Masked and Social Distanced Farmers Markets Are Back in Chicago for 2021 | Eater Chicago

"Vendors reported record sales in 2020 despite strict safety measures such as mask requirements, entrance checkpoints, one-way traffic and limits on eating and on-site activities. The ban on prepared foods was lifted partway through the season, and organizers are eager to restore the market’s community elements — like tables, kids’ programming and live music — that attract families and enhance the overall experience. Operators hope easing of other restrictions will make vendor operations less labor-intensive and allow shoppers to interact more normally with products." - Sam Nelson

Google
A fun place to find the freshest produce, unique treats, and more! Open throughout the whole summer until the start of November, this farmers’ market is filled with a variety of different vendors. They have everything from baked goods to fresh fruits and vegetables to beautifully picked flowers and more. Checking out this market is a fun way to spend an early Saturday morning before it gets too cold!

Google
Gladiolas, green beans, fresh tofu, Fred’s bread, Katisch’s bread, ripe tomatoes and summer peaches. There's also small batch tea, lemonade and really good coffee. Make an outing out of it or grab just what you need.

My first time at this market in my favorite was Banford Rd.,Farm organic produce, His prices seems to be the best along with the quality. Good thing about this farmers market is the parking garage is right next to it and they validate your parking ticket so bring it with you. I posted some pictures of his stuff I came late so he was sold out of some items so come early. He is at the end of the line with a tan canopy with the words Regenerative Organic on it. This certified organic farm is selling: Updated 2025 farmers markets: Banford Road Farm is at: Park Ridge and Woodstock Square on Saturday's 7am- 1pm. Elmhurst Wednesdays 7 AM to 1 PM .get there early he sells out quick.

An eclectic variety of fresh local produce, baking, crafted food, and more. Vendors are friendly and prices range - but are consistent between vendors. Loved the smell your at LFK - travel for the senses.

Google
One of the best farmers markets in the Chicagoland area. Great community of farmers and locals. Today we were privileged to listen to to two musical groups, both of which were spectacular.

Google
One of the best farmers markets in the area There is a very diverse selection, including baked goods (gluten free options), plants, herbs, flowers, etc Great community farmers markets

Google
Nice cute Farmers Market with a good variety of vegetables, flowers, some pastries (usually gluten free), sharpening knives atation, oil, crepe and more. The people over there are very nice and helpful and the prices are usually high but some are reasonable.

Google
Love the E-Town Farmer's Market! I have noticed that this year, there seems to be less actual open Farm stands and a greater number of Food/Drink booths.

Yelp
Fabulous as usual with additional music available today. This has really grown into a very vibrant community.

Yelp
I love heading over to the Evanston Farmer's market in the summer. Growing up, I was always under the assumption farmer's markets only sold fruit and vegetables. Boy was I wrong! The Evanston Farmer's market not only sells produce but a host of other things. My last visit, I spent nearly 2 hours going through at least 3 dozen vendors. If you're a foodie or a home chef, you will love this place. I found things like specialty pasta from Pasta Pappone, pasta sauce from the River Valley Ranch tent and some beautiful gladiolus stems I sent over to my mom the following day. There are vendors that sell meats and cheese. A few even offer home delivery services. The food vendor line up at this market is also very good and worth checking out. This year Defloured Bakery from Chicago has a tent and they have some of the best gluten free cupcakes in town. I ended up buying a Whoopie pie. If you want to order ahead of time, Defloured accepts pre-orders online for pick up at the market. Their online pre-order menu has more items for sale versus onsite. You would just prepay before picking up your baked goods. A few local restaurants like Gotta B Crepes and Cocina Azteca have set up space so if you get hungry from all the walking those options are readily available. I've tried both restaurants and both are delicious. If you park in the nearby public parking garage next to the Hilton Garden Inn, your parking is free as long as you remember to validate your ticket at the City of Evanston tent on your way out. My only ding on the market (and this might be COVID related) is the lack of seating on the grounds. The Farmer's market page on the City of Evanston website says food can't be consumed on site. So if you plan on eating, you will need to take it to-go. If you are in the area, I would recommend coming to the market at least once for the experience.

