Erewhon Manhattan Beach - Review - Manhattan Beach - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Erewhon’s Manhattan Beach expansion is a real dip into suburbia, even more so than Calabasas. The South Bay location is connected to an Office Depot and shares a shopping center with back-to-school favorites like Old Navy and Barnes & Noble. Not that that’s a deal breaker—there's ample parking, and if you’ve got a thing for real estate bros walking around in pleated khakis, you’ll leave satiated. But outside of that, the MB location is pretty by-the-books. The hot bar has no location-unique dishes, the smoothie bar is a total bottleneck, and despite the relatively large interior, the cash register area is cramped from all the people weaving through an aisle of vegan chocolate." - Brant Cox

The Baseline: For a grocery store it must have a wide selection of items, the produce/bakery/meat selections must be fresh, the store aisles need to be clean/organized, the traffic flow must be logical, the prices must reflect the value, and the service from staff must be good. Food: This is a higher end grocery end grocery store based on providing clean/single sourced/regenerative/organic/etc. foods. You will not find a lot of production foods with the chemical ingredients here (aka no Little Debbie, Kellogs, Kraft, etc.) that are all to common to American diets. The food bar areas have a lot of fresh cooked foods and I didn’t see an over-abundance of fried foods (aka chicken strips). There is also a smoothie bar here as well that is very busy. Service: All the store staff were friendly and helpful looking for items we came in for. Register check was quick and efficient. We also signed up for the EREWHON yearly membership (includes a monthly smoothie and 10% off). Ambiance: The aisles were clean and fully stocked (note this was day 2 of being open). The layout is a complete grid and the aisle sizes allows for 2 carts to pass by comfortably. Price: This is a higher end grocery store but there will be items here that you will not find in most other grocery stores. The price is also reflective on quality when it comes to less mass produced food items, regenerative foods, and single sourced foods. There is a $20 smoothie available.

We are so excited to have a Manhattan Beach Erewhon! After years of driving from MB to Venice I can finally get my goods in less than a few minutes. I went on opening day so it was crazy but this Erewhon is the best one yet! It’s giant, aisles are big and options are unlimited.

Very nice and helpful staff. The store is very nice and orderly. The place reminded me of just about every upscale grocer (world wide) I’ve been to with the exception that the vendors here are unique and some I’ve never seen. It’s just that: The Hailey Bieber shake was not worth $20~. Best, a $10.00 Jamba Juice would have sufficed. Having to wait such a long time for a shake was not a plus. Kind of lent its hand into it not being worth the wait. **The Shake you should know has vanilla stevia extract which is something I didn’t realize at the time and probably why I hated the shake so much ** Real sugar or bust. The burger although made of high quality ingredients, so I’ve generally read, tasted like meat with hydrogenated oil based cheese. Also not worth the $20.00~ The ketchup tasted like sweet viscous gazpacho. Wasn’t bad. The secret sauce tasted like canes sauce. Not much of a secret. The drink selection, although vast, lacked a selection of drinks without artificial sugars and sugar substitutes. Not accounting for the various types of waters. It did not live up to the media’s hype. You shop here because of trends, aEsThEtIcs and status. Although I can afford to shop here, regularly. I’d feel like a sucker paying 5x for produce or anything else here. I personally don’t like feeling like I’m being hoodwinked. The store and brand are well done. The logistics of it all must be complex and very tedious. I applaud you as a company for that. Just not my thing.

Google
Fun to have an erewhon here, this was my first time going! My main complaint is that they need a better system when calling out the drink orders. They weren’t checking so someone took my drink which was a little annoying after already waiting 15 minutes for a smoothie. They have a text system for drink updates, but I didn’t notice it being relied on. Either way to me erewhon is more of a tourist attraction than anything, so it was fun to try.

New Erewhon Manhattan beach deliver same quality products as other Erewhon’s groceries. There is no seating option as now, beside like in Beverly Hills or Studio City for example.

