"Euro Pane Start your morning at this local bakery (and then come back for lunch). They have a great wake-me-up environment, with lots of natural light from the floor-to-ceiling windows, and the aroma of coffee and fresh breads is heavenly. For lunch, try their Famous Egg Salad sandwich—the rosemary-currant bread is a perfect match for the delicious greens and eggs."

"Euro Pane, Pasadena. Euro Pane is a Pasadena institution. There are now two locations a few blocks apart- and both are full every morning with the same regulars. Euro Pane (pronounced differently by everyone you'll meet) was started by the baker Sumi Chang, who worked with Nancy Silverton at La Brea Bakery. If you go for breakfast, I recommend the english muffins, which they make in-house (along with pretty much everything else). They are thick and spongey and unlike any other english muffin. At lunch they serve a variety of sandwiches on different types of bread (from loaves all baked that morning). I recommend the chicken salad sandwich on cranberry walnut bread and one (or six) of their colorful macarons on the side. #notgonnanot"

Euro Pane Bakery Review - Pasadena - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Euro Pane is a good cafe and bakery right in the middle of the chain restaurants and department stores on Colorado. Don’t be scared off by the hordes of people that work in the area wearing suits - they’ve got great housemade bread and baked goods (get the cinnamon roll), and a massive open-faced egg salad sandwich with tomato, spread thin on sourdough." - Brett Keating

Iced americano w oat milk was perfect! Unfortunately everything else was not. We waited 30 minutes for their bacon wrap, cup of black bean soup and a tuna melt. Had to ask waitperson for an update since we saw others getting their food. She was kind, apologized and said chef was new so he’s slow. Yet, those that ordered after us received their food (much more food than our order) quickly within 5 minutes after sitting down. :/ $10 Bacon wrap was a fluffy but overcooked egg omelette, and pieces of bacon. $15 Combo of sandwich and soup: Black bean soup pureed smooth but not flavorful. Tuna melt on sourdough, dry Space was clean, casual vibe, sat outside in patio for cool breeze. Indoor dining was quiet but stuffy and warm. Best thing was the iced americano, hence the 3 stars.

Went biking and needed lunch. Decided to try this place out (heard a lot about it and had their macarons before). There is a bike rack that held about 4 bikes. The outdoor dining space looks nice (but it was too hot for today’s weather) but we ate inside the nice AC room. If you order more than $20, you get a free 12oz coffee. Ordered the chorizo burrito and Mediterranean chicken sandwich with tomato soup. The chorizo burrito was good but wished they had more than Chulula hot sauce. The chicken sandwich had great flavor and wasn’t dry at all! The orange wedge was a good extra. After eating, you leave the dishes in a bin near the door. It’s a nice environment and great for studying or working. Would come back!

Google
Staff friendly and nice. Location convenient and bakery clean and welcoming. Wish French bread was better. Had sandwich on Fr bread and found the crust to be hard & touch, difficult to bite into...not crispy crust with soft interior than I am use to. Bought a loaf of brioche and a couple of pastries to try Will update review once we have tasted them.

Cute place. Quiet. Warm in the window table area. Coffee is really flavorful. There are dairy and sweetener options, lots of yummy looking foods. A little pricey when you add the dairy alternatives. The staff is friendly and the decor is really beautiful.

I was in town for a convention looking for a quick breakfast and this place was pretty solid! Got a nice quiche lorraine w side salad and a strawberry lemonade. Love how close it is to the convention center and quick service too.

This place is absolutely fabulous - I would give it six stars if I could! They are obviously taking great care in the food they prepare - everything was delicious, from the pastries we tried to the breakfast sandwich. The place itself was spacious and full of light. Nice coffee too.

Google
Meh. My husband was super disappointed with his burrito which had powdered eggs (we think) and bacon only literally nothing else on it. Very boring. I had a decent Cobb salad, nothing to write home about but pretty good. Kind of expensive for powdered eggs though.

