Esposito Meat Market is the real deal. This spot’s been holding it down since 1932 - and talking over 90 years of meat mastery. The vibes are old-school legit, like they’ve been perfecting this craft forever and just know how to do it right. The selection? Straight fire. They’ve got everything - juicy steaks, fresh ground beef, pork chops, and some next-level specialty cuts you can’t find anywhere else. And the quality? Always on point. If you’re into making sauces, soups, or anything that slaps, their cuts are perfect for that too. The staff? Mad cool. They’re super chill, always ready to answer your questions, and will hook you up with cooking tips or prep your meat exactly how you need it. It’s the kind of spot where you go once, and next time, they’re already calling you by name. Bottom line: If you’re not hitting up Esposito, you’re missing out. This OG spot has been the plug for fresh, quality meat since the Great Depression, and they’re still killing the game today.

Of all the memorable places I would visit when I still lived in my beloved Hells Kitchen, this place was top on my list. This kind of quality and personal service has long disappeared in NYC, replaced by soulless big businesses that are rapidly destroying our entire country. PLEASE do you part by supporting this time honored tradition of family pride and wonderfulness. You'll appreciate their entire crew and selections of fine meat you won't find anywhere else. I hope they never sell out.

Google
Great meat market on the corner of 9th and 38th. Good selection of classic stuff: sausages, steaks etc. Fast, friendly service. Old school vibe.

Google
This place has been around forever. If you're looking for a real butcher you'll love this place. I believe it's a family owned business that's friendly and courteous to neighbors and strangers alike. The offer all things you'd expect from a traditional butcher. Meats cut to your liking, thin or thick. And fat trimmed or meat ground, your choice. They have all manner of protein including, duck, osso buco and a very nice pork selection. Especially busy during the holidays and you can order ahead for some speciality items. Conveniently located on a corner they are handicapped accessible.

I have been coming to this meat market on 38th Street 9th avenue for years. My mother have been going to this meat market for years when I was a little girl and I am 72 years old and still shopping for me at this meat market The best meat market in New York City. Whatever you need they have it. They are friendly to the customers.

Google
Fantastic experience. Smooth ordering. They were able to get a fresh turkey for me in October. Smooth pickup. And the turkey was delicious. 100% will be back

Google
I remember this butcher shop as a young girl. More than 40 years now. Sadly, I have since moved away. The dad is the nicest man ever. The meat the freshest we have ever found in NYC. Hope to visit again one day.

Sam Young

Google
My one and only butcher in NY. Family run, great produce - just call to ask if you have anything specific you want, pick up and delivery offered.

Mary L.

Yelp
Their meat was really fresh and the staff was extremely friendly. This is a good place to support local businesses.

Anita M.

Yelp
Wonderful old school butcher! They have everything you could possibly want & are very sweet. I have been going to them over 30 years

Mario D.

Yelp
HORRIBLE ONLINE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Being a New Yorker, I wanted to have real Italian sausage for Christmas, placed an order on 12/5 and told I would receive in one week...it's now 12/26 didn't receive anything except excuses. Can not speak with anyone on the phone and from the Google reviews which I should have checked, this is a significant issue and if you DO receive your order its poor quality frozen pork block.

Jordan H.

Yelp
Hands down the best butcher in midtown. Amazing people that treat you like family. Very knowledgeable and kind. One of the only no frills high quality butchers left In NYC. Know what you are looking for when you come in and don't waste anyone's time. A true old fashioned NYC gem.

Jennifer T.

Yelp
Come here for a purpose and take a number, everyone here is so nice and helpful but definitely know what you want. If someone is holding up the queue then people are going to get a bit annoyed. Some advice, know maybe one thing you want to get, know the general price point you want to spend, know you want to make that one purchase you're spending on an amazing meal for yourself and or a loved one. Then walk in, take a number, make eye contact so they know you walked in before anyone behinds you walk in, and browse what they have. Most of your basic butcher items will be on there but they don't displace everything, it's just estate. Then get your purchase and see if you want to go back. Also tip them if you make special demands which you most likely will unless you're throwing a party for 20+ people and you carve an entire spread yourself. The lines get long because you're paying for an awesome product and literally paying for the service to break your protein down even more than they have to.

