Google
Big sandwich from a big menu. Seems to be a nice local business. I'd like to come here more regularly and show them my support. Yum!

Google
0 stars! My company ordered Estela’s via Forkable and ALL OF OUR SALADS had live bugs all over them. Small black bugs in every single salad. It was truly horrendous - likely the lettuce? I would not recommend.

Annie

Google
good sandwich spot in the neighbourhood! good portion and prices very extensive menu with vegetarian options as well ordered the east coast west coast beef

Efan Hsieh

Google
Got a half size Italian sandwich here which was very fresh and also huge! The owner is one of the nicest people I've met. Place is small with limited seating but clean. Lots of options on the menu including vegetarian sandwiches, salads and smoothies.

Margaret Okuzumi

Google
Large, good quality, tasty sandwiches. We pre-ordered 8 of them, almost all different ones for a family event. Each sandwich came labeled with name and menu item number to make it easy to identify which sandwich was which, and were prepared to the timing we asked for. The manager Mark was a pleasure to work with on the phone and everything was smooth and easy. Would order from them again next time we're in town. Note that none of the online ordering sites are theirs, but you can view the menus there then call them directly to order.

Google
Great little sandwich spot. We love getting their sandwiches on the way to a picnic. Extensive menu with loads of options for both meat eaters and vegetarians. My personal favorite is the smoked out. I used to always switch my bread choice to ditch crunch for every sandwich, since it's my favorite, but have come to trust the recommended bread choice - they know what they're talking about. They also have coffee and smoothies.

Google
I’ve been a regular at estelas for three years! My favorite order is the veggie muffuletta with sourdough and smoked Gouda. They have awesome vegetarian options and the salads are great as well. Perfect sandwich place to have in the neighborhood.

Google
I like this little, family run place. They have a lot of rather healthy sandwich options. Also, they serve fresh juices and smoothies that are made of fresh vegetables and fruits right there in front of you. If you want some serious fresh juice, forget all the overpriced chains they might even water up their drinks - here they use only real ingredients. And the prices are fair too.

Yelp
I probably have a tuna sandwich from a deli in the city at least once a week. This has to be one of the top tuna sandwiches that I've had. I think what really makes it is the super fresh ingredients. Everything from the dill in the tuna to the tomato and sprouts were at peak freshness. My sandwich was delivered so I don't know what the restaurant is like inside/ their customer service. Very happy with my tuna sandwich!

Yelp
Great place! There's an entire deli's worth of vegetarian options. It's priced pretty reasonably too, considering how hefty the sandwiches are. The Greek sandwich is my favorite right now.

Yelp
Great neighborhood spot for a deli sandwich! They're huge and everything tastes really fresh. We shared the Avalon which was pretty good. Would be curious to try other sandwiches and see if they're better. The avalon tasted a tad bit "too healthy". But Jen, why is that bad? I mean, if thats your thing, more power to you. But when I want a deli sandwich, I was that unhealthy taste- the bacon, the thick slab of mayo, an ungodly amount of meat. Ya feel me? Their hangover smoothie was very tasty though. That alone is worth the trip.

Yelp
They have a long list of sandwiches. I picked the "fillmore" and it was alright, but a basic sub sandwich with deli turkey ham mayo onions lettuce veggies etc. The bread is basic. I liked the sandwich. I work nearby now. I wish the prices were $2 less at $10. I don't like overpriced deli sandwiches. I like em cheap. I would come back but sparingly because i'm cheap sometimes. It's healthy. Neat band posters on wall. Have you met Estela?

Yelp
Best sandwiches in SF. Get the Italian, you won't regret it. Awesome family business.

Yelp
Used to be my favorite sandwich place other than Ratto's in Oakland but won't be coming back after today. First thing we noticed is that some of the deli items we have been ordering for years (more than a decade) were no longer on the menu--not totally surprising if unexpected. But when we got there two things we immediately noticed. The proprietor wasn't there making sandwiches with love as she has for years and our sandwich weren't ready. Won't be returning to a place we used to love.

Yelp
I work nearby so when I don't bring lunch this is one of my go to spots for a great sandwhich. The staff is friendly and the food quality is great. I love the pastrami sandwhich the best but I always try something new on their menu. So far I have not been disappointed in any of their sandwiches. The space is small so when they have a line it's hard to your order. I place my online order through Yelp and when it's ready I pop in and let them know I'm there and they will bring my order out to me, they are the best!

