"This independent shop sells girly gifts for your bff and carries some lovely clothing lines. This spot makes for a great shopping visit. Around the area you can also find Buffalo Exchange and Una Mae's for clothing and don't forget to stop into Jenis' for ice cream." - Anna Zajac

"Kelly Whitesell and Elizabeth Del Castillo, the founders of this Wicker Park standby, are known for their trend-driven, yet somehow totally timeless sensibility, which is perfectly reflected in the boutique’s easy-to-navigate layout and eclectic buy (Judi Rosen denim, knits from Barcelona-based Yerse, and In God We Trust charm necklaces). And while the eponymous house line might skew a little young for some, for the right girl, the racks of retro-tinged dresses and printed separates are a sartorial goldmine. The apothecary, however, is a sure bet for just about everyone—think, D.S. & Durga fragrances and Qualitas candles."

I really like collecting some home decors and since I saw this shop in social media, posted by some of my friends I decided to check it out and try it once. So, I decided to explore the store further and give it a shot. And ever since the first time I came here, it has convinced me to make this location one of my regular shopping destinations. Mainly due to the fact that they stock such a wide variety of products, all of which are of a high standard. In addition, the interior design is uncomplicated, earthy, and soothing without being overly bohemian. They also have such a large selection of clothing, trinkets, home decor, and also some other gift products that are available for purchase. I find it very enjoyable to browse through all of the available products, and they consistently offer items that are both distinctive and elegant. I will most definitely visit here again and next time I’ll bring my best friend also because she love this kind of products too.

I’m obsessed with this store! This is an awesome spot if you love unique and retro decor. Perfect place to find things to decorate your home and the best spot to find little gifts and knickknacks! The staff is always so helpful and have the best taste. This store is what dreams are made of!!

Google
I have been shopping at Eskell since before they moved locations in 2017. I've always found unique and eclectic items at Eskell and my house is decked out in their decor! I've found everything from throw pillows to rugs to shelving to vases and glassware. Cute little odds and ends and some apothecary items too. They even sell wonderful dish soap! I bought a chair and ottoman last year and for a very reasonable fee, they delivered them to my house just outside of Chicago. I also have several gorgeous plants I purchased at Eskell--still alive after 5 years! This is a great destination if you love retro vibes and decor with a classic touch. I'm a lifelong Eskell shopper!

Google
Eskell has such a beautiful collection of home goods, jewelry, furniture, clothes are more. Their style is so on point! Picked up several leopard wine glasses today - easy online order and store pick up in times of quarantine. SO pleased with the glasses and the customer service! LOVE LOVE LOVE

When I walked into this beautiful, artsy store, I thought it was so well put together and the staff are so friendly! They came right up to me, very enthusiastic and helpful! Cutest furniture, CLOTHES, JEWELRY..so much more! Thank you for being such great help. It was definitely a great first experience and I WILL be back ASAP!

Stopped in today after work after driving past so many times. Pleasant staff. Lots of gift ideas, I couldn't decide on which candles to get; each smelled lovelier than the last. Worth checking out!! I'd definitely go back!

Google
I cannot express how much I love this store!! Every time I visit Chicago I have to come here. Each time I visit the employees are so kind and help me find such unique pieces for my apartment. Best customer service I’ve ever experienced at a store in a long time. We need this shop in New York please!!!!!

Google
If you are looking for a beautifully curated selection of home goods, art, jewelry and fashion, look no further. I began shopping at Eskell in 2008, when it was primarily clothing, and somehow it just continues to get better! The service that Kelly and her team provide, in addition to the products, are second to none. I have also worked with Eskell on numerous home projects. Kelly is able to work a vision of your perfect space into reality. Her goal is to elevate your space in a way that works for you, and to bring new perspective to your existing space. When we moved, I was looking for very specific pieces, and she went above and beyond to search and find the right ones. I highly recommend their design and staging services. Love love love this place!

Yelp
I feel obligated to correct myself - the $40 glass was for a set of 4. MY BAD. And as long as I'm updating, I still love coming here -- I stop by at least a couple times a month. It's like therapy, even if you don't end up buying anything (which you will, because, come on, everything is so pretty!) Also go pet Goose (the shop dog) while you are there. Basically Eskell is like my favorite place in the world.

