I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Épicerie Boulud this evening, and I must take a moment to highlight the incredible service provided by Josue. From the moment I sat down, he made us feel so welcome and attended to every detail with such warmth and professionalism. Not only was Josue incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, offering spot-on recommendations, but they did so with genuine enthusiasm that made us even more excited for the meal. Their timing was impeccable! Checking in at just the right moments without ever being intrusive. What really stood out, though, was the personal touch he brought to the evening. Josue remembered small details from our conversation, made thoughtful suggestions based on my preferences, and went above and beyond to ensure everyone had a perfect experience. It’s rare to find someone who can make you feel like you’re the only table that matters, even when the restaurant is busy, but Josue did just that. I can’t recommend Josue enough! He truly made my night memorable. If you’re lucky enough to have him as your server, you’re in for a fantastic dining experience. I will definitely be back, not just for the amazing food, but for the exceptional service!

I usually visit Épicerie Boulud for a quick bite and drink before continuing with my day. This time, however, after ordering my food and drink, I decided to stay for a wine and cheese board at the bar. The customer service was exceptional, with everyone behind the counter being incredibly pleasant. The pastries are delightful, and the French music playing in the background adds a wonderful touch, making you feel like you’ve been transported to France. My experience at the bar was truly memorable. The bartender, Joshue, was outstanding from start to finish. He kept my husband and me entertained with great conversation and laughter, and was both patient and accommodating. When we couldn’t decide on a wine, he provided excellent suggestions and even offered samples to help us choose. We will definitely be visiting more often. I highly recommend stopping by for some pastries especially the pudding cake and make sure to visit the bar for a splendid time.

Had a wine and cheeseboard outside in this beautiful weather. Such a cute little place with so many pastry options. Great service and really fast pace. They also have an adorable oyster bar with plenty of wine options. Thank you, Josue, for attending to us, we’ll definitely be back!

This was my first time at Boulud, this place is truly a hidden gem!!!! The atmosphere was beautiful, with an excellent wine selection too. The service from the bartender was on point and I appreciate Josue for making my experience that much better 11/10 – thank you!

Sophie and Josue were wonderful very charismatic, bringing great energy behind the bar. They both helped me with my wine and cheese selections. I love this spot; I’ve been coming here whenever I’m in the city, and it never disappoints. Thank you, Sophie and Josue, for your hospitality! I can’t wait to see you both again.

I had a lovely experience at Épicerie Boulud today, thanks to Josue. The recommendations and conversations were great, and the atmosphere was so relaxing. I visit New York often, and this was my first time here, let’s just say it won’t be my last. The cheeseboard display was beautiful, with excellent cheese choices. Came to this bakery because I wanted to try the viral muffin from the Olympics (thanks tik tok). Overall the vibe was really nice and felt European in some ways. They had a decent assortment for food, pastries, and snacks. The sandwich was pretty good. I’d give the muffin a 7.5/10, it was a little dry for me but still really good. The staff was also extremely nice! I will be back to try some other things on the menu. My only complaint is that I wish they sold bigger bottles of water 😂.

I love Épicerie Boulud and usually visit the World Trade Center location, but I had an equally wonderful experience at this one. After a long week, the bartender, Jose, made my day with his great sense of humor and delicious frosé. I also enjoyed some oysters, though I forgot to take pictures. This has become my new favorite spot, and I’ll definitely be back.

Great place to meet friends before heading over to Lincoln Center. They have an excellent choice of sandwiches and salads. And a long wine/drink list. They also have a nice little bar where you can sit and chat or you can people watch from a table near the window. There is no waiter service. You have to go up to the counter to order food. The attendants are friendly and quick.

When you walk into an elite chef's cafe and see packaged food in the reach-in cooler, you know you're in trouble. We skipped the pre-packed stuff and ordered a Cuban hot sandwich. SUPER salty. Inedible. Put it this way, we won't be hunting down his other locations.

I was hesitant about trying it given the lukewarm reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised. Service was efficient and friendly. You order at the counter and find a seat. Smallish inside, but they have heated outdoor cabanas that seat far more. The lattes are excellent, and reasonably priced, as are the pastries. Had the chocolate danish (pictured) as well as a chocolate croissant and a cinnamon scone. Went back the next day to have another croissant! Definitely will be returning.

