Love this gym! It’s actually the only Equinox in all of Michigan, and you can definitely feel the upscale vibe as soon as you walk in. The space is super clean, modern, and well-organized. The locker rooms feel like a spa—think steam rooms, nice showers, and all the little touches that make a difference. The café inside is also a great perk—perfect for grabbing a smoothie or healthy bite after a workout. If you're looking for a gym that goes beyond just equipment and really focuses on the whole experience, this is it.

Equinox is hands down the best gym I’ve been to. The equipment is always top-notch and well-maintained, but what really sets it apart is the atmosphere—it’s clean, never feels overcrowded, and the staff keeps everything running smoothly. The sauna and cold plunge are a huge plus, making recovery just as much of a priority as training. It’s not the cheapest option out there, but if you actually use the amenities, it’s worth every penny.

Hello to all so i had toured twice And spoke via text a few times with one of the awesome membership advisors. I think her name is Leanne .... She is amazing, friendly and she is exactly the kind of person that brings value to the workplace and really makes everyone feel welcome. No matter whether you are slim or on the heavier side, something I can't really say for everyone. before determining that this was exactly the quality of service and Niche layout and just overall just top quality everything experience. Because if I'm going to spend my money I want it to work hard for me. So I'm giving it four stars because the amenities are great. Everything's clean the eucalyptus towels, The alchemist products in the shower. It feels safe, secure, and it's very clean. Love hot yoga on Thursdays but here's where you lose the one star and this is really what's starting to rubs me the wrong way. I've been there on Monday, Thursdays and Saturdays You're fromt desk staff not super friendly tbh, especially when I'm leaving the club. They don't even bother saying hi. Have a good night or nothing of the sort and I even look in their directions to see if they're going to acknowledge that a member is leaving. None of that happens. Yes, I might be a newer member but I'm still a member.. coming in is a little different obviously because they want to make sure that you're a member so they verify you. But like if they didn't have to do that, would they even give you acknowledgment or a welcome? Here's my other thing. The cafe has short hours literally when I get there like around 7:30/8pm It's literally already closed. So as someone that works out in the evening time I can't really get Benefits of having a cafe smoothie bar area. I can't even get a smoothie made or anything. So it really just feels like this is maybe where lifetime fitness excels at because they have longer hours for their members overall across the board. My third thing the shower area is yes. Other people in the comments have said there's no sauna. That's not a deal breaker for me. I have one at home. I'm not stressed about that. What I recognize is the showers can be kind of icky some of the shaving creams look rusted out. They don't look like they're actually clean the showers. Then every time I have went into the shower, I don't see anyone actually cleaning the showers, wiping them down or spraying them down for that matter, which really makes me very icky and grossed out. I even went into one shower and there was a clump of hair in the drain and I literally almost screamed because what!! And you don't have any sort of hair product for people's hairs. So if I'm sweating or going for a swim what am I supposed to do? Just put water in my hair that part just kind of doesn't sit with me. I don't know. Maybe I'm just feeling like out of all the products that you have you're missing literally the most essential thing to just kind of make sure that people leave presentable without looking crazy. Especially those of us that don't have straight hair and have curly coily maybe a little kinky hair. Just saying you have all these amazing products you're missing. Literally the most important thing for someone to feel good about leaving a place. If you've made it this far in the review, I'm happy I took the one star off, especially because the shower area. Hello, that's a very sensitive area where people spend a lot of intimate time in and then just the customer service when exiting the club. The have a good night is a nice feeling. You know like you just spent an hour or two or maybe more in the club. The least you can do is be nice to your members instead of standing there not being "friendly". The other day the guy was literally on his phone when I was getting ready to exit and I made eye contact but literally no greeting or goodbye or anything on his phone... Not every members up tight. Not every member is super bougie. Some of us are really just laid back. Good Vibes and chill. Thank you once again for your prompt review of what I've said up to this point.

I had the pleasure of visiting here for the first time the other day. Derryck was very helpful in assisting me with potentially setting up a membership. It’s a very luxurious atmosphere, plenty of marble, a very private pool, hot tub area, modern machines, etc. I do however wish they’d have an outdoor pool area for the summer at least to outweigh the benefits of their competitors, and reopen their lounge area which is unfortunately closed. Not to mention their hours are a little odd, they close very early. I am happy that I was able to experience it though.