Yelp
I love this store! I started shopping here just before they moved to their Bucktown location. They have the most AMAZING furniture (love my Eames replica chair!), wonderful kitchen utensils and serveware, nice coffee table and art books, not to mention wall art, mirrors, and very hip clothing. This is seriously one of my favorite places in the Chicago area. Make it a weekend destination! They've also always been very cool about me bringing my daughter since she was little.

Yelp
I've been to a lot of shops, and I have to say that this is one of the best. They offer a very special variety of products, which are some of my absolute favorites. It was just recommended to me by a few of my friends who have been frequent customers in this shop for a long time, and they have nothing but positive things to say about it. Because of this, I came into this shop just last week to take a look around and see what was new and interesting in the space. And I was extremely impressed by all of the products that were laid out for sale. It included a wide range of gift items, including clothes, knickknacks, and accessories for the home, in addition to a few other kinds of items. Also, the interior design is very simple and calming, without being an excessive amount of bohemian. It is a very enjoyable experience for me to look through all of the products that are available, and they consistently provide items that are unique and elegant. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Since the day I moved into my first apartment on my own, I've had a passion for collecting home decor. Just two months ago, I came across this shop in my neighborhood, which I immediately fell in love with. And all I have to say about this shop is that it is the coolest boutique for any and all of your gifting requirements! There is a huge selection of trinkets, home decor, clothing, and so much more available. I enjoy looking through all of the products, and they consistently provide products that are both unique and classy. The interior design is simple, earthy without being overly bohemian, and calming. They also have a small collection of gemstones and precious stones, as well as interesting books and adorable little cups and bowls to adorn your dresser or tabletop. The staff is pretty friendly and helpful, and they are a lot of fun. Definitely be back again.

Yelp
After Ms Eskell had my previous review deleted as spam from Google (and having her friends leave multiple good reviews quickly), I am re-submitting my review of the table she sold me to Yelp, as she described "GREAT condition, minus a couple of tiny nicks"... In which she refused to acknowledge my upset, and called me an aggressive bully for politely and privately messaging her that I was shocked at its condition. Stay away from this untrustworthy woman and her establishment, unless you want to be nearly $500 short with a garbage piece of furniture and be accused of being a terrible human being for expressing my disappointment.

Yelp
Supporting local designers is always fun, especially when the designers are as talented as Kelly and Elizabeth! A few weeks ago I noticed a few racks of Eskell dresses/skirts at a Beta Boutique sample sale and I was hooked! Elegant, feminine, and unique pretty much sums up Eskell. Today I paid Eskell a visit and found more of their gorgeous clothing, as well as clothing from a few other designers and a few racks of cool vintage clothing. Everything is reasonably priced and even more so when it's all marked down like it was today. And Kelly (one of the designers/owners) was a doll! If Kelly and Elizabeth continue to design clothing this adorable I'll for sure be making this one of my frequent shopping destinations. Nice work gals!
google avatar

Yelp
Well, I would love to say nice things about this place... but when my boyfriend and I walked in on a Thursday night, we were not greeted. We were actually not even acknowledged at all. The place felt very "cold" and I looked at my boyfriend and told him I didn't feel welcomed here. Could have had my money, the stuff is super cute. But not worth my time or effort to feel noticed. If you don't want my business, I'll take it else where. A simple welcome could have done the job.

Yelp
The coolest boutique for all your gifting needs! There is a huge variety of trinkets, home decor, clothing and so much more. I love browsing all of the products.

Yelp
1st of all the new space is STUNNING. They have gorgeous stuff! I love seeing the progression from a women's clothing store to more furniture & home goods! The staff is beyond helpful & so much fun. Kyle has helped me so many times & is seriously the best. She has gone way beyond what is expected & made all of my experiences at Eskell perfect!