I was looking for a great coffee spot and remembered going here in the past. I ordered a hot latte with almond milk and it was on point. Perfect temperature and just the right amount of coffee flavor. I nice cup of Joe to start the day. I’d definitely come back here and try their other menu items including their food offerings. Parking is limited to street.

Yelp
I always loved europane and split my visits between the two Locations. When the original closed i lost track of the one across from Paseo - but that was a mistake. Still delicious sandwiches and food!!! Great ingredients well matched for great and healthy flavors!! Highly recommended!!

Yelp
Europane is a must-visit for a delicious breakfast and great coffee. Their Spanish latte is smooth, rich, and perfectly sweetened, pairing beautifully with their freshly baked pastries and hearty breakfast options. The laid-back atmosphere makes it a great spot to relax, and while it can get busy, the friendly service and quality food are well worth it. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this café is a fantastic choice for a satisfying start to your day!

Yelp
Europane has been here for so long and it's always cute and popular. I remember coming here for breakfast with family before starting my senior year. It was a sweet sendoff and a reminder of home before getting back to being busy.

Yelp
I haven't been here in years!! Everything looks the same, except I have noticed that their macarons became much smaller. I had asked and the lady said their pastry chef had retired. I was a bit bummed by that. I still got some to give as gift and I also ordered my usual here, which is the opened faced egg salad sandwich. My daughter and I used to share that and it used to be delicious!! They don't have that original bread slice with cranberries and walnut either. More disappointment. So I had went with the brioche bread as suggested. It wasn't the same. Only the ambiance and the service stayed the same. Everything else changed, so not really too sure about returning. I really did miss the way it used to be and I bet a lot of people were disappointed coming here to find out.

Yelp
First timer here... looking for a change from Starbucks. Tried the chai tea latte. At first sip it was unexpected taste as I'm used to how sweet it is at Starbucks compared to here. The nore I drank the more I liked it. Here they don't use the chai syrup. Instead, they use the little tea bags from Stash. Also had the bacon egg drop (it's just n egg sandwich) on sourdough bread. It was good.

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop. It's a little bit on the pricey side (I got the granola and greek yogurt combo and it came out to about $12, but it was a very generous portion of both). It does get pretty busy and the day I went, there was only one person working the register and making the food, so I do recommend some patience is in order (and luckily for me, everyone was very patient that morning!). There is street parking, but you can also park across the street inside Paseo Colorado. I like the ambiance of it and I look forward going back.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in because the Starbucks across the street was closed, and I am glad I did. They were understaffed and not prepared for the crowd, but the food and service were solid. Think extremely generic cafe food, and you'll likely find it here. Approachable, predictable, quality goods.

Yelp
We tried the danish and scone. They were both really good. I wonder if we were just super hungry but really good nonetheless. The don't offer coffee grinds for purchase but the lady sold me some that day anyway! That's good star service. It's cute and quaint. I'd highly recommend it to anyone that's in the area. The coffee to me it way better than Starbucks. Starbucks schmarbucks amirite?

Yelp
It's been a very long time since I've visited Europane, I remember their delicious open-faced egg salad sandwich and it was just as I remembered when we ordered it today.  Get it with the brioche toasted buns and your mouth will thank you! We also share an avocado toast on a sourdough bread. It literally had a spinach salad on top of it! Can it get any healthier?  It wasn't crowded at all when we came around Noonish on a Sunday.  But it was quite bright and sunny inside the restaurant and the shade does not pull down. So we opted to sit outside in the shade.  The waitress brought our food out a few minutes later and it was great with my cafe au lait.  Will definitely be back.

Yelp
I came across this cute bakery front cafe across from Paseo Pasadena and thought I would try it for a quick snack. It was 1:00PM and they had already sold out on many of their breakfast pastries including chocolate croissants that I was actually craving at the time. I opted to try their almond chicken lunch sandwich on sourdough. The sandwich was lightly toasted but unfortunately dry. There was hardly any pesto mayo to help save this sandwich. The chicken breast was also a bit dry and probably overcooked. The overall flavor was pretty underwhelming. The sandwich was even overpriced at $16 considering it didn't even come with any chips, pickles, or anything . . . nada. Sad. The food is a bit disappointing. Any visiting European tourists would have been appalled being named Europane. Maybe the pastries are better, but I wasn't able to try them. On the positive side, the staff were very friendly and nice.

