We have been visiting Longboat Key for nearly 15 years. We, my wife, I and the couple who own the timeshare where we stay, have a bunch of favorite restaurants on the island. So much so, we can't fit them all in during our week's stay.
So during this past visit we met up with another couple who now live permanently to the island. They wanted to go to their favorite restaurant, Euphemia Haye. Now this place is walking distance from the timeshare, but we've avoided it in the past due to its notoriously higher prices. But, when in Rome....
Well the prices were a bit higher, but not ridiculously so. And we checked. Their steaks were within 5-10% of the other restaurant on the island. But, it was well worth it. The Caesar salad my wife and I shared, was both, big enough to share, and probably the best Caesar salad I've ever had!
My roast duck was really superb, and my wife's filet mignon was super tender and flavorful. And the sides were right on point as well. Two of our table mates had the Peppered Steak, (which I think is their signature dish), and proclaimed it delicious.
We ordered both a red and white wine (which may be where the pricey reputation comes from) to accompany our meal, and the service was attentive and professional. Everyone really enjoyed their dinners.
All told, the check (pre-tip) came to just a smidge over $100 pp. Certainly not cheap, but I really believe the value was there, and I have no problem paying for value! So I guess we will have to stay a few extra nights next year, to get in all our favorite restaurants!
