Estia Review - Midtown Village - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"This Greek spot has multiple rooms, including a private one that fits up to 12 people, and the whole place has enough square footage to be the size of a small neighborhood park. So it’s perfect for a last-minute group dinner when you all realize that nobody in your friend group made a reservation. Order some of their classic dishes like fried calamari with marinara, a couple of mezze (like potato skordalia and salmon tartare), lamb shank drenched in a peppery red wine sauce, and plenty of wine." - Candis R. Estia catered for my birthday party. Many of our guests commented on how lovely the food was and we ourselves were delighted with it. The restaurant communicated really well with us and everything was exactly as we were promised. They also accommodated supplying extras such as serving dishes which was something that we requested. They delivered the food to our venue and collected the serving dishes after. We would definitely recommend them to others. Thank you.

Lovely food with a great range of options and very reasonably priced. Chicken souvlaki, vegan moussaka and the meze to start were all delicious. Lovely homely feel to the restaurant, we will be back.

Thank you Estia for giving us the wedding of our dreams. From planning to final touches, the whole thing was minimum stress and maximum happiness. First and foremost, we want to acknowledge how lucky we feel that Estia hosted us to be part of our day and make it as perfect as possible, rather than using our wedding to make as much money as possible - a rarity nowadays! The quality, personal touches and attention to detail we love Estia for (typically for small 2-6 person meals) didn’t suffer in the slightest even with almost 50… from constant drinks top-ups to incredible, hot, delicious food - as always. Everything was designed and delivered to exactly what we wanted, from allowing us decorate, to the (predominantly vegan) food and drink choices, to our order and timings. Our meal was relaxed, informal and happy - everything we dreamt of. All our family and friends could see why we have fallen in love with Estia over and over again, over the almost two decades we have been visiting! Our wedding with Estia was perfect - and we don’t say that lightly.

This is a lovely unpretentious restaurant. Tasty home cooked food and very vegetarian friendly. Delightful service and reasonable prices. The house wine was also delicious but my absolute highlight was the warm baklava with ice cream, so good.

We visited this restaurant for a meal as part of a hen do, and it was absolutely perfect! I had the vegan moussaka, which was amazing—one of the best I've ever had. Everyone in our group loved their food too; everything was delicious. The decor is so cute and really made us feel like we were on holiday. The staff were incredibly lovely and made our evening even more special. Highly recommend!

My wife and I had the most wonderful meal here last night for her birthday. Im so glad we chose this restaurant as the food was so lovely and tasty, the service was excellent and it was such great value too - plus the restaurant had a lovely authentic feel to ir. Next time we visit Brighton we will definitely come back again. Highly recommended to all

Such a cute restaurant! Very cosy and just off of the busier streets. The owners were so sweet and the food was absolutely delicious! You have to try the desserts, too. Lovely environment. Highly recommend!

For a lovely, unpretentious dining experience with delicious, home-cooked food and fantastic vegetarian choices, this is a winner! The delightful service and very reasonable prices seal the deal, making it a top pick for us. Be sure to try their chicken souvlaki and swordfish they are real highlights.

Yelp
I came here after seeing an offer in the The Argus to dine for £10. I'm so pleased I did because we had such a lovely time here. Estia is everything a great Greek (Cypriot) restaurant should be - located in a light and airy building, run by a cheerful family, authentic Greek dishes with a modern twist, the best ingredients and organic, free-range meats. It can be a family affair during the day but transforms itself to a romantic location in the evening. There's a wide selection of meze, salads and vegetarian dishes. The mezes start at just £12.95 per person. We ordered the Meat meze which includes olives, dips, warm pitta bread, grilled halloumi cheese, kefdedakia, dolmades, Cyprus village salad, fried potatoes & choice of moussaka, stiado, pork souviake or sheftalia. It was so good that I'm salivating just thinking about it. I have it on good authority that the swordfish skewers and Karpasia Moussaka are key mains here so I'm already planning my second visit.

Yelp
I recently went on a date here...since we both love Greek food, it seemed like a good idea. Turned out we were right! The food was delicious- we ordered the seafood mezze sharer, which involved dips and pitta with olives, followed by mussels, calamari, giant king prawns and sword fish (especially good!) and Mediterranean veg. We substituted fried haloumi for dolmades and they were literally the best I've ever eaten! The menu is extensive, but the mezze sharers (meat, veggie or seafood) are definitely the easiest and most economical way (£12.95-£14.95 pp) to sample the menu, if there are a few of you. The service is friendly- but be warned, the wait for food can be a bit long if the restaurant is busy- the place is family run, which is lovely, but they could do with a few extra members of staff! The only disappointment was the decor. The space is not overly inviting or cosy. Neither is it traditional in any way. There is a distinctly clinical feeling about the place, probably because it is quite colourless- we were hoping for a more traditional, vibrant atmosphere. However, there is no denying that the food is fantastic- I will definitely go again...

