The 38 Essential Bangkok Restaurants

"Set up in the former location for the now-closed (and much-lamented) Soul Food Mahanakorn, culinary standby Err continues in the tradition of top-quality casual Thai drinking food spots. Helmed by Dylan Jones and Duangporn “Bo” Songvisava of the Food Trust (and formerly Bo.lan), Err churns out crowd-pleasing favorites like its Chicken Movie (chicken skin served with house-made Sriracha sauce) and Isan-style sausages, as well as traditional Thai tipples such as ya dong (an herbal Thai spirit) and sato (rice beer)." - Chawadee Nualkhair, Austin Bush, Sirin Wongpanit

11 Best Restaurants in Bangkok

"Err is a traditional shophouse reimagined as a funky one-room restaurant in Bangkok's royal quarter. The doors are always swung wide, meaning there's no air-conditioning, even if you opt to sit inside amid the mismatched chairs and cool art. It's playful and inviting, especially if you're in the mood to drink with friends. Garlic, chilis, soy, betel nut, ginger, lemongrass: This is Thai drinking food at its best. You nibble on sausages or pull pork off of satay skewers with your teeth. It's communal, casual, and never dumbed-down for tourists." - Jenny Adams

Food is good, a bit on the pricey side but worth it! The grilled pork neck was my favorite paired with tamarind sauce 👌🏼 Chicken movie (fried whole chicken) was good too, crunchy and tasty! The Err cocktail is unique, first time I had cocktail with chili 🌶️

Nice place with a great vibe. Staff was polite and helpful. The food was good, but some of it was very very spicy. Their cocktails are amazing!

Very good service and good environment/ atmosphere. Food: personally, I think just ok. But very representable.

Err is a solid 4 stars for me. Everything was competently done - from food, service to the ambience of the place. I felt it was slightly expensive for Bangkok and for what it is but my companions and I had a nice time whilst there. Just a note that it was really lovely to eat Thai food that’s not sweetened. I personally liked that about the food!

I can't imagine how I reproduce this แกงเขียวหวาน(green curry) in my home which has a strong punch of spices and quite subtle sweetness, creaminess of coconut milk, and flavor. We have been to Bo.lan about 5 years ago but I felt this restaurant has the same fundamental.

Five years ago, inspired by a show I watched on Netflix, I found a place called Err on Google and tried to visit it, not realizing at the time that it was closed. Finally, I got the chance to go! This time, I was able to experience firsthand the atmosphere I had only seen on screen and been curious about back then. Every detail of the crispy chicken skin dish was carefully prepared. The dishes served, along with their passionfruit cocktails and impeccable presentation, were truly impressive—each plate felt like a work of art. The chef’s unique touch made the flavors even more unforgettable. This place was definitely worth the wait after all these years. I can say it exceeded my expectations in both ambiance and taste.

Cute rustic. Great service and very home style. Food is authentic and regional. We wanted plant based and they had some options, yet very tasty. Aubergine, mushrooms with balls very good. The fruit carpaccio v unique & refreshing! We loved it. Thanks heaps👍

A Thai restaurant in Thonglor area. It was recommended by one foreigner friend. The owner is 2-Michelin star chef. That probably made the restaurant a bit packed. The owner, however, didn't prepare the food today. The taste overall was slightly above average. Some dishes were really good. Some not. The portion was small.
