"European Delights sells a number of, well, European delights, such as apple strudels, cannoli, and coffee cake. The brioche is what to try here, which includes both savory and sweet options. If you’re looking for a small-but-mighty showstopper dessert, get the pavlova tart topped with berries." - Dianne de Guzman, Eater Staff

European Delight Cafe is a fantastic spot, conveniently located in a plaza with plenty of free parking and a Tesla supercharger. Their coffee is delicious, with great dairy-free milk options, and they offer a wide variety of freshly baked pastries. I tried the gluten-free mango muffin and almond cookies—both were fresh and absolutely delicious! The cafe has both indoor and outdoor seating, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a treat. Highly recommend!

It’s a relative with decent bakery. Always was on my bucket list to go to. Finally made it and slightly disappointed with the bakery selection and coffee, coffee strength and quality. Very clean and comfortable environment. Everything looked very neat inside. The owner takes pride in his place! Nice wall arts and greenery inside of the shop. Some dishes might be delicious. However, I picked the cinnamon swirl and it turned out to be a little bit sugary. My wife’s gone on the other hand was relatively tasty. The coffee was really watery and didn’t taste well. Had to go next-door to correct it. Overall is a very nice place with the great, Romanian hospitality.

This is a charming little bakery owned by a very sweet, hardworking couple. It's been a while since my last visit and I'm glad to see it growing. Today I had a delicious chai latte with a ham, bacon and cheese croissant and the pavlova to top it all off. It was my first time having pavlova and it was everything I dreamed it would be. Everything was homemade and utterly delicious. The environment is very homey with Frank Sinatra and other oldies playing instead of the usual Top 40s tracks like every other business out there is playing. I wish I took pictures of everything, but I got caught up having a lovely conversation with a random stranger there while I ate. I highly recommend this fine establishment to anyone looking for delicious, homemade pastries. And who knows, maybe you'll make a new friend!

Google
This wonderful pastry restaurant European Delights, which is truly a gem opened two years ago. I’m part of a group of twelve friends who go every Tuesday to taste the variety of pastries that are offered, which are impressive and mouthwatering. Each one, we have tried has been more delicious than the last - from the flaky croissants to the decadent cakes and everything in between. Rica’s attention to detail and dedication to using high-quality ingredients shines through in every bite. She has a true talent for creating sweet masterpieces that not only taste amazing but are also a feast for the eyes. Rica, congratulations on creating such a wonderful haven for pastry lovers like us. You've created a truly special atmosphere here. The service, the pastries, and the ambiance all come together to make a perfect experience. Well done!

Google
Nice family owned bakery with many choices for a morning pastry.🥐 you can tell by the amount of constant customer flow that it’s a local favorite! The owners were very nice and concerned that everyone was happy with what they ordered. I’d definitely go back.

I visited this place for the first time today and was really impressed. The quality of the pastures is up there with the very best I have ever had. I especially loved the Nutella pastry. Absolutely perfect. I will be back to try other things!

We have our own locally owned European bakery shop right here in Walnut Creek near Kirker Pass to Clayton. Citrus / Oak Grove is the intersection. I love that they serve Lavazza coffee, real European coffee, and that the pastries are not too sweet, just like in a real bakery in my hometown where I grew up. My favorite pastries are the poppy seed filled ones (mákos we called it where I grew up in Hungary), and they have poppy seed filled pastries available for sale on most days here.

Yelp
On Tuesday, November 19th, our vibrant group, the Pastry Gang, gathered at European Delights, Rica's enchanting pastry shop, on 2236 Oak Grove Rd. Walnut Creek, to celebrate a momentous occasion. Rica's brother, Petcu Dan, had just been sworn in as a U.S. citizen, and we were thrilled to mark this milestone together. As we indulged in the delectable pastries and delicatessens that have become a staple of our get-togethers, we were reminded of the profound impact immigration has had on shaping our country. Immigration is, without a doubt, one of the backbones that has made the United States the incredible nation it is today ¹. The diverse perspectives, skills, and experiences that immigrants bring have been instrumental in driving economic growth, innovation, and cultural enrichment. As we celebrated Petcu Dan's new citizenship, we were also honoring the countless contributions that immigrants have made, and continue to make, to the fabric of our society.