Went here to pickup some hot chocolate and a cookie on Wed afternoon. The place is busy .The ambiance is nice like a good coffee shop. They have a bar counter,lot of hot food options along with the regular coffee,tea and pastries. The hot chocolate is okay,not a big fan of. Maman has better hot chocolate next block The flourless choc hazelnut cookie on the other hand was amazing.

Screams airport food court. $8 for a tiny (half-palm-sized) sandwich with a teaspoonfull of hummus and a few pickled veggies on it. And the sandwich is pre-made and self-served out of a cooler. The coffee is Lavazza. Not sure what the point of this place is other than it may be the only relatively quick place to grab food around Lincoln Center?

Pro: location (directly across from Lincoln Center), cleanliness Cons: pricy, espresso machine out of order, everything served to go Not a bad spot for a quick pastry or sandwich before a show, but tbh Breads Bakery is down the block and feels more reliable.

We had the cheese plate with 3 cheeses. It was good, but felt it was a little overpriced for the amount of food. They did have a free pitcher of ice water. The area itself is open and filled with sun in the afternoon. There's also outdoor dining. The food was good, but nothing to write home about. All-in-all, a good option for a chat with a friend.

Ordered the chicken sandwich. Chicken cutlet was inedible. Hard and impossible to chew and 90% breading. Unacceptable. Had to be as old as a rooster fossil. Complained and they replaced it with a new sandwich and fresher cutlet. Still, shame for serving something so horrible, especially for $16. Extra star added for remedying the situation and the friendliness of the workers.

I've been procrastinating writing this review because of how underwhelming the experience was. My partner and I were in the Central Park area and decided to go for a quick bite after a long walk. We decided to stop by here because why not? It's Daniel Boulud's place so it must be good. But it was ultimately a letdown. We ordered the breakfast sandwich, nicoise salad, ice latte with oat milk, and gazpacho, and MAYBE 1.5 of the items were good. The best item was the delicious breakfast sandwich, which included gruyère, bacon, and egg. The ice latte with oat milk was tasteless (there was neither a coffee taste nor oat milk taste), and it weirdly made my throat itchy (I've had plenty of lattes with oat milk and I've never had a reaction before). Taste-wise, the gazpacho was decent, but was an absurd price for such a small serving (it was more like a sample size). And the worst was the niçoise salad. It was probably the saddest salad I've ever seen and had: a block of gray dry tuna, half an egg, overcooked (and flavorless) green beans, and tasteless tomatoes. I don't think I would trouble myself with this location in the future.

I am staying cross the street at the hotel. I came here both days in the morning around 7:30 am! yesterday and today because i know the best croissant in Manhattan. Problem is workers! Both girls are not friendly. I said thank you after pick up my sandwich no response! They are rushing you and not smiling, literally looking at your face. Atmosphere is cold , quiet plus the unhappy workers. Doesn't look like you can start your day happy in this atmosphere. Sorry but i felt uncomfortable. I couldn't stay for coffee and have my sandwich there.

Great spot to get a hot drink and a yummy treat in between NYFF shows! You can't go wrong with any item here. On my last visit, I tried the chocolate pistachio pastry!

We came here for a light 'breakfast' at their bakery/cafe. Coffee was excellent...rich, robust flavor. Pain au Chocolat was quite good. We got two mini egg-cup/frittata type things. They were good, but were given to us barely warmed. We also got their 'avocado toast'. While it was on a beautiful piece of crusty, sourdough type bread, everything else about the 'avocado toast' was pretty bad. First off, it had an odd mix of toppings: avocado SPREAD (like something along the lines of 'Sabra' avocado spread...or something out of a squeeze tube...it was Not fresh avocado slices or chunks...); some slices of radish... OK that's fine...but then there were also ...snow peas/snap peas on top. Very strange. Neither of us liked the avocado toast.

I love going here. You get the taste of Boulud, but it's cheap enough to go everyday. Last time I had lunch here, I sat next to Rachel Maddow...then Lawrence O'Donnell showed up. Try the Cuban sandwich. It's amazing. And the best thing? It's close to my building.