Google
We got the classic blue smoothie and the Hailey Bieber smoothie. NOT WORTH IT. The HB smoothie wasn't too bad but it got old fast and the blue smoothie was just not good. Tasted like dirt, honestly. We waited probably 15 min for our smoothies and I was so excited to try them (we are from out of state and I've seen them everywhere online) and we were so sad we spent a collective $40 on these two smoothies. I also had an intense tummy ache with a some poops 2 hours after this- it hurt BAD. There's just too much going on in these smoothies. This was the only thing I'd had today. They do NOT live up to the hype! Save your monies!!!

Google
The store was well organized, the pizza was a great value with a wide selection of options, and the slices were generously sized. The sushi was delicious, and everyone inside was helpful and welcoming. The only issue was a staff member wiping our table while we were still eating outside. It felt intrusive and, honestly, a bit prejudiced, as we noticed this did not happen to other guests who were not people of color. This moment detracted from an otherwise positive experience.

If you're familiar with this chain you know what to expect, but if not it's a status symbol grocery store that sells very nice but very expensive groceries. If you want to buy nice groceries at a more reasonable price, go to lazy acres.

Yelp
I am a grocery store enthusiast so when I heard about Erewhon I knew I had to make my pilgrimage! Already knowing the lowdown about this luxury grocery chain, I wasn't too sticker shocked at the prices. However, it's definitely a cut above even Whole Foods prices. Some of the small plates and hot foods that you can buy at Whole Foods for 10-20 dollars for an entree are more like 30-50 dollars at erewhon. I found that the actual grocery section seemed reasonable. There are a lot of items that look familiar from visits to Ralph's, Vons, etc. I did notice that many items were smaller than usual or more expensive than at other grocery stores, despite being the same prepackaged item. The hot bar area was where erewhon shone! The food was mouthwatering in appearance and smelled divine. I decided on a salad (they have so many delicious looking salads!), a coconut cream panna cotta, and of course the famous Hailey Bieber smoothie. The smoothie came out after about 15 minutes . There was a bit of a rush at this time and while I was waiting I saw about 15 other Hailey Bieber smoothies being made and picked up. It seems like this is the standout item at erewhon for sure. The other smoothies looked amazing too, especially the blue colored ones. It's a bit pricey for what it is, though the flavor and ingredients are unique-- I found the smoothie wasn't too sweet, and had a strong fresh strawberry and banana flavor. The taste of the dates and maple syrup added an earthy tinge of sweetness. I could not taste the sea moss, coconut cream, or avocado at all. The smoothie was really heavy and I decided to save half of it for the next day (even though im normally a big eater). I wasn't as happy with the panna cotta-- it didn't have the right texture and was a bit grainy. Rather than being like a gelatin dessert, it was more like a paste. I thought the blueberries on top were an adorable touch though. Haven't tried the salad yet but definitely think it looks delicious!!!

Yelp
I arrived at Erewhon around 6:50 AM knowing they open at 7, so I waited. I was first in line for smoothies as soon as they opened. I placed my order right away, then stepped aside to figure out what I wanted for lunch. I picked out my lunch, paid, and expected my smoothie to be close to ready. By 7:10, my drink still hadn't come out. The staff were still prepping ingredients, which I understand, but the store had already been open for a while. What made it worse was watching a crowd of people walk in after me, clearly fresh from a workout, and somehow their Hailey Bieber smoothies and other orders were coming out before mine. At 7:15, I was finally told they had to re-blend my smoothie. There was a quick apology, but no clear explanation. This experience felt uncoordinated and chaotic. For a place that charges premium prices and markets itself on high standards, the service really missed the mark this morning.