Yelp
I've long wished for a quality bakery a reasonable distance from our neighborhood. With the discovery of European Delights in the Citrus Shopping Center of Walnut Creek my wish has been granted! Owned by a Romanian brother and sister, all their baked goods are made from scratch in the old European manner. The resulting items are like an All-Star team featuring the best from different European countries: croissants from France, strudel from Germany, cannolis from Sicily, etc. We've tried these so far and have never been disappointed: Almond and Guava Croissants, Cinnamon Roll, Apple Strudel. I especially love their butter croissant, so buttery and flaky it almost melts in your mouth. They have a small sitting area perfect for relaxing with fresh baked goodies and their delicious coffee. Delivery is also available via Uber Eats. This place is a hidden gem, I'm so glad we discovered it!

Yesenia V.

Yelp
The pastries are tasty, fresh and exactly what they appear to taste like. My daughter and I tried the blueberry muffins and we were not disappointed. The lady who owns the pastry shop has a lovely European accent, and was nice.

Sandra M.

Yelp
THE COFFEE LEAVES ME WANTING MORE!! So delicious! No syrup or sugar needed. The pastry were wonderfully tasting. Vanilla cream and mango cream taste out of this world. Can't wait to go back!!! Day after specials are amazing. I'm hooked!!! Will be ordering cake from here soon!!! Had Napolean, Ham and Cheese croissant and plain croissant. Yummy! Oh and service!! Everyone so nice and friendly!!! Patient. Was a little busy, prices decent and worth every penny. Can't wait to visit again!

Crystal G.

Yelp
Amazing service and cute ambiance! The owners are so sweet and you can really tell they love what they do! The pastries are delicious and not overly sweet! I definitely recommend the blueberry scone and pistachio croissant. The scone was buttery and had fresh blueberries and the croissant was very flakey!

Yelp
Amazing amazing amazing!!! Not sure why it took me forever to try this place. Their pastries are all delicious looking and I love that they have both savory and sweet items. On the savory side we tried the spinach and feta and the ham and sun dried tomatoes and both were amazing! Make sure to get it warmed up. On the sweet side we got the magnifico which is guava and cream cheese. As a Porto's lover, I will say their danish rivals Porto's. It's as good if not better. Can't wait to come back and try more! Friendly service, kind older European grandmas - you know it's made with love and old school recipes!

Everett L.

Yelp
European Delights in Walnut Creek is a hidden gem for pastry lovers! Their croissants are absolutely divine, especially the chocolate and guava cheese varieties. The chocolate croissant is rich and flaky, with just the right amount of sweetness. But the guava cheese croissant? It's a unique treat, combining the tangy sweetness of guava with the creaminess of cheese, all wrapped in a perfectly buttery pastry. The bakery itself is cozy, and the service is always warm and friendly. If you're in the area, this place is a must-visit for a delicious pastry fix!

Yelp
I read about this bakery in various FB pages and in the newspaper, and decided to check it out. I stopped by on the way home from the local farmers market. There were a lot of choices in the display and on the racks behind the counter. I brought home the Nutella pastry and my husbands favorite, an almond croissant. Both were delicious. My husband said his was smaller than he usually gets from another place, but the flavor was even better. We will be back to try more of the goodies. I'm glad to have read about this place, as the shopping center is not a busy one, with lots of vacancies. I hope that changes soon.

Phil N.

Yelp
Solid bakery serving european style pastries and coffee. It's small and unassuming, next to Bevmo in the old Raleys Shopping Center. There's a couple of tables inside and a couple outside. So, wasn't much seating on the rainy day that i went. The baked goods ranged from A+ to B+ We split four. The Blueberry cheese danish and the blueberry muffin with favored as they were still warm. Almond croissant was huge and a B Big enough to share. Cinnamon roll was not as fresh and it's not a european thing so the passion not quite there.