Yelp
Not all lattes are created equal and what they provide at Europane is testament to that! Best descriptors are robust and bold high coffee, who woulda thunk? Egg sandwich ended up being a to-go since the eggs are nearly too bountiful, if that's even possible. The everything bagel with egg and bacon was delicious although super filling, eating only 1/2, which is most often enough for most adults (and hubby and I were really hungry). Next time we may just grab that delicious latte, well worth the trip. Staff were friendly and accommodating, minus the thanks for my order + generous tip!

Yelp
This place has the best Egg salad sandwich I've ever had. It's huge with enough eggs even for Gaston. The bread is toasty and sturdy enough to hold the massive weight above and yet light and delicate. If you like egg salad, look no further.

Colleen M.

Yelp
I had the Egg salad sandwich and it was amazing! The tomato spread was incredible and gave it so much flavor. My daughter had the turkey sandwich and it was so fresh! She said it was the best turkey sandwich she ever had. The staff was really nice and the place was very clean!

Yelp
You'd think there would be plenty of eateries around the Pasadena Convention Center, but there aren't. This place is just through the mall, and it is perfect. We went twice while at Monsterpalooza, since the Dena Hotel's restaurant is not equipped to handle even the smallest of crowds. The food here is fresh and hot. I had the bacon, egg, and cheese burrito, and the next day had the bacon, egg, and cheese croissant, with their fresh orange juice both times. Just what uou need here. Friendly servers, too. Highly recommended.

Yelp
On a Monday morning in late November, the place was already open before 7:30am. I was the only customer there at 7:20am. Easy menu to read. No chocolate croissants just plain croissants, muffins, twist, and bars. They also sell breakfast sandwiches and lunch sandwiches and coffee drinks. The cashier was nice and got my pastries and ice mocha fast. The twist was kinda dry and croissant was flaky and lots of holes inside. Also the drink was just right. 3 stars for no chocolate croissant. The interior looked nice and woodsy.

Yelp
The store is located off Colorado across from the Paseo mall. There is some street parking but I parked at City Hall and walked over. I tried the cappuccino, macaron and chocolate croissant. The chocolate croissant was delicious! It was nice and flaky with just the right amount of chocolate. They do not skimp lol. The macaron was well made also. Good texture to the cookie. Staff was nice. Ambience was nice. Very spacious.

Yelp
I love Europane! My mom loves Europane even more! We often go on Sundays for mother-daughter breakfasts. My mom loves the fluffy rich quiche and I enjoy the egg salad sandwich (actually it ties with my other favorite, the fresh moz veggie sandwich). Baby greens came with all, a welcome accompaniment. The coffees are wonderful. My mom goes for the house coffee while I opt for the cappuccino, which has extra caffeine kick. Ok, so that's on the food, which is a must in a restaurant review, and now, I want to talk about the utensils and the silverware which are unusually great and nice for a breakfast place -- substantial ceramic and weighty forks, knives, and spoons which state to me that Europane takes pride in its offerings by providing such a stately stage. As for the seating for this stage, you got it all: massive communal wooden table as well as individual high-top, low-top, and outdoor tables -- the experience has a moderne theatrical grandeur. A large window stretching the length of the restaurant dons a plethora of natural light while an overhang provides good shade for those opting to dine outdoors, where a water feature tranquilizes with trickling jingles. The staff is extremely friendly and the other patrons are of the familial genre as well. I think the prices are very reasonable! If you think so too, tip well!

Yelp
A nice easy spot for brunch in Pasadena still. Not as crowded and hyped up as some of the other spots within a few blocks. We had been fans of the egg salad sandwich from it's (now-closed) sister location. It's still good, here. The chorizo breakfast wrap was yummy, too. Filled nicely with a warm egg and chorizo mix, like a morning hug. They were doing a promotion for a free iced coffee with $20 purchase while we were here. Don't overlook Europane!

