San Francisco Restaurants With the Best Views | Eater SF

"The sight of the Golden Gate Bridge remains one of San Francisco’s most iconic vistas. Now that Equator has taken over the Round House at the bridge, it’s home to phenomenal coffee and pastries, too. Opened in 1937, the Art Deco-style space is a gorgeous cafe that provides world-famous views of the Bay. It’s also a perfect starting point for a jaunt across the famous structure." - Paolo Bicchieri

Equator Coffees serves a great cup of coffee, and the steady flow of people shows how popular it is. I really enjoyed sitting outside in the nice weather, slowly sipping and taking in the moment. Bonus points for the dog treats available—such a thoughtful touch for pet lovers!

Google
I really love their drinks and the people working there are always very nice. I usually have a great experience here, but yesterday I ordered a cold brew, and when I was just about finished with it, I found a piece of hair in my cup. That’s not the biggest heath concern I know, but I was still taken aback and grossed out. I tried calling and messaging them but sadly I didn’t hear back, nor was I able reach anyone. I understand stuff like this happens, but I sort of wish I could’ve been compensated for my order.

Google
Equator Coffee is a fantastic spot! We had an awesome coffee paired with an amazing breakfast sandwich that hit the spot. They also offer other quick bites, making it a great option for a casual meal. The tables provide a comfortable place to sit and enjoy your food while taking in the stunning view. Also, amazing prices ! Perfect for a relaxing start to the day or a quick break—highly recommend!

Google
Service is great and nice drink and pastry options. Their black coffee selections are okay overall wish they had a really dark low acid roast

Google
Delicious breakfast sandwich and cake. Good coffee too. It seems to be a quite popular spot and definitely a good way to start the day.

Google
I’ve to say what a beautiful location this place is located at. The views are mesmerizing. The people are very friendly and their service is awesome. I got a mocha and chicken sandwich. The mocha was amazing. The chicken sandwich was also great, cold but the filling felt fresh and the sour dough was mamamia… I loved their flavor. Overall a must visit. Ps- kudos to the barista who made me a large by mistake though I ordered a smaller one.

Google
I was on my way to Golden Gate Bright when I suddenly caught the delicious smell of coffee in my nose. Following this smell, I ended up at this wonderful café right on the waterfront and was not disappointed. The coffee not only smelled delicious but also tasted good. They also have a very impressive display of snacks. I opted for a blueberry muffin. The atmosphere and service were very pleasant and friendly. On site, you can eat outside or inside - but inside there are only a few seats. If the weather is good and the clouds allow it, you can even see a bit of the Golden Gate. This spot is definitely recommended for a to-go coffee and snack.

Google
It's a great place to have both hot and cold coffee☕. Their coffee blend is really good

Yelp
Habibi Latte with Oatmilk, less sweet: 5* (Consistently good over time) Be prepared for a wait (10-15min) on busy days like Sunday morning (Fort Mason Market on Sunday mornings). Good service with staff very transparent about the wait and moving the rush efficiently along.
google avatar

Cami R.

Yelp
Line and wait were a little longer than what I like to spend waiting for a coffee but also came here around peak time Sunday at 11 am. The lady who gave me my drink was also really nice so I appreciated that :) The food looks great in here! While we were waiting it seemed like a lot of people were getting the breakfast sandwich thats on the menu so definitely a good tip if you are looking for something quick to eat. In terms of the drinks, coffee is definitely a go to here. I unfortunately got a chai and it was just not that great, probably better hot but I wont be trying that next time haha! Their cold brew is apparently really good from what I've heard. Next time I'm here I'll definitely be getting the Habibi Latte since it sounded so good. I always love a good warm cardamom latte on a walk down the marina green!

Yelp
Such a pretty location, which is right next to the Golden Gate Bridge. An amazing viewing experience. Try to sit at one of the windows, looking outside at the Golden Gate Bridge. It is beautiful! I ordered a bacon and turkey panini which was great. It came out warm which was perfect for the cold rainy weather outside. My friend got a grilled cheese which she said was great as well. The inside is cute and the perfect size for the place. The staff are all really nice and accommodating.

Yelp
Perfect spot to enjoy a tasty coffee by the water. The coffee quality here is amazing. I tried their seasonal Habibi Latte - orange blossom, cardamom, clove, vanilla syrup, espresso, and steamed milk and absolutely loved it. It was a very festive and fun beverage to enjoy while walking around the marina! It can get quite popular and busy, especially on weekends. We've waited over half an our for our drinks before, so plan accordingly!
google avatar

Joanna T.

