Where to Buy Crafty Chocolates in Montreal For Easter 2020

"Montreal’s bean-to-bar chocolate scene (chocolate made from scratch with raw cacao beans) has exploded within recent years, and État de Choc is a fine reflection of this. Its Little Italy store is closed to the public, but online orders are still available (although possibly not for long due to heavy volumes)." - Tim Forster

Premium chocolate. One of the best places to go to understand chocolate better and buy chocolate gifts for someone really special. They have really fine chocolates upwards over$100.

If you want artisanal chocolates, this is the place to go! There are so many amazing flavors to choose from, it makes you want to come back to try more each time. The harmonious flavor mixing are intriguing and are truly what makes this place special. You can find multiple kinds of chocolates that marry ingredients together, ingredients that you would never think of having in chocolate. Some of the ones I've tried and that I've enjoyed are: pistachio + maple and jasmine tea + coffee.

Amazing selection of artisan chocolates from all over! They make their own chocolates that have won many awards! We tried the citron milk chocolate and it had an amazing balance of sweet and tart. Very delicious! The artwork on their chocolate covered is also very pleasing to the eye!

Unique chocolate makers with excellent selection of theirs and others small producer’s chocolate. Great for presents!

Incredible selection of chocolate from around the world, and the chocolate made there was really, really good. Do a tasting! Staff - and owner! - were friendly and she was knowledgeable and willing to talk about chocolate and her store.

Ok. Mark my words. This is heaven on earth. Amazing amazing selection of chocolate, their house branding is incredibly beautiful, all the staff is ALWAYS helpful. If you want to step up your chocolate game, it IS the place to go. Plus, they are in a very cool neighborhood of restaurants, bars and little shops. Make it a destination! You won’t regret.

Enhanced experience for discovering chocolates from many horizons and heading to new destinations! In the words of my grade school age child: “It’s like a library for chocolate”. This hedonists’ boutique is yours to discover (since circa 2019 according to employee)

I visited the shop today to purchase some chocolate and I was served by a very patient employee who was able to answer all my questions and more. I went in there searching for a gift and she took the time to explain to me all the different options from all the different regions. As well as purchasing a gift I also opted to buy some chocolate for myself and I can say that it did not disappoint. Definitely recommend to any chocolate connoisseur and/or amateur!

Yelp
A few weeks ago, I did a walking food tour of Jean Talon Market and the surrounding area. Our tour ended at Etat de Choc, a chocolate store that sells their own chocolates and other companies' chocolates. They also offer tastings, which our tour group did (we got a taste of four 3-4 different chocolate bars and a pistachio butter). The service was great, the tasting was great, and the products they carry are wonderful. I left with several different chocolates to share with people back home! Such a fun store!

Yelp
Espresso is to coffee as the chocolates offered here is to mainstream chocolates like Nestle/Lindt. With that being said, this is a store for dark chocolate aficionados. Savor the richness and subtilities of chocolates coming from different regions of the world...Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Dominican Republic and more! My favorite in the selection that I bought was the Mini Chocolate Bar - Dulcey Pistachio. Because it's sweet and crunchy and suited my plebein tastes. I should've gone more with the milk chocolate options or their chocolate spreads than the dark chocolate flavors cause let's face it... I'm the "coffee drinker" with extra whipped cream and yes please for the sprinkles lol. My second favorite was the Dick Taylor raspberry vanilla dark chocolate. Here's my taste testing notes: - Dark Banana Hazelnut: I couldn't detect any banana but it is very crunchy with the chopped hazelnut throughout the bar - Dark Corn Chili: tastes of roasted crunchy corn - Dark Maple-Fir: tastes lightly of fir - Dark Chocolate Hop: tastes lightly of hops - Blond Pistachio: sweet and caramel flavored with crunchy pistachios - Raspberry Vanilla: dark with light hints of raspberry This is quality chocolate and the packaging is beautiful. The chocolates are made in small lots. They offer chocolate workshops which I was going to attend but due to covid19 didn't happen so I exchanged my workshop voucher for chocolates instead. Since these are premium chocolates, they're also pricey so make sure you choose well!

Yelp
Location: On the main bordering Little Italy. Street parking is available but metered. The closest subway is probably Beaubien and then it's a few minutes walk from there. To be clear: This initial review is NOT about the products (or the vast variety) that are sold here. My review serves to highlight the complete lack of customer service that is (not) offered here. I went to État de Choc earlier today and the store was empty, except for the clerk who was working. No greeting. No smile. No "Can I help you?" or "Are you looking for anything in particular?" Or "Can I provide you with any information about the 100 types of chocolate we sell here?" Considering the price range, I would expect, at the very least, a friendly greeting when I walk in and some guidance on the different varieties of chocolate that they offer. Thanks to the lousy service, I doubt I'll be returning, especially since I always receive exceptional service at Les Chocolats de Chloe and Lecavalier Petrone.

Yelp
Great chocolatier. Although I did not buy many products. The owner was very generous and made me try the Cacao juice, which tasted like lychee juice and was surprisingly very sweet. The ice bar was AMAZING. So many choices of chocolates, the owner is also very knowledgeable and knows well what she's selling. Great place.
