Estrada’s Restaurant Closes in Daly City After 102 Years - Eater SF

"Serving Daly City for more than a century, Estrada’s Restaurant closed yesterday after 102 years in business. The Daly City Mexican restaurant was perhaps most famous for its sizzling tostada, a salad with beans, chorizo, cheese, black olives, and red wine vinaigrette served on a hot iron plate. While business had started falling off in recent years, the restaurant received some more attention when it was featured on Food Network’s Restaurant Impossible in 2013. But now, the owners of 12 years want to retire and are selling Estrada’s. It will soon reopen as a Mediterranean restaurant from friends of the owners." - Janelle Bitker

The owner was lovely! Made us margaritas to sip while we waited for her to open. Treated us with love and kindness and the drink was the bomb too. I’ll be back!

Went by for late lunch; fajitas served with caramelized onions and red peppers were excellent. Pretty good margaritas, too. Ask for Bernadette.

We were here during a 60 person rush the other night. Even with that insane rush they set up an intimate table off to the side. We ended up preferring that table to what we would have had otherwise. It was an amazing night. The pitcher of Margaritas was a great call. Listen to their suggestions on what to order, they know their menu really well.

Heard about this family owned Mexican restaurant so we decided to try for a lunch. The quaint family owned business is somewhat hidden just South of Second Street with parking adjacent to the building. It seat maybe 36 and had a bustling lunch business they day we ate there. It has a lunch "specials" daily and a fairly extensive menu. The Spanish was the best I have ever had, very light. Food was excellent and reasonably priced.

Went to Estradas while on vacation in SF on impulse and we were not disappointed. The owner was so sweet. .worked with our 3 little kids to pick out their meals, she danced with them, played with them..like a real life grandmother. ..they didn't want to leave after our meal! The meal was so good...didn't know fried plantains and cinnamon could be so good!..we will be going again next visit to SF.

Excellent hostess who made us feel so welcome and made our first day in SF memorable. She had great tips on where to eat and what to do!!! The food was delicious, and her recommendations really helped. She made us a killer margarita ❤️ The taquitos were excellent and the chicken fajitas were sooooo filling. The deep-fried plantains were a great finish to an excellent meal!

There will always be a special place in our hearts for restaurants that are featured on tv. In this case, it was restaurant impossible. A show that I love to watch cause they came from the bottom and now there on top. I have never been to this place before I heard about it from the show. Let's start with the restaurant. It's looks really nice, it's appears a lot brighter on camera than it actually is. The staff was really nice although our waitress was not around during filming. I ordered all the menu items that were displayed on the show which was the flank steak and street corn. Kinda expensive for the corn running around $7 for 1 1/2 pieces. The steak was properly cooked, but was lacking wow factor. I threw a margherita into the mix and my meal came out to be $40 The food was good but a little over priced. A mark they are doing because of their new fame from the show. I would recommend people to check this place out cause the decor is nice and staff is nice. The food is decent, but you would have a good time.

We are from Switzerland and through our relative heard about the famous Hot Salad of Estrada's. We drove by but the restaurant wasn't open yet. The owner, Bernadette, saw us standing outside the restaurant, came out and invited us in. Not only did she show us the facilities, but she invited us for an out-of-this-world Margharita and nachos with various yummy dips!! Her hospitality made us feel so welcome! We have never experienced such a friendly welcome to a restaurant before! Of course, we came back in the evening and tried their famous Hot Salad. Very very very good!!! It was well worth it to come back twice the same day!!! Rosie from Zürich