Yelp
First time attending the outdoor farmers market. It was a brisk morning but the warmth of the sun made it bearable. Many locals were waiting in line when I arrived. There are many local favorite vendors like Newport Coffee and Bennison's Bakery at the market and many other varieties of vendors on hand for whatever your heart desires. I enjoyed talking to vendors about their business and their stories. Everyone was friendly and adjusting well to our new normal due to the pandemic. I can't wait to taste the herb ciabatta bread I brought along with coffee and chocolate. Now I know what to expect, I sure will return again before the season ends. The Downtown Farmers' Market supports local vendors opens on Saturdays from 7:00 am to 1:00 p.m. until November 7. Face covering is required. Pets are not allowed and you can bring your own bags. You can get more information and the vendors list from the City of Evanston website

Yelp
Typical farmers market with lots of variety. Lots of fresh vegetable farm stands, but there were a new stand out and unique stands as well. The line for crepes was crazy long, so I opted out this time around. Other stands included kombucha, caramel and chocolate candies, mediterranean spreads and pitas, honey, and specialty breads. Tables were set up for those who wants to eat after shopping. Will definitely come back during the summer to look for in season fruits and vegetables!

Yelp
Was average , prices were high limited selection. I guess there are two sections but my friend didn't want to go explore. Next time I'm leaving him in the car.

Yelp
Even early in the season, a lot of wonderful choices. Great cheeses, great bread, and great Mexican food. BUT...the new parking garage system is TERRIBLE! A long traffic jam to get out of the parking garage from everyone having to take the time to pay $1 to get out, resulting in cars being backed up three levels on the ramps. I hope Evanston returns to the former system where parking for less than an hour was free on Saturday mornings (and so won't have to spend more time in my car waiting to get out than I spent shopping at the market).

Yelp
I love the huge variety of things that you can get at this farmers market. Raclette, breads, donuts, pies, produce, pickles veggies, plants, herbs, you name it. My two favorites on a recent visit were Phoenix Bean, who had multiple really delicious marinated fried tofu, and Dulce Caramel Co , with tender alfajores and a huge variety of handmade caramels.

Yelp
I discovered that the price here is more expensive than supermarkets...even though the quality didn't seem to be better, with the exception of flowers.

Yelp
Easy to locate, super convenient garage parking if street is unavailable. Tip - first hour or two in the garage is free. Nice mix of vendors, honey, cheese, meat, veges, fruits, eggs, herbs, baked goods, etc. The day we were there we scored some really nice asparagus. Some simple live music working for tips adds a nice touch. People watching and the spirit of youth is all around you. Plenty of shop and dine nearby if needed. Tip - not that I witnessed in the farmers market itself, but around the rest of Evanston lots of panhandlers. To the point where they will even walk up to you at a table in a restaurant while you are eating - unsavory.

Yelp
Evanston's farmers market has a spectacular selection of food. They have fresh vegetables and fruits to yummy ginger beer and my favorite carrot cake ever. It is a wonderful opportunity to support farmers from around the Midwest. There is also great music on a weekly basis. If you live in Evanston or the surrounding area, make this an early Saturday morning tradition. Some items tend to sell out fast!

