The 20 Best Restaurants In St. Helena

"Erosion is all about options, including some you didn’t know you needed. On one side you have a colorful tasting room that doesn’t take itself too seriously with many wines on tap, like Cougar Mom Chardonnay and Afraid of Clowns red. You’ll also find great ice cream like the Shirley Cheesecake with maraschino cherries and graham cracker crust, and some flavors that have wine in the mix. Next door you’ll find a taproom with 35 beers and seltzers on draft, including the Cake Batter at a Brick Wall stout. At the taphouse, try the waffle pretzel sandwich and the queso frijole, and you’ll be ready for wine tasting, take two." - christina julian

Came here with my mom and and friend, it was so fun to do an ice cream flight. Family owned, and so so friendly, loved the decor as well! I would like to come back again and also try the wine bar area!

Google
Awesome up and coming location! Irwin was very personable, knowledgeable and attentive. They also operate the next door creamery. 3 huge screens to watch sports. There's a small food menu and a big selection of coffee and other non-alcoholic items as well. Unisex restroom is through the back on the right. Definitely a must stop for a tap house, winery and sports bar.

Great service! Interesting dishes like a waffle corn dog Good ice cream in a variety of flavors and size Fun novelty items like coloring books, bracelets, and cards Great trivia ticker board with fun questions A variety of seating options with a few rooms

Google
Worth a stop! My husband likes wine but he loves beer. We dropped in on a whim as we walked by and so glad we did! The vibe was chill & laid back. The beer was good and several had a very high alcohol content which can be good or bad. I had a glass of bubbles and enjoyed watching (and smelling) the fresh waffle cones being made. Customer service was on point. We’ll definitely be back here to try the ice cream!

Google
This is a cool space with a variety of beers and wines available. The waffle pretzel with dip is unlike anything I've ever had before. If you're not into wineries, it might be checking out.

Google
Loved our experience here! The wine was good, but the ice cream and the people here was better! Would 100% recommend! Plus they’re open later than 95% of any other tasting bars in the area!

Google
My kind of place!! Let them have their wine! I’ll have a tasting flight of 5 flavors of ice cream !!! And.. everyone else liked their wine and the venue so much! Thank you!

Google
Great spot. One side is a bar, the other is a throwback ice cream shoppe. They also have a bottle shop in the back with 300+ beers. I've been there twice in less than 24 hours, and will probably stop by again before I leave town. If you like beer and/or wine and/or ice cream you should absolutely check it out.

Yelp
What a lovely spot in the heart of Main St, St Helena! Came here on a Saturday afternoon to catch up with a group of friends over coffee, wine, and ice cream. It was amazing that this cute tap house had it all! A friend ordered wine and enjoyed it, while another loved her hot mocha. The rest of us ordered ice cream since we all met up after lunch. The ambience of the tap house is wonderful and service was great!

Yelp
Excellent service, especially as we wanted recommendations for which beers and ice creams work together for floats with our lunch. Cheerful and bright ambiance on the ice cream side of the business where we ate, classy dimmer lighting on the bar side. We both ended up having the Canadian Breakfast Stout for our flights, mine was with horchata ice cream and my partner's was with coffee ice cream. We loved the floats and our lunches were tasty too!

Yelp
Erosion tap house is located on the Main Street of Napa. Nice little spot to grab a quick drink. They have mostly beer; but also wine as well. Next door to the bar ; they have an ice cream shoppe as well. They had a sour ale made with skittles ... very good. Unique and different. I'm not even a beer drinker and loved it. The skittles helped balance out the bitterness from the beer.

Tee N.

Yelp
The food was great and the service was amazing. I want to go back to try their ice creams.

Yelp
Came in here by just waking by and seeing it. Not much if a beer drinker, but found something I liked. They sell these 3.5 oz drafts that are great to try things without committing to a huge glass. The food was really good. I feel like it's stepped up bar food. The staff were very friendly. All of them checked on us to see if we were good but at the same time it felt like a totally chill place in a town I usually feel is kinda stuffy. They also have a cool bottle shop in the back to pick up some independent kinda drinks to take home. I already have a plan to come back in November. I'll save room for the ice cream next time.

Yelp
We stopped by for a quick ice cream break. I tried the campfire flavor and it was delicious! The service was okay, and the atmosphere was wonderful. I will definitely return next time to enjoy the campfire ice cream again.

