Evan's Seafood

We came from Ontario and had heard about Evan’s Seafood, so we had to try it and it did not disappoint. The lobster rolls were absolutely delicious, with a generous portion of lobster. Every dish we ordered was fantastic. The restaurant is perfectly located on the waterfront, offering both indoor and outdoor seating with beautiful views of Halifax Harbour and a relaxed, casual vibe. The staff were amazing and incredibly friendly. If you’re visiting Halifax, this place is a must-try. Absolutely amazing!

It’s said to be one of the best seafood restaurants in the Halifax area, and I can see why. I visited twice during my stay. The chowder was amazing, and the seafood plate — with fried fish fillet and assorted seafood — was delicious, though the fried clams were a bit too oily. The lobster roll was also excellent. What makes it even better is the setting — you can sit outside with a beautiful view of the bay and downtown Halifax. Definitely worth a visit and great value for money!

This place came high regarded, and decided to give it a try. We ordered the lobster roll which was super fresh. The bun was moist and melted in your mouth. It must be like what biting into a cloud feels like. The lobster itself was super flavourable and they do load a good amount in the bun. We ordered a side a regular fries and a side of sweet potatoes fries. Both fries were fresh and tasty. We also ordered the fish cakes which were flakey and came with a side of pickled onions and I think pickles. You order your food at a counter and they bring the food to your table. I would come here again and try other menu items. This whole meal with tap water came to $93 which I feel like is a little expensive.

A fantastic place for fish and chips with great value, as a visitor from Toronto! I came here with my family of 4 and we ordered the Small Family Pack ($70) which came with 10 large pieces of fried haddock and two large fries, the jambalaya ($20), and some soft drinks. The grand total was ~$120 including tax and tip. It took 15-20 minutes to make our food (they are freshly fried), and I could not believe the portion sizes! The fish here were gigantic and absolutely delicious with the tartar sauce. They are a tad under seasoned, but perhaps this is deliberate to showcase the fresh flavor of the haddock. The fries were crispy and delicious as well. The overall flavor gets a bit repetitive once you’ve had too much, but the SMALL party pack could easily feed 4-5 people. My girlfriend wanted to try the jambalaya, but I thought it was a bit average (or maybe just not for me). The most ordered items definitely seem to be the fish and chips, lobster roll, and lobster poutine! This place could definitely benefit from adding different types of sauces for the fish and chips (maybe a curry sauce like how the brits do it), but the price-performance ratio of Evan’s Seafood is incredible! Very worth it and I’d recommend you come here to give it a try.

Evans comes up as one of the best seafood places around. We took a visiting friend here and this did not disappoint. The lobster roll was amazing, a staple! Fish and chips were so fresh as well. The view is beautiful, I would recommend coming here on a summer evening.

Evan’s Seafood is my go-to place on Dartmouth waterfront. Previously I thought their lobster poutine was my favorite. But after I tried their scallop sandwich, I have reconsidered my decision. The scallops were fried with the right amount of time, still tender and juicy but definitely cooked. The salsa and coriander on top added to the delicious taste and made the taste of scallops standing out even more. Would love to bring friends back.

My girlfriend took me here for a cute little Harbour lunch on the patio. We lucked out with a beautiful day. The staff were super friendly and the food was delicious! We had the crab cakes and lobster roll. Both were so so good! Thank you again, hope to be back soon.

Even as I write this, I wish I lived close enough to Evan’s to get a lobster poutine. Was in Halifax the 2nd week of October and Evan’s was recommended by locals to get a lobster roll. Had the day to myself and took the ferry transition to Dartmouth downtown and Evan’s was conveniently located at the dock. It was a weekday c. 2:30pm so there was no line-up, lots of seating and the sun was shining and glistening off the water. Instead of the roll, I opted for the lobster poutine and loved it! Crispy fries, white gravy with the right amount of thickness and ooziness, melty cheese curds (my preferred kind) and sweet big lumps of fresh lobster. It was delicious and that, paired with taking in the lovely view of boats on the water, made it a pretty perfect afternoon. Note: Service and atmosphere were fine. Ordered at the counter and it was brought out to me, but nothing special, and barstools were a bit uncomfortable which is why I rated them 4.