Yelp
Who remembers this location as Fresh n Easy?! Well, same concept and layout, just prettier and fancy. Was it worth the hype? Yes and no. Gave it a few weeks to let the crowds die down a bit. It's beautiful inside. Staff is nice, friendly, helpful. Shelves are beautifully stocked. Some items are reasonable priced, some items are just ridiculously expensive for no reason. The Hailey smoothie only took 15 minutes from order to delivery. Great tasting, good quality ingredients, but not worth $23 with tip. Would I try other smoothies and the hot foods next time? Maybe. Got Creatine for $16.99 on sale. Seems like a good deal, considering I've paid a lot more at Sprouts. As an LA/Southbay native, felt like I had to see what the hype was.

Yelp
Please note, this review is from a window-shopper's point of view... This was our first visit to any Erewhon and I still don't know how to pronounce it. Absolutely beautiful store. Very clean, very colorful store, and very friendly and helpful staff. If you usually shop at a Ralphs or Vons type of store, you might feel like you're in a different country. So many brands and specialty items that you might not recognize a brand name for a couple of asiles. Fairly high appearance and very high service brings higher prices as well. But, it was fun to walk around in and there were lots of people filling their carts. Bring your reading glasses and extra funds and...enjoy!

Yelp
Cool Erewhon, very conveniently located, and decent size. The selection is similar to other locations, and this time I had Hailey Bieber soft serve, which I loved. Similar to the smoothie but very delicious. Also love, there, coffee, and food selection.

Yelp
Stopped by to try out the Travis Scott Storm Storm smoothie and it was pretty busy. I got in line to place my order on the tablet and the line moved slowly. The $22 smoothie consists of the following ingredients: Agua de Kefir Dragon Fruit Fresa, MALK Organic Coconut Milk, Sun Chlorella, Cocoyo Raw Coconut Yogurt Piña Colada, Magic Mind Mental Performance Shot, Ancient Nutrition Multi-Collagen Advanced Hydrate Lemon Lime, organic lemon and lime juice, pineapple, banana, and chlorophyll. Waited about 15 minutes and my name was finally called out. I took a quick sip and the smoothie was refreshing and tasted good. The store was very busy and definitely not cart friendly at this time. There was a lot of people standing around everywhere and only a few were actually grocery shopping. The store was clean and organized.

Yelp
Was in LA for the weekend from San Diego. Of course I finally got to try the Hailey Bieber smoothie!! 10/10 ! Was it with $20, yes. Service was fast and friendly. It was my first time in this store and it reminded me a fancier version of trader Joe's lol. Super big inside!

Yelp
I have real mixed feelings about Erewhon. On one hand, the beautifully merchandising style (gorgeous produce & wine cooler = magazine ready) but the practical side of me cannot phantom paying $11 for coconut cream! They had $60+ candles and I can go on and on. My friends bought a few things to try like some dried fruits. The bottom line is a lot of the products you can get from Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and even Costco for ALOT less. If there are private labels or top of the line rare items that you can only find there, ok but I didn't see anything I could not live without. After all if FoodSakAvenue is what you want from your local grocery store then this is your place.

