60 Free Things to Do in London in 2025

"Just about an hour from the city, I found Epping Forest to be an ancient woodland spanning almost 6,000 acres with hiking and biking trails, sports fields, and over 100 lakes and ponds — a refreshing half- or full-day escape from London." - Matthew Kepnes

What a wonderful place Epping Forest is! It's a perfect break from city life and feels so peaceful. The old trees and walking paths are just beautiful. You can really feel the history as you walk through. The trails are kept in great shape, which makes it easy to enjoy a long walk. We saw lots of animals, and my kids had a blast. This forest is a special place whether you love to hike or just want a quiet walk.

A good place for a long walk. We saw a baby deer and a very old tree. But didn't quite understand why High Beach is called Beach. The church and the cemetery is a hidden gem!

Eppic Forest is truly a hidden treasure in the UK! As soon as I entered this magical woodland, I was struck by its stunning beauty and peacefulness. The trails are beautifully maintained, offering a fantastic mix of challenging hikes and gentle walks that cater to everyone, regardless of age or fitness level. The variety of plants and wildlife is remarkable. The colorful wildflowers and the cheerful sounds of birds create such a calming atmosphere. I enjoyed wandering through the forest, discovering the cozy little spots that seemed to hold their own unique charm. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable, adding so much to the experience with their insights into the forest's ecosystem. Whether you're after an adventure, a relaxing getaway, or a fun family day out, Eppic Forest has it all. It's an ideal place for picnics, photography, or just soaking up the beauty of nature. I wholeheartedly recommend Eppic Forest – it’s an essential stop for anyone in the area!