Great spot just off the ferry terminal with a waterfront seating area and mini bar. The lobster roll was delicious; served warm with a good portion of meat. I'd also recommend the Poutine and fish and chips (not pictured).

TL;DR/The Short Version: Seafood restaurant right at the Alderney Ferry Landing. Food was good, but the Platter for 2 was really small for 2 people. The Long Version: I had heard great things about Evan's Seafood so my husband and I made a special trip to Dartmouth from Halifax on our vacation to check it out. It's right by the Alderney Ferry Landing so we took the ferry over and we were right there (ferry fare was $3 a person and it's a 15 minute ride). We got the Platter for 2 ($40) which came with 2 pieces of haddock, 4 Digby scallops, a half order of clams, half fries and half salad. We got to choose our salad (from Cesar, garden, spinach or Greek) and we got the garden salad with the dressing on the side. The amount of food was not sufficient for 2 people, imo. We had to go get a second dinner afterwards, lol. (My husband is an average-sized man and I am a much smaller than average-sized woman). Everything fit on one regular-sized dinner plate. However, the food did taste good ;) The Platter for 2 is gluten-free by default. The haddock breading was crunchy and I liked that it wasn't overly greasy. The scallops were a good size and were nicely cooked. Tender and not rubbery. The clams were good as well, although there was lots of batter on them. The fries were crispy and although not shoestring fries, I still enjoyed them. The salad was fresh and had a good variety of vegetables, but it was only a few mouthfuls. You order and pay at the counter. You tell them if you want to sit indoors or outdoors. They give you a numbered table sign and you place it wherever you want to sit. They will bring the food to you when it's ready and will clear the table when you're done, but they do not check up on you otherwise. Ambiance is...well...you're eating at a ferry terminal, lol. But if you eat outside, you're by the water. The patio was busy though, so we ate inside. I'm glad we tried it and it was fun taking the ferry over. (178)

Went with seafood platter for 2. Plenty of food . Found fish just a bit chewy, rubbery . They have now teamed up with Dartmouth brewery- so ordered bottle of wine with dinner. Tables right on the water, close to ferry. Turnoff was seeing 3-4 mice? Rats? Running under picnic tables

Evan's Seafood uses a fast-casual operation model where you order and pay at the register, obtain a number, sit down, and they'll bring you the food. Their 'taste of everything' platters are a great way to sample the menu. The platter for two ($35) comes with two pieces of fish (we added an additional piece for $6), clams, scallops, fries, and salad. The fried fish was exactly how I like it prepared. Very lightly battered so there's a delicate crispy crust encapsulating flaky fish. The moist fish was delightful and made even better with some of the zesty creamy tartare sauce, which arrives two to an order. Similarly, the fried scallops are lightly breaded, so the scallops' sweetness stands out and is best enjoyed au naturel. They were addictively delicious; I could easily have a full order of these on a return visit. Only the clams were something I could have lived without. They're a bit "fishier" tasting and greasier since it's more battered. Still, with a squeeze of the lemon and hot sauce the flavours improved. The fries and salad were a decent portion for sharing. And while the fries were a bit soft, they were made from cut potatoes and tasted fresh. Tasty food and the beautiful Halifax skyline view aside, what made the experience excel was their friendly service. We were well looked after, with people regularly checking in on us, despite sitting on the patio. And the cashier stressed that we didn't need to add a gratuity, although it would be appreciated. When my friend pressed her about why she'd decline a tip, she noted that it's a tough economy and didn't want customers to feel pressured if they couldn't afford the extra money. How thoughtful and refreshing, I left nourished on the inside and out.

