As a long-time fan of the Erewhon brand and someone who’s visited many of their other locations, I was excited to check out the new Erewhon in Manhattan Beach — and it did not disappoint!
Open for about two months now, this location is 15-minute drive from the beach. It's noticeably larger than several of their other stores, which gives it a more open and airy feel. Despite visiting on a Sunday afternoon, it wasn’t overly crowded — a pleasant surprise compared to other Erewhons I’ve been to.
The staff was super friendly and helpful, and the variety at the food and smoothie bar was excellent, as always. One standout feature here is the dedicated pizza station — you can customize your own pizzas, which is a nice, unique touch. They also had a solid selection of Erewhon merch, including some exclusive Manhattan Beach gear that fans of the brand will appreciate.
The store is part of a well-located shopping complex with other great spots like Trader Joe’s, BevMo, and REI — making it a convenient stop. There’s a nice outdoor seating area to enjoy your food, EV chargers right outside, and even a spot to lock up bikes.
A couple of downsides worth noting: the men's restroom was poorly designed — only two stalls and no urinals, which led to a bit of a wait. (Oddly, there was no line for the women’s restroom.) Also, checkout was a bit slow, though the staff stayed friendly and courteous throughout.
Overall, this is a very welcome addition to the Erewhon family. While I do wish it was a bit closer to the actual beach, it still makes for a solid destination with great amenities and a clean, spacious vibe. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!
