As has been mentioned this is an inconvenient new mall, which is in no way related to Aventura Mall. You would be forgiven to think it is part of the mall, since it is so close but it is in actuality its own entity. The fact that is does not have access to the mall—because it is owned by a different developer—makes it uncomfortable to get to if you happen to be in the mall.
Additionally, it really has limited things to do to keep people entertained. It was nicely constructed, but for a place opened now for months, I could almost see the tumbleweeds rolling—not many people were around. It was slightly eerie, and sad even.
I enjoyed the restaurant I went to. It was a Peruvian restaurant, but honestly for the high price and annoying accessibility issue, I rather have stayed in Aventura Mall, proper.
Unless these developers find a way to come to some accord with Aventura Mall, and create an access point, I’m not sure how Esplanade will be successful.
I just don’t think people will go through the inconvenience to visit a gym, or the Sweetgreen… Maybe they will for the bowling place Pinestripe, and the expensive restaurants—but for me it seemed like a missed opportunity.
It really is a shame since the potential was there. Sadly, I was disappointed.