Yelp
Solid cafe option! Previous reviews were so divided, I was reluctant to try this place. But it's good! I think perhaps it has changed from before (I can't speak to this) but it's fine as it is today. This is a solid cafe option if you are looking for assorted espresso drinks, pastries, good brekki options, plus sandwiches and salads. Nothing here is stellar, but everything is good. I truly have no idea why so many reviewers are up in arms against this place. Here is the deal, if you want AMAZING top quality pastries, walk down the block to Frenchifornia, if you want blended coffee walk across the street to Starbucks. If you want a waffle plate, go to Great Maple. This place is GREAT for savory brekki options (frittata, quiche, bagel sandwich, etc), good lattes, and maybe something sweet if you are in the mood. My only complaint is I wish they were open in the evening. Vibes are great for studying and getting work done, compared to other cafes near by. (I don't love the tables at Cordova, and Urth is eternally packed to the gills) This place is casual and family friendly, nice outdoor area to let kids run around. But plenty of indoor cozy seating. Prices are standard for the area, might be a lot if you are from out of state, but prices are on par with Pasadena cafes. This is a solid go-to place if you live nearby and want something easy and satisfying for breakfast, if you are staying at a nearby hotel, or you are passing through for shopping etc. Street parking is easy, park along the post office, or across at the Paseo. Hope this clears some things up! Bon Provecho!

Yelp
Sadly, Europane is not what it used to be. The baked goods were disappointing. They are no longer a bakery and outsource their breads. I was looking forward to trying bread with my frittata and had no desire to finish the bread that came with my entree. We also had a breakfast bagel which was subpar. I don't know how to describe it, as I'm not a baker, you can just tell when it doesn't have the love in it, you know? The large "vanilla foam cold brew" was 3/4 ice and probably had 5 oz coffee. It tasted like pure cream. I don't really know what they were thinking. I think a more appropriate name would be "ice, with cream and some coffee". Sigh. Not coming back.

Yelp
Even though it's not the original pastry chef/owner here the quality of the product still lives on with wonderful baked goodies and breads. Offers sandwiches, salads, quiche and coffee as well. Modern interior and some outdoor patio dining. Super friendly manager.

Yelp
Hadn't been in years but was meeting a friend who offered this place as a possible spot for breakfast. Saw the reviews and hoped they hadn't gone downhill since last I went. However, they did go downhill. Had the almond croissant and a chorizo wrap. Didn't eat much of either. Very blah. My friend got food too and didn't think much of it. He did say the coffee is very good though....I don't drink coffee so probably won't be going back.

Yelp
Food is so so. The chicken in the sandwich is dry and tasteless. Iced drinks total rip off. $5.50 for a full cup of ice with little tea.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try out this place because I've heard good things about it but I guess the Yelp reviews were correct. It is a less than mediocre coffee spot/bakery. The seating area inside is cute! My coworker and I came around 1:30 pm and ordered a vanilla latte, 2 macaroons and an americano! we got our orders shortly after in a To-go cup even tho we wanted to have it inside the cafe. The lady taking our order never asked but just assumed. She made a comment saying "we close at 2." Yes, we know that and we would have left by then. So we had them change it to a regular cup so we can drink it there. The Americano had some stuff on top of the drink and we asked about it and they said oh it's just the grinds. I've never seen coffee grinds that looks like old coffee pieces. My coworker said it tasted like watered down coffee. My latte was gross. I hated it so much I asked if they would make me another drink. They have such weird stares as if. I Was speaking another language. Then they said sure what would you like so I opted for a caramel latte instead - half sweet. That was nasty and tasted artificially flavored. Needless to say we won't be back. The place gets two stars for the macaroons or else it would have been 1 star. Also, we were still having our dessert and enjoying when they started cleaning up the chairs and closing the curtains. It wasn't even 2 pm yet. Horrible. Don't waste your money here.

