This review is strictly for our wedding cake! 🎂 After doing a lot of research online, I stumbled across this place and it really spoke to me. Yelpers give it great reviews, my husband and I met in Europe, and we also wanted a cake that would taste good for a good price for our small wedding party (cake was $90). I called a few months ahead to talk about the wedding cake options and the person working there was super helpful. I soon made my reservation and paid for it ahead online. Another worker called the week of our wedding to confirm the details and the best ways to store and serve it before the dinner. We ended up getting their famous Swiss Black Forest cake topped with vanilla frosting. The detail in the frosting was so beautiful! We added a custom cake topper I got from Etsy. We had a small 14 person wedding with just our family (2 babies included) and it was perfect for our wedding dinner. We even had leftovers, which some family members enjoyed the next day. We were so happy with our choice with this cake. We look forward to visiting San Diego again soon and stopping by this bakery to have more of this delicious cake and remember our big day! I’ve ordered from here for our wedding and now for a first communion. I’ve also ordered for many other occasions over the years. The cakes are always top notch and, as a local, I’ve not yet found a bakery I trust more for special occasion cakes. This particular time most of our adult guests even came back for seconds!

I’ve been ordering from the best European bakery in San Diego for years—for weddings, parties, and anniversaries. I love the high-quality ingredients they use in their pastries; no wonder they taste amazing! Highly recommended you won’t be disappointed!

Beautiful and delicious 3 tier cake for our sons 1st birthday. We went with European cake gallery last minute and have no regrets. So many compliments on our cake. From presentation to taste. So glad we did! We had German chocolate on the top, Bavarian raspberry, and black Forrest on the biggest bottom tier. and his smash cake was the cutest. The smash cake was just a chocolate cake. Since he barely got into the cake, I tried it today-5 days later and oh my goodness- probably my favorite. I'm not a really a cake person but yum yum yum.

Our previous baker backed out last minute and I'm so thankful for Linda at European Cake Gallery who helped us out! Planning an event from a different state is a level of stress that is not enjoyable at all. Linda, was kind and receptive to what we were looking for. It's a risk when you haven't met the people making your cake or even tasting it prior but everyone who had a piece of the cake, loved it!!! I would definitely seek them out again in the future.

Ordered a cake and cupcakes 2 weeks ago and drove out this morning to pick it up, this place is top notch, the woman who helped me was so nice and helpful, thank you for not only amazing desserts but making my momma's birthday extra!! Everyone loved it and was a huge hit :) even worth the 2 hour drive to pick up.

I placed an order, went to pick it up after the pick up time, and had to wait 30+ min for it to be ready. The cupcakes were dry. I paid $240 for dry cupcakes.

My friend's engagement party had these cupcakes! I've always wanted to try this place but haven't gotten around to it. I ate both- their white Bavarian raspberry cupcake and the chocolate cupcake. The white Bavarian raspberry cupcake was good, the frosting and raspberry pieces were good. I do wish they included more fruit! The cupcake itself was vanilla and a bit dry, but if eaten with the frosting, delicious! As for the chocolate cupcake, it was nice and moist and the chocolate was rich and delicious. I would come back for that white Bavarian raspberry cupcake or even cake!

I stopped in for a last minute purchase and they had exactly what I needed, Bavarian Cream w/Raspberry cake. Service was great and the cake delicious.

European Cake Gallery was wonderful! We decided on a 3 tiered cake with two flavors for our wedding. They were fairly priced, professional, and absolutely delicious cake. Several people at the reception praised how good the white cake with cream and raspberry and chocolate truffle cake was! So good that I will have to be back soon for anniversaries and other occasions!

I've ordered multiple cakes from here over the years. Our go to is the Black Forest cake with the yummy chocolate shavings on the outside! Beautiful cake and it's layered with both chocolate and vanilla fluffy cream inside. Ordering tip: order it frozen and it will be the perfect temperate when serving 4-5 hrs later. One thing to note is you cannot leave this cake out for too long so clear your fridge ahead of time! I ordered online this time and I definitely was nervous whether I did everything right.... But since I got an email confirmation. I felt ok, and just went during my intended pick up and there she was a beautiful cake and 6 cupcakes ready for me! We love how the cake is not overly sweet and very moist and light! Cupcakes were a little dry, so maybe stick to the whole cakes or even the cake slices they offer. Parking was so easy! Right in front there was open 30 min parking. Super easy. Over all good experience and our go-to cake spot! Hope you enjoy!

I came in for a last minute cake and they had a delicious Bavarian Cream with Raspberry cake available. The service was great and the cake was delicious.

Every year, I have a tradition on my birthday to buy an entire cake and eat it throughout the day (that's how much I love cake) and being that this place is highly reviewed with A LOT of five star reviews, I decided to give it a shot. I purchased the white Bavarian raspberry cake and was extremely disappointed. Since everyone has different tastebuds, the best way to know is to just try for yourself and I thought the cake was okay at best. Service was fine, but I was only there to pick it up as I ordered over the phone. Small cake shop in Point Loma, parking was on the street. Would not come back to try other cakes.

