The 11 Best Long Island Wineries 2024

"Ev&Em is one of the newest wineries in the North Fork with a gorgeous tasting room and outdoor deck that can accommodate larger groups. It’s worth a visit just to try their barrel-fermented chardonnay, and their light pinot noir is also the perfect candidate for a chilled red you’ll be very into on a scorching hot day. " - anne cruz

How To Survive A Day Of Wine Tastings On Long Island

"Ev & Em is one of the newer wineries in the North Fork, and their large indoor space and covered patio are great for when it starts raining or you’re a little too toasted from lounging outside all day. The flights here are very solid for their $35 price point, and the staff is more than happy to chat enthusiastically about tasting notes without seeming too pretentious or overbearing. If you want just a single glass, the light pinot noir is a great chilled red if you’re the type of person that refuses to drink white wine even when it’s 100 degrees outside. " - anne cruz

What's New on Shelter Island and Long Island's North Fork This Summer

"Over in Laurel, EV&EM Vineyards opened last spring with a sleek tasting room played up by a welcoming fireplace, a lounge-like tasting deck, an additional second-floor tasting deck overlooking the 40-acre property, and a cellar tasting room. The vineyard, now owned by news journalist and avid wine collector Dan Abrams, underwent a complete renovation that incorporates its dedication to sustainability, from the reclaimed wood used in the decor to the herbicide-free, biodiverse methods used in the grape-growing process. The inviting atmosphere, along with tours, a wine club, and private tastings, offers an elevated experience for both the novice and the enthusiast to talk about wine—and learn about winemaking."

Visited on Mother's Day . Made a reservation for 6 online. We were seated in the terrace on the main floor. Hostess came with water and said she only had 3 glasses available. Waited for some time before someone came to take our order. Asked about sitting by the vineyard on the ground floor. We were told we could grab a seat at any available table, but it was self service. Found seating in the vineyard area. The previous guests left glasses and bottles on the table which we cleared ourselves. Then went up to the main floor to order. Got two wines: a red and a white. They were ok. Also ordered a cheese plate, which was small. The hostess brought down some glasses and the cheese plate. She forgot the knife to cut the cheese. We waited a while and later decided to get it ourselves. The service does need improvement. The ambiance is very inviting. The space is modern and well thought out. There are three floors with different vibes. The upper terrace has nice views of the vineyard. The ground floor has comfy couches. The main floor has more of a restaurant vibe. The vineyard is well manicured. This winery is a good option in the area. Would recommend.

Wow what a phenomenal space and wonderful service! Please do yourself a favor and try the stainless steel Chardonnay!! I’m not the biggest fan but was educated on what makes Chardonnay taste extraordinary at EV& EM. You will be greeted, educated, and experience the most luxurious wine! I plan on creating a family girls day here and can’t wait! Will definitely be back! Kristen and Savannah are top tier!!! Loved my experience!!

We reserved a barrel room experience at Ev & Em, which is their upscale version of wine tasting. The online reservation system was really easy to use. Kristen, the general manager, was our guide and gave us excellent information as we toured the vineyard and the wine making area. She incorporated details about how this vineyard uses sustainable practices and is truly a small business. Their various wines are all estate wines and so good! After the tour we had our tasting experience in the barrel room. This included a delightful charcuterie with many local products. This was even better than our vineyard experiences in Italy (really!). The whole place was beautiful and had lots of nice areas both inside and outside for enjoying your North Fork wine tasting experience.

Google
Gorgeous vineyard with impeccable service. The staff were very knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly. We ordered a few charcuterie boards and they were amazing; we were told that the cheese was made locally right down the street and it was incredible. This winery has a welcoming, relaxed vibe and is my new favorite! Highly recommend!

Absolutely wonderful experience at Ev&Em! The service was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The wines were superb, offering a delightful range of flavors that cater to all palates. The atmosphere was enchanting, with beautiful views and a warm, welcoming ambiance. Whether you're a wine connoisseur or just looking for a relaxing day out, Ev&Em is a must-visit. Every detail, from the tastings to the charming setting, is crafted to perfection. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy top-notch wines and impeccable service in a stunning location!

I celebrated my 33rd birthday 2/25. It was amazing we had a party bus drop us off. Though it’s winter season it was still beautiful to visit. Tasting deck has wonderful lighting. We got upgraded to the private cellar to accommodate for very chilly temperatures took minute for tasting deck to warm up. The staff was amazing (Gaetno & Christian) and helpful. My favorite wine was the Steel Chardonnay. We will be back for spring/summer time.