Yelp
Charming coffee hut serving Equator coffee and alternative beverages. Dogs are welcomed with FREE biscuits in the jar on the condiment station. Cutesy seating carts outside the café. Views of Fort Mason center. A great meeting spot before a walk along Marina Boulevard or on route to Crissy Fields or the Golden Gate Bridge! I got a slice of pumpkin bread (yum! seasonal item). They serve savory sandos too! Except for Sunday farmers market day in Fort Mason or Saturday mornings when sunny weather out, there isn't much of a wait to get served! Hooray!

Yelp
This equator coffee location was so appreciated on a recent visit to Fort Mason. My partner and I had a strong need for caffeine, though I am a tea drinker and she a coffee drinker. Fortunately, equator had two really excellent fall-themed drinks for both coffee AND tea. They also had matcha, which I'm excited to try next time I go there. During my visit, a big event was going on at Fort Mason so service was...elongated. They definitely were doing the best they could, but it's a small space and you can only make drinks so fast. I think we waited 10-15 min for our drinks. I don't hold it against them at all but something to consider when things like that are happening nearby. But once you have your drink, it's hard not to appreciate the beauty nearby. Sip your drink and take in the bay and the bridge. Can't top that.
google avatar

Jon C.

Yelp
Equator has a bunch of creative drinks on their menu but I decided to go basic and get their cold brew. I figured if they can't nail down a simple drink, then their speciality drinks probably wouldn't be any good. I'm happy to say I enjoyed their cold brew. This branch is located right next to Fort Mason and is surrounded by beautiful scenery. Get some coffee, take a walk around Marina and go towards Palace of Fine Arts and Crissy Field or towards Ghirardelli Square and Fisherman's Wharf/Pier 39.

Yelp
We visited Equator Coffees at Fort Mason after a refreshing morning run at the marina, and it was the perfect way to start our day! I highly recommend ordering online to save time, as there's always a long queue at the coffee shop. I tried The Habibi Latte, which features a delightful blend of orange blossom, cardamom, clove, vanilla syrup, two shots of espresso, and steamed milk. It was incredibly delicious and tasty, with a unique flavor profile that I absolutely loved. Plus, you can enjoy your Habibi Latte with your habibi, making it a special experience!

Yelp
I just had the pleasure of trying some of their pastries after leaving the S.F. Coffee Festival at Fort Mason on Sunday. And yes they had a booth at the festival. Since I was all full of caffine, I needed some food in my tummy to focus. lol I tried their cornbread and I was very impressed. Well, if I am ever back in their area, I wouldn't mind trying some of their other pastries.
google avatar

Yelp
The cherry blossom Matcha latte was pretty good. I enjoyed the cherry blossom foam, it's pretty sweet. My friend had the coffee which she thinks it's ok. The services were a bit slow that day we waited at least 15 minutes to get our coffee. The staffs are nice. It was very good to see people there for hanging out from a bike ride or walk their dogs.
google avatar

Yelp
Solid chai! Got the housemade rooibos chai ($5 for 10oz) which is decaf. Really smooth, creamy, and subtly sweet. Unique blend of spices and super warm & comforting on a cold windy day! Their pastries all looked so delicious too. Really convenient location right in fort mason & friendly service -- only con is that there was quite a long wait for the drink to come out.

Yelp
I haven't loved my time in San Francisco, as in my first evening here I saw a homeless guy fight a security guard in a Walgreens and witnessed more than a few junkies shooting up on the sidewalk with no regard for human life lol. But I've had such a negative view point since that first night, I decided today to walk as much as the city as I can with an open mind. I always find walking through a city gives you the best feel for it, boots on the ground let's pound the pavement. Legs feed the wolf. All this to say I'm at Equator Coffee right now, outside in these red metal chairs with my bomb cold brew and delicious butter croissant, getting off my feet for a sec to recharge for the rest of the journey. I love this area of SF tho... that's what locals call it yeah? SF? I hope y'all don't call it "San Fran" that just sounds wrong aahahaha. But, yeah. I love how much nature is over here. I love breathing this clean, crispy air it's good for the soul I swear to god ahahaha. It reminds me a lot of Vancouver, and I think Vancouver is the most underrated city in the world but that's a convo no one wants to have. SF is growing on me. I'll keep y'all updated on the rest of this walk, about to get these legs working again. Thank you Equator Coffee for fueling this 2nd half of my journey. Ig @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

Yelp
I'm not going to lie, I was disappointed. Not because Equator did anything wrong but because of the heavy volume of such a big crowd, their espresso drinks were taking about 45-mins for a wait time. I literally waited in line for 20-25 mins and then when I got to the front, the front barista told me the timing issue which then ruined my experience. Other than that, I'm glad they have an Equator coffee shop here! It makes it more unique and adds a great addition for people visiting the area especially during Farmer's Market! I'd love to come back and hopefully this time, I'll be able to have a drink!

