I had been meaning to visit this place for a while because I had heard a lot of good stuff about the coffee. I went on a weekend afternoon and the place was buzzing. Thankfully, they were quite still a few places available to sit down. They have a couple of chairs outdoors as well. If you like to enjoy the sun while sipping on your coffee. The coffee itself was okay. I got my usual iced latte, and I always ask for honey as a sweetener in my latte. Unfortunately, since it is an iced drink, one needs to mix the honey with some hot water and make syrup before adding to the coffee. They did not do that, and as a result, all of the honey was coagulated at the bottom of the drink, making the drink overall quite better. This was such a bummer because in general, the coffee tasted quite great. The atmosphere in general was quite nice and lively, and I could see myself coming here with friends and chilling.

Google
A very cozy cafe on Butler Street. They have several interesting flavor which you can add to almost any type of drink, cold brew, latte, or even espresso. I tried the black sesame latte; it is literally the best latte I had in 2023. The flavor is there! I can feel the scent and taste of black sesame and it works so well with latte!

My sisters and I made a pit stop here while waiting to be seated at a restaurant down the street, and I’m glad we popped in! The staff was very friendly and I loved the atmosphere, the location, and the wood accent furniture. I went with a simple vanilla cold brew with a bit of cream and it was good! My sister also got a black coffee and enjoyed the flavor. Since we were only in town for the weekend, I decided to grab some coffee beans they were selling to take back home with me!

Google
Very friendly customer service. I entered as my usual exhausted self, not knowing where to look or even what I truly wanted. They were kind and patient. It’s well organized and the barista was super quick. Clean, calm environment and delicious food. They carry Baked True North gluten free pastries which are reasonably priced and delicious!!

Google
ok yes great coffee and clean atmosphere and very pleasant place etc BUT this review is mostly for the employee who excitedly started singing the best ever death metal band in denton upon seeing my shirt. I hope you have/had a great birthday you were so nice!

Stopped in for a cuppa on a beautiful fall day in Lower Lawrenceville at Espresso A Mano. Inner city vibes, friendly and welcoming. My flat white was perfect! Thanks ! It's an open environment at the front. Ample seating indoor and outside. Great coffee!

Yelp
If you are in the Lawrenceville area and in need for some caffeine, I highly recommend Espresso a Mano! Both the baked goods and the coffee are insanely tasty for the price. Whenever I stop by I usually grab a latte and a blueberry muffin. They have never disappointed! The Lawrenceville location is a little small, but it's also very cozy. Local artwork is up on the walls for sale which I find to be fun! The baristas are always friendly and work exceptionally fast.

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop. They have all the basics plus some yummy eats. The staff is pretty rad. Cash is preferred. Street parking is available.

Yelp
I like stopping here on my way to get my nails done. The service is always fast and the employees are always pleasant. The iced lattes are always my go to!
google avatar

Yelp
Decent coffee, kudos for use of space, customer service was lacking. Glad to see the old neighborhood getting a new life! On street parking was convenient.

Yelp
Congrats David on your new baby!!! What a great spot. I am not sure who David is but I think he is the owner or an employee but he just had a baby and the community was signing cards for him to congratulate him. Enough said. Great people and great service and very cool chill atmosphere. And for the important part - the coffee - it is excellent. Best in the area in my opinion. We rented an Airbnb for our extended familia about a 10-15 min walk maybe 4 min drive and I ended up picking up 6 cappuccinos every morning for everyone cause that's how I roll. Let's just say no one was disappointed. Enjoy.

Yelp
Great coffee shop on picturesque street in Pittsburgh. Indoor and outdoor seating. Yummy pastries and fabulous coffee. Quick service and relaxing atmosphere.

Yelp
Sitting here drinking this caramel latte and have just decided that this is the best in Pittsburgh. Try it and tell me I'm wrong. Creamy and delicious. Forget Starbucks. It's absolute shite compared to this. I hadnt been here in a long time and just returned. My new (again) favorite coffee.
google avatar

Raghad ..