I have been patronizing this business since it opened about a decade ago. Épicerie Boulud is that good! Today I purchased an almond croissant. It only costs $4.50, which is reasonable for Manhattan. The pastry is loaded inside with almond frangipane. Most bakeries put skimpy amounts of filling inside their flavored croissants. You certainly get your money's worth of product here! I also purchased some Pâté Normand. The first time I tried one was when I was in Normandy, umpteen years ago when I was a high school exchange student. It is made with pork, chicken liver, bacon and apple. It is usually eaten with cornichons (pickled cucumber) and drunk with a glass of white wine. The wine bar is closed on Sundays and Mondays, so I am taking home my pâté, today on the Fourth of July, and drinking a glass of MIP wine with it this evening. MIP is a wine brand that is Made in Provence. It is part of Épicerie's wine collection. I plan to buy a bottle of it now from one of the many liquor stores nearby that sell that brand, thanks to a Google search of "Made in Provence MIP wine where to buy". And thank you to chef/owner Daniel Boulud for providing quality French food and drink to French food connoisseurs like me.

little on the pricey side for a "fast casual" place, but hey, it's daniel boulud! stopped here for a quick lunch while i was in the area -- got the jambon beurre, which never disappoints, and the hot beef sandwich, which they heated up in the back, quite good! we also tried one of the ready-to-go salads from the fridge section (tuna nicoise) and nothing to complain about. there's some high top seating inside, and when the weather is warm, i believe you can eat outside as well. overall, i'd definitely make a stop if i needed a quick bite in the area, but i wouldn't go out of my way.

Nice atmosphere, the outdoor seating is great! However, their menu is just glamorized cafeteria food - with a sprinkle of quinoa and gruyère cheese to keep it "gourmet". For being self serve/grab and go service, it's priced a little high as well

Some time ago I had been craving for croissants for a while. I had to try authentic French bakeries , and this ones you could not forget about it . I got raspberry and Nutella croissants . They both had crispy out shells and so many layers inside, mouthful of buttery flavor and hint of each raspberry and Nutella as well. Didn't disappoint me for sure !

In typical Daniel Boulud fashion this is boujee spot with decent food. It is sort of like your standard grab and go cafe but expensive. They have different sandwiches in the glass case but I went with the Chicken salad sandwich with cranberries. It comes cold and they give you the option of heating it up. I enjoyed it cold so no big deal. Probably better heated up though. They also had Chocolate chip cookies on the counter so I ordered one of those. The cookie was full of chocolate chips but other than that it was pretty average for an expensive cookie. They have them sitting on the counter so they aren't fresh out of the oven which is always a problem. Epicerie Boulud is way too expensive for what you get. You might as well sit down somewhere and have a proper meal. Nothing stuck out to me about this place other than the prices. 3 stars all the way.

Despite it being very busy on Christmas Eve the service was great. Everything tasted fresh and the flavors were excellent. I would definitely pass by if your shopping at the Oculus or waiting for a train there.

This place has a nice location nice treats and good food but the coffee is meh. Kinda watered down if u ask me. But it's nice to have it across the steer from Lincoln center

I have passed Epicerie Boulud at least a dozen times, and I finally decided to give it a try. I ordered a Jambon sandwich and an assortment of Macaroon's. My sandwich was delicious, but a bit small. The bread was excellent, the Ham and the Gruyere cheese very fresh. I brought the Macaroon's to the office to share with my co-workers. It was unanimous that the Macaroon's were fabulous. Expensive, but worth it.

Nice spot for casual French market food à la Daniel Boulud. I've been here a few times and it's all friendly service and fancy desserts. Lemon Yuzu Tart is perfection! Delightfully tart and sweet, the citrusy custard had whole pieces of yuzu inside. Light airy meringue sits on top and every forkful was dreamy. Quiche Parisienne with a side salad makes a light meal, though the last piece was a bit crumbled. It was heated up and tasted fine, but try not to come towards the end of the lunch rush. Another time the Java Chocolate Éclair had gone stale by the late afternoon. I still ate it because decadent chocolate and all, but the pastry shell was so brittle and sad. Lesson is, don't get savory or sweet pastries later in the day, even from Boulud.