Google
8.6.22 Such a beautiful venue to sit indoors or outdoors and taste their spectacular wines. There are some spots you need reservations. We sat outdoors on the deck and walked around the grounds. It's beautifully landscaped, clean, and has a great vibe. You can sample wines or buy by bottle or glass. Ordering our food took too long for some reason but otherwise all else was great.

Google
Such a beautiful taproom and outdoor area. We had an amazing tasting presented by David, who gave us quite an education not only on the wine, but also on the charcuterie. You could see his passion for the products he presented. This is the exact experience you picture when thinking of a relaxing time on the North Fork. The wine was a priced in the mid range, but you can taste the quality in the products. Certainly worth the price we paid. We'll be back!

Yelp
Great new winery on the North Fork! The Sauv Blanc was unique and the Cab Sauv very good. The owners have a line of wines dedicated to police officers killed in the line of duty and portions of the sale go to families of those officers. Must try (used to be Laurel Lake but lots of nice changes!)

Yelp
Love Ev&Em. We are wine club members and love our monthly visits. There is an inside area that is beautiful with a fireplace, bar seats and a few regular seats. There is an upper patio area that is also very pleasant (just be careful on sunny days-there can be direct sunlight depending on where you sit). There is a lower patio area that is also nice. And they also have picnic tables. Although it doesn't really look kid friendly inside, they have been great when we bring our daughter with us. We have sat with her inside by the fireplace and outside on the lower patio. It wouldn't be my first stop with kids but its nice they are allowed to be there! The wine is good. I usually go with a flight- the classic flight is much better in my opinion over the ev&em2 flight. Their chardonnays are pretty interesting (in a good way)! The cheese platter is good. My one complaint is probably that I wish they had some other food options but I get why they keep it simple. With that being said, I usually go during the week when it isn't too crowded. I'm not sure what a weekend experience is like.

Yelp
Had a surprise bday wine tasting for my friend here & it was soooo peaceful. For around $54 per person, we ordered charcuterie & a four flight wine tasting. I'd definitely recommend that you bring/eat additional snacks as the charcuterie board was family style with a mini fig jam, a small amount of meats/crackers, & a surplus of cheese to share. My party thought we'd at least have one more board as there were ~11 people. Positively, the hostess assigned to our flights was pretty nice and knowledgeable. She was patient as we waited for the rest of our party and didn't rush us to leave or start. Also, they didn't try to upsell us with wines or additonal add-ons. No private area for our large party, but we were nicely situated on the covered patio. we could see the vineyards. There were no rolling hills or amazing landscapes, but decent. I'd recommend if you're in the area as few people came in & out with ample room on a Sunday.

Yelp
My friends and I visited Ev & Em Vineyards for a wine tasting during our girls' weekend. The standout for me was the dry rose; I liked it so much that I bought a bottle to bring home. We also compared two chardonnays with two different flavor profiles, as suggested by our server, which everyone really loved. We were all able to talk about which flavors we preferred in either of the two wines and felt like sommeliers. The charcuterie board was a bit hit or miss, especially with the selection of meats. I personally enjoyed it, but some at my table didn't. We talked to the server, and they mentioned they were experimenting with different meats for the board. In summary, the wine was great, the views were beautiful, and the service was attentive and friendly. I'm eager to return in the future and see how Ev & Em Vineyards continues try the finalized charcuterie board!

Yelp
No view (unless you're on the lawn with the kids), no air circulation (prepare to sweat), and zero acoustics (prepare to yell). Oh, and nonstop thumping bass. Thank god the wine is decent -- you're definitely gonna need it.

Yelp
We were recommended to visit Ev&Em by friends who live in the area. Having been to several vineyards in Long Island, this was by far a favorite. The staff went out of their way to explain the wines, environment, and history. We enjoyed how our flights were poured in separate, standard wine glasses, thus giving us the ability to truly get a taste for the wine. The ambiance both indoors and outdoors was exceptional. The stainless steel chardonnay was our favorite, and we bought two bottles to bring home to Connecticut. We can't wait to go back during our next trip.

Jayson L.

Yelp
A group of us had a nice wine tasting experience on the deck. Surprisingly good wines for Long Island.

Yelp
Ev&Em former Laurel Lake. New owner, same location, same winemaker but upgraded and innovative. Service was excellent and the tasting patios, whether upstairs or on the first floor, are done with tasteful furniture. We didn't care for the railroad seatings on the first floor - too close to comfort, almost sharing your tasting experience with your neighbors. I can not comment too much on the wine as I only had the rosé 2021 and I was more consumed with the new façade, the clean air and gentle autumn sun and conversation with my neighbors that I totally missed the characteristics of the rosé. Which means - I must return to provide a verdict

Yelp
This was the second stop of a winery trip we went on for a Saturday afternoon. Upon arrival, our group sat in one of the nice couches and chairs sections in the front. We fit a party of 6 their comfortably. Like we usually do at wineries, we ordered a bottle of both white and red wine and split them. This place also has delicious tasting wine. I enjoyed both very much. For me personally, I liked the red one a bit more. But overall, this was a great place to hang out at and drink.