Yelp
Summary: Three stars because it's just a normal cafe to me now. I ordered what used to be their signature egg salad sandwich which turned out to be just OK. Did not try other menu items. I also don't think it's a bakery anymore (not sure). Staff are friendly, orders are processed quickly, place is clean, and ambience is mostly what I remember (just less of a crowd that made it lively). So I haven't been here after the ownership change from several years ago. Driving up to the shop at 10am on a Saturday, I thought it was closed because I saw nobody sitting outside or people going in and out. I noticed it was not packed and there were no lines for the checkout. The glass case where the all the baked goods used to be was distinctly different. A sign on the wall said they were no longer selling the baked goods that made them once popular and were transforming into a new style of bakery and cafe. I overheard new younger staff being trained instead of the usual bustle of orders being processed. Checked Yelp and saw all the recent one star reviews and the various warnings. But I was running on 4 hrs of sleep and no food so none of this triggered any red flags in my head until I received my egg salad sandwich that I ordered. Two cafeteria style scoops instead of a nice looking spread that I was expecting (go look at old photos of this sandwich). I know it's ridiculous, but details like this make a difference to me and the two scoops just made me realize there's nobody on the staff or in the kitchen from the old Europane days. The egg salad was OK but cold, bland, and very...normal. I brought it home and added Dijon mustard and kewpie mayo just to salvage it and recall some semblance of what Europane's egg salad sandwiches used to taste like. Europane under it's previous ownership garnered a lot of trust and good faith from the Pasadena community because of its consistent and quality goods and attention to detail. It's clear to me the new owners were hoping to ride on the previous owner's coattails as far as they could go but it sure looks (and tastes) like they've gone as far as they can. Good luck to the new owners and hope their transformation improves business. As another commenter posted, they should probably stop using the Europane name because they will always be compared to the popularity and quality of their predecessor.

Yelp
Needing an afternoon caffeine boost, we came by Europane before heading back to our hotel to leave town. I ordered an iced vanilla latte with oat milk; it was decent for the price, portion, and flavor. We had already eaten lunch so I cannot speak to the quality of their food but a colleague said that the food was very good. Consider this a placeholder review as all I tried was a latte.
google avatar

David K.

Yelp
Good, but not as great as before Covid closed it down. The egg salad sandwich was still hearty and the scones okay. But no wonderful pastries.
google avatar

Jacqi T.

Yelp
Not much to say about this place. It was the pleasant exterior that had attracted us. The food was subpar, especially for the price. These two small meals cost us $40 and it was simply disappointing. The half sandwich was boring, the pozole was cold and lacked authenticity. The only redeeming element was the frittata. It cut through easy and was indeed very tasty! I probably won't come again.
google avatar

Jonathan WC M.

Yelp
Sadly, time marches on. They changed ownership and the new team has no clue, like "not sure they worked in a restaurant crew." Plus all the delicious food that was truly awesome is all gone. Very bummed b/c was a go to spot for business coffee. Bummer.

Yelp
I haven't been to Europane in like 5 yrs? Jones cider used to carry their delicious blueberry danish but they now get their pastries from Cos&Pi in So Pas. I missed the danish so I decided to pay a trip to Europane early Sunday morning. I was maybe 3rd person in the store. They didn't have much option in pastries. Given so early in the morning, I asked the worker (only worker there?) if the pastries are from this morning, as they looked like leftover from the day before. I just got one croissant (almond w hazelnut filling?) to go and came home. Pastry tasted so dry and it probably was from at least 2-3 days ago. Pretty disappointed w the quality of the food, given it's $5.00+tip. Not going back here again. I hope they improve their food so they can make a comeback.
google avatar

Denis S.