Can not beat their breakfast sandwiches! Can't wait to try their other items. Service is also excellent! Very friendly employees.

Top quality Expresso and a reasonably priced breakfast sandwich on the UES! I look forward to returning!!

I have been effusive in my praise of Daniel Boulud's restaurants. When I came across Épicerie Boulud, I was excited to try something better than an average deli. I picked a sandwich, sat down...and had a sandwich was that maybe as good as that from any other grab and go place in NY. The bread was dry...really dry, turkey, bacon and mayo, a little lettuce. The mayo overshadowed everything and it was either easy nor pleasant to eat. For $12. This is not worth the money and if I were Daniel Boulud, I would not want my name on it. Stick with any local deli.

This was the only place open early in the morning that I could find other than Starbucks. It was so busy and crowded. There was no where to stanx. The sandwich area was closed, so there was only two people taking orders for a crowd of people. I get up there and ask if I could order a sandwich that early and she said yes. The Vegetable Panini was $11, and The Breakfast Sandwich is 8.50 (it says $2 more if you want it on a croissant). So my total came up to $21.23. Unbelievable. These people are crazy. I go to give Ashley B $10 cash then card, and I dont know it seemed like she didnt understand what I was saying, then she said with attitude "no, we don't do that" - um I find that really hard to believe. (They have no bathrooms FYI. Best bet is to go to starbucks or the mall on the 2nd foor) I walked over near the sandwich area to wait and i notice that the sandwiches are in display like starbucks pretty much. So its shipped in frozen???? Not sure. It sure wasn't worth my $23 dollars and neither was the service.

Not what it seems. it's not an épicerie (grocery store) - it's a coffee shop. your outdoor seat? at 4:30 becomes a seat for dinner that you can't have anymore ("so sorry"). and the decaf iced coffee I had yesterday? not decaf, as I realized between midnight and 2:30 am).

I will give it 10 starts. Totally awesome and delicious place. Next time in the big apple will definitely be back. Excellent food and even better coffee and service. The ambiance it's also on point.

Five stars for the food, one star for the service and ordering system, so I am splitting the diff and giving Epicerie Boulud three stars. We had opera matinee tickets and a later dinner res at Boulud Sud, but had an hour to kill and wanted a snack first, so we stopped in at Epicerie Boulud. The ordering system is a farce. We werent the only customers who couldnt figure out where to go on line to order, where to pick up our food/drinks, etc. The staff were unusually unhelpful, seemed to hate their jobs, and didnt even seem to recognize the names of some items on their menu. When we did get to order, we chose the Quiche Parisienne (with Jambon de Paris, gruyere, leek, mushroom & parsley, served with a side salad) and the Opera Gateau. We wanted wine, and they had a nice list posted by the glass of about a dozen choices, but they told us that none were available except the prosecco and sauvignon blanc. Really? What kind of place runs out of wine at 1pm? Then we wait, and wait. The quiche comes out. That's it. I ask about the Opera Gateau. Blank stare. Doesnt even know what it is. After talking to SEVERAL staff, someone brings out a dessert from the back fridge and cuts off a slice for us. It's not the Opera Gateau, it's the Basque Gateau. Oh sorry, they say, we dont have the Opera Gateau today and when you ordered, all I heard was "Gateau." Sigh. The wine is in little plastic cups (can't give us actual glasses?). Luckily, the Quiche is DELICIOUS, the side salad excellent, and the Basque Gateau, while not what we ordered, is lovely and lemony. It was nice sitting in the patio sipping and munching. This place would be divine if they developed a logical, efficient ordering system, and trained the employees to know the food they are serving. Oh, and use real glasses, please.