Yelp
Absolutely incredible, amazing sandwiches (and every other superlative you can tack on). I don't know how I missed this gem for the 20 years it's been in the lower Haight but I'm hooked. You can build your own sandwich or order off the menu. I had the brie & Virginia ham sandwich on a soft roll with pea shoots (ultra fresh and crunchy greens) and a large Liver Lover juice ($7, beet juice, carrot, lemon and celery.) My son had a delicious pastrami sandwich and a large smoothie (The Twanger) that was out of this world: pineapple, mango, vanilla yogurt, peach and orange juice, $7.25. Most thoughtful was the owner putting the smoothie in the freezer as I was maddeningly detained at Whole Paycheck. Estela's is now on my circuit. If you haven't been, go there for a sandwich, salad, juice or smoothie - or have it delivered.

Yelp
Very fresh top 3 best sandwiches in town. But.....It be great if they answer their phone ever. I just order through DoorDash forgot to say no mustard just tried to call eight times and it goes to voicemail and says the box is full. Plus the last time I ordered it never showed up and when I tried to call the restaurant they were already closed so something needs to be fixed with to go orders. I've been eating here for over 20 years and used to do phone to go orders all the time it was my go to lunch place but these days unless you're parked in the neighborhood by them it's sometimes hard to get a sandwich.

Yelp
Used to be my favorite sandwich shop has always been on the pricey side but thought it was worth it given the size and quality. Recently got one for lunch and surprised about the size and the cost (over $13 pre tip). Im assuming they had to because of rent.

Yelp
Delicious sandwich and friendly owners. Fresh ingredients daily along w plenty of choices from sandwiches to frozen smoothies to help with hang overs. Recommend this place to anyone in the area looking to have a nice meal, great prices for the food as well. 10/10!

Bex E.

Yelp
Reliably yummy. Quick & kind service. Neighborhood mom & pop deli + juice spot--what's not to like!!
google avatar

Elvin L.

Yelp
Sandwiches here are massive. Great place for lunch with so many options to choose from especially veg options!
google avatar

Yelp
I came here as a vegetarian with a pescatarian boyfriend and omnivore parents for a picnic lunch to-go. The place is pretty small so I'd imagine most people get to-go as well. I was very impressed with their menu that had a wide variety of both meat and vegetarian options. Really creative options too, much more than you would find at an average deli (esp. for a vegetarian). Honestly, being a vegetarian I can usually order with a minute or 2 because there are just a few options, but here it took me a while because all the veggie sandwiches sounded so good! I settled on the Veggie Muffelatta + cheese and avo, my boyfriend and Mom both got Fresh Herbed Albacore Tuna and Dad got the Smoked Turkey. Everyone enjoyed their sandwich and found the portions to be large, flavors unique and bread tasty. I am already planning what I want to get when I go back next (Brie Sandwhich... yum). I think the value is fair for here in SF, around $9-10 dollars. But they definitely have a strong veggie sandwich competitor around the corner with Love N Haight whose sandos are around $6-$7.

Yelp
Best sandwich shop in town. Every sandwich tastes very fresh. I recommend No 7 - the Tuna sandwich with sprouts is amazing. Kind staff, perfect quick lunch spot if you are in the area.

Yelp
Okay so..the sandwich was good..but not amazing. Not just that, the bread..HOLY MOLY is it HARD. Like, if you have bad teeth, or even dentures..yeah, there's no way you're going to be eating that sandwich. Literally had the most difficult time ripping it apart, and it was overly chewy. Took me almost 30 minutes to eat that sandwich. I do give praise for Estela (I'm assuming) making it all on her own and all, but..also..2 sandwiches were $27 bucks. Pretty pricey. Went here because it was right across the street from our AirBnB, and we had to get breakfast quick. Customer service was also lacking, and the airflow inside was nonexistent.

Michael T.

Yelp
Tried placing order online but website had issues. Ordered through Uber eats for pickup instead. Walked in and entire staff seemed confused. Was asked if I knew what I ordered. Got handed a bag and upon getting home realized my $13 turkey sandwich had no turkey.
google avatar

Mono L.

Yelp
I had the Avalon. Turkey & Roast Beef. It had everything you would want in a sandwich. Lettuce, sprouts, tomato, onion, avocado, peperchinis, gudda, mayo, mustard. No jalapeños. It's a good sandwich, ask to heat it up though. If u don't ask they won't ask. Makes a big difference. I recommend I will return Good stuff

Yelp
Great little sandwich shop in the Lower Haight. Fresh ingredients. Good prices. Tasty.

Yelp
Ordered 3 sandwiches today. The carrot, which people raved about the bread on Yelp, but it was pretty standard whole wheat bread... like supermarket wheat bread. My Italian style The Double was pretty boring. Would have liked a vinaigrette, onions, and way better bread. But the third sandwich was for my kids, and I specifically said it was a kids sandwich and we ONLY wanted ham, Swiss, avocado and mayonnaise on it. I specifically mentioned I didn't want lettuce on it -- only the ingredients I mentioned. But it had mustard(????) and lettuce on it, which made it basically inedible for the intended purpose. If the adult sandwiches were good I'd try again being even more explicit about the kids sandwich, but they weren't, so will move on.