Yelp
Erewhon is now in the South Bay! I was intrigued (and admittedly excited) when I saw Erewhon would be opening up in Manhattan Beach. They took over the spot that was previously housed by Mother's Market and they just had their grand opening yesterday! The popularity of this luxury grocery store is insane! Day 1, the line was wrapped around the building. Today on the second day, there was no longer a long outside line but the parking was packed! They had plenty of employees inside helping folks out and they were doing their best to help the lines move efficiently. I chose to go the the Hot Bar first. I was torn between getting a combo plate or a burrito or a chicken pot pie. I ended up getting the chicken pot for $16.50. Next up I went to their famous Erewhon Tonic Bar! This is where all the cool kids hang out ;). It honestly seemed like the whole town was there to buy smoothies. I opted to go with the self serve ordering iPad versus ordering at the counter. I thought this was a pretty efficient way to order. They basically sent me a text once I placed my order and when the order was ready, they texted me again. For my drink, I chose to get their Amino Acid Trip Smoothie for $13. Since it was my first time ever to visit an Erewhon, I was definitely excited to see how everything tasted. My expectations were high for the smoothie! The smoothie was good and I could definitely taste the yuzu flavoring. It definitely had a pineapple kick too. I must admit I couldn't really taste too much of a difference thought between other smoothies from other cafes (ahh don't hate me for saying it!). The smoothie was flavorful but nothing too distinctly different taste wise! Though with this smoothie being made with organic oat milk and coconut cream; I can definitely see why the smoothies here can be more on the pricey side. It's all about fresh and quality ingredients! As for the chicken pot pie, I was definitely impressed. I loved the buttery crust and saucy filling of chicken, potatoes and carrots. It was a large pot pie too and I was able to split it into two meals! It was a good first visit and I do want to visit again! TBD if I'll get one of the famous $20+ celebrity smoothies! I'm definitely glad I got to try their smoothie and food for the first time today and I'm happy to have this location in the South Bay!

Yelp
For a small store, the selection is pretty good, this location is carrying all the most popular things, and it is crazy busy. Maybe because it's newly openned. I really like the deli, I had the miso black cod and it was delicious. It looked a little "old". But apperences can be decieving. I was thinking it was dry, but not at all. A delicious piece of fish which I couldn't have made myself better. I'm glad it's placed on this collard green leaf. It held the oil and flavor. My sides were fried rice and power greens. The fried rice is definitely something I wall have to pass on in the future. Mild flavor and dry. The power greens were pretty delicious and a double side of that still wouldn't be enough. The whole meal was a combo and the price was $33 a pound. The weight was .64. it cost $21.24 plus tax I think. I'd say it's worth it and there's value there because it was delicious. However, I probably wouldn't choose a chicken or pork entrée at that price.

Yelp
Insane line for the opening of Manhattan Beach store, Erewhon's first in the South Bay! On opening Day, July 2nd, they offered complimentary lattes and flowers, a custom Manhattan Beach-themed smoothie for purchase, and limited edition tote bags for the first 150 customers (who spend $250!!!) While I'm not a big fan of their $19+ smoothies, I'm a fan of their soups (comes in a glass jar that you pay an additional $1-2 per jar but you get it back if you recycle it back to the store, as store credit or cash back). Also a fan of their protein bowl from the tonic bar. I've enjoyed their hot bar service and friendly folks, and their health day events where they have free samples. Decent amount of parking around the store.

Yelp
I went to the MB Erewhon in Day 2. Wow I forgot that the Harry's Berries are $25 for a 16 ounces. I think they were cheaper in the Palisades! The line for the smoothies was outrageous- 3 lines with about 10 people in each line - I couldn't wait in that line. The line for the hot food was also too long - I forgot that nearly everyone in Manhattan Beach eats out, but I know that the hot food at Erewhon is pretty good, but pricey. The food cases didn't have my spicy tuna crispy rice or the brown rice balls, I'm assuming they will eventually stock that.

