I recently watched a video of a woman outside this store aggressively harassing people walking down the street in front of the business, using foul language and ultimately escalating the situation into physical assault.
One of the people involved was Ari from Ari @ Home, who is well known for walking around NYC and engaging with people in public spaces. I’ve been watching his content for about three years, and in all that time I have never seen him assaulted by anyone. Out of the thousands—likely tens of thousands—of people who have encountered him while he’s filming, this employee of E.R. Butler & Co. appears to be the only person who reacted with such hostility and lack of self-control.
As evidenced in the video, she didn’t just yell or ask him to move along. She screamed, threatened him, and then physically assaulted a member of his crew. This wasn’t a misunderstanding or someone politely asking people to step away from private property—this was an adult completely losing control in public while representing a business.
When someone behaves this way directly in front of a store while clearly associated with that business, it inevitably reflects on the company itself.
So the obvious question is:
Is this the type of behavior E.R. Butler & Co. considers acceptable from its employees?
Is verbally abusing and physically assaulting members of the public consistent with the company’s standards?
Because the now-viral video circulating online certainly makes it look that way.
If this behavior is not representative of the company, then it would be reasonable to expect some kind of response or accountability. As it stands, what people are seeing is an employee of E.R. Butler & Co. publicly attacking people on the street.