Yelp
What a lovely surprise find while spending a morning window shopping with my sister. Upon entering I knew I was in trouble. I pretty much wanted one of everything. The clothing lines are mainly neutrals with some olive and blue thrown in...totally my color scheme. The decor is minimal, earthy without being hippy and calming. They also offer a small collection of gemstones, precious rocks, interesting books and cute little cups and bowls to adorn your dresser.
google avatar

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
Eskell offers an eclectic - if not somewhat disjointed - selection of women's clothing and accessories. Nothing caught my eye as I walked through the shop, and with no assistance offered from the associates, I made my way back out to Wicker Park to explore other local boutiques.

Yelp
I want to live in this store . Seriously a feast for the senses. Scent, stuff, personality without the pottery barn effect.

Blair B.

Yelp
LOVE LOVE LOVE Eskell. They have amazing plants in the cutest planters - a few of my favorites include a lemon and avocado tree that I purchased a few weeks ago. Also, they have great jigsaw puzzles, coffee table books and candles. Friendly and helpful staff as well.

Yelp
A place where I can break the bank, without really breaking the bank? For weeks I have been telling myself: -You don't need any more dresses-my closet was oh so small that a t-shirt crowded the cramped space. -Put that bangle down right now! -No More Leggings, even if they are gold. Put them down! I had an itch and it needed to be scratched until I purred. What do I want, what would look sophisticated, flirty and fun? I broke down after hanging up my clothes the other day in a shiny new walk in closet and saw all of the barest of open spaces and knew it just needed to be filled. Maybe not filled but that lonesome rack needed some companionship. The easiest woman on planet earth breaking at the size of a closet. I walked into Eskell and was greeted immediately with a warm smile. Oh please let this be within my budget. It's a locally owned boutique and the owners even have their own line carried in the stores with the rest of the clothes. Everything caught my eye, from the dresses to the jackets they are all classy yet hold a timeless appeal that is sure to pass through every season, years to pass. I ended up walking out with a unique open back Greylin dress that would look fabulous with the right tights and heels. The prices are well within range and enough to not break the bank, even the prices for the owners own line was affordable. There were a few delicate gold rings with initials on them that could go with anything. The service was exceptional and I felt so comfortable wandering through, going back and forth on what I wanted all while chatting with the friendly Manager..Megan I believe her name is? So proud of myself for only walking out with one purchase, I think my closet will enjoy the new company of yet another dress.
google avatar

Yelp
The new me wants to only support boutiques and independent American designers. In an attempt to simplify my life (and to live in a tiny one bedroom with my man and only one closet), I want to have fewer items that are durable and unique. Is that a valid justification for spending $120 on a skirt? I don't know, but I just got my tax return back and was feeling rich. Oh, and, the owner is fun and accommodating and guess what? Eskell is moving to Wicker Park in the fall. YAY!
google avatar

Katey M.

Yelp
Awesome little boutique in Wicker Park. They make their own Eskell clothing line that's super cute! Great place for last minute gifts and jewelry by local Chicago designers.

Yelp
I really didn't think there was anything special about this store. The selection was pretty much what i would expect to find in a small boutique. Having read the reviews, and learned that they used to be in Lincoln Park, i can totally imagine them fitting in there, and where they are with the Lincoln Park Part II that Wicker Park is fast becoming. There was some very interesting jewelry, but the vintage stuff, though not overpriced, was nothing more spectacular than what you might find in any random thrift store. All the clothes came in pretty small sizes, mostly 2's and 4's, and some shirts i tried on were definitely not expecting to be worn by a woman with breasts. I almost bought a dress i was slightly ambivalent about, but when i realized returns were for store-credit only, i changed my mind. I used to think Wicker Park was a good place to go shopping for fun and unique clothes, this store is totally the final straw in convincing me i have been wrong all along.
google avatar

Jessi L.

Yelp
Well-edited, well-designed and well-staffed always. I've loved these girls since the early days on Webster and when they moved to Wicker Park a month after I did, there may have been a yip involved. My signature necklace is from here. It's the most I'd ever spent on jewelry (still under $200) for a strange lariat that just spoke to me. I wear it constantly and have for the last year and half. Never fails to start a conversation. That always leads to me gushing.
google avatar

Helena S.