Yelp
If you haven't heard of Erewhon yet you may be living under a rock. Erewhon is so on brand with a certain LA stereotype, haling itself as the grocery designer store. Forget keeping up with the Joneses; we're here to clobber them. Unlike most Erewhon locations with tiny parking lots and valet, this one has significantly more parking spots and it's free. Additionally, the store itself is much bigger than most which is a huge plus. When you go inside you are transported into a different world. The smell of a higher tax bracket is in the air, mixed with candles of unicorns and aura crystals. Jokes aside, at least this location is slightly bigger and more modern than most so it's not as cramped, though it still kind of is. They've definitely elevated the ordinary grocery store experience to something; don't want to be confused and mixed up with the poors and too-commercial whole foods shoppers, you know? Depending on when you go, anywhere between 10 and 50 percent of shoppers are just there for the food court, mostly to have the honor to have their lips blessed by those bougie $20+ smoothies. If you went to Erewhon and didn't get a Hailey Bieber smoothie, did you even go? Jokes on us because they have such strong brand recognition, they are probably charging their suppliers an inclusion fee to proudly list them as part of the ingredients. Not many can boast the same level of cultural cachet. The staff is extremely friendly and likely underwent intense training which surely prepared them to masterfully deal with any do-you-know-who-l-am Karen and diffuse the situation by assuring them they are indeed the most important person in the world. As a bonus, you'll get to practice your valley girl accent, like oh my god like literally no joke, I'm so dead right now... So you may be asking if those smoothies are worth the exorbitant prices but that would be the wrong question. Going back to the analogy with designer brands - many charge not based on how much it costs to make the garment but what the market would bear; the price is not so much a byproduct of the means of production but the main deterrent helping to weed out the other in order to form the it crowd (some may call it the fan base, others a cult). So when someone is rocking the $150+ Erewhon tote bag, it's not because they thought it cost more than $15 to produce but because having it is used a signal to others about their status and values.

Yelp
erewhon has finally opened its doors! a closer erewhon to me and prolly a lot of ppl, now we dont need to drive to the heavily trafficked parts of LA .. ANDDD there is freeeee parking!!! overpriced, highly addictive, gorgeous and aesthetically pleasing products live here. they also sell their iconic totes and hats! came here on the first day of their grand opening. they were giving away their MB shopper bag in mist blue, this time around it was free with $250 purchase, which is so easy here..i think it was for the first 100 or 150 ppl would met the qualifying purchase but my visit was after 5pm, no line to get in, but still so hectic inside. all hands on deck and ppl everywhere. i will be back to check out their cafe, but the end of that line was basically at the start of checkout i ended up getting 2 slices of pizza, pepperoni and this mushroom one; a couple saint james teas, waygu chews for apollo and pistachio almond butter and a couple pastries as i was going through the checkout line ..total: $76 erewhon has two memberships, plus $200/yr; cafe $100/yr service was okay, seemed like some of the employees were stressed out lol and some were just socializing check out was easy parking: no issues and free . erewhon took over mother's market, next to office depot there is also a cute little patio outside!

Yelp
Did a quick stop for the $22 Travis Scott smoothie. It was really busy in the smoothie area and it took about 25 minutes from when I arrived to when I got my smoothie. The smoothie was good and the store was organized and clean.

Yelp
Wow wow... Had to check out the craze that this place has and glad we have one close to our home now. As you enter you see the organization of this place everywhere and it's such a satisfying thing. From the fruits and veggies, the Jar Goods and the juices and everything they have is just impeccable. It's just a sense of happiness that enters your body. There are some good things you can find here some are a bit pricy but they are good quality so that's what you paid for. The line for the smoothies was just beyond dumb and don't understand the hype over a very expensive smoothie that I can make at home but that's just me. The staff here were very helpful as you enter and in every area there was someone if you had a question. I was happy with what I bought some stuff I can't justify the price but that's just me. Overall experience was great can't wait to go back and grab other items that looked fun.

Yelp
I was super excited for there to be an Erewhon in the South Bay! I've been to other locations before and expected everything to be expensive since it's definitely a luxury grocery store. I got the Hailey Bieber Smoothie for $20 and Buffalo Cauliflower, Teriyaki Chicken, and Mac n Cheese Plate for $41. I did split the plate with my friend, but wow is that expensive. I would give the smoothie a 10/10 if it weren't so expensive, so this is definitely a once in a while kinda of spend. The wait for the smoothie was pretty long so I'd recommend ordering ahead. I really liked the Buffalo cauliflower and Teriyaki chicken, but the Mac n Cheese was pretty regular. Overall, definitely not an every day kinda of spend but nice if you want to treat yourself.