Visiting from the US, I looked up places to eat and started looking at menus. They sold me when I saw on their website talking about celiac and that their menu was gluten free. Evan's is amazing! The food was delicious. The staff (and owner) are great! And the view wasn't too bad either--looking at the Halifax skyline across the water.

We only grabbed the lobster roll on its own, while the lobster meat was on the skimpy side, the flavours were great! After reading the previous reviews, I guess they just reduce the amount of lobster meat in the roll over the years. For a takeout joint, $30($26+tax) for this roll alone was pricey in my opinion. We were asked to tip on the takeout as well, which is a little ridiculous because there was no table service just waited for the buzzer to buzz and we got up and went to pick it up, we simply got a box with the roll and had to ask for a fork and napkin. I've had similar priced rolls in other local joints and they came with sizes, coleslaw etc!

We stopped at Evan's as part of our all day tour of Halifax and Dartmouth. Because of this I wasn't expecting value or quality, but I am pleased to say I Was Wrong. This place serves up fresh fish at value prices. We had the 3 piece Fish and Chips (we actually substituted Onion Rings for the fries). The gluten free coating was a change from the batter dipped we have been accustomed to, but it was light and delicious. The Onion Rings were crispy goodness. Others with us had the scallops and shrimp. All was great. The staff were extremely polite and helpful. The views of the harbor from the outside deck were great. Definitely the place for seafood in Dartmouth while enjoying the view of Halifax.

Such friendly staff, the fish and chips were delicious everyone enjoyed them. The lobster roll is surprisingly, as it was warm and loaded with lobster. The scallops were sweet. They have probably 10 tables and lots of parking. The restaurant is inside what looks like a farmers market with other small stores. 10 pieces were definitely too much for 4 adults, we had leftovers the next day in the air fryer and it wasn't bad either.

Great pricing and great seafood! The platter was worth to get as you get a bit of everything you serve. It was fresh and crispy. Took the boat form Halifax over.

Lobster roll, lobster roll, lobster roll! I'm a huge fan of lobster rolls, and coming from Toronto, I knew I had to try one. I got there right when it opened and it was awesome. Normally, lobster rolls come cold but this one was actually warm - which is something I've been wanting for a while. Ambiance: N/A - it's more of a takeout spot/food court. So it's nothing special, but it was nice with the pop up vendors/market there selling stuff. Food: 4/5 - I loved it and would definitely come back again. Like I said, it was warm, soft and buttery. Really enjoyed it. Service: 4/5 - Friendly individual who took my order! Overall: 4/5, highly recommended!

It's unassuming that Evan's would be so good being attached to the ferry terminal. It looks kinda like a food court stall. But, of course, never judge a book by its cover. The staff were so nice and friendly! Knowledgeable too! We ended up getting the sample platter so we could try everything as well as 8 oysters. Here's what I loved: the fried haddock, onion rings, Caesar salad, and the shucked oysters. Did not care for: fried scallops, fried shrimp (they were fried while with the shells still on), fried clams.

I will not be returning. I have been coming here for the past 3 years excited for the lobster roll + the recipe. It had always been consistent. On our visit this weekend, they have clearly changed ownership or have changed what they're willing to offer their customers. When you compare the photos of Feb 2024 and June 2024 it's pathetic. They have reduced the amount of meat, changed to smaller buns and added heaps of mayo to fill the roll BUT no change in price. I will not recommend this spot any longer.

Stopped by this place with friends the day I left Halifax for the lobster rolls and it did not disappoint! The food was tasty and you can see from the counter that it's made fresh to order. The lobster roll wasn't a big as I thought it would be. You can see in the photo that it's about the same size as a hotdog. However, the roll and the fries filled me up. The oysters were very fresh and absolutely delicious. There are tables so you can eat in if you want; and the server will bring the food right to your table. The staff were friendly and will make suggestions if you're on the fence about what to order. We arrived around lunch time and the line was massive, so if you're starving you might have to wait a bit. Overall we had a great experience, I will be back next time. An added bonus is that it's very easy to get to from Halifax since it's in the same building as the ferry station.