Yelp
Came in on a Wednesday at 3pm for their happy hour! Great ambience, great food, lots of beer on tap! Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Absolutely love this place (pretty sure I have said this twice)! I had only ever been on the other side (with the ice cream, and pinks and wine) but I was finally able to try the Tap House side (same menu but the vibes are a bit different, especially if you come in during a soccer game and the tables are full). Luckily, I came on a Sunday and was able to order from their brunch menu which immediately had the chicken and waffles calling my name. At first I was like (3) tenders? That's not enough on my waffle, but as I began eating I was growing full. I was wrong, (3) pieces was enough for me to enjoy and finish the waffle. The right amount and a great ratio of sweet and savory. I truly wish the place was closer because not only is the food great but the team, the owners, the management, they are amazing. Jesus, Erwin and Eloy are always so welcoming and they really get to know their regulars. Highly recommend and cannot recommend enough.

Yelp
Came here on a very rainy Friday afternoon and a few great beers! The place was completely empty the entire time we were there, though who I assume was the owner made great conversation with us and was telling us about how they select their beer. They have a good selection and a good selection in their bottle shop as well.

Olivia B.

Yelp
Fabulous experience! Great waitstaff and excellent food. Even got extra samples of an IPA after talking with one of the managers. Ice cream is also top notch. Would recommend for a quick bite in between tastings.

Yelp
I won't lie, last time I was in St. Helena I saw Erosion Taphouse and passed it up. It looked like more of a wine bar than anything. Boy was I wrong. I made the stop this time to try out some of their beers during some down time and I was blown away. The taproom opened in February 2020 by Patrick and his family. They started out primarily with canned wines, then bottled wines, and then added on the brewery and a creamery. But Patrick is no novice in the brewing industry as he ran The Bruery (heard of it before?) and is a Master Cicerone. The beers they are producing here are small batch and change up nearly every day. The seltzers are also unique and tasty. I haven't tried the wines yet, but next time I'm in town I'm going to have to give it a try. In addition to the Tap Room, they also have a bottle shop that is one of the best curation of beers from around the world I have ever seen. They have bottles from Rare Barrel to Bottle Logic to Perennial to Hill Farmstead to member only beers that I have never seen on a shelf before. Who would have thought I'd walk away with so much beer from a trip to Napa. I got a flight while there and the next day bought more bottles and a seltzer. I tried all of the following and was impressed by all of them: Wine Stain Remover | Helles Dry Red Tip | Hoppy Red Lager fermented on French Oak and "dry tipped" with redwood tips The Road Well Traveled | Old Ale with Coconut and Vanilla Beans Autumn Dolce | Brown Ale with roasted yams, dulce de leche, pumpkin spices, and Amburana wood Cake Batter at a Brick Wall | Imperial Stout w/ Cacao Nibs and Vanilla Beans Soda Shop: Shirley Temple | Shirley Temple-inspired Hard Seltzer ________________

Yelp
This is such a nice spot to have in the valley. Casual, friendly and easy. We love that they offer the best of both worlds, beer and wine and then also ice cream for the kiddos. While it's a little strange to have what seems like two entirely different establishments connected to each other (really not sure why it's needed) I guess it's nice to have a sports bar type vibe on one side and then the opposite on the other? One always seems empty so it feels like an inefficient use of space but it seems to work for them. A nice selection of beer, wine, food and ice cream. The staff is always incredibly friendly and accommodating and this has a really nice family run business vibe.

Yelp
The cutest little spot in St Helena. This place is split into two halves: one half is retro and pink with an ice cream bar and an old school letter board and the other is more blue and warm with beers on tap and tvs playing local sports games. We chose to sit on the ice cream side but either way, you can order food off their menu and check out their wine flights. The food was interesting. The menu is made up of mostly appetizers and it's great to go family style. We tried the bean deep, quesadilla, egg rolls and waffle dogs. The egg roll was the winner. It wasn't a traditional egg roll. It was almost wrapped in a dough similar to the waffle dog but it was flavorful and the plum sauce that it came with was good. The bean dip was also a winner! It was warm and perfect for our rainy day. The quesadilla was a little strange. It was really thick because instead of a tortilla, it was also wrapped in that similar waffle dog pastry dough. I don't think I'd get it again. The service was fantastic and friendly and we had a great time! We appreciated that they could accommodate a big group and a dog!

Yelp
Spent the day in Saint Helena and wanted to check out the beer spots in town. Erosion was easy to find and had a back patio space, so we were excited to stay and check it out. Beer was really good, from brown ales, IPAs, lagers, all were delicious and we enjoyed our food, waffle sandwich, Empanadas, and waffle with beer cheese. Service was attentive, bringing out food quickly, and checking in on us while we hung out.

