I came here on recommendations from my BIL going home from our Lake Tahoe trip. Unfortunately, their sandwich bar was closed by the time we arrived and sold out of their premade cold sandwiches. Truly, I was devastated. HE kept raving about them, so I was looking to try them out, but we came pretty close to closing time so it's understandable.
They had a lot of bakery items in stock though. I grabbed a loaf of sourdough bread, a variety of cookies, a large cannoli, and large chocolate cream puff.
Unfortunately...My husband ate all of the cookies. He said they were good though! I got a bite of their peanut butter cookie, and I thought it was fine. A bit too chewy for my tastes, but perhaps it tastes better fresh or reheated.
The cannoli was not what I was expecting, but not in a bad way. They use a sweet, toffee like candy for their shell, so this cannoli is much sweeter than I'm used to. It's good and seems to not at all be like a standard Italian cannoli, but good in its own way. Cream on the inside is also good, but again a bit too sugary for me.
The cream puff was good. The whipped cream was sugary and dense. I prefer light and fluffy, but this was still good. Thought the pastry portion was just fine.
The highlight was definitely the sourdough bread. Brought this home, toasted it, and made a sandwich with it. It's very delicious! Toasts well, and the flavor stands out even with all of the sandwich toppings inside. Would highly recommend getting this, and would pick it up again myself.
All in all, solid bakery. Will definitely be back if I ever pass by to try their sandwiches and other items.
