We've eaten in Estreia three times over a two-year span, and I am simultaneously delighted and dismayed by this restaurant. The food is undoubtedly delicious, fully deserving of five stars. Eveything we've tried from steak to duck is superb, and since we go in fairly large groups -- last visit with my wife and eleven grandchildren, thirteen persons in all -- we've tried many, if not most of the items on the menu. However, when one pays approximately $100 per person without wine, well-prepared food is simply not enough; one expects, I think, service commensurate with the cuisine. Here, Estreia simply does not measure up. Our last visit was early on a Sunday evening, where my family and I were the only guests in the place. Several servers were sitting in the hallway where the washing station and rest rooms are located, playing with their cell phones while we waited for bread to be brought to the table. As most Kosher consumers will know, it is required to wash one's hands and make a blessing over bread prior to a meal. There was no bread near the washing sink (unlike virtually every other Kosher restaurant anywhere in the world) and despite an assurance that bread would be brought immediately, that didn't happen for a total of 11 minutes, while I and others in our party sat in stunned silence. Other service flaws include delivering entrees at widely spaced intervals, not bringing some of the kids their French fries until the desserts of others was already on the table (and then charging for them even though they were sent back), not having coffee, and other issues. In short, excellent food, horrible service, and an overall unpleasant experience at a meal that set me back a thousand dollars!
