You know that feeling when you're at work, on the brink of hunger, ready to pull out what you've brought but you're just not in the mood for those leftovers? Yea, I've been there, a few times as a matter of fact. It's a tune I've sung far too many times. I will say this, I didn't regret the decision to forgo my lunch from home and try European Street again.
As I approached the cafe, parking was limited. If you're looking to come to this location, it's near a residential area and parking is scaled to only a few spots. I was able to park next door in a empty lot.
Once I walked in, I noticed the vast selection of desserts and treats. I posted a video of only about half of what they had to offer. For me, having the sweet tooth that I have, I immediately wanted a slice of the chocolate cake, no, one of the blocks of Rice Krispy treats. I'm sorry, it was the Italian lemon cake I believe. Ha, I wanted them all! This particular trip I didn't get any desserts, I fought my urges.
After I opted out from getting something behind the glass, I decided to get a sandwich instead. There's something I failed to mention, typically before I go to any restaurant, I study the menu ten times over. After having an idea as to what I would like, I walk up to the counter and totally blank. Had it not been for Bonnie assisting me in my decision, I would still be standing at the counter currently. I was in a cross between the Smoker Schmitt Club or a wrap. I wanted something hot but also something that'd fill me up.
Bonnie told me out of the two, she'd get the Smoker Schmitt Club on pumpernickel, toasted. She asked, "what type of bread would you like?" I replied, "I'll have mine, exactly have you have yours." So, with that being said, I walked out with a Bonnie special and wasn't disappointed. I also ordered a Turkey Parisian slider, that wasn't the star of the meal, sorry.
The Smoker Schmitt has both turkey and pastrami, with lettuce, tomatoes, cheddar cheese and mayo. You can choose your bread of choice and rather or not you want it toasted, trust me, you'll want it toasted! There's a slice of bread that separates the two meats, the amount of meat that was placed on the sandwich was ridiculous. I thought my grandmother was in the back making me a sandwich. Grandmothers always, always gives a little extra.
As of right now, this sandwich is my favorite. I'm looking forward to trying some of the other options on the menu. This cafe isn't a secret, the word is out, give them a try.