Yelp
Walking in, I was greeted by a doggie. Not a dog in anyway affiliated with the store, just one hanging out while his mama tried on dresses. I have a special place in my heart for all dogs and, by extension, all stores and restaurants that welcome them. So far, we are off to a good start. The walls are lined in dresses and tops - all so pretty and feminine. They are a touch expensive, but there was an entire section of jeans and other items marked way down. I found a gorgeous pair of gunmetal grey jeans that, unfortunately, did not come in my size. The staff was wonderful - so friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Susie Q.

Yelp
I am so excited that this store moved to my neighborhood from its previous location on Webster. Kelly is always so helpful! Definitely not a 'cookie-cutter' store. Watch out for various indie lines (such as Judi Rosen) and, of course, their own Eskell line!
google avatar

Tristin M.

Yelp
Designers/Owners Kelly Whitesell and Elizabeth Del Castillo founded Eskell in 2005 when they opened their first store in Lincoln Park. They moved to this location last fall and though I don't know what their older store looked like, I can say that this one is awesome. You'll find some vintage pieces along with their earthy, flirty but fresh and feminine, figure flattering line. very very sweet =)
google avatar

Valerie A.

Yelp
This place is *so* adorable. Pretty, unique clothing and jewelry. It's a great addition to the neighborhood! I wish I had more money to spend on shopping because I would go to this store a lot more! Currently I have to avoid going in because I know I will wind up spending cash. It is a little pricey, but not terribly unreasonable for the lines they carry. I got a pair of earrings for my birthday from Eskell, and they are gorgeous; I wear them all the time. I also got a great scented candle, as well. If you're looking for a great gift or want something pretty for yourself, definitely check this place out.
google avatar

Betsy W.

Yelp
Eskell is a great boutique because it has clothes with style (I die) and a little re-worked vintage mixed in. If you shop at Eskell, you can be assured that you'll be the only one wearing it...in a really good way.
google avatar

Chigurll K.

Yelp
I liked this store. I got two dresses and had to return one of the dress because after trying it at home I could not figure out how to wear it without a bra. It is backless and a bit see through so You have to wear something under it. They only do store credit or exchange which is fine but I was not told about it after I bought it and ofcourse could not return it only four hours after I bought it. I will go back to shop more but it would have been nice to be informed about the exchange. Most of the boutiques actually inform you while you are making the purchase but not this.
google avatar

Lauren G.

Yelp
Eskell? More like ehhhhhhhhhh-skell. Well, maybe that was a little harsh. Don't get me wrong, Eskell had everything you need to put together an adorable boutique - the unique clothing, the locally-made jewelry, the hand-picked vintage and the chic-cute ambiance. There was plenty of pretty staff on hand that would answer your questions, (well, if you went over to the lot of them and asked, that is) and answer with even more great information about all of the designers and designs. That part was fine. But the PRICES. Ehhhh. From what I found, Eskell sports some intimidatingly high prices. To be honest with you, there are not a lot of things that I will buy for $185. Sadly, the trendy dresses and skirts that I ogled throughout my trip there were included. Loved the clothing. Second guessed my bank account. But left empty handed. Maybe my next paycheck...
google avatar

Jelly C.

Yelp
Dear Eskell, I lovelovelovelove your clothes. Too bad I can't afford anything(even when they're deeply discounted at Beta's sample sale). I love your patterns, your cuts, those colors, the fabric. Your clothes make me so happy. I promise that when I grow up, I'll make a lot of money and spend it all on you. ok? See you later, Joyce
google avatar

Hanna A.

Yelp
Walking in, the smell hooked me alone! Beautiful pieces (especially if you are in need of a fabulous great jacket and/or dresses.) Unique and feminine styles for a diverse crowd. Great boutique to keep in mind while shopping. A must stop!
google avatar

Ryan P.

Yelp
Eskell is a dream, it is owned by two super cute girls who have great style and a clear point of view. You will find a lot of great American designers in this shop, all of which are treasures and unique pieces. Just as a gauge, the price point is usually 100-ish for tops and such, but the quality is nice and they carry some amazing designers you don't normally find in chicago. you must must must go. I am currently in love with a line they carry called Quail. Sooo cute.
google avatar

Sharon R.

