THE BEST POLISH DELI IN TAMPA BAY. My parents have been going here since we moved here in 1990. Back then it was owned by someone else I believe. The current owners, I believe took over it in the early 2000's. They used to be located off of 49th St. In St. Petersburg. Now they have made the move to Clearwater, which is further away for us, but we still make the drive because nothing even comes close to the quality and accuracy of the food made here. They make all their own deli meats as well as the sausage, bacon, etc. When our family members come from Poland to visit, some even say it is better than what they have back home. I lived in Poland until I was 10 years old and used to go back quite often for summer vacations. When it comes to deli meats, sausages, etc. it is by far the closest thing, or sometimes even better, than the real deal I had back home in Poland. Now, they also have lots of food that is already shipped in from somewhere else. Most of this stuff is already packaged or in jars. They obviously didn't make this stuff themselves, but some of those brands actually do a very good job on getting it really close. For anything in a jar I highly recommend the brands Belveder and Provitus. They seem to get it the closest. The only thing I wish they would still make are their own pierogi. Last few times I was in the store I didn't see any homemade ones. All they have are the packaged ones, which in my opinion are not even close to what my grandma used to make. Luckily I've got that recipe stashed away and can still make my own. Overall if you are looking for the best Polish deli meats, cheeses, bacon, sausages it doesn't get any better than this place. Like I said my family has been coming here for 30 years now and my family in Poland would even love to have these guys around back home. That's saying something. Also one quick tip, these deli meats do not last long. They make everything completely fresh and from scratch. So there aren't any preservatives, or any of that filler crap, or chemicals to make it last longer (like boars head.) so only get enough for about 3-4 days max. This includes all the cheeses as well. These deli meats and cheeses are not made to last 3 weeks in your refrigerator. They spoil quickly (which reminds me why my grandmother would go every other day to get fresh meat back in Poland.). This stuff isn't supposed to last forever like the garbage you get from the grocery stores around here. The sausages do last a little longer maybe a week tops. You can always freeze these things to make them last longer, but to me they don't taste the same afterwards. Also one other note that I absolutely love about this place is that they package everything in paper as opposed to plastic bags. I swear it makes a difference in taste, in a good way. That's how they did it back at home. The prices can't be beaten for the quality you get. That's all I got, sorry for the long review, but I hope it helped to convince you to come by there and check them out.