Yelp
The property is super well kept. The service was great and I loved that they were a dog friendly establishment. My favorite wine was gewürztraminer over the stainless steel Chardonnay. I had a great experience. Thank you

Yelp
Despite an umcomfortable situation with our server (I felt she judged by my appearence and was very unpleasent) I have to give this place 5 stars. I was quickly told by who I think was one of the owners is that it was the woman's first day on the job. The winery is absolutely stunning inside and out. It is extremely dog friendly which I love amd the rest of the staff is friendly and very pleasant. The only thing I wish was different is being able to just grab a glass of wine at the bar and pick a seat as opposed to being let to a seat amd having to wait for a server.

Yelp
I love this place. Service was great, seated right away. I love the atmosphere of it all. Beautiful grounds, very spacious and clean. The wine was great too! My husband and I shared our tastings. We did the classic and the EV&EM wine. We also shared the hummus plate with pita bread which was perfect just for picking. I would definitely come back here and probably just get a full glass of wine as I know what I enjoy now. It was also a Sunday and there was live music. Singer had a beautiful voice and definitely pertained to the atmosphere and making the experience all the more enjoyable. We raved about the stainless steel Chardonnay and he ended up giving us another tasting free of charge to compare the fermented one to the stainless steel. Exceptional service and totally unexpected. Highly recommend.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I went to Ev & Em Vineyards for my birthday. As a special surprise, my girlfriend booked the barrel room experience where we got a tour of the vineyard, a flight of wine, and a charcuterie board. The wine in our flight was delicious, the favorite being the stainless steel chardonnay, and the barrel room was the perfect environment for tasting. Kristen, the general manager, was extremely kind and hospitable. After we finished our tasting and charcuterie spread (fresh and tasty), we went to the tasting room where we got another glass of wine. Kristen recommended their pinot noir. Probably the best wine I ever had. While drinking the pinot noir, I had a very nice conversation with Kristen, who was very informative and great to talk to. As it was the off season, we had the entire vineyard to ourselves. I'm looking forward to experiencing the busy season and intend on returning in the fall. This vineyard has the potential to being my favorite vineyard in the north fork.

Yelp
Great food, ambiance. Service was a little slow but would still recommend compared to other near by places. And lastly had awesome picturesque views.

Yelp
Amazing! Our first time here and I was blown away! Our server, Alexis, was so attentive and gave us the backstory on each wine in our tasting -- I learned so much I never knew about wine. We each did one tasting flight and the charcuterie plate. Then we got a bottle of rose! The wines are delicious and the upstairs patio has gorgeous views! We definitely got our sun in. Absolutely recommend to anyone for a great time! Plan to hang out for a casual leisurely time.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this winery. We went for the first time and had made a group reservation. We did the classic flight. Our server was attentive and friendly. We enjoyed the wine tasting and loved the individual charcuterie plates we got with it. The upstairs patio was really nice, great views and shaded, which helped with the heat and sun. They have some nice couches and seating area on the lower level. We walked around in the vineyard area as well. Beautiful vineyard. Definitely would come back!

Victoria S.

Yelp
Wow, what a stunning vineyard. So clean and beautifully designed. Love that they have a rooftop/deck and then a nice patio as well as a big dinning area. Loved their pinot gris. Felt like we were in another place with all the beach grass/pampas. Loved it!

Yelp
I will leave an updated review when they get a little more settled in. The venue is nice and modern. I'm looking forward to their outdoor area when the weather is nicer. Their wines are ok. We really enjoyed the Gewurztraminer and the staff is friendly.

Mackenzie M.

Yelp
I went here with a few colleagues after work. I had heard this place wanted to be upscale, so I was concerned about the prices. The wine prices are average, but I also wanted to order food to accompany the wines. This place needs to check the competition! For $18 they offer a paper plate with a few slices of cheese and a few crackers. For a little more I can get a pizza to share at Jamesport Vineyards. And if I really want a meal, at 40-50 dollars, I can get a meal for two of full cheeses and a full baguette at Mattebella. Similar wines and prices. C'mon Ev & Em upgrade and impress us. I can go to 7-11 and get your cheese and crackers! Service was ok, no interaction. Just ok. I'm a local make me want to stop here as a special treat.

James K.

Yelp
Very tasteful design and stunning outdoor seating looking onto the vineyard. The wines were excellent, we had a flight and enjoyed every one of them. Service was also excellent. We will be back may times I am sure!