Yelp
Finally a close by Erewhon in South Bay! This spot used to be Mothers supermarket but they completely renovated. It is completely unrecognizable when we walked in - super clean, modern, and well stocked. It just opened, so expect alot of people and lines for the hot bar and smoothie area. Parking was fairly easy as people are going in and out quick. I tried their hot bar for the first time and will say it's pricey, but good. Will definitely order once in a while to treat myself. What I got: - buffalo cauliflower - probably my favorite!! Advise to eat while it's fresh and hot. If you're taking it home, make sure to microwave it again. - taquitos - super crunchy and I liked the salsa they give you. Green one is surprisingly more spicy. - Brussels sprouts - super good too!! Eat it while it's hot.

Yelp
Never thought I'd call a grocery store " designer " but if you were to look up that definition in the dictionary you would probably see a picture of Erewhon. Very high end trendy market. In the days of inflation and outrageous pricing I'd say a smoothie from here is definitely something to call a splurge, but well worth it in all honesty. It's healthy and whole ingredients and they taste amazing. The place was fully stocked, very clean and not one worker was sitting around doing nothing. We were greeted and welcomed into the market and also asked if we needed any assistance while waiting to order. Spoke to a few people as the lines were a bit long and ran into alot of first timers as well. Over all I'd definitely recommend if you're a smoothie drinker. We ordered the sun sand and sea smoothie! Did not disappoint. Had pineapple and mango! It was refreshing and tropical. Will be returning soon I'd like to try all of them.

Yelp
Please disregard any negative reviews of people who have never shopped or eaten here and only form their opinions from what they see on social media. I've been shopping at Erewhon for years at their other stores and am also a member, and ecstatic now that they finally have a location here in MB! I've visited almost every single day since they opened. Yes, it's expensive, trendy, and crowded. But everything in their store is also high quality, organic, non-GMO, and regeneratively farmed. As someone who eats clean and healthy, I appreciate that I can pick up any one of their prepared food items and it will be simple, clean ingredients. Like many Erewhon regulars, I come here mainly for the hot bar/tonic bar/prepared foods and juices. Some of my faves: miso black cod, wild roasted salmon, coconut lamb curry, Caribbean jerk chicken, pork pachamama pasta, eggplant turmeric lasagna, buffalo cauliflower, butternut squash bone broth, matcha overnight oats, and all their cold pressed juices that have been some of the best I've ever had. If you can find me this variety of items with the same quality and deliciousness for cheaper I'll be happy to go there. Pro tip: if you're ordering a smoothie or coffee from the tonic bar make sure you order ahead on the app so you're not on Yelp complaining that you had to wait 40 minutes for a smoothie.

Yelp
got to check out the newly opened Erewhon in Manhattan Beach yesterday. I really just went there to pick up a smoothie before work, so I ordered on the app. now upon getting there, I saw there were two doors in front, but neither of them had any wording to signify one was an "entrance" and one was an "exit." so you'd think it's either one... I went in the right side, only to be met with a hostile tone from one of the greeters: YOU ENTER THROUGH THE OTHER DOOR. I stepped back outside, checked again, motioned to her and said "well there's no signs that say that..." and entered through the "proper" door. I understand wanting customers to go in through the right entrance and exit doors, but when you guys literally haven't put ANY signage up stating which is which, it doesn't make sense to get mad and nearly berate customers for not automatically knowing we can't just walk in either door. a better idea would be to have the greeters standing outside showing people which door is which, or at least putting up a temporary sign. maybe the next time I go she won't be giving customers such a rude tone, but that really brought down my rating for this location.
google avatar

MC G.

Yelp
Way too expensive here for what you get. I went a few days after opening and it was still packed, but that isn't what bothered me. I know the prices at other stores and things are about double. The prepared section foods didn't look appetizing enough to pay what they are charging. I also wouldn't buy any of their non-food. Again, they are overpriced and not based on reputable scientific studies. This place only survives because it is trendy.

