15 Best Sugar Shacks (or Cabanes à Sucre) Near Montreal | Eater Montreal

"This sugar shack in the Montérégie region has been operating under the guidance of the same family for three generations now, and prides itself on its maple menu. There are all-you-can-eat menus of sweet and savoury dishes made up of classic options like pea soup and baked beans, as well as add-ons like a baked maple brie, to enjoy after working up an appetite with a walk through its sizeable maple groves. Prices are $38 per adult, and range from $13.50 to $26 per child, depending on age." - JP Karwacki

Amazing service from everyone, especially the man at the taffy counter, he always had a smile. They were extremely accommodating and the food was excellent. Fair price that includes the entire experience. I loved seeing the donkeys outdoors! Extremely satisfied!!

A quintessential part of any trip to Quebec. A "sugar shack" is a pretty simple premise; a functional maple syrup refining farm almost untouched since the early 70s. It's a rather quiet and unassuming building with a bare bones staff that manages to remain warm and welcoming. It's essentially a prix fixe menu where everyone gets the same thing, though you can opt for coffee or slushies as well. You're treated to a multi course meal of traditional québécois favorites, (everything from pea soup, mini pork rinds, plates of thick cut bacon, tarte au sucre, and pudding chomeur, just to name a few) and a jug of maple syrup to pour over all of it. With the range of treats on hand everyone will find something they like, and then you can top it all off with "tire sur la neige" and the small petting zoo put back. High recommendation.

We enjoy the warm bread with creton, pickles, and coleslaw. The omelette and bacon are good. The soup did not suit our taste. The staff is very friendly. The place has outdoor seating; after your meal, you can enjoy a short ride on the truck. They have a small playground and a few animals for kids to watch.

Great food, amazing vegetarian options. Olivia, our waitress, was the sweetest ever! Great experience overall 🫶

The place is going to become our go to spot! Also, YES the have BACON! The rest of the food is tasty too. They bring the food to your table and they are quick about it. The ambiance is good and the space is very big and you don't feel crowded. They have animals outside and they don't stink. Also, the tire is tasty and sweet. They also have a tractor ride. Everything you need at sugar shack. We will be back!

I was so disappointed 1. We are 5 bring food for 3-4 max not even breed or soup or potatoes eggs etc for each plate. 2. Waitress is over whelm barely remeber to bring stuff back we ask for 3. The dessert cold and the sauce they bring you is barely enough for one dessert. And dessert nothing to brag about 4. Plates on the table for a good 20 min before she clears the table 5. Only time she stayed at the table was when I paid cash and waited for her tip very rude . 6. Nothing was hot and average tasting I don’t recommend it at all Went April 13 at 6 pm sitting table 1 For a bill of 170$ not impress

Probably the best cabane a sucre meal I’ve ever had (and I’ve been to quite a few…) We had the veggie option and it was absolutely spectacular! They replace the meat dishes with veggie substitutes with a modern spin: Brie baked in a maple sauce, and deep fried batter coated soft tofu. The rest of the menu is traditional and absolutely fantastic! Highly recommend. And of course the price includes unlimited taffy on snow (tire), a tractor ride, and the cutest petting zoo (donkey, llama, chickens, mini sheep, mini goats, mini horse). Can’t wait to come back!

We were a group of 5 people and booked our dinner through a website. We arrived there 15 minutes late (due to bad weather + longer route than anticipated) when we arrived, we waiting in the lobby for at another 20 minutes. There was a line up and only one lady at the front. We still decided to have some good time while waiting so we were taking pictures and looking around while waiting in line. When it came to our turn, the lady rudely gave us a seat, telling us that we were late and that normally we wouldn’t get seated. A bit confused with her attitude, we proceed to seat to our assigned table. The table wasn’t cleaned so we needed to call a waiter who came quickly and cleaned the table. We told them we don’t eat pork, and they told us that the food will take more time because of this restriction. The new plates weren’t really clean. Again, we understand and everything is done and said respectfully. However, the food would only come when we would ask, we would need to get up every time we needed a waiter. They gave us soup with bacon in there and a plate of pork rinds with no respect to what we asked them beforehand. The food was not great and the place was expensive! I’m still giving three stars for the animals, and the truck ride. Otherwise, we would’ve been very disappointed.