Yelp
The first hurdle a farmers' market must overcome is accessibility. You could have the freshest, most organic, orgasmic, local, life-changing produce in the galaxy, but if you're asking me to come Mon-Fri, before 7.30pm, ain't happening! How am I supposed to afford locally grown produce if I sacrifice business hours to do so? Evanston, premier suburb that it is, doesn't force the conscientious consumer to sacrifice productivity for the sake of buying from indy farmers. Opening at 7.30a on a Sat is the way to go. Get going on time, you're out by 8.15a. The boozy brunch places haven't even opened yet for god's sake. I have no choice but to run or workout or something non-detrimental to my health. As far as vendors, they have Phoenix Bean, aka Jenny's, Tofu. In all honesty, nuff said. But there's more. They have several hot food options (amazing kale burger, organic taco place, others) to nosh on while perusing. The vendors are stocked w/ staff that knows their shit and enjoy engaging w/ the inquisitive clientele. I'm not hard-core to the point of trying to turn arugula, rhubarb and chicory into the greatest meal ever. I stick to poblanos and other chili peppers, maybe some onions too, that I can use to make Mexican food. Unless you've rejected capitalism and have weekdays off (in which case all power to you), you won't find a better farmers' market.

Yelp
Going to the Evanston farmers market was the highlight of my Saturday mornings. The market is in a great space with lots of nearby parking. The fruits and vegetables all look great and taste just as hood. Usually when I go I buy peaches and peppers. There's also lots of stands for local businesses which is awesome - eating elotes while you browse through the market? Yes please!

Yelp
First off, kudos to EFM for putting on a winter version. I'm happy that it's there; however, for me, it's not a must-attend like the summer version is. In short, it's pretty small. Understandably, there is not much space at the Ecology Center, nor much fresh produce in the depths of January. I believe there was one vendor with apples and pears, one with potatoes and such, and of course River Valley with their ubiquitous mushrooms. Otherwise, this is really a crafts and specialty foods market: perhaps about a dozen vendors hawking all sorts of artisanal snacks such as jerky, salsa, gluten-free cookies, granola, and quickbreads (Treasure Breads--delicious). Plus one table of jewelry. This is all from memory, so I apologize for what I forgot. But that gives you the scale and flavor. Check it out to tide you over until the big market opens in May. It may or may not scratch your mid-winter market itch, but it's worth a look.

Yelp
Of all the farmers markets I've visited in Chicago and other suburbs, the one in Evanston is hands down my favorite. They have a wide selection of all sorts of seasonal fruits and vegetables including organic. Having enjoyed fresh, locally grown produce from here all summer long, it's hard to go back to the regular stuff at supermarkets and even Whole Foods which now seem tasteless by comparison. Prices vary from one vendor to another. Some stalls can be a little expensive but there are also several with very reasonable priced ones, about the same or even cheaper than grocery stores. Make sure you survey the entire market because many vendors are the selling the same produce at different prices. In addition to fruits and veggies, many stands sell fresh flowers, artisanal cheeses, breads, baked goods, and specialty items like balasamic vinegars. There are street food vendors too selling things like tamales and crepes. Other useful information to know: The market is cash only. Easily accessible via the Purple line and there is parking lot nearby for those driving. It can get a little crowded later on so come early.

Yelp
Coming from the Dallas Farmer's Market where I once got 10 avocados for a dollar, I was prepared to be disappointed. Happily, I wasn't. The produce was less expensive than the store and there were lots of local options. (5 bell peppers for a $1!) I'm not huge into organic, but they had it. I really just go for the produce but it would also be a nice spot to bring kids or friends and grab a bite to eat. There's a few little prepared food spots, but they're much more expensive. If you're on a budget, stick to the less processed stuff. Pro tip: wear sunscreen! I thought we'd just be there a few minutes. 30 minutes later +my lack of melanin, I was burnt!

Yelp
Been coming forever. Wonderful way to spend an early Saturday morning. Terrific farmer's/staff. Food demos. Artwork. Ample parking. Fresh, fast, convenient.

Yelp
This farmers market is huuuuuge! The variety of options are amazing, some places better than others! It's more produce heavy than most I've been to which is great! There was a stall in the back that sold 10 zucchinis for $1. I must be in heaven! Located right next to the public parking lot downtown, it's conveniently located. In case you're hungry there are a few vendors that sell ready to eat food like empanadas and salads. Good place to buy fresh produce at reasonable prices! Also great to just stroll around and admire at bustling produce lovers!