A cute spot for pastries, drinks (boozy or caffeinated), lunch bites, and high quality market goods like cheeses and pate. I stopped by on a busy Sunday morning with the brunch in front of the shop in full swing. Things were emptier though still a bit crowded inside the Épicerie but their line system moved fast and it was easy to distance from others. There's a variety of sandwiches, salads, and pasties on display but I opted for just sweet options this time. I tried the almond croissant, original Madeline, and a chocolate tart. Every bite of each item was perfect. The croissant was airy on the inside with a nice glaze and crisp on the outside. The sugary paste was delicious. The Madeleines were simple and classic, with a nice lemony touch and moist cake that stayed that way even the next day. The chocolate tart was so decadent. Each bite made me feel guilty because it was so rich and chocolatey. The whipped marshmallow-esque topping paired perfectly.

The BEST place for an apéro, French style. Oysters are chucked right in front of you, the wine selection is impeccable and James is THE BEST behind the counter. Almost don't want to leave this review because I don't want this to get too crowded. But it's the best place to spend your afternoon.

Forgot to make my sandwich after I paid. When it came it was nasty. Watched cashier be rure about same situation with another customer. Trading on brand. Avoid.

Great little shop/bakery that was open late on a Friday night and surprisingly had great quality food! I got the beef chilli and let me tell you, this was so hot and fresh and full of flavor, I downed the entire cup in five minutes. The roof of my mouth isn't doing too well at the moment, but I can't blame anyone but myself for that. Also got the Mediterranean chickpea salad, and even though it was premade, I thought it was pretty solid. In addition, they have the absolute cutest football-themed cookies that make great presents for the sports lover in your life. The stool seats aren't very comfortable. That was the only negative. Overall, great spot to grab a quick bite for a good price in the area.

The quality here just isn't consistent and the pastries often seem hastily/sloppily put together - one particular example I remember were tennis ball desserts for the US open where the components visibly didn't line up. I've had better luck with the full size desserts (pumpkin pie, buche de noel, lemon tart). The croissants here are really beautiful and photogenic and indeed flaky, but I found them extremely dry and thick and did not enjoy them at all. The raspberry croissant is filled with chocolate ganache which I found pretty shocking - it tasted and felt like chocolate pudding, and was way too sweet with no raspberry flavor (the Eater article on the process of making these says they're 61% dark though). They also aren't consistent - a few months ago I got one with very little ganache but the one I got more recently was overflowing with ganache. In the same vein, the last cannelé I got here had an enormous hollow pocket that took up half of the interior - really different from the great one I had a few years ago. The location and late hours are convenient though, and I still have a pretty high opinion of the full size desserts here (for now at least) - I'm just wary of the individual pastries.

Mannnnn I cannot wait to upgrade my review of this place because I love the almond croissants here. But this morning when I asked for one, I asked for a large one please, and the employees judgmental response, after looking at me up and down was: "those have a lot of sugar." Before begrudgingly ringing me up. @management Number one tule to teach your employees- do NOT make comments about the orders of your customers, ESPECIALLY about the quantity of sugar and especially if you work at a bakery?!!! Honestly maybe I won't come back to not deal w commentary like that again.

Finally I found authentic pate de campagne in the US. I guess I had to come to Manhattan for it. It does use liver and is not wrapped with bacon which for some reason seems to be done at many places. Then the baguette was great and Cornichons and the glass of Beaujolais. What else could I want to be happy?

Very conveniently located in the Oculus building, this café had delicious food, and we found it reasonably priced for Manhattan. The service was very good, and the yogurt, croissants, and coffee that we had was exquisite.

Food delish. Service and ordering system is a nightmare. Really can do so much better. They don't call out by name or number. But by what was ordered which in general can get confusing when you order by description not by menu name. Or there are two similar orders. Or you order something that is in a fridge and not prepared and nobody tells you. I can go on and on about what a pain getting food for 5 was. Unnecessarily so. Food was good though. Change the system and you have my 5 stars.

How does a place this good on prices exist? These are genuine French style pastries. They try hard to make it like the traditional stuff. In the traditional way. The cafe understandably gets very busy, But staff is still respectful and kind. I canceled my Amazon shipment of imported Madelines and Palmiers (pastries) now that I've found this gem!