Yelp
We absolutely loved our visit here! We didn't have a chance to try their food but I imagine it is amazing. The owner was so kind and helpful, great conversation too. They have an incredible beer and wine selection for in house and even togo. If we lived here we'd be here a few times a week. Such a great experience we cannot wait to come back!!!

Yelp
Aloha, one of our haunts in the wine country is St Helena. We love the small town feel with its great boutique shops, fun restaurants, the Cameo theatre and art galleries. Wine tastings are everywhere so why not a beer tasting, right, yes. Erosion Tap House fills that gap. So happy Erosion opened right on Main Street. Worked our way through a few beers. Happy to report. Many great tasty beers to be had and nice pupu to accompany. And if you really want wine, yes there is a wine bar attached along with an ice cream shop. Full service. Enjoy!

Yelp
We came here Saturday around 6pm. This place is connected to the next door wine place. You can take the beers to the wine side and the wine to the beer side. Wine prices were higher prices so we stuck with the beers. We only got 1 dark beer that interested us. It was the Henhouse Oyster stout. Prices were decent for beer. About $7-12. They have outdoor and indoor seating. But it was crowded, so it was hard to find a seating. We moved to the wine side to finish our beers. It was so much emptier there.
google avatar

Julia L.

Yelp
Inside is very welcoming and the interior is very fun. They have a good sized outdoor seating that's secluded. There's a great selection of unique ice cream flavors. I got the ice cream flight which contained: Shirley Cheesecake, Strawberry, Matcha Made in Heaven, Pistachioak, and Campfire. All of the flavors were really good and yummy. The only thing I preferred is the cream cheese in the Shirley Cheesecake to be more blended since there were a few chunky clumps. Staff is very welcoming and friendly. I'm glad they had whipped cream to give my pup so he felt included. A nice place to end your day and would come back again!

Yelp
I came in here after work/between work yesterday around 4pm with a coworker for a cold and refreshing beer. We looked at the menu and I picked a sour beer for $10. My friend asked if they had a cherry sour, the server said no, and then she ordered something else (also $10) and went to the restroom. On the way back, she talked to the other guy there who handles marketing and was sitting at the bar. He was really nice, welcoming, and even loaned her his cell phone charger. So...the server told me he found a cherry sour in a bottle and would wait to see if my friend wanted it. When she sat down, the server guy came over with the bottle already open, assuming she'd want it. He didn't ask her and made no mention of the price, just poured it. It tasted "alright" so we sat and talked and drank. I paid for my drink when I ordered, so we didn't understand why her bill was $28 ($23 beer and automatic $5 tip). My friend was really upset and asked the bill to be adjusted to the price she was told for the first beer. The server smirked and was very short-tempered with us. She asked to speak to a manager and he said "the manager is never here," but also suddenly said he would just waive the whole charge, but had already charged her card anyway as she was talking! The way he handled the situation was very concerning and horribly unprofessional. We both have over 15 years of experience in the restaurant and bar industry and would never do this to anyone nor allow our employees to do so. ASK the customer if they want something they didn't order, and tell them the price! Especially when it's more than TWICE the price of what they originally ordered. I don't recommend stopping here, but check your bill if you do. We feel like this guy is intentionally ripping people off/skimming for higher tips plus rude, which is really bad for the concept of attracting regulars and for long-term business.

Yelp
Good stuff! Wide variety of brews, fun to sip while watching the games they have up on the screen... Awesome selection of uniquely-flavored ice creams, as well!
google avatar

Yelp
Just like the sign on the street says there's three happy faces trying to point out that there is this lovely beer and Wine bar on the main drag of Saint Helena. I'm sure it's quite competitive on this stretch but they definitely are on par with any of the other fancy wine bars. I had a lovely oak aged beer that after the pour I was told is a super rare beer for the California area. Repair that with a bean dip called quest fioli. I ordered that again. The Decour, their service, music, the TVs, all top notch! Bring your friends!!
google avatar

Yelp
Walking on the street, we went in for dessert. Beautiful interiors, clean facility. We took plain vanilla, Dutch chocolate and Dulce de Leache , all three were great. A single scoop for good enough for us.

Yelp
My band friends had a Saxophone Christmas Caroling gig just outside of Erosion Tap House and my husband and I decided to try some warm snacks. I love empanadas so I got their Beef Empanadas. It's meaty, flaky, warm, and awesome! The sauce was perfect for it and balances all the flavors. It was the perfect mid-afternoon snack. Everybody's friendly and courteous. They got quite a lot to offer in their menu. It's a place full of warmth. It was a nice break from the outside rain. I highly recommend this place. If you're in St. Helena, come check them out.

Claire H.