I ordered a haddock taco and a scallop taco. They were well cooked and I liked the homemade tortillas. The overall taste of the tacos were bland. The fish was juicy, same with the scallops, but the choice of toppings made the whole taco lack anything special. The guac was the only thing I ended up tasting when I took a bite with it. The price doesn't equate to the taste.

Visited Evan's a lot while on short term assignment in Dartmouth. Great lunch spot by the water with fresh seafood and lots of selection and affordable prices. Service/staff is great. If you're hungry, I recommend getting the seafood platter (or if you want to share and try everything). Haddock is not beer battered (in case that's what you're expecting), but seasoned well. Lobster roll and the seafood chowder are always crowd pleasers when I've brought people for lunch.

We came here for dinner tonight, we ordered fried fish haddock, fish taco, seafood chowder, and lobster roll. Highly recommend the seafood chowder, they gave us so much fish and lobster, not sure if thats because it's end of the day and it comes with a bun. Lobster roll is on the pricey end but it tastes good, bun is warm and crispy with lots of lobster. Great and friendly service even it's a food court/take out style.

Entirely unpretentious little lunch counter -- plus frozen fish to go -- in the ferry terminal on the Dartmouth waterfront. We'd heard good things but weren't entirely sure what to expect given the setting. We were quite pleased with the seafood plate and the lobster poutine that we ordered. The fried seafood was golden-brown delicious; the side caesar salad was fresh and loaded with crisp bacon; and the lobster poutine was delightful, almost like a lobster alfredo with fries instead of noodles. Service was cheerful and helpful, and we enjoyed seeing them interact with customers who were obviously regulars and not tourists like us.

Amongst the best seafood we had in Halifax and area. Had the platter for 2. Patio overlooking the harbour was fantastic. Great local beers on tap outside.

I'm still confused as to why Evan's seafood had such high ratings. My yelp search for the best fish and chips in the area was the reason why we stopped here. The staff helped us order too. The seafood platter, which was recommended because we can taste bit of everything was underwhelming. The fish was bit dry. The clams were very chewy. The scallops were greasy as they were fried and the French fries were cold. We also ordered lobster roll and it had lots of veggies and not enough lobster. It was such a disappointment. I'd say pass on this one.

So glad that some locals we met at the Devour Film Fest recommended Evan's Seafood at Alderney Landing in Dartmouth. You can take the walk on ferry from Halifax across the way for a lovely view and bite or drive across the bridge (just remember there's a toll). We stopped here on our last morning before flying home. We lucked out and it was a Saturday market day with so many amazing local vendors selling their wares and fresh baked goodness. We opted on just sharing one fish taco and a single piece of fish so that we could also get some treats in the market. Both items were prepared perfectly. Tender, moist, and full of flavour. I would most definitely order these two items again and again and again. The food was DELISH and the view heavenly outside from the picnic tables overlooking the bay (even if it was coooooooold). It's open seating here - not restaurant style, think food court. And I imagine you could even get your fish 'n chips to go and take it on the ferry with you as well :-) After reading all the fellow Yelper reviews, I wish we had tried the chowder! Will definitely do that if we ever get the chance to go back. Two thumbs up Evan's Seafood, Two thumbs up!

The food is exceptional. Hard to decide what to choose from the menu - the lobster poutine is delicious, the haddock and fries very tasty. They have acquired an outdoor bar area on the harbourside - lovely place to enjoy a meal. Make it a stop on your trip to the area, you will not be disappointed.

A maritime favourite! Cafeteria/Scandinavian style restaurant with fresh fish, scallops, clams, fries, and lobster poutine! A lot of their food is Gluten-free. If you're not GF, don't worry, the food is so good you wouldn't know the difference. Evans also offers fresh/frozen fish for purchase in case you would like to cook at home. I've been eating here for 6 years and the quality is still thriving. Great to see.