Yelp
Tomatoes and Berries and Corn, Oh My! All that and a whole lot more! I came to the Farmer's Market to get some fruits to bring as a snack to the beach. I read its reviews and knew there would be lots more than fruits available. I didn't get any fruits, but ended up having a nice lunch and browsing the stalls. I'll be back here for sure and here's why. *Lots of fresh produce. some of the stalls carry the same thing, but sample when they offer, that might make a difference when you're ready to buy. *Spacious. Lots of room for browsing without feeling claustrophobic, totally wheelchair and stroller accessible. *Kid Friendly. I was so surprised to see small tables and chairs for the little ones to sit. There were also coloring pages offered and a huge bin of crayons. And sidewalk chalk! Oh my sidekick had so much fun with the sidewalk chalk. I don't know if that's the norm, but I totally appreciated a fun diversion for him. *Food stalls like crepes and tacos. The crepes stand is a favorite of mine--I think they were at another Farmer's Market I visited in Portage Park last year. I also spied elotes from another stall but I was too full from the crepes to try one. I spied smoothies and coffee, fresh baked items from Bennison's. You could really have breakfast AND lunch here! A fun way to spend some time before checking out other things Evanston has to offer.

Yelp
The Evanston Farmer's Market is one of my favorites in Chicago, despite its location in Evanston. There are so many good things about this market: 1. Relative to the other markets in Chicagoland, it is HUGE 2. There is parking. Lots of parking. 3. A few of the farms here don't go to other markets in the city - so you are getting something special when you come here. Minuses: 1. Some of the musicians are godawful 2. Prices are high relative to markets in other states like California (but come on, we're in Illinois...2000 miles from California. Like it or not, you're stuck here, fella). 3. Evanston people can be incredibly rude, especially when racing for the specialty produce in one of the organic booths (cough cough) Some folks like to complain that our farmer's markets are nothing compared to those in California. True, they are smaller and don't have as much to choose from. Illinois may not be the nation's garden, but during the months that the market is open, the produce is lovely, tasty, and abundant. We don't have the climate for everything you can find in CA, but what we do have is delicious for five months of the year.

Yelp
There are very few things that drag me out of bed at 7am. Seriously. I'm rarely conscious before 10am (it used to be 2pm - baby steps!) The Evanston Farmers' Market is a special place though. Usually on Friday, I see Seedling Farms tweet about what delicious fruits they will be bringing to market and spend that evening, tossing and turning in my sleep - Will I wake up in time? Will there be any WILD strawberries left? How much longer will strawberry season last? (Isn't my life so exciting?) (I dig manage to buy some WILD FRAMBOISE - $7/pint but so worth it!) Anyway, this market has a Seedling Farms stand and much, much more! - Bring knives and get them sharpened. - Treat yourself to a stellar iced coffee or latte (...from a place that begins with P - Puerto Rico? Peru? I don't know.. it was early) - BENNISON'S BAKERY (I live down the street from the storefront. I love these guys) - Great Harvest Bread Co! (They are further away, and I love being able to buy apple scrapple and their popeye loaf at the market) - Produce, produce, produce! (Fruits galore, many many greens - I spotted shiso leaves last visit!) - Farm Fresh Eggs - Grass Fed Beef - Cheeeese, glorious cheese. - The Stover's guy sells the best things in jars - jams, salsa... the bread and butter pickles are divine. - Plants and flowers (hint: I really like peonies. Buy me some!) Tips: - Come early. - EFM is located right next to a parking lot. Life couldn't be easier. - Cash is king. - Make sure to browse the entire market and shop around. Many stands sell the same things, so taste and price compare. - Make friends with your vendors! - Say hello to the Yelp sunglasses wearing girl drinking iced coffee while juggling a half flat of fruit (that'd be me!)

