"This Art Deco style cinema opened in 1938, and has been a part of Bombay’s iconic heritage since. It stands tall right opposite Churchgate Station as lakhs of citizens pass by and some stop to take a photograph. Made with Agra red stone and with the exterior painted cream, Eros cinema gives a soothing touch to the general chaos you find in the city. After you get past the sea of people, watch a movie here to get transported back to Bombay of the 1920s." - Please See

Tasteful, beauteous refurbishment of an iconic Bombay building. I am yet to watch a film here, but just walking around evoked a childhood of buying paper tickets and Rexene seats. The cinema foyer is a stunning vision of cream and black, clearly much care has been taken on getting the finer details right. A smartly turned out liftman waits to take passengers up to cinema level. There is one screen, a refreshing change to the bigger-the-better multiplex trend. I read somewhere that there's going to be a restaurant space within the complex and await that eagerly.

The 90-year-old heritage landmark & iconic Eros Theatre opposite Churchgate railway station which had closed down 7 years ago in April 2017 finally & very surprisingly re-opened on 16th Feb 2024 as the all new EROS INOX IMAX with the newest IMAX screen (2nd in Town/South Bombay area after PVR IMAX Lower Parel) with Laser projection! This is the ONLY Single Screen IMAX in Bombay as it's renovated from the iconic single screen EROS. Having visited the PVR IMAX in Lower Parel which until now has the largest IMAX screen in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane (excluding Wadala IMAX as that's closed down sadly), I'd say this new IMAX screen comes to a close second in terms of size but stands equally close to the PVR Lower Parel IMAX in overall aspects. I was personally thrilled to visit this theatre and finally visited for the first time for Dune 2... Truly an immersive experience! The audio quality, screen & seating arrangement, laser video projection is superb. The legroom space between each row is just about okay and the seating arrangement is in a way that, if a person in the row ahead stands, it will slightly obstruct the viewing (as it's not exactly stadium seating pattern just like PVR Lower Parel) but again, I'm not complaining as this theatre has been revamped & converted. The 1200-seater single-screen theatre which was located on the Ground floor & extended to the floors above has now been shifted to the second floor as a 305-seater IMAX theatre. Things to improve on: I observed that during the film's screening the Exit door was left open throughout and for some reason, the white lights in the exit passageway were being switched on & off which sometimes came across as a little too distracting. It'd be recommended for the Exit door to be shut during the screening as during dark scenes, the visible light could be seen on the corners of the screen. Comparison from the old with the new: The interior of the audi feature the Art Deco aesthetics from the old Eros theatre. The two hexagonal lifts on either side and the famous staircases leading upstairs have been retained. On the exterior look (facing the road), the iconic Art Deco facade, which served as a prominent landmark continues to boast of red Agra sandstone, cream paint and unforgettable EROS signage — all infused with new life. Having incepted by Parsi businessman Shiavax Cawasji Cambata in 1935, Eros Theatre was designed by architect Sohrabji Bhedwar and was named after the Greek god of love and desire. It opened on February 10, 1938 and was described in Bombay Deco as the epitome of design, style and finish back in the day.

#PVR_INOX elevates Mumbai Cinema with First Standalone IMAX with Laser Theatre Experience 🤩 Remarkable Transformation of the 86-year-old iconic #EROS_CINEMA😍 Great step by PVR INOX towards the preservation of such a legacy monument of Indian cinema. The place itself has a kind of nostalgic feeling once you enter, and it completely takes you to a different era. Keeping the old-school style for the lift, staircase, and overall look n feel, any cinephile will simply fall in love with this renovated architecture. A don't-miss experience that connects history and advanced technology in one place for any cinema lover. LONG LIVE CINEMA 🙌🙌🙌 LONG LIVE HISTORIC CINEMA THEATRES 🙌🙌🙌 #OmkarCinemaDiaries 🎬

Went to this 90 years old heritage to watch Dune part 2. The art decor style is something to marvel at. The screen is really huge...and the sound effect is amazing. Wish the seats could have been more comfortable. A bit compact.

Great new IMAX cinema with laser technology. Only two things to be changed, one is add signs outside at entrance showing where the box office is as the cinema is on the second floor(there's elevators) and other is to add a another door at entrance of Audi 1 (whenever someone enters mid movie the bright lights ruin the immersive experience). Another thing I'd like to add is that it is still single laser and not dual projectors as expected, but in line with other cinemas such as PVRCinemas Phoenix mall theatre. This theatre is not a multiplex. Staff are courteous and friendly. Also one suggestion is they could close or dim the lights for seats arrangements, that would be great as the blue colour reflected on the screen during dark scenes were very visible and hurts the immersive IMAX experience. Sound was loud and crisp. Images were clear and great contrast. Out of all mumbai IMAX screens this one is top 3 with Phoenix being at top as it's the only one that has Recliners inside IMAX and laser tech. Malad probably has slightly bigger screen but it lacks laser technological upgrade.

Beautiful renovation done. It is a single screen Imax with laser projection. The seats have enough leg space and the staff are polite. The ticket prices are little at par or a little less compared to other IMAX theatres in Mumbai. The screen looks worn out in some places, the audio is great but I did not hear any surround sound, not sure if the theatre has it. Overall it is a good theatre and I will visit here again

Mumbai's iconic cinema theatre got a beautiful makeover which definitely has elevated the movie watching experience for Mumbaikars. PVR/INOX certainly retained the charming old facade while ushering in the new.