Yelp
A great place to go if you're in the Napa valley area and you have children with you. It can be difficult to find things to do around here that don't have to involve drinking. They do have wine and tap samplers but we made it fun by also getting ice cream flights! They were delicious. My favorite was the Dutch chocolate. It was very rich and flavorful. We got there about 10 minutes after they opened and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The place is also super cute! It's lined with mirrors and they had a giant board at the front the place that had trivia questions and so we entertained ourselves with that for a while.

Yelp
My sister and I had a fantastic time At the Erosion wine bar. Brittany at Chase bank told us to come here. Jes'us was an excellent host. We loved the whole wine experience and yummy artichoke dip. Highly recommend the You're So Pretty sparkling wine and Crude Cut No. 1 red blend. Cheers to a great spot in St. Helena.

Yelp
Went on the rec of Andy our Mumm champs guide and it was awesome. Alejandro and the manager made it a blast. The bean dip and ice cream sampler were amazing. Company was ever better. Highly recommend

Yelp
A wonderfully unique tasting room in downtown St. Helena! The tasting room has a funky and modern design. The interior decorator did an amazing job - the space feels so playful and fun. Our group of 9 was seated in an outdoor courtyard behind the tasting room. They started off our tasting with a glass of rosé. The tasting was done "family style". Each member of our group chose one wine, and the staff brought out a beaker of each wine for us to share. The wines were unique and eclectic, with fun names like "Boys Just Want to Have Fun", "Blondilocks", and "You're So Pretty." We had a blast with the family style approach, and had each person introduce and pour their wine for everyone to taste. My favorite wine was the "Aww Yeah!", a Petite Sirah from Calistoga. The staff was very friendly and kind, and gave us extra wine if we didn't have quite enough to serve everyone. They let us bring in food, and we had a little picnic lunch while enjoying our wine. Erosion's packaging is vibrant and unique as well! They had a great assortment of merch with quirky items. Every detail at Erosion is thought out and so vibrant.

Amazing spot best of both worlds ice cream flights for the hubby wine flights for me everyone wins. Really really yummy ice cream a great little atmosphere will come back again

Yelp
Mainly, this review is to help highlight the very professional and genuine service by Erwin. Erwin was very welcoming from the beginning, we had a group of 7 to celebrate a birthday and we are happy we stopped at Erosion Tap House. He was very attending and made the experience great. Engaged with us very frequently and is amazing to hold a conversation with. Other than Erwin, the others that have helped us at Erosion, unfortunately I don't remember their names, but just like Erwin, we're amazing people. Great menu, atmosphere, and employees. I will definitely go back here and will recommend to any friends.

Yelp
Fun different menu and choices. Waffle corn dog barbecue bacon hash pastry with cheddar cheese caramelized onions and bell peppers served with a side of barbecue sauce. Great service. Boston vs New York Yankees to make the visit spectacular!

Yelp
Strolled down main street yesterday & saw Erosion, my wife wanted some ice-cream, walked in and found out it's also a bar, with homemade draft beer & wine. I believe they even offer finger foods. And wine-tasting/wine flights in an ice cream parlor! Too bad we had to drive home & had to pass this time. We tried the sparkling champagne and bought a bunch of 4-packs. We also bought a few cans of mascot wine/beer, highly unusual blending. The real friendly guy (sorry about the name, we think Ashoo or something) behind the counter let us try some banana flavored draft beer, they all have cute creative names, Big little bird or something. We asked to take home the beer menu. I even almost bought another pair of earrings. They got nit-knacks at back of store. They also offer membership & shipments. The place is airy, roomy & spotless. They have a large flickering bulletin board (like those at airports) that posts trivial food/wine/liquor questions. My wife went in to buy a single-scoop ice-cream, but we walked out with $100 of purchases... & happy. Will definitely stop by again next time.

Yelp
Let's start with the beer. Good! I had the Red Hammer, one of the house brews. Easy drinking red ale that I could use as a go to any time of year. Slightly malty which was well appreciated on a fall afternoon. My wife had an italian soda which was a nice option considering she was pregnant. Having one or two non-alcoholic wines and or beers would be a nice accommodation. Next, the food. Meh. The only vegetarian options were cheese bombs, and we got to find out the hard way that their daily pie (quiche) had ham (TIL: SPECK is ham). I had the bangers and hash. The bangers were decent but came out burnt. The hash desperately needed some salt, but was otherwise a hearty pairing for beer. Then there was the utensils. I get it, we're trying to be eco friendly as much as possible, but come on. These wood caricatures are a joke. My fork snapped just trying to stab one of the bangers. I suppose on the up side I got a toothpick out of the exchange. Bottom line: I would come back for the brews, but I'd be wary of the food menu until they figure that out. I hope they do. It's nice having a tap house in town.