Yelp
horrible experience-went in walking by on my way to a meeting to inquire about something i saw thru the window. the person i was meeting texted and i had to leave. came back 40 minutes later and the women gave me the neck-slit move and wouldn't come to the door 30 feet away (i only wanted to ask for a card so i could look online). they ignored me so after lighting a cigarette i pounded on the door again and their response was to turn off the outside light (it was 6:59, they close at 7). They will never know how much cash i picked up at that meeting that will NEVER be spent there. ps-from what i saw b4 i got the text it is embarrassingly over-priced
google avatar

Yelp
I like this store. I am so happy an independent boutique opened up on Milwaukee- I hate what has happened to the neighborhood. The store has some beautiful things, great vintage and the space is really cute.
google avatar

Anni G.

Yelp
I first walked in here a few years ago and have been putting off this review until I visited again just in case things had changed. Although their inventory is a bit different (obviously) the essential feel is still the same - you can tell the owners/stockists have good taste, and there's a clear "type" - if you like their style, you're pretty much guaranteed to find something you love. That's hard to come by in a boutique, as many either carry a specific brand or have a safe (read: boring) selection. There are some vintage garments that are pretty hit or miss, but the new clothes are always fun and gorgeous without feeling like they're trying to hard. My one complaint is that when I first shopped here they carried Lorick, one of my favorite designers, and I didn't see any this time around.
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
Gorgeous dresses and separates from two local designers. A well-edited selection of vintage and new pieces. Friendly sales people who love fashion. Yummy French perfumes and re-dyed vintage slips. What's not to love about this shop? I've been in three times and every time I leave with another delicate piece that becomes an instant fave in my wardrobe. The first time I stopped in the owner gave me one of their vintage slips for free because it looked so cute under the dress I was trying on. I think the owners have gotten more picky about the vintage pieces they offer, because every time I visit the selection is better edited. During my last visit the sales lady told me Eskell have their prints handmade in Chicago. I often wondered where they find those lovely and unique textiles. Turns out they are supporting local artists, too. That bit of information pushed them to the five star category for me.
google avatar

Dana M.

Yelp
Ive found some cute things here. One being a sweet black and white puppy who Ive seen lounging around, but, alas, he was not for sale. A lot of things are overpriced, but that'll happen since this is a boutique and all. My only issue is the lack of customer service here. Ive worked in industries (like retail) in which providing impeccable customer service is a top priority. As a result, I find that many places i visit fall short in this area. Even though i am used to receiving subpar customer service, it is not acceptable for employees to stand behind the cashwrap together, stare/not greet entering potential customers, and then whisper about them while they browse your store. Byee. I'll find this $100 necklace on Etsy for $20. I will miss you, cute puppy.

Yelp
I first found Eskell at a Bucktown warehouse sale. When I went to the boutique I found a very feminine line inspired by what seemed like 1960's and 1970's western wear with a modern simplified twist. The clothes were very beautiful and looked very wearable. They even have a seasonal vintage rack that is artfully selected to integrate into the rest of their line. However, during my many visits to Eskell I've found that I have a difficult time fitting into their separates (I am 5'6" with measurements 36-28-40) mostly through the hips. I have had better luck with their tops and dresses and great luck with their vintage pieces. The prices of the original line range from slightly high to down right expensive while the vintage line is reasonably priced considering the quality of the collection. Overall the service has been hit or miss (sometimes cold & sometimes great). Despite it's minor setbacks I'll be back to try and find some more nice pieces that flatter my figure. Two favorite items I've bought from Eskell: black jersey & cream linen backless dress with multicolor pastel back straps ($100) & vintage black polyester with fuchsia and white floral print sleeveless wrap dress with large ruffle overlay ($36).

Russ K.

Yelp
A funky collection of furnishings and clothes. They have lamps, rugs, candles etc. They have a good eye for interesting stuff. Definitely worth a look.
google avatar

Steph U.