My partner and I were craving a good lobster roll so we went to Evan's to try their offerings. We bought a one lobster roll and a small lobster poutine for a total of about $88. The first thing we noticed is that it was warm, which was unexpected. There seemed to be a decent amount of lobster but the vast majority of it was ground (tomale?) with very very few tiny choice pieces of lobster. Taste-wise, instead of mayo, which one would traditionally find on these sandwiches, it had hot butter and some herbs. While this may sound attractive - it' wasn't at all. The herbs were completely overpowering (and overall rather disgusting). You couldn't taste the actual lobster in either the rolls or the poutine because of whatever recipe they were using. Overall, I'd have been way happier with a McLobster. I'd give 0/5 stars if the ratings allowed. The ambiance is that of a cafeteria. Not terrible. But all orders had to be done at the counter which seemed to take an inordinate amount of time considering it wasn't terribly busy. The food did arrive quite quickly after ordering -which would have been lovely if it was any good. It was quite simply the worst tasting lobster roll either of us had ever tried. We choked down what we could (it WAS $88 after all, which we were saving as a treat), and we took what we had left and will try and fix it with some mayo or something, though I don't have high hopes for success in this endeavor. Would not recommend.

OUTSTANDING!!! This place was a hidden gem for me and my friends visiting from the US. While I dont eat seafood, the cauliflower tacos were an AMAZING vegetarian option. My friends had the lobster roll, the haddock burger, lobster putine and there was only praise heard around the table. One of the best parts of our lunch there was the server Nathan! He was so helpful and welcoming and truly a great representive for Canadian kindness. If you live in Halifax and haven't eaten here you are missing out big time!

This was on the list of one of the best places for lobster rolls in Halifax area. We were staying in Dartmouth and as this was by the ferry terminal and downtown, we thought we would try it. It was located right by the ferry terminal. As it was a Saturday, there was a farmer's market there as well. The lobster rolls took fairly long to make so we waited quite a while for a take out type of place. It was different than other lobster rolls as it was hot and it had a slightly different spin to it than other places. Definitely worth a try.

There was a great debate among many of the locals that we talked about who had the best fish in the Halifax area. It came down to two: John's Lunch and Evan's Seafood. As we headed toward the airport to head for our Alberta home, we decided to make time to stop off at both and make up our minds for ourselves. Evan's Seafood was located at the Alderney Landing Farmer's Market in Dartmouth. As we walked in this lovely Saturday morning, the market was bustling and busy and the lineup for Evan's was quite long. Fortunately, we didn't have to wait very long to order our one piece Haddock and spicy fish tacos. We found a table just outside the doors in the eating area and the young staff member didn't take long to find us and delivered our food right to us. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that he brought the food out to us on a porcelain plate and with real stainless steel cutlery, not the cheap paper plates and plastic forks and knives that most food courts have. I'll have to admit, Evan's Seafood was fantabulous! I can thoroughly understand why so many locals raved about Evan's. The fish was cooked perfectly and carried just the right amount of seasoning to make the meal fantastic! While I didn't find the fish tacos spicy per se, the flavour was such that it made me forget about the spiciness or lack there of. While I have already posted a very positive review of John's Lunch (check it out!), the consensus is clear... Evan's Seafood and John's Lunch are two VERY different places but they both can boast of having EXCELLENT food! I recommend highly both places if you like great local fish. I am not going to pick a winner only because we were the ones who won in the end!

After 5 days in Halifax desperate to eat a delicious lobster roll, I found it by taking the ferry to Dartmouth (Alderney ferry, I believe) It was right there as you exit the ferry on the right side (end of corridor). It looks like a market seafood stand but the food they make is better than at all the restaurants we tried in Halifax Harbourfront. There is a quaint outdoor patio to comfortably enjoy your food. We Ordered a lobster roll (6/5) and a lobster poutine (5/5) We left so happy to have gone there. Super friendly staff too. If you want great seafood at a reasonable price, take the ferry across from Halifax harbour downtown and Enjoy!