Suzanne B.

Yelp
I absolutely love their coffee! And they have a wide variety of European pastries including a couple of GF items, like pavlova, a GF muffin, and meringues.

James L.

Yelp
Came here a few times and it is meh. I want to love this place because it is a mom and pop shop, but the items I have tried were a bit dry. The portion size small and kinda pricey in my opinion be other bakeries. Nothing really stood out to me and nothing really made a lasting impression on me. Maybe I'll try them again if in the area.

Jon S.

Yelp
Stumbled across this gem on Yelp and dropped in on a Sunday morning to give it a shot. It's a nice little mom and pops shop. Received the warmest welcome from the owner, who walked me through all the different selections. The strudels were absolutely amazing. Nice and flaky but not overly sweet. The Napoleon was light and delicious. Like the adorable owner said, everything is delicious and not overly sweet. I told her that she'll be seeing me again and she confidently said "I know I will!"

Jeffrey S.

Yelp
Huge menu, but it only looks like they actually make about 1/3 of the items on their menu (or they ran out in the first couple hours on Saturday). The pretzel croissant was very pretzel-flavored but it was a little dry and plain otherwise. The lemon muffin was very lemony and nice. The pistachio croissant had a lot of pistachio which was nice.

Gary P.

Yelp
This family owned bakery serves up delicious baked goods. They have an excellent array of tempting treats. The owner and her brother are very nice people too!

Barbara J.

Yelp
My mom has been telling me about this place and the guava croissants! Finally got one for Christmas Eve! So delicious and a delightful place for cappuccino! God Jul!

Athena C.

Yelp
It was a true delight to find this bakery in Walnut Creek. I love pastries and it is hard to have good ones that are European flavors. Most places here are either French or Asian and it is refreshing to have a different style bakery here that is more Eastern European. I really love the apple strudel and the croissants. They are light, buttery and full of fillings! The bakers are also very friendly and nice. Would definitely come back!

Gee P.

Yelp
The croissants here are GINORMOUS!!! Ridiculously ginormous. So airy, flaky, and DELICIOUS!!! We got the ham and cheese, plain, and chocolate croissants. All three were 5 stars!!! The coffee is strong. The baked goods smells heavenly. This place is a neighborhood GEM! Little small shop in a nondescript strip mall, close to the post office. Come get come fresh baked comforts of goodness and joy!

Kathy C.

Yelp
Pastries and cakes and coffee, oh my!!!! Walnut Creek's best kept secret! I love a good cheesecake, and they just blew my mind and tastebuds with this delicious slice of heaven. It has that slightly sweet tangy icing that takes it over the edge. The lovely young ladies at the counter were courteous and full of smiles. I asked for a pastry recommendation for my hubby since it was his birthday, and they suggested the tiramus. They were right on with that one! The store is clean and inviting. They have some unique pairings that are available sometimes, such as Mango Nutella. It's definitely the place to stop in for a snack, morning pastries, or special occasion. They have a variety of coffee drinks as well! Can't wait to try more goodies!

Cat N.

Yelp
https://youtu.be/z72JvosoUao I have been wanting to try the European delights Bakery for a while. I had heard good things about it. I was super stocked when I walked in and was greeted with a happy "Welcome"! They have an extensive range of baked items. I was really impressed. All the pastries were so pretty! The issue was that the coffee was so weak and plain awful! It should have been great as it is Lavazza but no it was terrible. The pastries were ok. We got the vanilla custard croissant. The custard was really yummy but the pastry was very heavy. We got the chocolate cheesecake muffin. It was good. We got the cheese roll and it was awful. There was like a lump of cheese in it that wasn't good. My dog liked it but we did not. Overall I would give it a C grade. Check out my YouTube video about the experience. I like to support local owned businesses so please give it a try. The staff was very sweet and kind. Maybe the pastries were having a bad day and for sure the coffee maker must have been on the fritz. I asked the two people if they had ever had complaints about the coffee and both said, "I don't drink coffee". Well, whether or not you drink it has nothing to do with whether people have complained about the coffee! Oh well. Let me know your experience and watch my YouTube video!