Yelp
are was very small so couldn't sit and study, all they really had was coffee and a few pastries. their chocolate croissant was good and i had their lattes with sf caramel which was also good.
google avatar

Amy S.

Yelp
Super friendly staff, good music, and plenty of tables to study. I got an almond vanilla latte w/ oat milk and it was oh so good.
google avatar

Yelp
my absolute favorite coffee shop in Lawrenceville! This time I the winter special - golden latte. Variety of spices (turmeric, ginger, black pepper, cinnamon etc) and that vibrant golden color are just perfect for the recent freezing and gloomy days. I opted to coconut milk (because there is a hint of coconut oil in their recipe so I thought it would be interesting to have coconut milk) and made it dirty by adding shots of espresso - it's so good!! Highly recommend - plus not need to mention that all these spices are good for health and immune system for these cold days.
google avatar

Nina B.

Yelp
Wonderful and friendly baristas. I tried an oatmilk latte with the maple cinnamon syrup and it was delicious. I love that they offer so many treats and options for people with allergies. I snagged a packed of cinnamon rolls from Baked True North.
google avatar

Meghna B.

Yelp
Such a cute coffee shop located in Lawrenceville! I tried an iced vanilla latte with oat milk which was very good. You get to pour the milk yourself at the counter which I liked so my latte had just the right amount of milk. The coffee shop itself is cute inside and theres plenty of seating inside and a few tables outside as well. Definitely check it out if you are in the area!

Yelp
Had to update since I have visited Espresso a Mano MANY times since I last reviewed. In my opinion, this is one of the best places for a good cup of coffee/ espresso in the burgh. My go-to is a almond milk latte, or a cup of whatever coffee they have available. Both are always delicious. Brendan always gets a shot in the dark, which is the perfect pick-me-up for long days in the office. The staff are always friendly, and they always have SO many delicious looking pastries from local shops around Pittsburgh. You can't go wrong here!
google avatar

Olivia R.

Yelp
I got a almond milk Latte it was very good! The store was nice and clean and the staff was super friendly. There isn't much seating but I came in the afternoon and got a table. I did get the vegan and gluten free cinnamon rolls they are from another company sold at this coffee place. I would never get them again the man working heated them up for me and the bread was so hard. I only eat vegan and gluten free so I understand ingredients is hard to put together but the bread was so dry and so hard it honestly was terrible.
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot for coffee, barista was friendly, plenty of seating and wifi. Very nice ambiance.
google avatar

Erin H.

Yelp
Cute! This place is a 5/5 for me. Checks all the boxes I want in a coffee shop: cute space, for-here mugs, reasonable price, great tasting coffee. As an added bonus, they had multiple vegan and vegan, gluten free treats AND they let you add your own oat milk. Score. I thus enjoyed the perfect ratio of Americano to oat milk. FYI if you're ordering an americano, the price is the same whether it's an 8 oz or a 12 oz. And I assume the number of espresso shots are the same, so decie how concentrated you want your drink to be in advance. I loved my 8 oz but my friend also loved her 12 oz (but I admittedly like the taste of coffee much more than her in general). Would definitely return. Americano was $2.80.
google avatar

Rachel T.

Yelp
Espresso a mano is my neighborhood coffee shop. I often stop for an iced americano after a run as a little "treat" to myself. The owner and staff are sweet. Cash is preferred and they do not have wifi. In addition to their high quality espresso menu, they have locally made pastries and sandwiches. I always get an americano or a double shot of espresso. The espresso is smooth and almost creamy. They make their own syrups too, and have interesting flavors like 5 spice and chamomile! I love when I get their one outdoor table and can sip my drink while people watching. I highly recommend this place!
google avatar

Florie A.

