On the Grid : Espacio Escultórico UNAM

"Espacio Escultórico is a unique place in Mexico City, located in the Cultural Center of the UNAM, it’s a place surrounded by nature and petrified lava that contrasts with huge and colourful sculptures that reflects the aesthetic geometrism of six artists: Manuel Felguérez, Federico Silva, Sebastian, Hersúa, Helen Escobedo and Mathias Goeritz. This place is perfect for a picnic, to take pictures or just to run away for a little while from the stress, noise and traffic of the city. The entrance to this site of sculptural art and nature is completely free." - Leolab

We found this because of a tiktok, and I'm so happy we did. We took the metro to the "Universidad" stop, and from there we walked about 20 minutes to get there. Free access, pretty surroundings and great foto opportunities! A great thing to do, highly recommend it!!

El espacio escultórico mi amor. This place is one of my favorite “hikes” Took some friends recently they thought it was pretty cool. Bring something to protect you from the sun.

It's a garden with big sculptures, very solitaire and secluded, when i visited it the grass was dry and it seemed like no one had trimmed it in a long time. It has two main areas, separated by a road. It could be nicer if they take care of it.

Meant as a way for students to escape and relax. There's wonder in the rocks below, flanked by the circle that seems to contain a landing pad for aliens...well that's what it looks like to my eyes anyway. It's also far enough away from the bustling city and noise reduction with almost complete isolation in a city, which seems nearly impossible anywhere else.

The place will give you a nice view of the skyline on a clear day though you have to climb one of the triangles. It is a very interesting place both culturally and geologically.

Just another great option for a small urban hike