Yelp
The Evanston Winter Farmers market is from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. every Saturday from December 1, 2012 through April 27, 2013. At least for 2013. They run every year. For those of you that love the Evanston summer market, guess what? this is where they are the rest of the year. A lot of the bigger CSAs like ake breeze organics, that awesome tomato lady, the mushroom people, the crepe guy, the empanada lady, the knife sharpening folks, etc all tend to come here every Saturday rain or shine when the summer market takes a break. Yep, you can get your awesome fill of great winter vegetables, soups, and other products almost year round. Did I mention the Empanadas - $3, and the Tamales $3 or 2 for $5? They are awesome. Do you Ingress? Also come here. Keep in mind that as this is a winter market the selection is a little more limited, but you can definitely get your fill of awesome products all the time. This needs to be checked out more often whenever possible, as it will make anyone whether they've been to farmer's markets before or not pretty happy. It sure beats the Glenwood Sunday market, in my opinion.

Yelp
I'm going to say that for vendors and quality of produce this market gets a 5! But beyond that it gets a 1 star. Ok first no dogs. Second there is security all over taking away from the whole farmers market feel. Also they need a bigger space it is way to compact. Since there are NO dogs allowed I will not go back!
google avatar

Sally W.

Yelp
I just went there, early June, and they had tomatoes. This should be enough said, but just to clarify: there is NO WAY that tomatoes are harvest-able(not listed as hothouse or anything) in Michigan now. These were supermarket tomatoes, straight up: round, pink, supermarket tomatoes, and lots of stalls had them. All you should see in early June is like lettuce - but these guys have peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, green beans - all the stuff you get in deep August. So: if the tomatoes are a scam, and everyone's in on it, what else? $5 for four potatoes, for one; $8 for a pint of strawberries, and so on. Lettuce is good. Cute atmosphere for very well-heeled hippies and their long-locked children. Vendors are great at making you feel like a foodie; you'll come out $60 lighter.

Yelp
I officially eat more produce than anyone I know. Seriously, I'm not a vegetarian, actually quite carnivorous, but I own like 10 vegetarian cook books because I'm always looking to find new ways to prepare veggies and fruits. I thank the Borders clearance section...for some reason its always packed with cook books. I normally hit the little farmers markets near me on the weekends and last weekend I decided, after reading these reviews, to try the Evanston market. So, last sunday I hop in the car and head over there. I get there and "Where the fuck is it???" I ask myself. Well, apparently I didn't read well enough because its only there on Saturdays. OOPS. So this weekend I am destined to get there. So this Saturday I hop in the car (sound familiar) and hed over there. I drive around and find it. I didn't have to park too far at all and besides, there is a parking garage if you need. WOOO HOOO!!!! Score....I'm in produce Shang-ru-la! There is a quite a selection and a good amount of vendors. Farmers market produce is always amazing. Its always a good idea to cruise the market first and check out the selection and pricing. Often times there will be a difference in price and no one is looking to purposely overpay for their produce. I leave the market with some drip-down-your-face Michigan peaches, a bushel of fresh basil, some purple and orange carrots, some super sweet thin-skinned tomatoes, green peppers, white egg plants, swiss chard, zucchinnis, cucumbers (one that was a little organge ball shape that I've never seen before) and a yerning desire to head back there next Saturday morning. They had one fresh bread vendor, one meat vendor and one cheese vendor. I would have liked to see more, but hey...I don't eat cheese, I work for a meat company so don't need to buy it, and I don't buy much bread or pastry, so I'm not sure what I'm complaining about. One vendor did have fresh eggs, But I forgot to grab some on my way out. Oh...and the flowers were fabulous. I also noticed a venedor with baked goods from a church and another for some children's organization. Shame on me for not paying more attention to these NFP organizations, but I was on a veggie mission and couldn't eat their baked goods anyway. Bottom line: if you love produce and fresh air markets, you wil not be sorry visting the Evanston Farmers market. Just don't go on Sundays, you'll be the only one there.