Yelp
Awesome place for a break from only wine all day!! Super cool place with small bites. Greatix of both wine and beer options!
google avatar

Sam V.

Yelp
Where do I begin? The space is so relaxing, not too modern with accents of a retro feel. The music isn't too loud but loud enough to enjoy (and it particularly resonated with my tastes). Our server, Erwin, was FANTASTIC! He guided us through the menu and even went out of his way to get our dog a bowl of water. The prices are very affordable and the bean dip is awesome! Definitely coming back and I HIGHLY recommend to bring your friends here :)
google avatar

Jessica B.

Yelp
Great Service! A great place for a date because you can taste both beer and wine. Some funky and unique options to break away from the traditional tastings around here.
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
We had such a wonderful experience. From the planning to enjoying the wine. We had a group of 9 so it was difficult finding places that would accommodate, but Erwin, the tasting room manager, was quick to respond. The tasting room itself is super cute and very "instagramable". We sat outside in the courtyard. What was really nice as well, was they allowed us to bring our own food in! We each were able to pick one wine, so we sampled 9! They were all so wonderful, even brought a couple bottles home. Highly recommend stopping her on your next trip to Napa!
google avatar

Steven S.

Yelp
Beautiful spot with great design. Food is good! Wine is fun and different. They're brewing new beer as well... :)

Yelp
This was a treat!!!!! So amazing on the vibe. Slick wall feature, fun drinks, amazing decor. Was a highlight of our day. Please take 30min and stop by this place. The server (gentleman, said they were there since covid started) was fantastic. If you could put this place in RINO (river north Denver) it would be hoppin!! A+++
google avatar

Yelp
This place is awesome! Found it on a whim wondering around St Helena. Super hip and modern. They have a new take on traditional wine making. They have some fun new-style wines infused with ingredients (cocoa, vanilla, etc). And some traditional wines that are delish! Was very impressed by all their reds. The guys here are super fun and the tasting room has a super modern funky feel. Right now it's 50% off for first responders. Definitely coming back here with my pup (dog friendly, yessss)!
google avatar

Jonathan W.

Yelp
Our first time coming here! It was one of the best wine experiences we have had in Napa. The Calistoga Zinfandel was terrific!! Erwin made the experience even more special. We will definitely be back because of him. Thanks Erosion!
google avatar

Stijn C.

Yelp
Original concept! Love that you can set up your own tasting flight. The Chardonnay selection made with different custom yeast strands are to die for. Merlot with hints of cocoa and vanilla are almost mind altering your vision on traditional wines. So original!! You'll have to go see and taste for yourselves.
google avatar

Yelp
Great place to grab a drink. All of the staff is very friendly and inviting. Excellent stop for your napa adventure. Erik and Jesus had great recommendations for drinks as well as restaurants.
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place! Been here a few times now and it's hands down the best place in St. Helena for a beer. A great stop pre/post dining or when you want to sip a cold one and watch a game. The whole staff is really friendly and very attentive. So many fantastic brews/ciders on tap and many more bottled. And right in downtown SH. They have a really cute outdoor patio and immaculate restrooms too! (That's worth a sixth star!) If you're looking for a clean, classy place to chill I highly recommend.

Yelp
This place is amazing!! Cute ambiance paired with exceptional customer service paired with amazing wine!! You must stop by! We are so excited we popped in. #FromTheChiToCali

Charlie A.

Yelp
This place was top notch! Husband and I randomly decided to stop in on our way through Napa and were very pleasantly surprised. Ice cream and wine on one side, beer on the other, and a food menu. What more could you ask for? The employees were all super friendly and knowledgeable, and are just one of the reasons we want to go back. It was all so delicious!

Daisy G.

Yelp
ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!!!!! The customer service, the hospitality, the workers! It was truly an amazing experience, I cannot wait to go back again! All 3 workers made sure my fiancé & I as well as the tables around us were doing great and making sure we were enjoying our time. I can say that all of the employees were truly amazing and not in a doubt super respectful! They definitely made the visit super warming and made us feel like we've known them from before. Cannot wait to go back!

Yelp
This place serves excellent beers and can create a beer flight for you. Lot of great options here.

Yelp
Just a man's idea of what a room should be: nothing on the walls except a big TV, tons of beer, and everyone is staring at me.

Yelp
I cannot say enough how amazing the service is here. They are so kind informative, personable and great energy. So refreshing to find a contemporary environment. Will be back.
