Esquire by Cooper’s Hawk wows with a chic, multi-level Gold Coast spot blending upscale comfort, rotating celebrity chef menus, and an epic wine tower.
"Citing underperformance, Cooper’s Hawk will close its restaurant along Oak Street. The wine-focused chain, based in Downers Grove, opened its sole Chicago location in November 2019, hoping to elevate the brand and give wine club members — especially tourists — a downtown destination. It brought in visiting celebrity chefs for events to generate buzz. CEO and founder Tim McEnery tells Crain’s that tourists showed up, but ultimately that wasn’t enough for the 24,000-square-foot space. The restaurant’s final service is Monday, July 17." - Ashok Selvam
"It will be a sibling restaurant to Esquire by Cooper’s Hawk, the Gold Coast spot that opened this spring with the promise of a different celebrity guest chef every quarter." - Naomi Waxman

"In honor of all dads, the restaurant and winery chain will provide the essentials for grilling at home on Father’s Day. For $199.99, customers will receive a kit that serves four and includes pretzel bread, bruschetta, eight-ounce filets, baked potatoes, asparagus, and lemon pound cake. A suggested wine pairing of Cooper’s Hawk Luxe Cabernet Sauvignon is an additional $35.99. Online orders can be placed here." - Jeffy Mai
"Uber-popular suburban winery restaurant chain Cooper’s Hawk has an opening date for its first city of Chicago location. Ownership hopes to open its largest location yet, at the three-floor former Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse space at 58 E. Oak Street in the Gold Coast, on November 11, the Tribune reports. Stay tuned for more details before the opening." - Daniel Gerzina