Best meal we've had in Dartmouth. Both the Lobster roll, F&C, Salad, Onion Rings even the fries were great. Great customer service too. They don't do delivery so got Uber to pick up and deliver - all simple/easy. Will be back !!

Halifax being the type of city that it is (port, with a colonial British-centric background), there's a lot of fish and chips here. Even pizza places have it as a menu fixture! And with that comes even more opinions on who serves the best. Truth be told, a third is going to be average, if you're lucky. The bulk of the rest is worse than forgettable; so mushy or overcooked that you'd prefer to forget it and it went back to the freezer from whence it came, but its awfulness has scarred your taste buds' memories. Evan's, however, is a humble place just across the harbour (and I mean *just*), that consistently comes up when the best fish and chips joints in the city are being discussed. Located right in Alderney Landing, it's owned by a fishing family, so that's a big feather in their cap of legitimacy (it's the latest fashion). While slowly whittling down my list of restaurants to try out for the first time, I decided to take the ferry over to Evan's on a cool, but sunny, winter day. Not being particularly familiar with the complex, I took an embarrassingly long time to find the place, so the easy directions for others is just go left once you're off the ferry. Not up any steps, just keep going left. Learn from my shame. I planned my trip to arrive after the lunch rush would be over, so there was no line and just a couple of the tables that were occupied in the food court-ish set up. To no one's surprise, their compact menu is honed in on seafood, with the likes of fish and chips, scallops, lobster rolls and lobster poutine. Given the way this review started, it will also come as no surprise that I went with the fish and chips, although just one piece so that I wouldn't put myself in a fried food-coma. After ordering at the counter, I sat down and took in the nice view across the harbour. My food was brought out in fairly quick order. The fish was a respectable size and the pile of hand-cut fries was healthy (figuratively) as well. I knew what I was getting into when it came to the style of fish here at Evan's - they use a gluten free breading instead of my preferred beer batter. That said it was crispy, and the fish was super fresh, although a little thin compared to most places. The fries were quite crispy for hand-cut ones, and the tartar sauce was so good that I was dipping my fries in it. While a breaded piece of fish will never be the best of the best in my books, this was a fine entry and they know what they're doing at Evan's. Bonus points for a menu that is mostly gluten free, which is nice for a type of food that typically isn't accessible to people with celiac.

We double all orders after our 5 hours flight from edmonton. Delicious and fresh! Recommend.

We're visiting from California and saw the reviews. Thank the gods that we did, as the lobster roll was GREAT. That led to repeat visits. Was it 3 or 4 times in the past week? Doesn't matter. Every meal we had there was on point. My wife wanted to try their gluten-free carrot cake. I wasn't so sure about that. But tried a bite of her slice. Carrot cake was added to my subsequent orders. The staff was as great as the meals they prepare and serve too. Highly recommend you make the time to pay them a visit.

Evan's Seafood!! Why didn't I know you existed? Probably because I just moved over the bridge... After searching on Yelp to figure out where we wanted to eat, Evan's won! I love fish burgers, and every review pretty much agrees that it's a must order here. Add me to the list! Delicious fresh fish, sandwiched between an incredible soft bun, covered in (what I'm guessing is) home-made tartar sauce - at only $5.00, this is a must order! You can also order a spicy fish burger... We also got the lobster poutine, and some fried scallops (we were very hungry) The lobster poutine was super good, but, there wasn't very many pieces of lobster in it, for nearly $10 with tax, and it was fairly small. Their tartar sauce was the best I've ever had - I can't even explain it, you have to try it for yourself. The food was great, the service was great - however, we found the price (overall) to be quite high for just the two of us, considering, there was no seating (very limited and already filled) and we were still a bit hungry after finishing. However, I will definitely get another fish burger from here in the near future!