Yelp
Oh my gosh! Dave is such a great barista. As soon as you walk in to order, he makes you feel welcomed. Very social guy. Few chairs but worth the wait for me because of how nice the staff is. Man, glad they have a restroom because Mother Nature called. It's also a nice place to enjoy good music too while they're singing and doing chores LOL, cute. Great place to catch up with my emails. They don't have wifi so turn on your hotspot or use the public network nearby, if you dare. DUN DUN DUUUN. Btw, I parked on the street. My chai latte was very tasty too!
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered a cortado and cold brew, both were delicious and the staff was super friendly and easy to work with.

Yelp
Came here for a quick coffee and didn't disappoint. Such a cute coffee shop and service was good. I got an iced latte and it tasted great! Would love to come back!

Yelp
Loved this Nutella stuffed donut thing! Great cup of coffee and great vibes. They also had a caprese sandwich which was tasty. Great spot in lawrenceville
google avatar

Ashley S.

Yelp
They seriously have one of the best iced oat milk lattes I've ever had. It only comes in a small cup tho :( The baristas are always so nice too! Even when it's busy you only really have to wait maybe 5 minutes max for your drink. It is a great coffee shop to stop into when you're in a rush. I've never gotten a pastry, but they look super delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
Located in Lawrenceville area this cafe is easily accessible with options for street parking. The coffee is very good and I also recommend their muffins. Quiet environment for talking with friends and no need to shout over other voices.

Yelp
Espresso a Mano is a lovely coffee shop offering rotating seasonal options that are more unique than most options found in Pittsburgh. Thier espresso is smooth and full bodied and the service is always nice and efficient. Highly recommend sitting outside on butler Street to enjoy your coffee while you stay. Definitely one if the best coffee spots in Pittsburgh!
google avatar

Yelp
I live nearby and have gotten into the bad (but good) habit of stopping in to Espresso a Mano multiple times a week. They are always friendly and quick and personally I appreciate that they continue to be Covid-conscious. Their decaf espresso is great. In a world in which decaf is often an afterthought, it doesn't seem to be for them and since I'm temporarily off caffeine I'm grateful. I typically stick with an iced americano, but have also tried it with their housemade syrups (!!) and have been pleasantly surprised. They get their food items from local vendors and everything I've had has been amazing. The breakfast burritos (from Baby Loves Tacos) are gigantic and hearty. I've gotten croissants (both filled and not) multiple times, as well as an amazing lemon-vanilla scone. One lucky Friday I was in and had a pistachio bomboloni - yum! I did work there once and was bummed that there's no WiFi. But I understand that from a business perspective, so no hard feelings there. Happy to have this amazing coffee shop in the neighborhood!

Yelp
Good vibes. Nice people. Reasonably priced food/drink. I like the open air option when weather is nice. Fast and friendly service. My go to spot in Lawrenceville for my vanilla latte.

Yelp
Coffee was amazing and the designs on them were so cool! The people there are so nice and cool. I would definitely recommend going there service is amazing.

Yelp
I've come here before but today left an especially good impression on me. The barista up front is super chill and makes a mean iced mocha. The overall vibes of the place is relaxed. Believe it or not people talk -- to each other-- and are comfortable doing so. But you can also get some work done as well. [Atmosphere] Chill. Rustic brick walls make everything look cool. Plenty of seating. Wooden tables. Abstract art on walls. Newspapers and free "Black Lives Matter" bracelets up for grabs. You get the feel -- Hipster but not mainstream try-hard hipster, if ya know what I mean. [Service] YES. The barista saw I was waiting in line and ensured my order was taken (when people unknowingly cut in front of me). Very considerate and sweet. And she knows her coffee. I've come here before and the service is relatively good. [Coffee] I can only account for their mochas but they are sooo good. Super rich but not too sweet. The chocolate and coffee aren't fighting each other. They're just chilling (literally chilling in ice) together. Try it. Prices are reasonable for the quality.

Yelp
This is a nice coffee shop in Pittsburgh. It is located in a cute part of town with lots of great shops nearby. The interior has an urban feel and there is a lot of seating BUT it is super popular so those seats fill up. Our group of four had a little trouble finding spots together so I recommend going in a smaller group if it is the weekend. They have a lot of options to choose from. I went with the matcha latte. It was super tasty and had a cute heart design which was nice for my instagram shot. My gang all enjoyed their drinks as well as the various pastries purchased. The staff were all very friendly and I saw some patrons come in with their pups which is pretty cool if you like animals. Overall, a nice coffee spot!