Sofia L.

Yelp
Excellent meat pork belly and oxtail very fresh and highly recommend this meat market gets 5 stars

Melody F.

Yelp
Friendly service, great prices. Picked up fresh chicken pieces, salami, pepperoni, and Wisconsin cheddar. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Yelp
If you like to cook and want the best ingredients u start at esposito meat market my mother used to go here when she was young and I have been going here for my own food ventures for the last 7 years amazing filets and the best pork producer u can find these guys will always go the extra mile u don't want their ground beef they will ground a steak for you making chicken cutlets these guys will tenderize it to perfection if u go to the supermarket for ya meat u wouldn't ever get to experience true quality in ya cook. Let these guys give u the freshest top grade ingredients and forget about it only thing that would make them better is if they delivered I moved uptown but still make my way down because after going to them the quality is too noticeable.

Yelp
Missed Esposito since I left Manhattan (45 and 9th). It's been some years but always loved their products. Decided to order some pinwheel sausage, 5 lbs 3 coils. They arrived all frozen together. Ice crystals couldn't be pried apart. Has to break off some small pieces to grill, not what I envisioned. Had two reps contact me asking how I enjoyed service. Explained to them issues and on both occasions they said a customer rep would contact me, no when ever did. Very disappointed. I did grill the small pieces I was able to break off and they were delicious. Guess I will have to wait until I get visitors to defrost and cook the 4.5 lbs left.

Astasia G.

Yelp
They had everything to make my Jamaican stew peas! Pigtails, smoked meats everything!!! They cut it to my liking and the service was with a smile. I even shared recipes with another patron while I waited for my order which was very speedy!!! I had an amazing experience. Stop by Esposito!

Dina L.

Yelp
I had a great experience ordering for Thanksgiving. However, picking up was a surprise. I ordered 3 boneless turkey breasts What a got was 1 breasts and a 6 pound eye roast that only asked if they had but didn't order that. Because it was my first time cooking breasts. The answer: Google it. I go to a butcher b/c I want their expertise. No one demonstrated any knowledge. I won't go back.

Prezi W.

Yelp
Service is good! Cuts are good that I got! They could have a little bit more on display that appealing to the eyes, but it's alright.

Paul F.

Yelp
Excellent sausage and meats. Great service. Very reasonable. I was born and raised in NY of Irish/Italian descent and it's great to be able to order authentic Italian sausages and have them shipped to my current state in the southern US. It's nice to see people carrying on old traditions that are becoming harder to find these days

Kevin's C.

Yelp
I wanted to make some burgers with freshly ground meats. I was told it's better and makes for a more tender burger. That was the absolute truth! It's a game changer! Esposito's is awesome! They have a variety of meats that are fresh! The guy who took my order was beyond friendly and helpful. I could tell that he's super knowledgeable and even asked if I was planning to make burgers, based off what I ordered. Super nice guy. I have zero complaints about this spot, and I'll certainly be back! I highly recommend, especially if you haven't tried making burgers with freshly ground beef! It's sooo worth the trip to the local butcher!

Brian O.

Yelp
My first meat market in Nyc since 1982, the best from them all, I keep coming from Jamaica, Queens to buy my meat at Esposito's, thank you for being the best in authenticity.

Kit F.

Yelp
Walked in just before closing, got two marrow bones and a slice of provolone for the dog and two slices prosciutto for me. Cost $6.00. I'm a fan.

Tyler M.

Yelp
Asked for 2 lb skirt steak and they weighed out 1.95 lbs. They asked if they wanted it trimmed and ended up losing a half a pound but still charged for 2.

Marios D.