Overall, I’ve had a great experience as a new Member at this gym. Very happy I signed up! :)

This gym is a great option depending on what you’re looking for. It has great equipment, there are a ton of classes to choose from, it’s clean and has pretty good hours. The Equinox brand definitely appeals to a younger crowd (18-40) and has a great aesthetic. The yoga studio is beautiful and the mats/blocks/towels/bolsters are by Manduka, which as a regular yoga practitioner I can say is the best brand out there. The pool, hot tub and cold plunge are also very nice. I was recently sitting in the hot tub and thought “wow.. it’s so tranquil in here.. I wonder why.” And then I remembered that children aren’t allowed, which I realize isn’t a plus for everyone, but for me it’s a huge selling point. Above all I think the best thing about this gym is the staff, everyone is so friendly and knowledgeable. Especially Bernadette! She is my go to whenever I have questions about memberships/classes/gym offerings and events. Bernadette is so kind and was able to answer all of my questions about the gym, she wasn’t pushy when it came to signing up and even got me a discounted rate by looking up my employer. Highly recommended. Thanks again Bernadette!

Great gym, great amenities, and friendly staff. If you are considering getting a membership make sure you speak with Leann or Steven they’re the best!

Google
Unfortunately, this is the gym where my prescription glasses were stolen. My prescription glasses, worth approximately 800 USD, were stolen while I was going to and from the toilet - exactly 2 minutes. Even more interesting, no one paid attention. I just received ridiculous comments like "Are you sure? Maybe it's somewhere else." Unfortunately, I don't want to go anymore. The management's only concern is new membership

Yelp
Equinox is pure luxury!!! This place is my second home and the best gym I have ever belonged too. I love trying new classes and spending my days in the pool!

Yelp
I'm not sure why there are negative reviews but I just transferred recently and the locker rooms are suuuuper clean - I was a member in another city (that had 3+ locations I have been to) and this location is the cleanest one I have seen. It is smaller but not overcrowded. All of the instructors have been very kind as well. Only thing missing is sauna and more work from home space/furniture.

Yelp
I went into Equinox gym today because I lock my keys in my car in the parking lot next door & my phone went dead. I knew with all my time in a gym that they would have a charger which they did .The fellow at the desk took my phone but before he would charge it he ask if I was a member which I told him I wasnt he handed my phone back & said if your not a member no charging of the phone.Another member in the parking lot did charge my phone I only wanted to call for help.He then called the police and said I was loud & I was in the store last week I wasnt either.IAll I needed was little help.I quess I went into the wrong place of business.I was surprised at that the mistake I made would make such a problem.

Yelp
Clean, not too crowded, helpful staff, excellent dressing rooms, steam room, pool, spa and overall good atmosphere to focus on health and wellness. Is pricey but worth it.

Yelp
If you like a gym that closes at 9 pm Monday through Thursday, 8 pm on Fridays and 5 pm on weekends....where the shower heads haven't been cleaned in nearly a year, where maintenance staff are all rude school-aged "adults" except 1-2 of them, where the gym starts closing 30 min before actual close, where they spray chemical cleaners in showers next to yours, then this may be the one for you! Oh and if you try to share your joy with management, they absolutely do not care, which feels nice! 0/10 would pass.

Yelp
Friendly staff and a beautiful place to workout! Cold plunge and steam room are great.

Yelp
If you're thinking about the BEAUTIFUL LIFE TIME FITNESS, down the street, it is a far far superior option. I COULD NOT be more disappointed with my equinox membership. The work out equipment is very underwhelming but they offer a cold plunge that no one else in the area does. First day of using my membership I went to use the steam room after cold plunge and there was no steam. For like 15 minutes. Like not at all. I was getting pretty confused when a younger gentleman came in, poured water somewhere, and got everything going. A couple minutes in, a staff member came storming in and scolded everyone in the room for messing with "his" steam room. He was very aggressive and went on for over a minute with the door open, letting all of the steam out. On my way of the steam room a couple moments later, his fellow equinox goon gave me a dirty look and shook his head. I was like wtf this can't b real. At a 210 a month gym . That's crazzzzy. This left a bad taste in my mount so it was a week or so before I came back. The steam room had no steam once again, and when I inquired to employees about what was going on they told me it was going to be out of service for 4 weeks and made a joke about how I should just "go turn the shower on hot, you'll get some steam". Wow... mind u people this membership is 200 a month. When I got this membership, the sales girl leann told me since I was purchasing 2 memberships they would be giving me 2 $150 equinox gift cards. When I got the member ship I asked where they were, since I thought she would just give them to me. Said they "should" be on my account in 5 days. I inquired abt the gift cards over a week later, at which point she said it should be here around the 28th. It was the 23rd. So she basically just told me the exact same thing as last time. I asked if there was anyway she could just give me the card, and she said no, it's her system. It's crazy to use something in your pitch as a selling point, and then not actually have any intention of giving it to your clients. There's a million other things I could go off about with this place, but this is what to expect from these people. If you're thinking about the BEAUTIFUL LIFE TIME FITNESS, down the street, it is a far far superior option. Wayyyy better work out equipment, sauna, steam room, pool, and for about the same price you can get access to every single life time in Michigan.