Yelp
Love equator coffee!! It's great and is at the perfect location for a morning/afternoon stroll. Their bagel is also surprisingly good. The service is always great, it's an in and out kind of place but has outdoor seating. I always have a good experience here .
google avatar

Dhanya J.

Yelp
Their habibi latte (orange / cardamom / etc) is soooo good! And it's such a cute little shop in such a beautiful part of the city - amazing views of the golden gate bridge and if you're there on Sunday mornings, you also get to visit the farmers market at Fort Mason!
google avatar

Cece Y.

Yelp
Tiny outpost of this delicious coffee chain. Delicious Iced Cherry Blossom Matcha Cream. I recommend the cream version over the latte version. Download their app and register for an account for a free drink. There are few seats along the window, but that's it. There are tables outside, however. This place is always busy on the weekend, especially since it's right next to the farmers market. One clean unisex bathroom in the corner, but given how popular this tiny location is, there will likely always be a line or it will be out of order.

Yelp
Nice little coffee & pastry shop to drop by when visiting the Fort Mason area. Ordered a small drip coffee and the cardamom & chocolate fika bun. The coffee was nice and light while the fika was supper soft and chewy. It had the perfect amount of chocolate with a nice soft crunch from the sugar baked on top. The cardimum brought a nice, well-rounded peppery floral addition that accented the chocolate and made me want to run and go grab several more once I finished it. The only thing was the staff member taking orders and working the register gave off the impression that she did not want to be there and the line of customers was being an inconvenience towards her day. Made for a very awkward interaction, as you could tell, she did not want to be talking with us.
google avatar

Emmeline W.

Yelp
Great location near the water! My friends and I stopped by during a walk in the neighborhood. Great coffee & lovely staff. Very small shop with limited seating inside, but most folks just pop in and out after getting their drinks. The interior is clean and tidy. Our order came out in 5~ min, despite there being a sizable line ahead of us. HABIBI LATTE: Delectably fragrant without being overpowering. You can definitely taste the cardamom. Sweetened lightly. I'm a fan. Will have to be back to try the pastries everyone raves about.
google avatar

Amy W.

Yelp
Best cardamom buns, ever. End of review. All jokes aside, these cardamom buns are insanely good. I believe they source them from a bakery in Berkeley, but I never caught the name of the bakery. I really don't know if I'll ever find a cardamom bun that tops this one (not even La Cabra!) The drinks are fine, nothing crazy, but the staff here is so friendly! Really love coming here and enjoying a book inside by the open windows or outside on the park benches.

Anandita S.

Yelp
I love this coffee shop. You can grab a coffee on your way out of the city. I love picking up a latte and treats. The customer service is great however, i wish they would share the coffee time when ordering. It took us 30 mins. This place is super happening and the crowd is friendly. I definitely will be downloading the app. Cute little coffee shop by the marina.
google avatar

Therese H.

Yelp
Sometimes we forget to review our favorite places that we go to all the time ... Been coming here off and on for 8 years since I used to work at Equinox. And now I routinely walk 40 min here to get the best mocha on this side of the city. Their baristas are the best, the coffee is always good and I have a serious addiction to the breakfast sandwich ! Thank you Equator Fort Mason
google avatar

Cloud L.

Yelp
Bad coffee with stunning view. We ordered their specialty: the cherry blossom latte (I think) and lavender latte. Price is average, and they didn't taste good. Well, to be fair, this place has the best view of the golden gate and we just came for the view, so in a way we got what we wanted. Friendly staffs.
google avatar

Jack R.

Yelp
Needless to say I'm a super fan of their shakeretos. I've had shaken espresso elsewhere, and it still doesn't measure up to Equators'. Something about the not bitter espresso and the blend of milk that always hits the spot.
google avatar

Vanessa C.

