Eremito Connects You With What Matters Most

"Italy's Eremito all but brags about having the smallest hotel rooms in Europe, calling them “celluzze” — cells meant to evoke the ascetic living of a monastery... Eremito is part of theMICHELIN Guide hotel selection... on the periphery of 3,000 hectares of protected Italian forest...rebuilt to contemporary standards of safety and sustainability... monastic rooms are just nine square meters... Dinner is served... Electricity is discouraged and the internet is foreign... caters specifically to solo travelers... Marcello Murzilli, tells MICHELN Guide Hotels... he created the celebrated Hotelito Desconocido... After fourteen years, Murzilli returned to his native Italy... The stone building that hosts Eremito was just a a ruin when he found it... The layout of the structure follows the original footprint... The small rooms are meant to feel ascetic... About halfway between Rome and Florence... In the morning there’s meditation, then yoga, then breakfast... rates at Eremito are affordable... Ascetic as the celluzze are, the wrought-iron bed frames host thick hemp sheets... Bathrooms feature marble sinks and handmade soaps... Meals are all vegetarian, sourced locally if not grown in Eremito’s own garden... The one place you don’t speak is at dinner... Whether you come for a few days or weeks, Eremito is not about exploring the countryside — being here, with yourself, getting to know the perfect strangers around you — that’s the activity... Book Eremito on the MICHELIN Guide." - Mitchell Friedman

I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. The location was beautiful, the food was nourishing and well balanced. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Extra special touches: the well-planned rooms, which felt simply yet luxurious. The grotto jacuzzi. The calm and peaceful energy of the space. Special thanks to Margarita for incredible morning yoga sessions, and to Enzo for the exemplary, delicious food. I was here as part of a retreat, and felt the location was perfect for this type of self-development work. Our group felt that the meals could have been three-course instead of four. Would have been lovely to have hand cream in the communal bathrooms as well.

Very disappointing experience, especially at this price! Felt like a marketing scam fishing for people who are desperate to find some rest and ready to pay too much for what they get... Eremito praises the benefits of silence in their remote place but we had everything but silence. Charging such amount for the remoteness and quietness of a place would at least require to be the garant of such peace. The place is not isolated at all, you can hear everything, including your neighbouring room flushing their toilets. We were unlucky to be there at the same time as a yoga retreat of 10+ women who paid no attention to other hotel guests and did not mind making noise until midnight. It felt like going back to a bad summer camp in high school, with groups being hostile and childish with one another. I am all for remote hotels, and I have been lucky to visit many beautiful remote hotels, but you either charge a lower amount or you provide the service that comes with the price... We didn't even get drinking water in the rooms although it says they would provide it, the public bathrooms on our floor were not cleaned nor looked after, it says no plastic hotel but then you have blue plastic bags used for bathroom bins and lounge chairs made of plastic materials, it says from farm to table but even the herbal teas are processed ones and no effort is made to add a little fresh touch that makes the difference... And the food is, as another person already mentioned in one of the reviews, unimaginative. The silent dinners didn't seem to serve any purpose but marketing ones... Also, the "wall of fame" with all the rewards that the hotel received from magazines and all felt a bit inappropriate in a place that puts forward other values...

I spend 7 magical days at Eremito. Difficult to put into words my experience but I left with a lighter heart, new friends and a vow to return.

Where do we put our phones aside these days? |Well, at this amazing place filled with love and beauty. In all its purity. Surrounded by lovely people, nature, silence , books, stunning food and deep conversations. The staff is incredibly helpful. They all make you feel at home. It is a luxurious treat without losing sight of the essence. Eremito is an unique place in this world outside the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Hotel of the soul lives up to its name. I am very grateful for this experience!!

The photos say all that there is to know about the beauty of the Eremito and the natural surroundings so I will share about being at Eremito was healing to my body and mind. I came alone to take a break for myself. I needed time to feel. It took me a day to settle and slow down from the regular rhythms of daily life, but then I was able to enter into a state of inner quiet and peace that I have not felt for a very long time. I appreciated so much the simplicity that was reflected in the Eremito: the rooms, the decor, the meals, the candles, the simple routine. It helped be to get in touch with what is essential to me and I have taken this home with me after my trip. I will definitely be back. Thank you!

I went to Eremito as I was looking for a peaceful spot in nature, away from busy life. I could not have chosen better!|Everyone, both the hotel hosts and the guests, were incredibly friendly and welcoming... It never felt lonely as I met incredible people!|The nature just invites you to relax and live in the present! There are great hikes around Eremito and the river in the proximity is super inviting for a swim!|While your room is like a modest cell, it is pleasant, comfortable and very clean, with gorgeous views! |The spa area is also lovely and relaxing after long walks with a jacuzzi and steam room... |Every meal was a treat! Breakfast was a buffet of local delicacies, served by the hotel hosts (due to COVID). The multi courses lunch and dinner were always great, varied and all products just taste amazing! I am not a vegetarian but enjoyed a few days of being a vegetarian! The silent dinner means you can get your thoughts together and really taste and enjoy the quality of the homemade cuisine with local organic products! The Gregorian background music is very calming too!|I left Eremito feeling recharged and feeling like I had a few days in a magical place!

Well, what can you say. From the train station up the dirt track and you leave the noisy world. Eremito is balm for the soul. A truly unique place! The place itself is a wow, and the views over the woods are breathtaking. And the people make the place! Thanks for sharing your home with me, Marcello. Grazie mille.

Eremito is a very special place ... You blink with your eyes and it's a millionaires resort, you blink again with your eyes and it's a spartan monastery. It has a monk's rhythm but no pressure. The lunch and the silent dinner are excellent "as if an angel is peeing over your tongue". A romantic fireplace for tranquillising with a book. The bath area has been refurbished with a Turkish sauna and a pool / Jacuzzi. The surrounding are is great for walking. The rooms are small but has everything you need. This visit was my second time… just for one night … I really recommend staying at least 2 or 3 night … so I will return.