Yelp
Estia is a typical Greek restaurant, family run, gorgeous food and very friendly atmosphere. The interior so amazingly authentic its like a lil beach taverna, with white tiled floors, crisp white table cloths and simple flowers. We had a work party there for 50 people and that sort if event suits Estia perfectly. The menu is absolutely gorgeous with lots of feta, seafood and eat dishes, Greek is y favourite cuisine so I may be bias but there's something on there for everyone. Unusually for a Greek restaurant Estia offers takeaway service, so you can delicious moussaka and calamaris delivered straight to your door

Yelp
Tucked slightly away off Western Road, this little gem is definitely worth a visit. It's difficult to write about Estia without spouting out a list of good restaurant cliches such as good atmosphere, decor, great food and wine, friendly staff, but I just can't help myself. After trawling the internet for a nice authentic Greek restaurant to visit (and being sorely disappointed by our first choice), we stumbled upon Estia and have never looked back. Family run, it prides itself on its fine, authentic Greek cuisine. The food is immense. Their Kefdedakia and Kleftiko were the highlights; the succulent lamb slipped gracefully off its shoulder at the touch of a knife. Half of my family are Greek Cypriot, so I'm well versed in a good Greek dish. Most of the dishes at Estia would give my nan a run for her money. Speaking of money, we enjoyed a 2 course meal for two with wine for just under £30, and we left full and happy.

Yelp
Estia is very much a family run restaurant. This definitely shines through in the relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The decor is easy on the eyes and and we felt welcome from the moment we walked in. The staff were a little hectic (would you have it any other way in an authentic Greek resturant?), but efficient and friendly. The starters were very tasty and surprisingly large. The mains were also lovingly prepared. The meat of the souvlaki was beautifully tender, well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Top marks! The Stifado, always a favourite for anyone that has ever spent time in Greece, was both tasty and authentic. Although we didn't order it, the Klefitko was also very popular. It looked and smelled superb. Looking around, lots of people also went for the Meze selection. This is a good way to try various dishes and we might try this next time. The mains also came in rather large portions - so large in fact that we struggled to finish everything. So make sure you're hungry! With a small but fine and very fairly priced wine list, reasonable food prices and a nice cosy ambience, there really is little to complain about here. I would have given 5 stars, but for three small (and I do mean small) niggles. 1. How can you run a Greek restaurant and NOT serve Gyros in at least some form?? How about sliced and then baked in the oven in a metaxa cream sauce - one of my all time favourties....mmm 2. The food took a little longer to arrive than you would expect in a restaurant of this size. 3. How about a shot of Ouzo on the house for couples that spend over 50 quid? Would make it feel more athentic.

derek a.

Yelp
5 of us for a birthday treat..couldn't fault it, and we know our greek food. Saturday night very busy, good job we booked. Staff were excellent, food fresh, prices fair, what more could you ask?

Yelp
I absolutely love Greek food and Estia has to be the best I've had outside of Greece. As with a lot of Greet restaurants its family run and it has been one of the most authentic looking places I've seen, its like walking into an island taverna. The best feature of this restaurant is that they offer an delivery service! I haven't tried but I'm planning to for the novelty.

Yelp
Good food well cooked and full of flavour We went mid-week so the atmosphere was not great, a few big groups and us a table of 4. The staff were pleasant and non-imposing. The food was what I would expect from a Greek restaurant, n nothing to fancy, but cooked to perfection. I can't comment to much on the selection of drinks, we had beer, of which there was only one choice. I would go again, great for big groups.

Yelp
Fantastic ambiance, great food, friendly staf, interesting (Greek & Cypriot) wines. The Cyprus 5 Meze is great value and a good meal, though the restaurant can struggle when very busy with large parties, so don't be in a hurry. Choose something light for the final course ( meat, fish, veggie options) as you'll be struggling by the end. Try some of the Greek wines - different, fresh, and a perfect complement to the food. Never had a bad meal here, and recommend it heartily.

Yelp
Unpretentious, excellent food, friendly and great value. One of my favourite restaurants in Brighton.

Yelp
I can only echo what has been said by previous commentators about Estia. Friendly staff, tasty and honest food, good wine. Estia and Tookta's Thai cafe are both places near to where I live and my partner and I have been meaning to visit them for months. We've now been to both and loved each restaurant as much as the other. Unlike Thai food, I'm not a massive fan of Greek food, but I'd happily go back to Estia's - and almost certainly will over the next few months. Although I don't eat meat, there were still several options for me on the menu, including a few I've never come across before. Although the meal wasn't cheap, it was good value compared to plenty of other places in Brighton and because the atmosphere in Estia's is so relaxed we had a really good evening. My one gripe? They could have dimmed the lights a little earlier.

Yelp
If your after good food in comfortable surroundings then this is the place to go!! We have been here several times and have enjoyed each visit. Prices are reasonable and the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming!! Try the steak!! It's to die for!! One of our favourite restaurants in The UK.