Yelp
They no longer have a bakery due to the pandemic, so it's mostly coffee and sandwiches. I got the latter, which was pretty good and came out fairly quickly. It'll do as a lunch spot in a pinch, but not my first choice in this area.
google avatar

Laura L.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place! Been coming here since high school and the quality has never gone down (although prices have gone up). My favorites are definitely their veggie sandwich which is large enough for lunch and dinner, the macaroons which are massive, and basically all their other baked goods. For the veggie sandwich, it's a mix of many flavors that work so well together. The pesto, balsamic, roasted red pepper, salad, goat cheese. It's amazing! As for macarook flavors, my favorites are pistachio, earl grey, and sea salt caramel. For parking, there's one hour street parking right in front of the store (Colorado St.) or on Green St. They do have a parking lot above, but a while back, I had to pay for it and to my knowledge, I dont think Europane validates. To go to the bathroom, you have to exit the store and go into the garage to the back of the restaurant to access it.

Yelp
This is maybe one of the nicest little bakeries in Pasadena. It has a bit of European flair, with a long rustic table in the center, spacious interior, and a breezy patio with a chill vibe and plenty of foliage to give you a sense of privacy. It has a little bit of everything to please the palate, as well as some merch you can use for your coffee drinking on the go. Their menu offers about what you would expect from such a bakery, ranging from the healthy to the decadent, and their pastries are as delicious as one would hope. Their macarons, in particular, are some of the best I've had; perfectly chewy in the center, crackly on the outside, and slightly-bigger than most. The cookies are pretty darn amazing, too; my favorite being the crackly Chocolate Mocha. The case is always replete with fresh European-inspired treats, as well, like gorgeous croissants, hefty scones of different varieties, and even quiche. From their food menu, I tried their Croque Monsieur on their Rosemary Currant bread, and let me tell you, from the nasty smell of that cheese, they must have been using the good stuff. It's not the best I've had, but I think most people with a more refined palate might like it. I also took one of their Almond Chicken Sandwiches on Rosemary Currant bread for the road, and THAT was an enormous sandwich, and delicious to boot. The chicken is cooked in a unique way that packs on the flavor and all those veggies they're putting in there ensure you're getting the health value as well as the taste. The coffee portion of their menu looked pretty "meh" to me, so I can't speak to that, but given how good everything else is, you may want to try your luck. It's also not cheap to eat here, but given how large the portions are, you're definitely getting your money's worth.

Yelp
I visited Europane after seeing it on a list of best croissants in LA. They were out of the plain croissant so I ordered the chocolate croissant, a side of hash browns, and a cup of chicken noodle soup. The chicken noodle soup was flavorful but both the hash browns and croissant were disappointing. First - let's start with the hash browns. They were overly crispy and lacked flavor. Second - the chocolate croissant was not a croissant but rather resembled a roll or piece of bread, no flakey layers with very little chocolate filling. The atmosphere and staff were very nice but I was not impressed with the food.

Yelp
We went to get croissants this morning, expecting fresh, tasty baked goods. Instead we got stale, old crap. 4.50$ each, they were days old, and didn't sit right in your mouth. This place used to be bustling and had much better service and food quality. Vons could make better croissants. Come on, just make fresh croissants, it's not that hard.

Yelp
I am pretty shocked because I just CANNOT believe people cannot distinguish between MACARONS and MACAROONS. Gosh, stop calling MACARONS, MACAROONS!!!! I see youre talking about macarons like you know better than anyone and you call them MACAROONS, sorry but not sorry, I wont be reading your review, ugh. MACAROONS are ones with COCONUT flakes on it with what it looks like (at least to me) KISSES shape. PLEASE KNOW THE DIFFERENCE! Anyway, I used to eat macarons all the time but knowing they are very high in calories, I try not to eat them as much. One macaron is about or MORE than 100 kcal. That's just too much. Well, its kind of like Madeline. But I crave it sometimes. Didnt want to drive to LT to 'Lette so I decided to get some here. First of all, their macarons are definitely LARGER in size compared to other places I have gone. To be exact, all flavors differ in size. My Sea Salt Caramel (SSC) was the biggest then Pistachio and so on... Couldnt tell what exactly the filling was for SSC but it was pretty good. It was super buttery like literally. I could taste butter in it for sure. Pistachio had of course, nutty flavors and it wasnt too overwhelming. Other 2 berry flavors were good too. Raspberry was subtly sweet and had really pleasant flavor without too much of anything. My pick has to be SSC and Raspberry! I think I had enough daily calorie intake for the day eating these but no regrets! Will come again occasionally when I get cravings for MACARONS with only ONE O, people!!!