Yelp
This is a quaint little farmers market. I don't know what to say except to throw some shout outs to my favorite booths. Holler at the place that sells adorable mini orchids at $15 for one or $25 for two. Awesome Mexican stand with Tamales and tacos. Another place has empanadas which hello, yes please? And I can't forget the smoothie stop where they serve blueberry, strawberry, or mix with cider made with honey crisp apples and blended with ice in a vitamix. The only thing is the dude spilled the smoothie all over the cup when he tried to pour it out of the blender. Come on, butter fingers! :p

Yelp
People you want to know something horrible about me? I actually HATE Evanston. Seriously I do & when I tell people that, I get truly awful looks from my friends who adore it. I have no idea why, sure it is pretty & such, but ick--it is the burbs! BUT, every Saturday morning, I put my personal feelings aside & attend their weekly farmers market. Why? you ask, well the answer is simple--BECAUSE IT IS FRICKING FANTASTIC. Yup, I swallow down my city pride & head up here to partake in the greatness of this market. This season while we have had some cold weather, the market has been warm & inviting. Another huge plus, is that they have parking in a garage--holla! This is my go to market & it gets my highest recommendation.

Yelp
This is probably the best farmer's market I've been to. The selection is amazing, and the people are so nice. When I was here, they also have live music. My favorite things to get at farmer's markets: -- spinach -- kale -- tomatoes -- green onions -- fresh spices (like basil, mint, etc) -- radishes I can't wait for cherries.
google avatar

Kamilah S.

Yelp
This farmers market was great. Lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, friendly staff. I will definitely be back
google avatar

Dee W.

Yelp
I think that I'm in love and so happy that I moved to Evanston - it makes me almost not miss living in the city anymore. The fruit was so fresh that I couldn't resist eating them as soon as I bought them. The spinach was another fresh item that I couldn't wait to go home and start making food with it (spinach quiche, spinach/feta cheese omelettes, etc) I'm definately coming back soon!
google avatar

Jennifer N.

Yelp
As glorious as a farmers market can be -- there's produce of all varieties, flowers galore, cupcakes, crepes, tamales, pumpkins (at least in October), free parking, and chairs and tables for sampling your purchases. There are more than enough opportunities for impulse purchases (how I ended up with basil pickled mushrooms, I don't know) which I guess is a testament to just how much variety is here.
google avatar

Jason D.

Yelp
Best farmers market in the Chicagoland area! Great food - tamales, elotes, crepes and lots of great baked goods from Sweety Pies in Skokie to Bennison's donuts from Evanston! Organic and locally grown produce that while yes it's more than you pay in grocery stores, I'd rather know where my food came from and pay the extra to feel secure it's not a GMO product grown in Mexico then covered in wax and shipped here. Great meat vendors with grass fed nitrate free meats and allsprts of eggs from duck to quail to chickens! The most variety of apples I've ever seen can be found at Nicol's Farm, they also have rare items like salsify and fresh mushrooms harvested from the woods (chicken of the woods, hen of the woods, etc), they also have a few varieties of gigantic sweet potatoes!! This is an awesome way to start any Saturday with a fresh cup of Intelligentsia coffee from Sweety Pies with a scone or croissant or crepe!!

Yelp
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my farmer's market in Evanston... plenty of produce, much of it organic... and even the farms who are not 'certified' often use minimal to no chemical pesticides. It is worth talking with the farmers and understanding their methods... many of them cannot afford the process of becoming certified. Vegetables, fruits, berries and flowers... not to mention there are often local artists playing their instruments and singing... and several times a year the market hosts 'art show' where I've purchased several 'must have' one-of-a-kind pieces. The garage parking is great because #1 you ALWAYS get the 1st hour free, and #2 the farmer's market validates parking! (The market is located behind the Hilton Garden Inn on Maple, adjacent to the parking garage.) Here's to another succulent, health*filled, & delicious summer!

Yelp
Nice market with lots of good local selections. Great for lunch as well. Good for kids. Lots to taste from.