Yelp
This cute spot can get busy but it well worth the wait. The pastries are fresh and ample. They were very well stocked considering the crowd they had attracted. Their arrays of merch and coffee beans are something I often come back for. They take pride in fighting for the environment instead of business profits. I had the habibi latte and it was delicious. Additional the banana bread was moist and flavorful of natural banana. Overall, I'd def recommend this as a place to refuel if you're in the area.
google avatar

Linda P.

Yelp
I love the ambiance, pleasant baristas, and the fact that the chai isn't overly sweet or the spices overly empowering. Perfect chai latte. There's tables outside for you to sit and enjoy your drink if the weather permits.
google avatar

Blair P.

Yelp
Equator serves the best latte. I get mine with oat milk; it's super frothy and delish. They also have the best pastries, fresh baked and delivered daily. The baristas are super nice too. They offer bar service, so order and pick up from the bar. Outdoor seating. Great location; you can sip your beverage by the waterfront. It's a vibe.
google avatar

Yelp
Sunday Morning 9A Staff was friendly, place was bustling, great spot for people and dog watching. Batch Brew Coffee, black. $3.25 Blueberry Muffin, $4 Fresh Fruit Galette, $5 The two pastries were pretty disappointing, but did it's job to fill up the belly before hitting the Fort Mason farmer's market for more food. Go here for the tasty coffee, Sunday farmers market, and the view. The history of Equator Coffees is also fascinating.
google avatar

Nina D.

Yelp
Really loved this coffee shop but drinks take a while. This coffee shop is conveniently located right next to the fort mason farmer's market. We started our day by grabbing equator coffee and walking around the park near fort mason. I got a caramel latte which was super flavorful - not too sweet and great coffee bean flavors. Equator coffees coffee does tend to be quite milky (which I enjoy) but wanted to give a heads up for others who might not love milky coffee. Though the coffee was good it took them 20+ mins to prepare the drink as it is a popular spot. So recommend ordering online or walking around the farmer's market while you wait. There isn't much seating inside and definitely more of a to-go spot.

Ksenia V.

Yelp
I usually go to fort mason location and it's one of my all time favorite spots. The habibi latte is amazing, their breakfast frittata is basically perfect, highly recommend
google avatar

David H.

Yelp
Decent espresso, cool spot. The cortado was nice, but a touch bitter. They were very busy when I stopped in so took a minute (which isn't a bad thing - love that the drinks are made with care)
google avatar

Lin C.

Yelp
We went on a Sunday where there was an event near by. Let me start with saying that sometimes the line will be out the door and they'll have a sign saying that the wait can be 20-30 minutes and all of it can be a little daunting, but in my experience time goes by way faster and next think you know, your drink is ready! The staff was extremely nice, despite the long lines. The coffee was delicious, a little on the pricier side but definitely strong and worth it for a little treat! Great spot to pick up a coffee and just walk around to take in the scenery!
google avatar

Mr. F.

Yelp
We love this little place. When we visit SF from Seattle every couple years, we stay in the Marina and come here at least once because they coffee is delicious and the service is friendly. Plus the location is really one of the best imaginable. Certainly beats any location in Seattle.
google avatar

Mylinh V.

Yelp
Perfect spot to grab a drink while walking along Crissy Field/ the Marina/ Fort Mason area: This is located in a parking lot near by the beach. It is a little store behind a gate across from Safeway. The location is always a little busy but the service is quick and everyone is super nice and friendly. They gave my dogs some treat while we waited. They were so kind to remake my Matcha Latte when it was too sweet.
google avatar

Daniel M.

Yelp
Came here on Saturday before the craft fair and although it was very busy, the employees provided superior customer service, great food and coffee! My friends and I needed a coffee to wake us up. We stumbled upon Equator Coffees and decided to grab coffee there. We saw the line and realized that this is the coffee shop that many of our other friends rave about! We waited in line for about 10 minutes and I got the Bacon Cheddar Scone (got it heated) with an Iced Vanilla Coffee! These were both delicious! I'm still thinking about the bacon cheddar scone to this day. It was the perfect blend of bacon and cheddar. There wasn't much to speak on the ambiance since it's more of a grab and go situation. Along with the craft fair going on, there was a Farmer's Market happening nearby the coffee shop. Also, loved the aesthetic of the overall coffee shop and I love the San Francisco merch they were selling. I enjoyed my experience at Equator Coffees and I will be back the next time I'm in the Fort Mason area!
google avatar

Anna F.

Yelp
I was happy to support this business that cares about the impact of its coffee. I was also happy to have potentially the best breakfast sandwich of my life. They have two foods here: breakfast or chicken salad sandwich. Both are good, but the breakfast sandwich is just decadent. Nice flavorful chai too and good service.