Yelp
Literally the most delicious breakfast food in town. I'm a huge fan of their classic, the Egg Salad sandwich! The pastries are delicious and are offered in great variety. A butter croissant never tasted this good! I always get their Strawberry Chicken salad as well, it's super healthy and delicious. I often call in advance and place a pickup order for the salads and sandwiches and then just buy a bunch of pastries when I get here. I believe they make the coffee when you come by for the pickup, not along with the rest of the order, so it's nice There's ample seating and usually you can get a parking spot right outside unless you're coming during a breakfast rush. It's a good idea to remember and pay for parking in the machine... this is the kind of location where one easily gets a parking ticket.

Yelp
Apparently they changed owners during the pandemic. It's very sad. Their pastries sandwiches and bread used to be delicious. They no longer have the amazing large flavorful macarons that I used to buy there. They only have some machine made ones that are tiny. The blueberry scone I bought was dry, salty and horrible!!! I doubt this place will survive. It was once special. Now it's just a below average café not worth the drive. I definitely would skip this cafe.

Yelp
Very bad customer service. They don't have many of the items that they have on the board and you would know only when you get to the rude cashier. Even after ordering they came back to us to tell us they don't have the sandwiches we ordered after waiting over 20 minutes. Horrible experience.

Yelp
Gorgeous space, disappointing food. The pastries at Europeans used to be among the best in the city. The croissants were crisp and flakey on the outside and perfection on the insides and their scones were dream worthy. Now, the pastry case looks like they purchase items from an outside bakery and Costco might actually be better. If you were a fan of the OG- know this is not even close. Would be good for a coffee- and a place to work for a bit, but I wouldn't recommend the pastries.

Yelp
They used to make the best croissant in the city. No more. New owners, apparently, and the pastries are just barely edible. Too bad. Didn't try the food.

Yelp
Used to be my absolute favorite but the owner sold and they no longer bake their bread which reduces quality of the sandwiches drastically. They'd better get a baker there stat if they want to remain competitive. Now it's just an ordinary cafe.

Yelp
Ahh Europane... I usually come here specifically for the Sea Salt Caramel Macarons. They are THE BEST! The texture of the cookies is perfectly crisp, then comes the soft chewiness of the cookies, then into the creaminess of the caramel cream. These cookies are a bit larger than most :). I like that the don't use caramel directly as it can get too sweet (like 'Lette). I have been here once, before 11 am, and they ran out of the SSC macaron because someone bought 3 dozen... Grrr This European bakery cafe has all the greats - pastries, sandwiches & coffees. I love the ambiance & the communal table in the center of the dining room. Famous Open faced Egg Salad Sandwich - super yum! The eggs are cooked perfectly and creamy and a bit messy to eat. Everything here tastes delicious & fresh, haven't had anything less than good. Customer service can range, sometimes good, sometimes not so good. Once, I had to wait a while for my lunch, I think they forgot about me & they dropped in a chocolate chip cookie for my wait. It did make up for it :). Parking can be a bit if a pain as there is only paid street parking, or park across the street at Paseo for a charge. Recommended!

Yelp
Got the lunch special. Half sandwich with a cup of soup or salad. Got the Mediterranean chicken with olive bread. Got the potato and leek soup. Sandwich was very tasty. I really like it. Soup - I drank two sips and i threw it away. It was disgusting. Doesnt taste like potatoes or leek. No flavor. Should. Havr asked if i can sample the soup. Next time I will just get sandwich only.