Yelp
We were in the city and needed to get something to cook for Christmas day So we went to Esposito. Looks were very traditional with the high counters and several butchers cutting meats and preparing to close down. Prices were reasonable and service efficient and friendly. Good variety for so late. We selected the veal loin and chops, fillet and frozen chicken hearts. Intent was to barbecue them. The filler was very tender and I only had to cook it a few minutes in each side. The hearts were firm and needed more cooking time as they are a hard muscle - very tasty. Veal was also terrific. The chops were cut s little differently with the 'tail' being kept on the loin chop. It worked - nice crispy texture! I recommend this place!

Gregv D.

Yelp
What can you say??? Simply the best Hot Italian sausage on the planet. PERIOD Customer Service is second to none. Their over night shipping and packaging tells you they know what they're doing. 5 stars all the way!!!!!

Bruce H.

Yelp
Before Covid-19, this was our go to place for meats. The service was outstanding with cuts made to ones exact specifications. Beautiful ribeye steaks , fresh chicken thighs, 80-20 ground beef and more. Now that I see they deliver I will certainly start using them again. The meat is extremely fresh (not frozen). They are so much better than trying to get what you want at Whole Foods, and the price is reasonable for what you get and it is located right in the middle of Manhattan. They are highly recommended.

Carly D.

Yelp
Esposito has the best/most fresh meat in Manhattan! They are also usually cheaper than grocery store prices. There is a reason you will see a line around the corner every year around Thanksgiving- they are simply the best! A true gem in the garment district.

Candace C.

Yelp
Esposito is my neighborhood meat market in Hell's Kitchen, and I highly recommend visiting if you are looking for high quality cuts of meat! I've purchased multiple prime ribs, pork shoulder/butt and oxtail there and have never been disappointed. In fact, I actually think my prime rib turns out better than most fancy steakhouses in the city (bold statement, I know, but I've been to most). It's not because I'm an excellent cook, but it's because of how fresh their meat is. The staff is very knowledgeable and can help answer any questions you may have about cooking times and temperatures - they've never been wrong!

Emelyn G.

Yelp
The butchers were fast, knowledgeable and efficient. The qualities of meats are par exallence.

David N.

Yelp
Came here for some skin on pork belly to make porchetta. The butcher was friendly and helpful with advice. I asked for some twine so I could tie it up and they were more than happy to include some.

Sarah C.

Yelp
So I am a vegetarian about to post a five star review about a meat market so that has to say something about the quality. I often come here to buy meats for my boyfriend and he says it is simply the best meat. Yesterday at a restaurant before picking his dish he turned to me and said "just checking you bought a steak in the fridge" and when I said yess he didn't order steak and instead will cook his own at home. This speaks to the quality of the meat. I often get him the New York steak and different types of prosciutto as my staples and sometimes also the bacon and kielbasa. He loves it all. Plus the service is incredible. Not to mention you can get the best deal on mozzarella -- $5 for a pound. I hope this place stays forever in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Esposito's is the kind of place my grandmother swore by: a neighborhood butcher who greets you like a friend, knows their product and can provide counsel when preparing something that represents unchartered territory. You'll find all this at Esposito's, any day of the week. But one can't help but sing their praises at holiday time, when there are more than a few customers clamoring for their delights. They not only get through any waiting group quickly, they don't skimp on the warm greeting, jovial banter and belief that you need to leave happy. It's full of people who seem to love what they do, and it shows. One trip to Esposito and you'll never buy meat anywhere else. If and when you want those old-school cuts or offal (hellooooo, sweetbreads and liver!), they have you covered. Call ahead and it can be waiting for you. Stop buying meat that's wrapped in styrofoam and plastic wrap--and dedicate yourself to buying local, from a butcher who cares. Thanks, as always, Esposito!

Joey M.

Yelp
My go to meat market on the west side! Quality A+ Service A+ Product Superb Thank you

Pei S.

Yelp
I love this place. Warm customer service, knowledgeable butchers...great selection.

Jack C.