Rebecca M.

Yelp
Ok but overpriced for the quality (cappuccino way too hot--kills the flavor of the coffee; pastry pretty standard issue, yet high priced).
google avatar

Gerard Y.

Yelp
I ordered a pour over coffee here not too long ago. Loved the coffee. Wasn't too bitter. I also love the fact that they spelled my name correctly without even having me spell it out. Can't emphasize that enough since most coffee places get it wrong.
google avatar

Nikki M.

Yelp
A little overhyped in my opinion. A little tip order online 30 mins before on weekends if you go if you don't it's totally not worth it. People are nice and fun vibe around fort mason but the raspberry mocha was only okay not worth the wait
google avatar

Haley L.

Yelp
The breakfast frittata sandwich is one of the many reasons we keep coming back! Typically if the line is long we just order ahead on the app and by the time we arrive, everything is hot (or iced and cold) and ready to go! Such a fun vibe at Fort Mason with the marina right there, and great for an early AM or weekend coffee
google avatar

Edward A.

Yelp
The Mocha Java blend is my favorite for espresso, of any brand and blend, to date. I recently went to Rainbow grocery and bought 9 small bags out of bulk for a taste comparison. Most were popular brands sold almost exclusively in the Bay Area. Although not specifically intended as an expresso blend, the Mocha Java was my favorite (I've been using it off and on for six months). A bit of brightness with a lingering rich chocolate taste. It was #1 both alone and as a cappuccino.
google avatar

Ashley L.

Yelp
A chain around SF & Marin area. Expect a wait every time you go, but I've come to find everyone you encounter that works here is super friendly. They have a great selection of pastries and baked goods to choose from, seasonal coffee offerings & don't miss out on their flavored cream on top of cold brew. You can never go wrong with the vanilla lavender flavor. Perfect place to grab a cup and walk along Marina green towards the bridge on a nice day.

Lily B.

Yelp
I usually enjoy this equator however on Saturday I waited over an hour for my matcha latte. After 45 minutes I asked them the ETA and they hadn't even accepted my DoorDash order so I hadn't been added to the queue. I then watched one of their workers ( a woman with curly black and green hair) blow her nose, wipe it with her fingers and then make food items without washing her hands. She also picked crumbs off and ate it. A very disturbing sight as a customer.
google avatar

Stephanie H.

Yelp
I tried the Habibi Latte (made with orange blossom, cardamom, clove, vanilla syrup, two shots of espresso & steamed milk), since I like cardamom, and I haven't had a latte with those flavors before. While it was unique, it wasn't the most flavorful of drinks, but it was still refreshing and enjoyable. I came in the afternoon on a weekday and it wasn't busy at all. Conveniently located in Fort Mason Center, you can go for a nice stroll with your coffee in hand and view the Golden Gate Bridge.
google avatar

Sally H.

Yelp
This cafe has the perfect picturesque view to end your Golden Gate walk. However, if you are parking here on a weekend you may have trouble finding a spot. We ordered the Habibi Latte and the seasonal blackberry cold brew. The Habibi Latte is creamy and has a mild fragrance of cardamom and clove. Meanwhile the blackberry cream on the cold brew added the perfect sweet and creamy touch to the cold brew. We also ordered the cream cheese danish but ended up with a lemon based one instead. However, I love lemon, so it was a decent substitute.
google avatar

Frances J.

Yelp
Got good Boba and this delicious blueberry cheese danish definitely, recommend. The mango and lychee flavor syrup is tasty.

David R.

Yelp
Great coffee and the baristas are great as well. A nice view of the bay. I love coming here when i am in SF!
google avatar

Anna T.

Yelp
Early Sunday afternoon this location was very busy. It is small inside with plenty of outside tables. Even though it was busy, it was very efficient and didn't take long at all for service. They have a huge, impressive, drink menu. In fact, I look forward to going back to try more. Everyone was friendly including the customers. I also bought coffee beans to take home. I prefer it ground but for some reason they charge more for this convenience. I have a grinder so no big deal, but unusual, and if you are traveling this may be good to know.
google avatar

Sonam B.

Yelp
The BlackBerry Cream Cold Brew that is their new seasonal drink is so good and refreshing, great for the 70 something weather!
google avatar

Reema P.

Yelp
My go to coffee shop on Sunday mornings before the farmers market! They always have tons of seating outside and are so quick even with the long lines! They make such good seasonal drinks too!