Yelp
First off I've been going to Erewhon for about thirty plus years (thanks to my parents) and I am SO glad that they have added a South Bay location finally! This location is more spacious than the Fairfax location which is where my parents used to go in the 90s. They have outdoor seating which is perfect for your hot food items and beverages. The food is plentiful, healthy, and fresh. At the hot bar they let you sample in order to narrow down your choices. The juice bar accepts credit cards, Apple Pay, and debit cards. I enjoy the kiosk to order which makes it go by quicker. I am obsessed with Erewhon and the workers there are very helpful and friendly when you need to navigate through the store. Thank you guys for adding Erewhon to the SB!
google avatar

Julie F.

Yelp
I remember when this location was a Fresh and Easy years ago. This Erewhon is definitely bigger and more spacious than the Culver City one. It wasn't difficult finding a parking spot when I went, but I imagine during lunch time and weekends parking could be challenging. The prepared food area including the hot bar and the tonic bar with the smoothies was the most crowded with people all around. If you come, be prepared to dodge people and don't be in a hurry.

Yelp
The team at Erwhon reached out twice to try to refund me for the incorrect product I received with my pickup order. I appreciate the effort, but I wish there were a better process for refunds. Most stores will automatically refund the card you use to pay. I would have even been okay with store credit. With everything going on these days, I'm not comfortable calling the store and giving someone my card number to get a refund. The other option is to go back inside the store. Sometimes, it is just not feasible to go back into the store, especially with a time-consuming job in the education field, family responsibilities, etc. That is the main reason for using store pickup to save time. Overall, I like this store, but I hate the way they handle refunds.

Yelp
Thank you for reaching out to me and correcting the situation. It meant a lot for me finally being heard after being ignored for over a week. That being said, I hope erewhon uses this experience as an opportunity to improve event organization moving forward. I was among the first few people in line that morning. I even spent a significant amount on uber all to not walk out with anything that day due to lack of staff competence and card reader malfunctions. Thank you again for your time. I hope erewhon continues to improve for the customers, especially for us who trust in the brand.

Yelp
Got a Hailey Bieber Smoothie & Matcha Smoothie with my gf. Both were great as usual, but my gf had plastic in her smoothie as pictured.

Yelp
Beautiful location with ample amount of parking. One of the biggest cafe and tonic bar areas in the back of the store. Super sleek design of the store as well and nothing but good vibes from the staff. Looking forward to coming back to their hot bar & delicious smoothies!

Yelp
I tried the sun, sand, and sea smoothie at this location. It was very delicious, and very worthwhile. For me the service was top notch they managed to keep the smoothies coming at a fast rate even with the long lines they kept it moving. The ambiance was immaculate, it was incredible clean and sleek.

Yelp
Went to this location for the first time and while I found the interior and actual set up of the store a lot nicer than the Silverlake location, the service was so freaking poor. I ordered a smoothie and I got the notification that it was ready, but I didn't see it out on the bar. So I wait, and I see the lady who ordered ahead of me get hers so I think, okay cool I should be coming up soon. A couple minutes pass and other people have gotten their drinks and mine has not shown up. I go up to one of the workers to ask about my order and she goes back to check and she says theyre still working on it. So I continue to wait. And wait. And wait. More drinks come out. The flavor of smoothie I ordered even came out, but guess what. It wasnt for me. So at this point Im pissed, I've been standing right up by the bar and no one asked if I've been helped or if I was waiting for something. Like if you see someone hovering by you, staring into the kitchen, you'd assume they may be waiting for something right?! So I go up and ask the same girl for a second time where my drink is. She goes to the back and she's asking a bunch of different people about it. She comes back to say my order got knocked off their screen and they're going to start making it now. So 30 minutes later.... I finally have my damn smoothie. Get it together Erewhon.