Yelp
What the heck is wrong with you 4-star people? I won't even acknowledge any fool giving fewer than 4. Keep on truckin' Bobby! Life doesn't get any better than a stop at Esposito's and a cold one at Rudy's. Here's to the NYC of Blackboard Jungle, Lost Weekend, The Naked City, and Marty.

Lupe M.

Yelp
For the first time, I took a chance and I ordered sausage from New York, something I have never done and we fell in love with it. I will definitely be putting in an order on a regular basis, as I noticed they have alot of goodness.

Jeannie D.

Yelp
Fantastic butcher! Reasonable and they say that they get their meat from local farmers rather than large commercial farmers. Old style NYC! Worth a visit just for the NYC atmosphere. I don't even consider myself a sausage fan - and I LOVE their sausage. I'm totally hooked! It's become a once a week meal this summer! The chicken and broccoli-rabe with mozzarella is a favorite along with the large sage sausage (just a bit spicy). But they are all good. One day got ground beef - they had run out and ground more while I waited. Most delicious burgers EVER! They also sell frozen cow femurs for your dog. Maybe don't go...I don't want them to sell out before I get there! Lol

Lauren T.

Yelp
I randomly stopped in because the place has an old school classic NY vibe-- even on the outside. I'm very glad I did! They have a good selection, reasonable prices, and the customer service was great. They are patient but efficient, no eye rolling when you ask them to use twine or slice meat a certain thickness. The sausage seems to be the most popular item, but I wasn't sure what the options were. They quickly explained and made suggestions as well. Social distancing is observed as they limit the number of customers in the store and hand sanitizer is available.

Jack S.

Yelp
If you work in the Hudson Yards area and have never checked out Esposito's you are really missing out. Esposito's is a remnant of old New York and what 9th Avenue used to be but I can say this, when I worked in Union Square I would go out of my way on the trek back home through Grand Central to get over to Esposito's. They have quality meats and their butchers are really unmatched. These are people who know what they're doing, if you are serious about food this is the place to go. They know their cuts and will educate you if you have questions. I have always found the staff to be exceptionally helpful and good natured and I really can't recommend them highly enough.

Marida S.

Yelp
When I lived in NYC This was MY MEAT MARKET.. My Mom being Italian LOVED this place. She was able to get everything she LOVED. Robert was our Man who we spoke to once a week. The Pork was the Best every cut you needed. The Beef the Chicken The Veal Everything was great. We also ordered all our Deli Meats also. There wasn't anything we had a problem with. And the prices were just FINE. Now that I'm living in NJ NOTHING AND I Mean NOTHING comes close to the quality value and The Best Meats. I wish they delivered to Englewood, NJ. I miss you guys so much you have no idea. My best to you and wish you opened up a Butcher in Englewood, NJ. Thank you for your service and quality. Marida Sapichino Cohen

John Z.

Yelp
Pretty nice selection, very fair prices, and friendly service. Had no problems using my credit card either Compared to my local butcher in Sunnyside, the meat here was WAY better quality (I cooked two steaks side by side to compare) and the prices were almost identical

R H.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Really an old school top quality butcher shop. Service is incredible and the quality is excellent. Highly recommended.

Neline S.

Yelp
I really like this place even though it it out of my way. But I will travel if you provide great service. I was unsure about purchasing a rack of lamb and the butcher took the time explain the differences between American and New Zealand lamb which I knew nothing about. He went over taste, my preferences, prices and the cut. It was a busy night but he didn't rush and he wasn't upset when I said I needed time to think it over. I did come back because he made me comfortable making the decision and went over details on how to cook it. I will definitely come back for more!

Joan R.

Yelp
Love this place, they always have a great selection of cold cuts. Now they deliver so I will order more often

Erich W.

Yelp
Truly amazing. Great customer service and a wide variety of high quality meats. Have everything ranging from lean and fatty ground beef to just about every part of a chicken cow or lamb

Ridley D.

