Date of Visit: 6/15/2024
We visited the Epoch Estate Wines during our visit to Central Coast in mid June, during Father's Day weekend. The tasting room of the Epoch Estate Wines was built by the remains of the historical York Mountain Winery, and was opened in December 2017.
We were welcomed by the host after we parked, and handed in the chilled 2023 Rosé and were walked into the tasting room.
2023 Rosé
The Rosé was made by 63% Mourvèdre, 26% Grenache, and 11% Syrah, with a refreshing smell of fruits and violet, very nice to drink in the summer.
2020 Sensibility
This one is the first red we had on the day. This one is 79% Grenache, and 21% Syrah. On the nose it begins with raspberry, orange, strawberry, and tastes like milk chocolate.
2020 Estate Blend
I love the smell of this one, and it was made with 46% Syrah, 24% Grenache, 11% Mourvèdre, 11% Tempranillo, 5% Graciano, 2% Zinfandel, and 1% Carignan. It is clear to get the taste of black cherry, vanilla, violets on the palette.
2020 Ingenuity
The third red wine is all about blue fruits. Mixed with 51% Petite Sirah, 25% Grenache, 22% Mourvèdre, and 2% Syrah, the 2020 Ingenuity is a good wine to drink in summer.
2020 Authenticity
The last one on the tasting list is 2020 Authenticity, which is 100% Syrah. Still too young as Syrah wine, can taste the tobacco and graphite smell.
2015 Authenticity
We also tried the 2015 Authenticity for vertical tasting. This one is more mature, but the structure was still obvious. Made with 81% Syrah and 19% Mourvèdre.