Yelp
I have been a long time customer here. There Sandwiches/ Smoothies are great! Unfortunately today I got a sandwich & there was hair in it. I'll probably still buy smoothies here but they just lost a sandwich customer

Mother M.

Yelp
ALways fresh and delicious sandwiches. Super filling and great dressings. The best selection of Veggie sandwiches in the neighborhood, maybe the City! Only thing is that they close at 4pm.;(

Denis S.

Yelp
So good! I never ate this kind of so delicious sandwiches. Of course I recommend this place to everybody. And the employees are so nice! The best place in San Francisco ! In the world? No ! In the universe. Denis victor Sanchez

Kevin M.

Yelp
Always happy with whatever I get here but the cow palace is really good. Super fresh veggies as well
google avatar

Karen F.

Yelp
I think I found my new fav for tuna salad sandwiches! I haven't tried other sandwiches since I only eat seafood, but my fam has also tried the vegetarian and meat sandwiches and they enjoyed it, too Def try it out if you're in the area.
google avatar

Amy M.

Yelp
I was excited to come here but then I saw that the owner (I'm guessing) only puts on a mask when there's a customer, so potential germs fill the store in the meantime. I had to leave.
google avatar

Ken B.

Yelp
I love this place! I've been coming here for years and the sandwiches and juices are always fresh and tasty. The sandwiches are big and hearty, sometimes I can only finish half and save the othe half for later. The Fillmore is my favorite, but they're all awesome!
google avatar

Huey N.

Yelp
I've been here a handful of times. Most of the sandwiches taste pretty standard, but Avalon has been my clear favorite. The pepperonis and smoked Gouda make the sandwich. It's kind of ideal in terms off cold deli meat sandwiches.
google avatar

Tim K.

Yelp
Hidden gem. Has been open for decades. The owners are great people. Extremely well priced. Everything is fresh (they even crack and whip their own eggs for their egg sandwiches). Will be coming back as soon as possible. A+ spot!
google avatar

Raymond G.

Yelp
The staff is nice, the food is delicious and healthy and is reasonably priced given it's in the Lower Haight. Their smoothies are tasty and energizing and I recommend their half sandwiches for around $6 because the portion is big. They also serve wheat grass shots. It's Lower Haight's healthy oasis.

Sunya N.

Yelp
Fresh ingredients, large, tasty and reasonably priced. Good vegetarian options as well.
google avatar

Megan D.

Yelp
I was impressed with the size and quality of the sandwich I had here yesterday, which was just under $10. I believe it was the #3, it had roast beef, smoked Gouda, and horseradish. Would love to try their fresh juices and iced blended mocha sometime!
google avatar

Sharvari J.

Yelp
Excellent sandwich place near my place and a go-to post drinking night out hangover spot. We especially like the make your own options which mean it's a crowd pleaser. Although I wish they had slightly more options I always enjoy whatever I get. The service is very kind and accommodating. We made a last minute addition and they were very kind about it
google avatar

Ryan K.

Yelp
Good sandwich but their pricing is subversive! If they want to increase the prices fine, but make it clear by adjusting the actual menu prices instead of hiding a 10% surcharge.
google avatar

Lolia S.

Yelp
These are super fresh sandwiches piled high with good ingredients on good bread. Their specialty sandwiches are a bit more creative than usual, some include brie and others feta. There are several tuna salad sandwiches, and many vegetarian options. The "works" includes mayo, mustard, tomatoes, red onions and pea sprouts. I believe they make some of their dressings. You can also get juices, smoothies, salads and soups. I didn't see any toasted or hot options (too bad). They made the sandwich to order very quickly. #4 - Herbed albacore tuna salad sandwich on herbed foccacia ($6.75). The sandwich was 3.5 inches tall! The focaccia was thick and soft so I was able to squish the sandwich down to be able to bite into it. Loved the pea sprouts; they add such a distinctive flavor to the sandwich. Loved the creamy slices of avocado too. The tomato slices were thick and ripe and they were generous with the tuna salad. The tuna salad had chopped red bell peppers and fresh dill but still tasted a bit plain. You get a lot of bread and a lot of fixings - good stuff.
google avatar

Julie K.

Yelp
Fresh sandwiches and half soup/half sandwich option if you want to mix it up. Ingredients are fresh and bread is soft. Not incredibly pricey.

Tyler B.