Yelp
Lovely coffee pastry place! Friendly service and great music! Italy's favorite coffee - Lavazza! I had the pistachio pastry(not too sweet for my taste, just right) and cappuccino(smooth and pleasant). Nice little place to have a bite, coffee and read a book. Could have stayed for the whole day just listening to the music(Andrea Bocelli) too! :-) If music be the food of love, play on! - Shakespeare

Sujitra C.

Yelp
Was craving for good croissants and found this on yelp and decided to give it a try. The croissants were delicious, fluffy, flaky, and buttery. Made hot chocolate to go with it and it was divine. The lady serving me was so nice. Would recommend this place.

Rebecca D.

Yelp
My family and I stopped by for pastries and coffees to go on a Saturday afternoon. The cafe is small with a few tables and a big selection of pastries. Service was friendly and efficient. All of us enjoyed our pastries very much and my americano was good, although we weren't big fans of the cappuccinos. I loved my blueberry brioche - flaky pastry with custard and blueberries. Perfect balance of sweet custard and tangy blueberries. Prices are fair for the size and quality. Very happy with our visit!

Irene M.

Yelp
Delightful bakery with the best chai latte! We were in the area and wanted a good croissant and coffee as it was a cold and rainy Saturday morning. The sweet ladies at the bakery prepare all the baked goods from scratch. Delicious ham and cheese croissants, muffins and spinach and feta felt light and airy with fresh ingredients. The highlight of my day was the most delicious chai latte made by the sweet girl.

Susan L.

Yelp
Croissant central! Pastries are made in house. You can see them being made behind the counter. Yesterday morning she was rolling chocolate croissants. $3.75 for muffins.and about $6 for croissants and croissant-dough items. Space is cute and super clean. Hand sanitizer is on every table.

Jake L.

Yelp
This bakery can turn into a problem, their Spinach and Feta croissant is something I have to get every week or so, one of the best pastries I've ever had. Nice and friendly family who runs it as well, must try if in the area.

Sarretta M.

Yelp
Very European bakery! Delicious and not just sweet stuff. Here in the states, we tend to think of bakeries for cakes and cookies and such. In Europe, you can have a whole meal at a bakery. I came in looking for a snack after seeing rave reviews on yelp. They had trays and trays of beautiful, pastries and art pieces of food. The owner/operator spoke with me and I told her I was looking for something savory. So she pointed out her ham and cheese, spinach, and three cheese brioches . The spinach sounded lovely, so I ordered that with some iced tea which they brewed and put over ice for me. I also decided to take a couple of sweet treats for my son, and I to have as dessert. I got a carrot muffin and an almond croissant. The spinach brioche was made from a Greek recipe, according to the owner. It was delicious; savory and rich, and flaky altogether. I had a bite of the almond croissant, and it was sweet and flaky as well. I'm saving the rest for later! This is a small bakery/diner that also serves various kinds of coffee. It is very European - I think the owners are European. And they made me feel welcome and help me decide on my choices and everything tasted wonderful. It is not cheap, but it is worth the price!

Paula R.

Yelp
The items I bought were each incredibly good. The cannoli is crisp and stuffed with a delicious, not-too-sweet cream. The wafer cake is made with high quality dark chocolate. The almond honey was tied for the most deliciousness with the apple strudel. BTW the place is super clean and provides a nice place to sit with friends.

Kathy G.