Yelp
Really expensive (like ridiculously over-priced), but there's cute stuff. I like that they sell all the decorations and plants in their store, as well. There are other places where you can buy similar plants and decorations for way cheaper though. Also, I'm not a fan of the glitter that they put in the plants. I don't need a plant that looks like the aftermath of a Ke$ha party. Not much to really say about this other than that, sadly.

Mindy P.

Yelp
I agree with some of the reviews about this place regarding the staff and their lack of awareness on how to greet customers. I had been quite excited to visit this store since it opened and was super excited to finally visit it yesterday. I typically brush off subpar experiences and don't yelp but perhaps bc I had hopes to want to love the place and found myself overwhelmingly disappointed instead. I felt the need to share a review. While others were being greeted and offered beverages, my boyfriend and I did not even get eye contact or a simple hello from the sales associates. If you prefer business from only a specific target demographic, your message is coming in loud and clear. If I've misunderstood the situation, and you just have no people skills, then I suggest you take a quick 20 min primer on customer service experience. It could really help you if you want to avoid receiving any further negative reviews. Store curation is decent but nothing to write home about. I won't be returning.
google avatar

Michelle M.

Yelp
this is my new favorite boutique. Some items are pricey especially the vintage items, but they scour the vintage lands to find such unique items. The ambience of the store is very pleasing. The store makes you want to decorate your apartment with such cute things. I was surprised to find vintage boots in such great condition and in my size. You must check this out if you want a unique outfit and they also carry new items. Go here before you give your money to corporate anthropologie. If you are tired of the armitage shops you must head two blocks north to webster, you will be pleasantly surprised.
google avatar

Taylor O.

Yelp
I had a great experience at Eskell this weekend! So many beautiful vintage- inspired pieces and unique jewelry. Good place to find a gift in a variety of price points. The young lady working was really helpful and friendly and the decor is cute. I happily left with an awesome blazer, candles and lotion... After I finally stopped myself from shopping :)

Flavia R.

Yelp
My first experience shopping at the store was unfortunately very disappointing. I purchased a pillow that didn't work out and when I came back (within 30 days of purchase) to ask for a return in exchange for STORE CREDIT, I was told they only accept exchanges or store credit within 14 days from purchase. When asking to speak to a manager or store owner (the pillow still had the tags attached and unused) I was told the owners were in Vegas and unable to respond. I'm returning home now unsatisfied, with a pillow that I have no use for. They did an excellent job making sure I never become a repeat customer. If you are purchasing anything here, make sure it's your final decision because they are not flexible or reasonable in their return/exchange policy. The $51 that they saved by not awarding me store credit, cost them a loyal customer who would otherwise have returned to consume an amount that exceeds that overall and overtime.
google avatar

L H.

Yelp
beautiful clothing. Note to self - marry rich to enable future shopping here.
google avatar

Natalia S.

Yelp
already can't wait to come back such original & beautiful things great selection of noveau & vintage items also owners are super sweet
google avatar

Claire R.

Yelp
Eskell has a great range of unique dresses, jeans and accessories that are all durable and worth the price. I've gotten a great sundress and found the PERFECT skinny jeans here (for about $100 less than most high end jeans). The staff is helpful, friendly and they don't seem to have that attitude that you sometimes find at small boutiques. Definitely worth a visit, my favorite Wicker Park/Bucktown boutique!

T B.

Yelp
this store is not really my style, but that being said they have some cool stuff. I don't like how the store is displayed, it is very busy and looks junky! Also, don't like all the plants hanging in the windows! Outside of that, just wonder why the people that work there are so un-friendly? Seriously!
google avatar

Leah A.

Yelp
I really enjoyed visiting this boutique! They had an eclectic variety of clothing ranging from more trendy pieces to classic denim. The jewelry selection was impressive- many local artists featured. I feel like this is a destination for unique items and gifts, even if they are gifts to yourself :)
google avatar

Lisa G.

Yelp
Love this store! Has amazing things (new AND vintage) that you will NOT find anywhere else! The owners are amazing too... Happy shopping :)

Yelp
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of my budget but everything there was GORGEOUS!! If I ever win the lottery I will buy out all their dresses and skirts.