Yelp
The is place quite nice. Small but the food is great. Service is nice. Love the view. Sitting out here having brunch while getting some vitamin D. The peace and quietness out of hectic day. So good.

Yelp
Great local cafe with a staff that greets you with a smile and makes a tasty and speedy cortado.
google avatar

Layla K.

Yelp
Super cute coffee shop! Got a Nutella stuffed donut (would highly recommend) and a hot chocolate. I love how they did the little design on top which is typically reserved for coffee which I don't drink so it was fun.
google avatar

Feng L.

Yelp
Excellent cappuccino and croissants, delicious! The drip coffee is acceptable; the neighbourhood is pretty nice so you can sit outside and relax if you are not in a rush.
google avatar

Yelp
This is my go to place when I am visiting from Los Angeles. They make a great latte with whole milk. Superb.
google avatar

Allen H.

Yelp
Update after 18 months.... 4.9/5 stars. Still one of the best shops in Pittsburgh. They make perfect cortados and cappuccinos. The gluten-free cinnamon rolls are AMAZING. They also serve house-made baby pizza rolls in the AM that are super delicious.... My only critique: If the pizza rolls were served with garlic dipping sauce they would be perfect.
google avatar

Zaneta F.

Yelp
They talk about the "face that launch'd a thousand ships." Well, the chai latte I had here ended up being the inspiration for a thousand words+ blog post about the quest for the elusive perfect chai latte . In general, chai lattes tend to run the risk of being too heavy on the spices while being too watery for my taste. But this chai latte was different - there was substance with the right blend of spices and it came with intricate latte art done with cinnamon~ close to perfect. The staff provided great service as well and the environment was very welcoming!
google avatar

Abigail G.

Yelp
This is what a community business looks like. Good coffee, staff, and limited cafe seating is available inside.
google avatar

Aaron K.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots for coffee - they offer breakfast burritos from baby loves tacos from time to time, and the hot sauce on the side is so good. I tend to set high expectations of how shops do their iced mochas, and they never disappoint.
google avatar

Deb D.

Yelp
Stopped in yesterday and had a oat latte. Everyone was so friendly and their blend of coffee is wonderful definitely recommend.
google avatar

Ashley S.

Yelp
This is a really cute little spot! It is a bit on the crowded side, but the coffee more than makes up for it! The coffee is somewhat kind of expensive but totally worth it!
google avatar

Yelp
Small shop, unassuming just really, really good coffee! Prices are good and the people are awesome. Plenty of room to work at the tables, free WiFi and lots of room Open air on nice days and being in the heart of larryville you can't lose!!

Yelp
I stopped by here a couple of Saturdays ago with my wife. We decided to head here because it was on the Pittsburgh Coffee Passport. I had also been looking forward to coming back here again as my first visit was well, interesting, and everyone working here was amazingly nice and fantastic. You see I had dislocated my shoulder ( a whole different story) just outside of their shop and since I was without a cell phone they allowed me to use their phone and sit in the back even though I was a sweaty mess. So for that I will always think highly of Espresso A Mano. In any case, during this visit I was finally able to take in the shop. Immediately upon entering there is some seating off to the left and then a place to order straight ahead. There is also a bar along side an exposed brick wall and then some seating in the back. On this morning I decided to go with a cappucino and an almond croissant. The croissant ended up tasting quite good as the pastry was light and fluffy and both my wife and I loved that almond flavor. After eating the croissant I started in on my latte. It was a solid cappuccino as the coffee flavor was smooth and the milk had a nice foam to it. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. All of the employees here were super nice and accommodating on my first visit and the coffee was good on my second.
google avatar

Yelp
great americano ! couldn't say no to the chocolate chip cookie staring me in the face. it was very delicious. lovely employees and good pricing.
google avatar

Lana L.

