Taco Restaurant Escondite Opens in the West Island | Eater Montreal

"A reliable downtown taqueria that has expanded out to the ‘burbs, I found Escondite’s new Dollard location to be a solid addition to the west, which is rather light on Mexican cuisine. On the menu is a mix of classic and modern tacos — from Baja-style fried fish and al pastor through to crispy cauliflower and Korean steak — and other options like pozole (done with a tomatillo base here), chilaquiles, and tostadas round out the offerings. For drinks expect a host of tequila- and mezcal-based cocktails plus a few Mexican beers. In just under five years Escondite has gone from one restaurant (on Union) to five — three in the downtown core and one in Laval." - Tim Forster

Love the vibe of this place, beautiful restaurant! Great service and really good tacos! We came in around 5:40pm and it was empty but quickly filled up so will definitely recommend doing a reservation beforehand. The only disappointment was the keylime.. overly sweet and bitter to taste, hence the 4 stars. Otherwise, we loved it! The in house beer tastes delicious too :)

Had a great experience at Escondite! The vibe was amazing, and the food was fantastic. Our server, Lily, was amazing she was super friendly, attentive, and gave some great recommendations. It really made the meal even better. Definitely one of those places I’ll be coming back to!

Spent our 22nd anniversary dining here this past weekend. Our server was super sweet and helpful. Gave us options, answered our questions and made recommendations. The drinks were great! Corn bread was almost a no-go due to a broken machine, but was replaced just in time for us to enjoy! I asked for another, it was on the house! 3 different types of tacos (fish, steak & chicken) all excellent and written in order of preference. Chips and guac were tasty as well. Wee are believers that great food tastes better when the service is exceptional, and she didn't disappoint. We will be back for sure!!

The vibe was inviting - casual, eclectic and welcoming. I was pleasantly surprised. We were having a family dinner for 6 and selected the tasting menu, our waitress Katherine put together a selection of order and each dish came out for us to discover. My faves were the chicken wings, the enchiladas with truffle and the corn bread. The place filled up by 7:30 and the lights were dimmed to reflect the evening vibe. The wait staff explained each dish. We had a wonderful family dinner. I would definitely come back with friends as well.

Finally we have a good restaurant with a good taste atmosphere and delicious Mexican cuisine in the West Island, that we can enjoy with friends and family. Besides the food, the staff is friendly and welcoming. Margaritas is a must with appetizers and to end the dinner, a Key lime delicacy for dessert. Tacos are the perfect size and the texture of the tortilla almost to perfection. I don’t know how much I spend per person because we were invited by our friends.

From greeting to finishing up, the service was amicable and wonderful. The people seem just as happy as the party celebrating! The timing of each serving was perfect! The food was delicious. The only thing I and a friend of mine didn’t like was the fish taco but EVERYTHING else was great!! The drinks ohhh wow fantastic everyone seemed enjoy them! Will definitely be back!

I'm coming back to this place for sure! Everything was awesome. Staff were super helpful and very polite to deal with. They offered some very good recommendations. Everything we had was delicious. They have a slightly different spice range than traditional Mexican, which is a nice twist. They offer smaller plates so you can mix it up and try different things. I highly suggest checking this place out.