Yelp
The hot bar is good but the coffee bar is subpar. I'd rate my coffee a 5/10. I don't think it's better than goodboybobs or phillz. It's on par with Starbucks. Don't feel it was worth the wait. All of the staff are nice

Yelp
Knew about Erewhon via social media etc and even tried to go to the location in Santa Monica but the parking lot was a zoo. When it came to MB was curious to check it out. It does live up to its reputation of being wayyyyyy overpriced but what isn't in MB. Parking lot situation much better. As other reviews have mentioned, hot food a smoothie long waits and crowded. One bright spot is they had organic sourdough rye, minimal ingredients, no seed oils which was Erewhon brand, so I guess they bake inhouse. Only thing I bought for $7.50 for like 3/4 of a regular loaf but not complaining. It did not have the nutritional label with calories and macros which I thought was required but, in any case, employees had no idea when I asked about it except for the cashier who was trying to look it up online ..never mind. Just ring me up. I would go back for the bread even at that price but doubt I would purchase anything else there. Bristol Farms, Gelsons, Lazy Acres or even Sprouts has as good quality products for less. Given the fact that I knew going in what to expect, I can give them 4 stars as I have been searching for a healthy Rye bread and the staff was friendly.

Yelp
Gorgeous and we all know it's in the pricier side but a GREAT addition to our South Bay grocery store network.

Yelp
Crowded Overpriced Stressful - loud - my baby was not a fan Dark Doesn't have much produce to choose from You will be asked every aisle if you need help The people there.. definitely not southbay locals .. almost everyone there acts like they have a stick you know where .. ugh so disappointing I'll stick to lazy and Bristol

Yelp
This location is very spacious, which is much bigger than the Pasadena one close to my house. Love the layout of the store as it was easy to browse. I got there around lunch time. Even though there was a crowd and lines for everything, they went pretty quickly. I was able to find a parking spot close to the entrance. Found the items I wanted to buy quickly. Only spent about 30 min for the smoothie. It came out nice & accurate. Checkout was fast as well. Would come back to this location as there are interesting stores in the same plaza. Friendly employees that were very helpful.

Yelp
I'm convinced that this place is a social experiment along the lines of Balenciaga to see how much money people are willing to pay to feel elite. The absurdity of their prices is just mind numbing. And I'm not talking about their proprietary products... I get it, there isn't really an apples to apples comparison if they are selling something that is their brand or formula. But for instance, Trader Joe's, right across the parking lot, has the exact same brand of organic brown rice cakes. Trader Joe's is selling them for $3.49 a pack... While Erewhon is selling them for $5.49 a pack. This is the exact same case with several other non-Erewhon branded products. I came in to just give it a try and see what the fuss was all about, walked out two dozen eggs, two loaves of bread, a pack of crackers, and a bag of chips later for $85. There's no reason to shop here, unless you want to pay $30 for a smoothie, pay $50 for lunch from the hot bar, or just get completely ripped off in any other number of ways. But with Bristol Farms, Trader Joe's, and several other grocery stores just a stones throw away, I'm convinced that if you shop here, you're either financially irresponsible, or just dumb.

Yelp
My two star review is for the Erewhon Miso Black Cod. First of all, there was way too much miso on my fish which made it extremely salty! Black cod is an expensive but delicious cut of fish, and it was extremely disappointing that I could barely finish it as it was so salty due to the overuse of miso. To give you an idea of how much miso was on my fish, when I took a bite of fish there was something with the texture of mashed potatoes or purée on the fish, but turned out to be miso! That's how much miso was used. My advice to the chef is to please use miso sparingly. Miso should enhance the flavor of the fish, not overpower it.

Yelp
Favorite Erewhon that I've been to so far. Great customer service. Every person working there that I've interacted with has had such a great attitude and been so helpful. Love the layout and ambiance of the store. Plus so many great products.

Yelp
Smoothie took 45 mins was the 4th person in the store... this place blows! Hire new smoothie makers they are so slow. It doesn't take 45 mins to make a smoothie.