Yelp
Ordered a hazelnut latte and a cranberry scone here while waiting for my table at Coca Cafe down the street. Pretty much nowhere else was opened, so my friend and I stopped here for coffee. Inside is pretty much your standard coffee shop atmosphere: cozy, small tables, brick walls. My latte and scone were good, but I've definitely had better. Taste | 3 Atmosphere | 3 Presentation | 3 Service | 3.5 OVERALL | 3

Yelp
What a disappointment. I went here on a Saturday afternoon. The place seemed pretty cool and I liked how people sat comfortable with their laptops and books enjoying their coffee. My main frustration is around the following points. First, the place was not very busy when I came and yet it took them 10 minutes to realize that they forgot to make my cappuccino. After I reminded them, I was brought a luke warm cappuccino. The coffee itself was good but the experience of having luke warm cappuccino was not. Second, the water pitcher was empty, and had to struggle to fill up a glass of water. Third, the music playlist was pretty good. However, coming out of an old computer loudspeaker took away a lot of the experience. I would highly recommend them in investing in a better sound. Overall, I don't think I'll be back.

Yelp
I ventured to Lawrenceville to experience this coffee shop that so many others have enjoyed, and I was not disappointed. At first, I was slightly skeptical as the cashier was not very friendly. I'm 100% sure that I told her that I wanted my coffee and pastry for there, yet she gave me a disposable cup and bag for my pastry to go. The barista, however, was very friendly as she handed me my cappuccino. Space is a little tight, but I managed to sit at a table for two and get some major studying accomplished. The cappuccino was very delicious. The pastry was so fresh! It was enough to make me want to return for more. Lots of different people entered on this particular day. There may have been a Small Business Saturday special, but I was too engrossed in my GRE practice test. If you're looking to get some work done in a cool vibe while sipping on real coffee, this is your place to do it.
google avatar

Jackie Z.

Yelp
A great place to sit and enjoy the luxury of a strong cup of latte and/or just get mad work done. A little on the pricier side, but I think they make up for it by adding an extra shot of expresso. (NOT CONFIRMED - just tasted strong which is exactly how I like it). I'll ask next time :p In addition, great working space with lots of tables, lots of outlets, and outside seating for those warmer days.

Yelp
One of the best coffee shops in the Pittsburgh area, and certainly my favorite spot in Lawrenceville for a cup of Joe. This is a true coffee shop, with baristas whose passion is serving up only the best, high quality coffee. I'm a simple coffee drinker and it is always so consistent and tastes like real coffee; never watered-down or burnt tasting. Quality coffee is what you receive at Espresso A Mano. For fixings they offer both soy & almond milk options, and a simple syrup made from sugar-in-the-raw (many coffee shops don't offer these specialty items). They also carry an assortment of fresh baked goods from local bakeries--lots of delicious options to try. Ambiance: Cozy inside. Multiple tables and chairs that are always packed with people. Exposed brick and HVAC, and the chalkboard menu give it a modern feel. The retractable garage door opens up in warmer months allowing the fresh air to come in. Staff: Friendly staff, always eager to answer any questions you may have. They put a lot of care into their drinks so don't expect something to be served to you in a matter of seconds. Overall, charming coffee shop. I'm never had a bad experience here nor have I been served an unpleasant drink. I recommend this place to everyone I know!
google avatar

Dana N.

Yelp
There's so much to love here: the coffee (one of my favorite mochas in the city), the location, the view (I love the contrast of the smooth, calm vibe indoors while observing the hustle and bustle of people and cars outside... it's especially a treat in the summer when the garage doors are open), and the people. I'm lucky enough to get to work from coffee shops throughout the week, and EAM is one of my favorites. The vibe encourages creativity and productivity. And let's not forget the blueberry/lemon scone that they almost always keep on hand. This coffee shop would easily get 5 stars from me if only there was a bit more seating. It's sometimes difficult to find a place to sit.
