Since the pandemic, Europane seems to have discontinued making some of the baked goods that made them a standout on the east side of Los Angeles. It is so disappointing. Although I have great sympathy for what restaurants have had to struggle with to just afloat, now that they are open, one would hope the first thing they would do is reestablish what made them such a standout bakery cafe in the first place.
They used to make what are traditionally called Morning Buns, one of only two places east of L.A. that made them. Lincoln was the only other place one could occasionally get a Morning Bun. But Lincoln, sadly, did not survive the pandemic. So now the only place one can get this delight is to travel to -- as ALWAYS -- the west side.
Europane still makes their famous egg salad, but somehow the breads they were famous for may not live up to their old standards.
I will continue to support Pasadena's two Europane locations just blocks apart from one another on Colorado. I love the place, and will continue to be loyal. I just hope the owners understand that now that they are back in business, their customers hope for the same loyalty in return and will bring back the baked goods that drew us in in the first place.
