Epicerie L'IDEAL

This little epicerie is simply the best. Simple preparations or the best quality available. Whether eating a meal, having a coffee break or purchasing supplies for your kitchen, this place will not disappoint. Their focus is on flavor and quality. The friendly staff is knowledgeable about the products and preparations and is very happy to share their enthusiasm with you. Take your time and explore and discover what they have to offer. This is one of our ‘go to’ places that deserves the hype.

Lovely little grocery store with several tables to enjoy the delicious counter creations. We enjoyed a chocolate dessert with cream and a coffee. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Found this description online: Épicerie L’Idéal, a grocery store (épicerie in French) selling pasta, spices, olive oils, wine and much more, handpicked by founder and former food journalist, Julia Sammut. It has a deli counter inside for takeaway sandwiches and desserts and a fantastic restaurant just opposite (which is closed on Mondays, along with the shop, and also on Tuesdays).

Favorite spot in all of Marseille. Perfect any time, but best for lunch, great for wine, even better for groceries. Staff is super gracious, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about their menu and products.

Such a beautiful place with an impeccable selection of products I honestly wanted to take everything home. The service was amazing too. Highly recommend!

A wonderful little place that both sells items to buy and is a restaurant. We enjoyed a simple but very tasty meal. The zucchini soup was noteworthy. Highly recommend visiting.

The restaurant has a new menu every day. I went with three friends and we enjoyed everything that we tasted. I'd definitely go back! Also, you can buy the ingredients that were used to make your food. I'm not sure if they share their recipes though. ;)

Loved the atmosphere, food and wine. Service was excellent- made us feel so welcome and held a table for us even though they don't usually take reservations. Thank you so much- we had an excellent lunch!

Beautiful store with an extreme amount of yummy condiments, spices, etc., including many very local and regional things that are hard to find outside the Provence, let alone outside France. Spend some time and money here and find lots of delicious ingredients.

Insufferable bobo magnet. Brought my friend to show how the neighborhood is getting ruined, and to see the bobos clustered into a small safe space Anyway, decide to buy some over-priced truffle oil. Impossible to know where the caisse is, as cluster of local bobo creatures generally swarming in open spaces in a combo of m'as-tu-vu / maybe let's pay. A woman who may also be the owner was flitting from behind supposed caisse and full tables taking orders, but not serving anyone either waiting to pay or trying to buy something. I tried to find out if we were in fact near the caisse. Since this is France, she pretended like this wasn't a problem, and that I'm the weird one. And of course didn't fix the problem. I exited the place to take some air and let French friend finish the wait, as my yanqui aggression was too elevated for the situation. Owner/lady patronizingly asked him what he was going to use the truffle oil for (quoi?!). He said cocktails and she was surprised. Whatever, bros.
