We recently stayed at Euphoria Retreat in Mystras and while the property itself is beautiful, the overall experience was inconsistent.
As a Hilton Gold member, I expected at least a warm acknowledgment of status. When we arrived and I asked about the chance of an upgrade given our status, I was told there were no available rooms at all and that's not possible as it's subject to availability. After checking the website myself and pointing out lots of availability in multiple rooms, only then did reception "double-check" and suddenly find one. To make it up, were told a very strange story that it was meant for a single traveler that had just canceled. This left me feeling more uncomfortable than recognized.
The hiking activities were definitely a highlight - Nikos was excellent and very knowledgeable of the area. However, when asking for more details about the on-site hiking routes, reception had no clue about even the basic information printed on their own map. In general, we relied more on our own research to find great nearby activities like local chestnut festivals.
Breakfast was great, while dinner was extremely average. The waiters were friendly and fun, which helped balance things out. The parking staff were also extremely kind and and multiple times charged our car which was genuinely appreciated.
We tried a yoga class that was fairly disappointing. The instructor arrived late - which is totally fine, we are there to relax - however without a shoe box or guidance, everyone kept walking across the floor we would later lie down on with their outdoor shoes. She also never asked if anyone had any health concerns or injuries, which is a very basic expectation from a first-time yoga session in a wellness resort.
Additionally, the toilets in every area I used had a design flaw: the flushes caused water to spill onto the floor and even the toilet seat, with the lid closed. Not acceptable from a hygiene perspective in any hotel, let alone a 5-star wellness retreat.
The spa itself is stunning, a really magical space, but once again, the staff at the spa reception seemed very unwilling to guide us, as though we should already know how everything worked rather than offering welcoming and proactive help.
Overall, the facilities absolutely reflect a 5-star property, but the service often did not. Having stayed at multiple wellness resorts (e.g., Adler), we didn’t feel the same relaxing, seamless experience here that is typically promised in this category. We did enjoy the beautiful surroundings and relaxed thanks to the trips outside the hotel - but the hotel itself has some distance to go before it truly delivers the wellness atmosphere it advertises.