Yelp
Glad this isn't in a super convenient location for me as they're a very good bakery. Got the spinach and feta puff pastry pocket (don't know correct name). I warmed it up the next day, and even doing that this was utterly delicious. Warming up puff pastry does hurt the flaky layers, but still it was tender and the perfect balance of flavors. Chocolate cream cheese muffin from day old shelf, I had the next day and it was a tad dry, but heck then it was 2 days old!! So can't fault the baker. The chocolate flavor was perfect and generous cream cheese amount: quite decadent. They use good cocoa in their baking. Want to try the mushroom one next time. Chocolate croissant- excellent flavor. Outside looks perfect, but lamination on the interior while better than most area bakeries, but not as good as French bakery in Lafayette, which is the area's gold stand in my opinion. But - maybe it was an off day - it's a temperamental pastry and weather is changing. The square puff pastry with the filled chocolate center. The icing or whatever they put on top of the pastry was too hard for my tastes and took away from potential flakiness, if any. Ate more like a harder pie crust. This opinion was shared by a friend to whom I gave one of these, along with half of the croissant. The center chocolate part was very rich and sort of reminded me of the flavor of a tootsie roll - in a good way. I might try it again. Will return and branch out and try something else next time. Note: the gentleman that waited on me wasn't very nice, but perhaps just his nature and I actually don't require "nice". He may have thought I was beneath his notice. My voice is different due to a cleft palate and now as I've aged, I'm missing a front tooth and unrelated to that, I walk with a cane. Maybe he thought I was a vagrant?

Christine M.

Yelp
The owner was such a sweet man. Popped in for napoleon 20 mins before closing and he had the funniest personality and jokes. The desserts and pastries were so fresh, even at the end of the day.

Tibor A.

Yelp
The very best in Walnut Creek Unbeatable tastes and great designs Tasty and delicious Friendly service by the owners and stuff

Henry D.

Yelp
I decided to drop by European Specialty Bakery after a long walk on the Heather Farms trail. I decided to get a variety of pastries to try. I chose a berry and cheese pastry, carrot cupcake, blueberry cupcake, a mango and pistachio pastry and an apple strudel. The mixed Berry and cheese filling was very good and the pastry was good, carrot cupcake was soft with good flavor and I tasted either oil or butter, the blueberry cupcake had lots of berries and the cake was good, my wife thought the mango and pistachio was good but not as good as the mixed Berry and cheese pastry and lastly, the apple in the strudel had a nice little crunch, nuts and good flavor. I will stop by again and try some of the other pastries. They have a wide assortment to choose from. Staff is nice and the Owner/Pastry Chef was willing to answer questions.

Karen E.

Yelp
This is the real deal. The go to place when you're looking for a convenient escape. The family is mixing and baking right there in front of you. My coffee and strudel are delicious. Friendly service makes me feel good. If I'm getting the calories, I'm going to be thoughtful where they come from.

Elaine P.

Yelp
European Delights offers some of the "best ever" croissants. That's the main reason for stopping by. The croissants are large and quite flaky, though on occasion the center was a wee bit doughy. My recent cheese and ham croissant had very little filling. Next time I will stick with a plain croissant. Nothing special about the interior of the shop. Would like more of an European feel that I have experienced elsewhere. Also the young clerks I have encountered could be a bit more upbeat and friendly.

Tori M.

Yelp
Best chocolate and almond croissants I've ever had! Everything was so flaky and perfectly baked. I was really impressed! It was fun to watch the employees creating treats before our eyes. And the free samples were a cherry on top! Looking forward to trying them for catering

Kev H.

Yelp
Finally got to try this bakery with so many European baked goods and morsels. Here's what we got today: - Chocolate cheese cake: This one had a shape like a muffin and I loved the deep chocolate flavor that's balanced from the richness from the cheese/cream cheese. the muffin was moist and delicious. And I liked how it wasn't overly sweet. Price was about $4 as of Feb 2023. - Pistachio cream croissant: The pastry was super flaky and seemed glazed with some kind of syrup - it really reminded me of baklava almost, especially with the filling made with pistachio, which had a deep nutty flavor and was super good. I really enjoyed this one since I don't think I've had a pistachio croissant before. I would get this again, but at the same they offered so much variation of the croissants with different fillings, so I may try those as well next time. Price was about $6 as of Feb 2023. Price was a little high compared to other bakeries, but I would say the quality of their pastries was really good. And also you don't see a lot of European bakeries in the area.