Yelp
Not only incredibly fresh meat, this service is the best you will find anywhere in any store for any product. For instance, I call ahead to get the order I want done, and if I can't park in front, they run the order out, take my credit card, run back in and then run it out again. The owner does this and sets the standard for all. No matter where I live in the city, I will always come to them.

Bob S.

Yelp
Old Throwback neighborhood meat market still making their own sausages, which are the best in the city!!!! The butchers are great and will offer a recipe or cooking method if you're stuck on how to prepare the items they sell.

Bill S.

Yelp
A local, neighborhood butcher that is pretty much the ONLY butcher that know of in a 25 block radius. I love their homemade sausage as well as some funky cuts of meat. They also have a special on Pig Toes @ 1.98 per pound. Me, I'm not really a toe guy so more for you! It gets crazy here during the holidays!

Richard D.

Yelp
Usually a sausagefest would be considered a bad thing, but in Esposito's case, it's awesome! You really can't find butcher shops like this anymore in the country. I have yet to try any of their meats, but it looks fresh and high quality. I usually walk by with my pup and hold him up to the window to look at all of the pork and beef cuts. I finally went in and wanted to see if they had anything suitable for him and sure enough they sell whole cow feet. The butcher was nice enough to even slice it into smaller pieces so I could control the portions. My dog was overjoyed when I gave him fresh cow hooves and feet pieces to chew on. I was even happier that the foot cost about 5 bucks and it kept him busy for hours. No need to waste money on processed animal parts from the pet stores when you can feed them fresh meat.

Andie B.

Yelp
I came here to purchase some steaks for Lapin. The prices are reasonable and they have a decent selection. It's a simple butcher shop but the customer service was great. The gentleman who served me was very friendly and offered a lot of recommendations. I got a rib eye steak, hot Italian sausages and a filet (I forgot the actual name) of steak and Lapin enjoyed each item I got him. He remarked it was very good quality and considers it one of couple of places he would ever get meat from. I just wished they carried more products **hint hint -- perhaps some fresh pasta :)**

Mimi M.

Yelp
I'm so happy that I know about this place. I always call ahead of time so that they can thaw the meat for pickup later in the day. The staff is always helpful and pleasant in my experience thus far. Very reliable people and good product.

Hiram G.

Yelp
I'm been coming to Esposito all my life. My Parents shopped here since 1948. Robert and his staff are the best. Beside getting the finest cut of meat in New York City, they are the nicest people. they have great cold cuts, and tomato sauce, and more. Robert is like his father and uncle that ran the place, Great guy. All I wishes for Robert and his staff is the best of everything. I only say to them, " Please don't ever close" Hiram Cheito Gonzalez

Maria E.

Yelp
Bought my boyfriend filet mignon here to cook for his birthday - he said it was great. Also purchased chicken sausage (the one with apple as well as the one with broccoli rabe & mozzarella) as well as the sweet pork sausage. All were a hit at the BBQ. The prices are very reasonable here. I got 2 medallions of filet mignon and the total was 12.99. The sausage was about 5.99/lb. The service was great - the gentleman serving me was really nice. I was a bit nervous because I've never been here before and wasn't sure what I was getting but he was helpful and friendly and helped me choose. They also accept credit card which is a plus.

Andrew P.

Yelp
It's the little things that go a long way to making a loyal customer: For example, they close at 6:30, but are usually still open and serving last minute customers well past 6:45.They enjoy what their craft, and it shows. I honestly I can only think of good things to say about the staff at Esposito's. I've always been able to get exactly what I needed. The quality of the meat and poultry is excellent, the service is friendly and professional, and the selection is comprehensive. It might not be in the case, but it's probably in the cooler. Don't be afraid to ask questions. They're happy to explain anything you want to know. Great butcher shops are a dying breed, but not extinct. This place is a slice of New York history right here in Hells Kitchen. Oh... and you MUST try the sausage. It's the best!

Ksenia K.

Yelp
Always great experience, fresh meats, friendly service. Hard to find a classic butcher shop like this, very lucky that's in the neighborhood.
