My heart was originally set on having something sweet for a late breakfast/brunch type meal, but any time I see there is a veggie fry up option, I tend to choose that over anything else. I'm not a veggie, but am quite a fan of veggie foods and veggie foods tend to be a healthier option anyway.
The atmosphere of this place isn't what I expected. In the past, I was always told that this place is always filled with west end mums and their babies, and pretentious people, but I didn't feel that sort of vibe at all. There was a good mix of people here and we fit right end. We were sat right behind this massive (real trunk, fake leaves) tree in the centre of the building, which was nice. We ordered water for the table, although I totally wanted a cider (they have my favourite lemon and ginger cider) but it was 10am, I couldn't bring myself to drink that early in the morning.
The veggie fry up came with a perfectly poached egg (how is it done?!), a huge slice of mushroom, beans, tomato, a tattie scone, spicy veggie sausage, veggie haggis, some spinach and a nice chunk of crusty bread. What a delightful plate of food. The veggie sausages had a hint of unexpected spice to them which added to the overall taste of them. Probably the best veggie sausages I've had in a very long time. The veggie haggis was....well, it wasn't meat haggis, hehehe! Everything else was nicely cooked and I enjoyed it.
Apparently they have the best brownies in Glasgow...or something like that, but when we asked if they had any, the waitress said "um, yeah I think we have some somewhere downstairs". That didn't really scream piping hot out of the oven or even somewhat fresh, so we decided to pass on the idea of getting a brownie. A couple of girls sitting next to us ordered one, however, and it looked a little too raw for our liking. Maybe we'll try it again next time.
I'd like to come back for some lunch/dinner so I can get a cider..that would be nice.