Yelp
Nice club but the showers are always covered in snot. People blow their nose in the shower and the club is 100% okay with that. Many people just hang out in the locker room and use the showers.

Angelo R.

Yelp
It's wasn't really anything special to me.. I heard about how "nice of a gym" it was. Nothing really stood out as of equipment, but the inside itself was nice and bright. Fell like it was more hype if anything.

Yelp
I highly recommend this gym to all of my friends. I'm so glad that they opened an equinox in Michigan, I really did not like lifetime. I joined when the gym first opened and I think that it was cleaner then. It still is clean and some of the workers work very hard and are always there. However, often times I will find that the bathrooms or showers are dirty. This was usually a problem when I used to go at night but I also noticed it in the morning once. I love that the steam room is very clean and that they close it to clean it. The pools are really clean too. I dislike that instead of opening the door sometimes the valet guys will just stand there talking with one another. I get it they're young but the least they could do is acknowledge you and attempt to open the door. Sometimes the front desk people say goodbye, other times they don't. Overall, the workers are really kind and the people here are really kind. I also don't like how crowded it gets around 5-7pm. I try to avoid that time. I wish they had made the gym multiple floors when they opened it. I feel as though they'll probably have to expand it in the future or open another one. The reason I love coming to this gym is because of the great classes they offer. The app is very helpful and shows classes throughout the day. Linda is an amazing yoga instructor. When I went to lifetime I'd pay for yoga and the gym separately because I didn't like their classes but here the instructors are all great. I also really like Erica. The cycling classes are great too. I had Alie and she made it really fun and the music was really good too!

Yelp
I lived in NYC for almost 11 years, so I am well versed on swanky gyms. The Bloomfield Hills Equinox is by far the best gym I have ever belonged to. Like many reviews before, the amenities you get with your membership are superb. I love that I don't have to bring much with me because I know the there is Kiehls AND Lola feminine care products waiting for me in the locker-room. I have been training with Derek for 6 months, and can honestly say he is the most knowledgeable trainer I have ever worked with. He treats his clients like family, and always is ready to make hard work enjoyable. He continues to push me, but reminds me that every body is different, and that I should simply focus on being my healthiest self. He has offered multiple times to help me meal prep, and always goes above and beyond. I am a lover of group fitness classes, and the amazing J-Love (Jim) is our fearless leader. While tough, he makes the classes fun, and gets to know all of his members. This is a sign of a true leader who cares about the people he trains. I have taken almost every class available to me at Equinox, and can say without a doubt that there is a place for everyone at this gym. Like to run? Join the precision run class. Miss your ballet days? Take a barre class with Amanda and absolutely fall in love. Want cardio and strength at the same time? Take Metcon or Shockwave.....or kettlebell class. Love Soulcycle but hate the price? Take a spin class with Ali and never look back. I also love that there is a beyond juice that can have my order ready for me just as I need to walk out the door in the morning.

Yelp
Nice facility, great equipment and very friendly staff. Definitely recomendable for everyone