Whoa! So good. We had these at a party we recently went to and had the chocolate cupcake and the Bavarian raspberry one. Jeez...it was enlightening. I'm a huge fan and approve! Will be back.

It's been 18! years since I visited for my original cake tasting, and my waist is thankful but we are gonna be in trouble now that I have jogged my taste-memory, lol! The german chocolate and white raspberry are just as good as I remember and are a testament to why I chose these cakes over the half-dozen other cake makers I tried back then. No waxy fondant. Just luxurious decadent chocolate, and buttercream. Will definitely order again for my next wedding, lol!

Excellent cake! My husband and I got different cake slices. I loved the White Bavarian Raspberry and my husband loved the Carrot Cake.

Cakes are definitely frozen in the process. Maybe it's their standard process but a previously frozen cake has a particular taste. Nor a good one. Picked one up for a birthday and the frosting (white chocolate) was falling off the cake. Definitely not worth what I paid.

August 10th my husband and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary. My daughter in-law recommended I call and order our cake there. From beginning the order to the end the service was magnificent. When I picked up this beautiful masterpiece I was beyond impressed. It was absolutely beautiful. Everyone at our party loved the cake and appreciated the beauty and simplicity of it. Services was sub par. For a place to advertise as "European" Cake Gallery and not even carry Princess Cake is a completely ridiculous. Princess Cake is about as European is it gets.

First time trying the Black Forest cake and WOW! The most delicious cake Ive ever had! I am so happy my relative brought the cake to our family party last night. I live in Murrieta but visit San Diego monthly to visit my parents and I already plan on stopping by European Cake Gallery on my next trip.

Yes yes and yes! My family and I love to get the Black Forest and White Bavarian cakes for Birthday's. This is the place to go, we can always rely on European Cake Gallery for the best cakes. The customer service is great too, very helpful. Don't leave without a cake!

I ordered a carrot cake online for my friend's birthday. I found parking in front of the store and wondered if I should have curbside delivery or come it. I saw a free brownie offer if I come in. So I went into the shop. My cake was ready and just needed it boxed. It was delicious and loved by all. I thought it odd to pay an extra $3.00 to have them write HBD Sandi. They did it on chocolate bars but it would of been fine on the cake. I still give 5 stars since the chocolate was delicious and the service super friendly.

We always order the black forest cake here for every birthday party and event. Without fail, the moisture of the cake and sweetness is perfectly balanced. It's the best you can get in San Diego! Also love the atmosphere inside the shop- feels very homey.

You can't go wrong with this place! I just recently learned that they have a sampler and you get 5 different slices for $25. On their website - go to collections/cakes/products/cake-sample-box to order and set a pickup time.

I'd give 10 stars if I could. European Cake Gallery has been making our family cakes for years. I highly recommend the pull apart bread and white Bavarian Raspberry cake. Can't go wrong

This family owned cake shop has been around since 1975. They know what they are doing when it comes to cakes. I order their cakes for every special occasion in my life. Every favor I've had has been absolutely delicious! But my favorite is definitely the white Bavarian. The cakes are moist, perfectly balanced in sweetness, and beautifully presented with attention to detail. The prices are also totally reasonable in my opinion. Beyond the extraordinary taste, what sets this cake shop apart is the warm, inviting atmosphere that embraces you from the moment you enter. It's clear that this is a family-owned establishment, as their passion and dedication shine through in every aspect of their service. The staff members greet you with genuine smiles and are more than happy to assist you in choosing the perfect cake for any occasion!

Amazing cakes! It was always a pleasure to see Linda again. Since it was not busy, I had a chance to have a pleasant chat with her. I shared with her that I've been coming here for over 30 years, before I had children. And, that I recommended their cake to all my friends and relatives. I still continue to come here for special occasions; they have the best cakes and pastries in town. I came in last minute for a cake and the staff was so incredibly helpful and flexible to make it happen. I went next door for a quick coffee and get some work done and my cake was ready in about 20 minutes! Everyone at the party loved the cake and I was sure to tell them where it came from. I don't live in the area but I highly recommend this place and will be a repeat customer of nearby

The BEST black forest cake, hands down. I can eat an entire 8 inch of this in one sitting. White Bavarian is to die for as well. You can use venmo as a form of payment.

Tasted a cake from here 4 years ago and was back in San Diego today and people we were staying with liked chocolate cake so we remembered and drove here (got lucky parking was good) and they have cakes already made and a bit frozen and needed to let it sit out a few hours. Cost was a shock but the cake was amazing. Yummy!!!. They also had small slices of cakes so we also tried a piece of the German chocolate. Again Yummy!

I love that you can order some cakes even less than 24 hrs in advance. Plus, my friends love their cakes!!!

