Et Cetera Shop, Hutchinson

I was planning on going dress shopping here. I was very excited as I have tried on a dress previously here, but I just didn’t love it. If you know me then you know I love to thrift and this is something I have been very excited about. I went in to go get some decorations and wanted to make sure the lady would be there at the time I was planning on going in the one that does the dresses. Now let me preface this with I KNOW I am a plus size bride and I also KNOW that not every place is going to cater to plus size people. I had already talked to a girl before and she thought we could find something. This is a thrift shop. They don’t have a set size range, plus my fiances grandma was going to help with alterations so if something didn’t fit perfectly but I loved it it was fine. The worker looks me up and down and says are you looking for a dress and then looks me up and down again and says the dresses are small in the most condescending way as if I didn’t know I was plus sized. This was very uncomfortable for me not because I am ashamed of my body but as I was already having anxiety about this and she said this in front of the whole store. I feel like this could have been handled much better and in a nicer way. I would never have gone here but the worker who has previously seen me had no concerns with my size. Next time if you have concerns tell Kay you’ll have here give me a call if you think they won’t have something that fits.

They carry good product with good prices but have zero respect for the customers who choose to support the business. The gal that helped us, I believe her name was Pat shouldn’t be helping anyone, anywhere; but especially not small business retail. I recommend anyplace but here when searching for your treasures!

Giving this less then 1 star My daughter went to look for wedding dress and was told by associate that they didn’t have have big dresses only small ones ! I’m not sure what type of person says this to a bride to be but your in the business of selling not to be judgmental and make a person feel bad about themselves! Obviously this employee is on the business of body shamming. Well shame on you!!!! You know who you are you should be ashamed of yourself ! Will be sure to NOT refer to this store in the future!!!! Management should look at who they employ there !

I had three of the ladies working there helping me find shoes.I felt so special with the Wonderful customer service. Love the store. We are blessed to have the Etc store! Thank you ladies for your help. Sonya and i forgot the the two names. It’s my elderly memory. i will definitely continue to shop there!

This place is great! It was my first time in today and the lovely ladies working are so sweet and welcoming. It is very neat, organized well, and they have a great selection. I will definitely be back.

This place is amazing! Great deals similar to Goodwill 5 Years ago. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Store is well organized and very clean. It's a regular stop for me now, definitely worth a visit!

UPDATE: I spoke with the manager and she was understanding and kind. She said she would talk to the employee. I have been back several times since my original review. I always find treasures. See update! Great prices and variety. Very rude and unkind staff. Pick up your shield and gird yourself with armor and helmet and SHOP!

Awesome awesome awesome. So nicely organized and great prices. If you craft, especially sew it's amazing. Love that 10000 Villages is in the same store. This is a store that reminds me of something I would see back in the northeast, just gave me New England vibes for some reason, I don't know.