Yelp
Horrible place , beware !! I went in to sign up here and took their spin class to try out . The instructor came in with an extremely condescending attitude towards my friend and I , she seemed very annoyed at the fact that we were new to her class . She insisted on adjusting the bike for us and latching on the foot pedal and yelled at us to not touch it because she said we wouldn't know how to do it . Fair enough because we were new , but there was no need for that ugly attitude . The foot pedal attachment where my feet slip in were too large for me ( I have tiny feet ) . While in spin class within the first 15 mnts I fractured my right ankle in two places ( not sure how as it kept getting pulled forward , have taken soul cycle and spin classes as well as OTF classes without any issues for many years now ) . So as I got off the bike and lay on the floor in severe pain , the instructor made faces and made it evident that my fractured ankle and I were a mere nuisance to her life and class . She continued the class thru my misery while someone carried me off the floor and put me in the office . I was in so much pain and they kept coming to me with papers to sign to safe guard themselves with very little regards to what had happened to me . My friend drove me to the ER and I spent the next 4 weeks in extreme pain and did not get back to work , nor could my husband work as he had to stay home to take care of me. Both of us are doctors and this was absolutely horrible behavior and sheer negligence from the gym . Then they kept sending me text messages and emails about how they would love for me to get the membership and they would be oh so generous to waive the initiation fee ( such magnanimous act ) . Never mind the fact that I lost tons of money on lost wages for me and my husband and had to put my two dogs in boarding for two weeks .I am not expecting them to pay me for anything but their attitude towards the whole thing was disgusting . Agreed accidents can happen anywhere to anyone. But this place felt like a cold corporate who only cared about how much money they could suck out of me with no regards to what I had been through. And the spin instructor was a complete bitch to me through this whole episode .. how dare I fracture my bones in her class. I warn you guys .. BEWARE of this place .THIS CAN HAPPEN TO YOU, the pain and suffering I have endured through this, has cost me a lot in terms of time , physical pain and suffering besides so much money. The gym exhibited sheer negligence in many ways and complete disregard towards me . If there is a place that has money hungry pieces of $&&&))/&;);!/@ this is it . But of course if u have money to throw and don't mind being treated like shit despite paying huge $$$ ... this is the perfect place !!

Yelp
This is a beautiful, clean, luxurious health club. They have a complete line-up of excellent classes, including, but not limited to spinning, yoga, interval-type training, and barre. They have all the latest weight machines and free weights, but what I particular like is the cardio section. They have every type of cardio machine along with having spin bikes available to use separate from the ones in the spin room. The locker room is pure luxury with self-locking lockers. The monthly membership is pricey, but it's still less than other Equinox clubs in other cities. The entire club in on one floor with a very open feeling to it.

Marla Z.

Yelp
Great classes. Facility is so much more navigable than Lifetime. No kid programming or camp or pool time ...which cuts down on the chaos if you don't need those services.
google avatar

Jessica K.

Yelp
Love this gym! It's always so clean, the classes are great, they instructors have tons of energy and the whole team is really friendly! It's a little more expensive than most of the gyms around here but you get what you pay for. I'd recommend it to all my workout friends and family!
google avatar

Andy P.

Yelp
Not a fan of this place. Yes it's new and clean. Yes they have most of the equipment anyone could want. But..the vibe is soooooo corporate. I feel like I'm going to work when i go there. Form is way more important than substance at Equinox. Plenty of mirrors fo sho. Today there were 5 people greeting me at the door. Usually I like service...but not if the people are all like robots. Anytime I have a question...they tell me to check the app. Guess what...I dont want another app. Something about this place bugs me....maybe its the monotonous soundtrack and holier than thou attitude. I know...I know...it's a lifestyle...not JUST a health club.

Jillian L.

Yelp
This is just the type of gym that we needed in this area. After going to a bunch of different gyms in the area I decided to check out Equinox and I am so glad that I did. I am a huge workout feen and I wanted to find a gym that offered a variety of classes as well as had an open gym so that I could switch up my workouts and boy am I happy with this one. The classes are great and the facility/amenities are amazing. I highly recommend checking it out.

Yelp
Far and away the best gym I've ever been to. Spotlessly clean, always. The staff there is enthusiastic, delivers outstanding service, and is highly trained (and, you see them attending training classes constantly). Tons of fitness classes, each one better than the next. And it's inspiring to work out in such a stunning, light, open setting surrounded by all these beautiful people. Worth every dollar.
google avatar

Aleiya L.

Yelp
This gym is the kind of place you look forward to being at, even at 6:00 am. Of all the Equinox's I've been to, this is on another level. The space is clean and so beautiful and the staff is always really welcoming. My trainer Valerie Johnson is a PRO, I feel rewarded after ever session. She's so knowledgeable and helped me see results in such a short period of time.

Prapti S.

Yelp
Great gym! Tons of good equipment and the classes are fantastic. I look forward to my workout everyday!

Paul S.

Yelp
Nice gym, not sure if it's worth the money but it's clean and nice and never too crowded really. Only gripe is the old farts who have no gym etiquette. Especially when they take their "breaks" at the station they're working out at. Super annoying...and make no mistake, this place is full of old farts that look like they've never been in a gym before.

Neelam H.

Yelp
Has trouble opening the gym at designated posted times. Perpetually late at opening gym. They need to figure it out

James W.

Yelp
If your looking to work out early don't join here. They are suppose to open at 5am but can't seem to be here on time