Yelp
Thank God for Yelp because without it, I wouldn't be able to find all these amazing places that usually only locals know about or just people hearing about it through word-of-mouth. I stopped by Sunday morning around 8AM and was kinda surprised to see it empty other than 2 tables and one to-go order. The outside alone looks welcoming and cozy with all the tables "European style" and the inside is very warm with the rustic atmosphere. The displays are gorgeous as well, so many beautiful pastries and savory treats layed out on the counter and behind the glass. Since it was my first time , I had a few questions and the cashier was nice enough to go through my questions and offer recommendations. In the end, I chose a Spanish tortilla, pumpkin macaroon, and chai latte. All that came to just under $19, a bit pricey but you get a ton of food and quality food at that. The tortilla is HUGE. The counter has a big ol' pie displayed but you don't realize how big of a slice you get until it is brought to your table, this is like a Claim Jumper 7 layer cake size slice! A dense, creamy, cheesy, starchy slice of eggs, cheese, potatoes, and deliciousness, hot and ready to be scooped into your mouth. Definitely very filling BUT the only downside was the saltiness. The salt grows as you eat it and I hope this was just a one time thing by the chef because I would love to order this again if it's not so salty next time. The chai latte was decent, nothing crazy but a bit light on the "chai" flavor. They use a chai tea bag and even as it seeped in my cup while I ate, the flavor plateaued. Last but not least - the pumpkin macaroon for all your basic needs. I saw the macaroon recommended by a ton of Yelpers, but when I asked the cashier's recommendation she actually said she's not a fan because they are too sweet. Personally, this macaroon was not overly sweet and I am one to not like "overly sweet" desserts and pastries. This macaroon was also HUGE - cue the photo of the macaroon in my palm! Usually you find mini macaroons for $1.50, this giant one was still under $2.00! incredible! And the quality was better than most places too - a nice crispy top and bottom that when bit into, hold its shape while dissolving in your mouth. The cream center was thick and not overpowering or overflowing, but so nice and tasty too. I am incredibly happy with this place and wish it was closer to home!

Yelp
This Europane is the sister location of the original Euro Pane Bakery & Cafe located about a mile away. Founder and baker Sumi Chang started the original location two decades ago and opened a sister location in 2010. The restaurant was even featured in Jonathan Gold's 99 Essential Restaurants in 2011 (https://www.laweekly.com/restaurants/euro-pane-bakery-99-essential-restaurants-2011-2172831). Chang sold both of her restaurants back in August 2017, but she passed down her recipes to employees. Recently I walked past by the cafe and saw a neon sign with the word "boba" (more specifically honey boba) displayed on it. That caught my attention and I decided to give this place a try. The menu has various sandwich options and their Egg Salad Sandwich is the signature item. Choice of bread include sourdough, multigrain, olive, rosemary currant, cranberry walnut, ciabatta, baguette, English muffin (extra $2.95), and croissant (extra $2.95.) In addition you can customize your tea drink and mix up to 3 different flavors for $3.15 (toppings like hoeny boba will cost extra $0.50.) I also noticed that they have "free WiFi before 3 PM" and "don't leave dirty dishes on the table" signs. *** Famous Egg Salad Sandwich (choice of bread [cranberry walnut], tomato pesto, mixed greens, chopped hard boiled eggs mixed in mayo and topped with lemon, salt, pepper, and chives - $10.50): It is actually an open face sandwich. It had a creamy texture from hollandaise-like sauce with well-seasoned and lightly salted cold egg. I liked toasty cranberry walnut bread and I could taste mild flavors from both walnut and cranberry. Not sure where they find that piece of orange, but it was sweet and not very sour (tasted more like tangerine than orange). *** I've never been to Europane before the original owner sold this business so I don't have a good before and after comparison, but overall my salad wasn't too shabby and it is a great place to grab a quick breakfast / lunch in Pasadena.

Yelp
So sad that this place has changed owners. Day old croissants. Tough and dry. Muffin tastes like it comes from the grocery store. :( :( :( Thank you to the previous owner and pastry chefs for creating delicious pastries all these years. You will be missed.