Yelp
My order is never correct. Today I ordered a chicken Caesar sandwich and it literally didn't even have the chicken on it. I've given this place multiple chances and I've never gotten what I've ordered. Don't waste your money.
google avatar

Nina S.

Yelp
A tiny place in lower Haight with huge sandwiches to fill you up or have leftovers for afternoon munch. They have delicious smoothie as well but due to popularity it can be a long wait. Getting my bbb berry took 15-20on so not the place of you want something instantly. Value 4/5 Atmosphere 3.5/5 cramped Service 2.5/5 Quality4/5 14/20
google avatar

Rachel D.

Yelp
(#31 Green green, please..) Just as good as it used to be when it was "Big Sherm's". Their sandwiches are consistently fresh and delicious, and a dream for vegetarians though they have meat options too. It's very clean though not big on ambiance.
google avatar

Kelly R.

Yelp
I've admittedly never tried Estela's sandwiches, but I love stopping by this neighborhood gem for fresh, affordable juices. You can make your own (pick 3 ingredients), but I almost always get the Seven Seas. Where else in San Francisco can you get a made-to-order juice for $6?
google avatar

Dee C.

Yelp
74 really good reviews and not one picture of their GINORMOUS, mouth watering, flavor explosive sandwiches? I've walked by this place since 2007 and the friendly avocado beckons each and every time. Each time I had already eaten so I kept putting off trying this spot. What a mistake! I'm determined to come back and try everything vegetarian. granted, I only had a sandwich. and i was FAMISHED. i hadn't eaten in 6 hours. bricks looked good to me at that point. but i took a bite and fell into blissful smacking. didn't try the smoothies but they also sound delish! and at $3.50 they are much cheaper than at Sidewalk Juice on 21st ($4.95 a pop!). the sandwiches rock too, at $6-8 for a whole, and around $4.5 for half. The Sandwich Place on Mission has pretty yummy, cheap sandwiches too (and much closer), but i'd trek here any day for a sandwich! pst i posted a picture of my share of heaven.

Yelp
I ordered the Italian thru Uber eats. I received a messy, gigantic, terrible tasting sandwich. - A ton of meat with barely any veggies - Messy; tons of balsamic dressing made my avocado slushy. The top half of my sandwich kept sliding off. It was also so messy I had to dry it with paper towels before I attempted to eat it. Also I don't understand why they put balsamic dressing in it. I'd rather have an aioli or a pesto spread - Sourdough bread was extremely tough to eat. Very hard and a bit too sour This was my first and last experience here. I've had much better experiences ordering sandwiches from other spots in the city

Cheryl W.

Yelp
I'm hooked on Albacore tuna; grew up with New Orleans French bread that is "po boy" crispy hard core though the inside bread fine for me. Again, lifetime New Orleans French Bread is not soft: Po boys accommodate roast beef gravy albacore tuna delicious to me; if I don't feel like cheese, I put it to side and eat it before day gone. I have no complaint buy em two at a time and eat off of 'em for 2 weeks. So different sensibilities found them more than accommodating.
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
I'm sorry this place has to get itself together I'll make this simple 1. Prices are different from the board 2. They need to wash the blended befor making another drink 3 they got a kitchen use it dint just use the microwave to cook (saw them cook an egg in it)
google avatar

Jennifer D.

Yelp
I order from here on door dash a few days ago and, as much as I want to give a good review, I cannot. My and my boyfriends order was not complicated or anything, we made our bread choice (focaccia) and I requested no sprouts on mine (I have a good sensitivity to them.) when we got our order, the bread was wrong and I had sprouts on my sandwich. Now, if they ran out my the bread we wanted, that's mine, but in those situations I have been contacted to ask what my next choice in bread was, but that is not what happened. I'm disappointed. They had great reviews and they are not cheap sandwiches. I don't think I will be ordering again.

Yelp
Got the #20, Smoked Turkey II with dill havarti, artichcke spread, sprouts, tomato & onions on an onion roll minus tomatoes and onions and add avocado ($7) enjoyed the onion roll a lot, the large amount of avocado, cheese, and turkey, and that they have sprouts! yay for sprouts! -1 star because 1) I'm a fan of hot sandwiches and 2)their turkey had a liiiiiiiittle bit of an off taste

David F.

Yelp
Thank you for still being open for take-out and continuing to provide your fantastic sandwich's and juices.
google avatar

Theresa N.

Yelp
I always order from them via DoorDash and their turkey sandwich is by far the best sandwich I have ever tasted. Big portions and super tasty! Will continue to order from them!!

Yelp
Delicious vegetarian sandwiches. They're massive--layer upon layer of goodness cozied between fresh bread. Delivery was quick & easy.