French style food spot across from Lincoln Center; Perfect for a quick bite before or in between performances. Their specialties go well with Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks, Lite Dinner. Tables and window counter seating allows to be able to relax and enjoy your meal. An Oyster Bar with Charcuterie & Cheeses, Wines by the Glass, Small Plates, and Beer. The bar has stools to be able to sit down. An area with Sandwiches, Soups, Salads, Vegetables, Quiches, Breakfast, and Viennoiserie. To order in or take-out. A Coffees, Teas, Hot & Cold counter, in or take-out orders. I had the Soup & 1/2 Sandwich Combo. At $10 it's a good price for a light meal. Roasted Tomato Soup was rich and creamy. On a cold, rainy evening it hit the right spot, a good warm dish. The Sandwich, toasted Jambon-Beurre with Gruyere Cheese. Delicious! A bag of chips and Hot Herbal Tea rounded off the meal. I need to go back to try the pastries.

We stopped by for a coffee and a sweet treat after a beautiful evening at Lincoln Center. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I love coming here because service and food is great . They have a bar that you can hangout and have a drink. Sandwiches, pastries, coffee , baguette pate ... exceptionally delicious!

Hats off and cheers to the Chef!! I used to pass by this restaurant because I thought it was too pricey but I have to say that their food is fabulous! Being short on time, I stopped in for a quick, hot breakfast sandwich and it was delicious. I just tried the hummus with little pitas, chopped olives and pickled red onion which was well worth the price. I love this place. My new Go-To!

My friend ordered the restaurant week 2021 food : a cup of soup, baguette(about 1/3 size), a sandwich and a coffee macaron. Pleasantly surprised by its various tasting menu. My friend liked every food. I only tasted half of a macaron - it was SO delicious and artisanal! I got why Boulud is so famous. The next day, I went there and bought a pack of macarons :-) Heard the coffee is also good. I have feeling I'll be a regular from now on. It is so close from my apartment. Why haven't I tried this place earlier? So lovely a place. Oh, their staffs, all of them were very kind too!

Our friends treated us to an entire Gateau Basque one cold early December. We sat at a table and cut large pieces and feasted, happily. It was delicious, ample, and fairly priced for such a pricy district.

Came by after the Lion King at the AMC a few blocks away (which, by the way - if anyone is interested in my layperson opinion - was a solid 4/5 and did justice to the original animation). Even though this was clearly a cafe with an emphasis on the pastries, I opted for the savory menu at the bar. Pretty decent flatbread, flavors from the spiced lamb felt a little toned down, but appropriate. I would give this a 3.5 if I could.

To the lady who gave me the free cheese when I was happy to pay for it, cheers and thanks ! I tried to finish the tuna sandwich... but just wasn't happy w the taste and texture. To the "bartender/barista" who seemed to have thought it was "peasant" and rude of me to get happy hour beer a few min earlier, I'm sorry but you have a negative attitude. I also witnessed you rolling your eyes at the other lady who said the small slice of cheese was on the house. You're young, but now is the time to learn a bit of professionalism and ACTUAL hospitality.

Just correcting the previous post. The quiche was yum. The salads look good too. I've had coffee from here before which really good. The tea was perfect on a snow night. Open til 10 pm.

One really quick way to get on my bad side is to serve me a poor slice of quiche--I mean, it's egg pie--can you think of a better food combination? At any rate, the mealy, lukewarm Quiche Lorraine my wife and I ordered here was unbelievably disappointing. It was dense and and weirdly chewy and ultimately quite flavorless--just all wrong for a quiche. And did I mention they served it lukewarm? Those cold chunks of slimy ham really felt weird going down. Coffee was acceptable and the seating options are fine--outdoor tables on broadway were a nice option. Too bad the food doesn't seem worth sitting there to enjoy.

There aren't exactly a ton of good pâtisseries that I've come across so far in NYC, which is why I was pleasantly surprised by Epicerie Boulud. I have gone a couple of times now for light pastries in the morning and they did not disappoint. The croissant aux amandes, tarte tropézienne, and gâteau basque were all delicious and tasted fresh, and the hot chocolate was good too (also appreciated the availability of oat milk and other dairy-free alternatives.) The service was great and quick in my experience, and the outdoor seating is great for enjoying some good quality viennoiseries and pâtisseries when the weather is nice out (they do also have heating outside.)