Grace D.

Yelp
Love this mom and pop bakery! Discovered this spot on a whim while supercharging and it's amazing. They have these amazing chocolate croissants that are so big. Definitely so much better and probably more for your book than a local Starbucks. Everything is made fresh daily. It's very reminiscent of some pastries in Europe a definite must try

Jennifer K.

Yelp
This bakery is like stepping into an authentic Euro-bakery - everything is made from scratch and delicious! It's one of those places you'd miss if you didn't find on Yelp, so definitely visit, you won't be disappointed with the service or food.

Walter B.

Yelp
Walt from Walt's Adventures starting my day at European Delights in Walnut Creek, California. I ventured forth to this bakery not knowing their time frame for Sundays. Having previously visited this establishment, I was well prepared to wait until 9:00am. European Delights showed me this morning that heart is at the center of its business plan for they opened their doors for me 30 minutes early. Their newest creation was the Magnifico Guava and Cheese. It was light, flaky, and filled with flavor. I feel as though it was properly named and was a great addition to the already fine and delicious items in store. It is rare for me to award any visitation full marks but not to do so would be a disservice. European Delights is one of the finest bakeries I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. Instead of grabbing something or making that convenient selection, venture to this establishment. Your memories will forever be thankful.

Tamara S.

Yelp
The Best place ever‼ My friend took me there today and I was in Heaven! We order many different deserts and each of them was out of this world! I wish I knew about this place long time ago‼

Craig I.

Yelp
Honestly the absolute best ham and cheese croissant I have had since I last had one in Paris. Kudos to these folks!

Liz B.

Yelp
Very cute neighborhood cafe with a tempting assortment of pastries. The lady that works there (not sure if she's the owner) is also really sweet. I like to get my coffee and pastries before 8 am so unfortunately it doesn't open early enough for me, otherwise I'd go more often.

Maria T.

Yelp
I don't have a picture but This place is really good Usually is always an older gentleman behind the counter And he is nice I love their cheesecake is soo good but the majority of the time I try to get one they are sold out so call ahead The place is small and clean simple but enough for a quick coffee I have to go back to try their coffee

Yulia P.

Yelp
That place is amazing! I cannot believe it took me that long to discover it! Everything looks and tastes fresh and appetizing. The best was plain croissant and Nutella croissant. Next time I will definitely try their coffee and cakes. Staff is very friendly and welcoming! There are few cute seating inside and outside.

Amanda R.

Yelp
Yummy pastries, European taste, American size. The chocolate croissant was baked perfectly, fluffy and soft while still being flaky. The feta croissant was surprisingly good. The Nutella croissant was a little overcooked but my five year old seemed to enjoy it still. Both the blueberry scone and blueberry muffin were filled with sweet blueberries making them a solid choice as well, though the scone wasn't quite as crumbly and layered as one would hope.

Mike N.

Yelp
I visited European Delights for the first time this morning. I ordered a chocolate croissant, blueberry pastry, and apple streusel. Everything was delicious and made with care. The best part of my visit was the wonderful friendly staff who took the time to explain all the yummy choices. This place is a local gem. I will be back!

Elif K.

Yelp
Great service & delicious baked goods. We also had catering for an event and was impressed with their attention to details.

Neil M.

Yelp
This place is an absolute gem. Fantastic pastries showcasing the best of Europe , freshly baked daily , great coffee and huge portion sizes

Mama G.

Yelp
Delicious pastries and not your run of the mill bakery and nice, hardworking people! Wish there were larger tables outside so we could come with more people.