A small restaurant, owned by a nice family. The daughter served me, her husband manages the booth and her dad catches the fish! It is located in Alderney Landing which is one floor below the library at Alderney Gate. Just walk down towards the water. Also people pop in there by taking a ferry from Halifax. Once off the ferry, walk towards your left until you see the sign. Good for cruise ship passengers who want a nice lunch by the water. I ordered a lobster roll which came on a warmed bun. It comes with a wee bit of fries on the side. Joke was on me, there was a very large amount of fries on the side. I liked it and I would return again. Went here yesterday for a bit of lunch. From the outside the place looks like it is going to be a lot fancier than it actually is, but for lunch this is not a big deal... the food is still excellent. I ordered the fish and chips... while the chips aren't the greatest in the world, the fish is perfect. Haddock deep fried to perfection, it doesn't need any additional toppings like tartar sauce or lemon... just eat the fish, because it is perfect!

Finally tried this place out after many many trips to Alderney...what was I thinking waiting so long? Gluten free to boot! Amazing! I ordered a one piece fish and chips to go, even though I was staying, because 99% of the time I eat out I take home leftovers. Well not today! I scarfed everything down, not even sure I took a breath! Fish was crispy, flaky and delicious, fries were thick and Dutch like...just the way I like them. And I could bathe in the tartar sauce...just kidding, but it was really good! Thank you for the wonderful service and the chat after I ate! I will be back, I will bring friends! :)

In reality this place is a 4.5, but Yelp doesn't like those half stars. We visited during the free ferry day during the Natal day celebrations. Service is minimal and in true Halifax style. You order and pay at the counter and sit down outside on the nice patio looking out on to the Halifax coastline. The servers bring out your food and you eat. We ordered the Lobster Roll with salad and Lobster Poutine. The roll had a lot of lobster meat on it with a light mayo dressing. The bun was buttery but if I recall correctly it wasn't toasted. The salad was a much better choice that fries, it's a nice light side for a heavy meal. It had nice additions of raw mushrooms and the housemade dressing (Maple Dijon) was delicious. Unfortunately, I was not a fan of the poutine. The fries were cooked perfectly, the gravy was great and the lobster portion was good but the cheese was all wrong. I think the poutine would've been much better with proper cheese curds. It just made the whole thing too messy and stringy. Don't get me wrong, the poutine was very good. Just not something I enjoy personally.

Food was fresh and delicious! Had the combination platter, very reasonable price for the amount of food you get. The view is awesome too.

Visited this place when I was on vacation in Halifax and what can I say... the lobster and the seafood chowder tasted better than they looked!

Came here this summer for some lobster poutine (been on a hunt for them) & then also got the seafood chowder. Other than the fish being really fresh, I really wasn't a fan of their dishes. Pretty plain in flavour :( As far as purchasing the seafood to bring home, is rate 5star but as for restaurant just the 3.

Dropped by this place on my last day in Nova Scotia as a last minute attempt to cram one more seafood dish in after seeing the reviews! So glad I made the walk down to this place from my Airbnb! After debating on what to get, I went with the lobster roll. The sauce/mayo is not too heavy, and there's a lot of lobster meat packed in to a warm buttery bun. I thought this would be a pretty heavy meal but it was a good solid but not too heavy meal. Would definitely go back and get this again.

Hidden Gem that is amazing! If you are coming in on a cruise and you want incredible fish & chips - THIS is the place! You dock in Halifax and walk down the boardwalk (which is beautiful) to the ferry terminal. For $2 take the cutest round ferry over to Darmouth (5 min) ferry terminal (very safe!). Go in ferry terminal and turn left to end of the ferry terminal building (1 minute). Evan's is right there and it has inside and outside seating (great views of Halifax). It doesn't seem right that the food can be this good and the service so friendly - in a terminal building but IT IS TRUE! Their fish/chips are gluten-free making the batter on the fish practically float off the plate. French fries are crisp and hot! (every time we have gone so it is not just luck!) They have gluten-free desserts that are just outstanding (lemon or chocolate or carrot cake). Nice size helpings and lovely, friendly service. Excellent prices! I don't understand it. They are so good! In a ferry building! Oh, they have other fish also and scallops, etc. but I go for the fish and chips!
