After reading glowing reviews from around the web, we decided to try the contemporary flavors of Erbaluce. Sadly, despite excellent and prompt service, the food was simply uninspired. The salmon was cooked perfectly, but underwhelmed by the greens and herbs flanking the fillet. There was nothing wrong with the dish per se; it just was rather flat. For a $30+ entrée, especially from a restaurant with such glowing reputation, I expected more robust and surprising interactions from the elements on my plate.
To their credit, service was fantastic, the waitstaff helpful and prompt, and the the food was out faster than expected. The wine pairing was also exceptional. I am hopeful that the experience we had was a one-off for the kitchen staff, and the experience will be better for other travelers looking for a moderately priced intimate dining experience.
