to know your neighbors. Highly recommend!

I love their "Brainless" line of beer. Powerful, full bodied, and potent (none of the 3.2% junk)! They always have someone at the ready to help with your purchases, give suggestions where needed, and of course, help you get your purchase boxed up and ready to go. If you haven't stopped in, definitely give these Epic guys a try!

This place is amazing. Incredible beer menu. Sours, barrel aged sours, stouts, Belgian ales, so many choices. They let you try everything with 2 oz pours. Nice little bar area. Nice beer tender as well. Yummy

Coming from Denver I have pretty high standards for cool breweries and tap rooms so this one in SLC was extra disappointing. Beer was good, but the service was forgetful, slow, and lacked accountability. A tiny space that lacks any charm & warmth

I literally just left this brewery and although very small pace I really loved it! Andrew has such an amazing energy. He should own part of the brewery because he represents it well. He knows so much about the beers that honestly I would buy a lot of the beers but I live in LA so I can't. Anyway I got a meat board that was not only cute but very tasty. We got a few of the beers which I've posted pic of that are so delicious. This place is a must if you're visiting!

Came in here yesterday. They have seating for 22 people and the bar is run by an awesome dude named Sean who knows his beer. The best part about this place is they every beer is a bottle poor so you are not constrained by Utah's crazy 4% abv law.

Finding quality craft beer in Utah isn't always an easy task. Fortunately, there is Epic Brewing. The small tap room is tucked away in the southern end of Salt Lake City and has just enough off street parking for visitors. The selection here is outstanding and they are very generous about opening a bottle even for a small 2 oz pour. I highly recommend this small pour route so you sample many of the outstanding beers available. This is a great way to try before you buy.

On our recent ski trip to Salt Lake City, we were looking for some breweries to visit and found Epic Brewing on yelp. Service was friendly and some of the beer we tasted were very good, but we thought it was odd that a brewery doesn't have any beer on tap... they only have bottles. Some of the beers we tasted were rather flat (because you know, it must have been a while since they opened those bottles . . . ) and all of them could have used better refrigeration. We went to another brewery nearby (also found on yelp) but their beers were not good (although they do have all beers on tap). Maybe finding a good brewery in SLC is a challenge.

I decided I wanted to come here for a beer. I have heard good things about the place and had the opportunity to check it out as I was in town. The tap room is small with seats for less than 10 people. The server was a wonderful chap who is very knowledgeable about the beers. Much to my chagrin, you had to order an entree in order to purchase a beer. I decided to order the $6 grilled cheese which I would eventually donate to the bartender. I'm sure the grill cheese would have been fine, but I already had dinner plans and did not want to have it for an appetizer. I tried a couple of the ipas which were quite delicious. Full of body and flavor, they can compete with the IPA from anywhere. I enjoyed this Brewery, but was just a little disappointed that you had to order food in order to have a beer. But I guess that's the rules in Utah. TIP: you have to order an entree to get beer.

Super good dark beers. I mainly stuck to their Big Bad Baptist list where they had at least ten different varieties to try. The 2 oz. sample situation due to Utah alcohol laws turned out to be beneficial for me--I like to get flights and sample many different beers when I'm traveling, so the 2 oz. samples allowed me to effectively build my own Big Bad Baptist flight. It was a great spot, and I'll have to stop by next time I'm in town.

I probably should have read the reviews before coming here, because I legit had no idea what I was getting into, lol. I was lucky though and showed up when the taproom was empty, so I got the 411 from the bartender on how things go down here. All because of crazy Utah laws, you cannot stand in the taproom (there are only 6 seats), you have to order food (chips and a cup of soup don't count), you have to eat the food you order, and you can only have two 2oz samples or one sample and one glass at a time. As far as the beer and the food goes, it's all soooo good!!! It seemed like sample after sample, I kept finding a new favorite beer. They're all "high point beers", which mean they're over 3.2% ABV. And I had the Smokey Cubano sandwich, which is going to be one of those sandwiches I won't forget for a long time. During my hour and a half visit, I witnessed about a dozen other people come and go, which meant that the sole bartender (Kristi, who was awesome), had to manage pouring samples, cooking sandwiches, making salads, going back into the brewery to get fresh bottles, AND explain to patrons over and over that they have to eat, can't stand, etc. I have no idea how the bartenders manage all these tasks, and don't get annoyed with having to explain the ridiculous liquor laws until they're blue in the face. They only accept cash tips, I don't know why. If you don't have cash, you can purchase a beer and leave a note in the tip jar. You should definitely visit here, but with no more than 1, maybe 2, people, come hungry (so you don't get turned away for not intending to eat), and bring cash for a tip unless you want to tip $6+ bottles of beer.

Best Craft/Micro brewery I've been to in Salt Lake City. A little different in that everything is served from 22oz bottles. That's a good thing in Utah because you get full ABV for the style. Great selection of IPAs. They also have plenty of bottles to purchase and take with you and they are priced very fairly.

Very good beer with solid variety. The tasters range from $1 to $.50 which is eminently reasonable and you should taste many things there. Also, at least the day we were there, they were showing snowboarding videos on the TV which took me back to my middle school days watching skate videos. I think my favorite beer was the spiral jetty IPA. I'm kind of over fruity IPAs and ready to be punched in the mouth again. The Spiral Jetty punches.
