The 35 Best Restaurants in Cartagena, Colombia | Eater

"With two cafes located in the heart of the walled city, Época aims to capture the intensity and aroma of specialty beans from coffee-growing regions like Quindío, Risaralda, Santander, and Sierra Nevada. To complement the coffee, they also offer a variety of eggs and omelets, pancakes, French toast, Mexican and Colombian dishes, and pastries. Meanwhile, inventive cocktails feature aromatic infusions of cardamom, rosemary, coffee, or cacao, as well as syrups made from beets or cantaloupe. It’s the perfect place to get some work done, meet friends, or take a quick break from walking around the city. [$ - $$]" - Juliana Duque

Went here for lunch and again another day for breakfast on a recent visit to Cartagena. All the food we ordered was fresh, flavorful and well presented. Service was always friendly and efficient. The cafe itself is multi level with a spiral stairway leading to the cozier upper level. There was a patio on this level that was closed. Overall a good pick when you are craving more non-local cuisine during a Cartagena trip.

Enjoyed the decor and atmosphere of this restaurant. The place provided a relaxing, appealing setting for getting away from the tourists, heat, and energy on the street outside. The food was tasty, appeared to be made with care. The service was attentive and appreciated. I would return here again, certainly for a relaxing hour at a table with a drink and maybe a book or notebook to flip through. My family enjoyed this experience. Thanks!

Delicious food! Alonso, our server was excellent! I have a gluten allergy, and ordered the “why not pancakes”. They are gluten free and very good. My omelet was the best I’ve had in Colombia! And the coffee was AMAZING!!! My husband order the “Epoca Breakfast” (he can consume gluten) and said that it was delicious as well. Oh, and did I mention the coffee?!?! Seriously, if you’re a coffee-lover or a foodie, you should definitely eat here.

Época Café Bar is a must-visit in Cartagena as it is easily one of the best café experiences in the city. The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful, combining historic charm with a refined, cozy feel. The interior features high wooden ceilings, stone walls, elegant lighting, and a perfectly curated blend of vintage and modern details that make it feel both timeless and inviting. We had the cappuccino, matcha latte, almond and chocolate croissant, and a fresh fruit bowl (everything was excellent). The coffee was rich and smooth, the matcha was balanced and creamy, and the pastries were fresh, flaky, and delicious. The fruit was vibrant and flavorful, clearly high quality. Service was warm and attentive from start to finish, and the staff made the whole experience feel effortless. Whether you’re looking for a leisurely breakfast, a place to work, or just a beautiful spot to enjoy your coffee, Época is the perfect choice. Highly recommend!

Great place for brunch, lunch and snacks! We ordered 2x salad bowls which were well portioned and delicious. GF, keto, veg and vegan options available. I think they also turn into a vinyl bar in the evening! Muchos gracias Alonso Herrera for being a wonderful host and waiter. We will definitely be back

Loved they have reservations, upstairs is very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent! The chicken and waffles are amazing with a spice/sweet sauce. The shakshuka eggs and oatmeal pancakes are great!

⸻ Época Café Bar ended up being one of my favorite stops in Cartagena. From the outside it looks nice enough, but once you step inside, the space really impresses with a mix of old and new details that make it feel both stylish and comfortable without trying too hard. I kept it simple and ordered a black coffee and the avocado toast and it was exactly what I needed. The avocado toast was fresh, flavorful, and surprisingly filling. Everything tasted clean and thoughtfully made.

Got lost on the way to another coffee bar and fell in love during my first trip to Cartagena. Enjoyed it so much, this was my first stop on this visit and service and experience was just as great. If you can, try breakfast and lunch and definitely get upstairs if your mobility allows. On the off hours, I settled in to read with a honey latte and never felt rushed, only welcomed.