After looking for a wedding cake in SD, we were so happy to discover the European Cake Gallery! We stopped by to pick up the sample box and absolutely loved each slice. We chose two flavors for our wedding cake and a week later I went back to order another chocolate cake for my husband's birthday. It was such a pleasure working with Linda. We discussed all the details and the delivery and the cake turned out to be perfect! Everybody loved the cake We definitely will be ordering our future cakes from them again!

Made my cake in 15 mins when i came in for a quick birthday cake for my coworker! Very nice and the inside is clean and everything on display looks delicious.

Really like the Bavarian cream cakes and black forest. Not too sweet and just so tasty. Was thinking of buying a cake for my sister's birthday but decided to just go with the cupcakes since the cake was probably overkill for a small celebration. Glad they had that option, as well as buying slices of cake if you want. Although the slices are just wrapped in plastic and is not the most pleasing look, the taste is still great! They definitely do the tier cakes for wedding and the sort and boy are they just to beautiful. Limited in terms of flavor but that's how you know it's quality taste. Paid in cash. I don't think they accept cc. But accept venmo as well.

They have the best cakes ! I would 100% recommend to everyone. They are very nice and welcoming. It's a small shop but they are very friendly and are very helpful. Always willing to help.

I love everything about this bakery! Their cakes are delicious, the cakes are beautiful, the staff are friendly, and they are reliable. Ok maybe a little pricey, but absolutely worth it. I stop by whenever I'm in the area to get 2 slices of Swiss black forest cake. Why? Well, my 40th wedding anniversary is coming up, and this is where we got our cake. When we cake tested it was a no-brainer. (And we got a white Bavarian for those who didn't want chocolate.) So on our anniversary we have Swiss black forest, and whenever else because it's just that good! I brought a cake to the bay area for my cousin who, decades after our wedding, can't stop talking about it. Cake box was recognizable to a good portion of those waiting for the flight - and they wanted some.

Having recently moved into the area, I was excited to try the local cake shop. I wanted to try some new for my husband's birthday, and had heard good things about this place. Well, I ordered his favorite...carrot cake, decorated with his name (see attached photo). I called in the order by phone. They let me know that they do not take credit cards, which is really kind of a pain, but they did allow me to bring a check, and they had let me know ahead of time. Anyway, it was ready in the morning when I stopped by to pick it up. When I went in, there was really nothing in the store. I had been hoping to smell wonderful smells, and maybe buy a breakfast pastry....but nothing was there. There was a sign that said something about being open during some renovations, so that is probably why. Anyway, someone came from the back and he promptly gathered my order and rang me up, with instructions for serving the cake. The cake itself could have been more beautiful, as it was quite plain. It said exactly what I had asked, but could have been more nicely written. The taste was also good, but I just don't think there was anything memorable or exceptional about it. On the other hand, it was rather reasonably priced, especially compared to other bakeries that I often order from. All in all, I did not go wrong, but I prefer cakes that are a bit more unique in style.

The wife and I had our wedding cake from here three years ago. It was amazing. A quick stroll back to memory lane and a visit to the shop this week and we came away with some cupcakes that were amazing. Just as I'm ready to leave I see the Cinnamon Pull apart (tear away) cutaway whatever you want to do with it- doesn't matter - it is amazing too. Fancy cake- check. Cupcakes- check. Bread - check. It is all amazing.

I was craving a carrot cake/cupcake the other day so I came in here and got 1 carrot cake cupcake and 1 white chocolate raspberry cupcake. I was a little disappointed to see that the goods were frozen and not really fresh. I liked the icing of the carrot cake cupcake but the cake part for me was just okay. I actually liked the whites chocolate raspberry cupcake better but I ate it the next day and since it defrosted it tasted a little watered down. Not sure if I would come here again. I wasn't really "wowed". The selection looked a little lacking maybe it was the time I came but then again most things are frozen anyways. I love going to bakeries and wanting everything. When I came in here I was struggling to find something that looked good.

We are so happy with the way our semi-naked wedding cake turned out! It was beautiful and tasted delicious! We had a rustic/boho themed wedding so this was the icing on the cake (no pun intended)! The only small complaint was that we were never initially told we needed to pick up the cake in a van or SUV (with so much wedding stress this wasn't something I assumed we would need to do) so please make a note of that if you plan on picking up the cake yourself, I think it would be helpful to just let the client know ahead of time (maybe write it on the invoice?) just so everyone is aware :) Luckily, Linda was able to get a delivery driver for us to deliver the cake last minute - we really appreciated that! We loved our cake!

The BEST gingerbread house I have ever had! A family friend gives this to us every December and it is literally the highlight of our December. It is soft and delicious. I would eat this all year long. Highly recommend!!!

If you want the freshest, prettiest presentation, best tasting pastries, you must experience the European Cake Gallery. Truly iconic in Point Loma, but serving all of San Diego. The staff is super customer oriented - friendly and so knowledgeable. Most recently they provided my wedding cake and it was so beautiful and our guests couldn't stop commenting on it - I encourage you to try them ..... you will love them!