Yelp
Really nice farmers market. There are so many stands selling fresh fruits, veggies, eggs, meat, flowers, honey, olive oil, baked goods, and more. There is validated parking for the parking garage next door. More expensive than MN markets (where I'm from).
google avatar

Tommy J.

Yelp
The Evanston farmer's market is overrated. It's pricey and the food is not local - don't be deceived. The vast majority of it is trucked in from Michigan, which to me seems to defeat the purpose of buying local. I guess if you want to buy produce it makes sense, but overall it's kind of just like buying corporate. I've been a couple times and basically left disappointed every time.
google avatar

Eugene F.

Yelp
Over 50+ vendors and an amazing selection. I personally love getting the duck eggs here, fresh peas (if they have them) and cherries. All the vendors are super nice and let you try all the produce. There is even a knife sharpener vendor and some even take credit cards. I will say though that this place is pricey! It doesn't seem like a lot at first but $60 goes by quick! I am willing to pay more for the fresher ingredients. Really love the atmosphere, the variety of vendors (from cheese to cherries to scones), and also the free 1 hour parking in the lot.

Yelp
This isn't my regular farmer's market, but I love to go here when visiting family. I think this market is notable for its astounding variety of interesting produce: ground cherries, wild plums, Asian braising greens, purslane, sour cherries, and wonderfully colorful heirloom tomatoes. I've found some really interesting foods here. The selection of greens is particularly good. I also love the musicians tucked in between the produce stands. The blind spots? Evanston isn't exactly farming country, so things so have to be driven in from relatively far away. That means that they do not have a good selection of fruits that are very delicate when ripe like peaches or blackberries. Animal products are also scarce- the cheese, while good, is tightly packaged, and the meat is only notable for being relatively local, otherwise it's the same grain fed beef you find at Outback.

Yelp
By far one of my favorite farmers markets in the Chicagoland area. I truly feel like I can do 95% of my weekly shopping here. Great produce, baked goods, and other prepared foods. We always get fresh local produce, meat, eggs, juice (city press!!!), and a few other fun finds every time we visit. Then we end our market day with amazing crepes. Such a great way to spend summer mornings.

Yelp
Okay, I changed my mind. This farmer's market is an asset to Evanston, and such a nice alternative to dragging yourself to Jewel or Whole Foods. It's refreshing to get to handle the produce yourself and know that it actually came from the ground not so far away. Definitely love the vendor (Nichols Farm) with like 20 bins of different apple varieties, all at $2/lb. Today I found the greenest napa cabbage I've ever seen. I also bought string beans and daikon that make the supermarket's look diseased. To boot, there are kiosks everywhere with community organizations and the like, and everyone is always just SMILING! Any Saturday morning I come here is always a pleasant one. I'm going to be sad post-Halloween when the space is filled with cars again. Still miss NY's and hate the hours, though.

Yelp
Lots of vendors, so the selection is great. The Mexican and crepe stands are where it's at. It's a fairly large market, probably the biggest in the burbs, but parking is a challenge.

Yelp
Great place. Fresh produces. I found Organic cage free eggs. Lots of fresh greens even flowers there. I'll comeback for sure.

Yelp
Pros: - Good selection, fresh stuff - Nice samples - Unlimited zucchinis over the summer. Basically there's this one stand that lets you stuff all the zucchinis you can fit in a plastic bag for $5, which is like 20 zucchinis. And then you go home and make zucchini everything - stir fry, fritters, bread, pizza - until you're sick to death of zucchinis (until next summer). Cons: - Can be pricey, some of the stuff is more expensive than Whole Paycheck even :/ - Where is the kettle corn? Wah - Not open yearlong, which is understandable, but I wish they could just move to an indoor location or something.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I both lived in Madison, WI for 4 years while going to school up there and the farmers market around the Capitol is pretty legendary. That said, this is the best farmers' market we have been to outside of Madison. Very good produce and a good mix of other booths/tents (tamales, crepes, scones, smoothies, etc.). You can in fact find some very good deals here as well. At one place you get 10 items of any combination of zucchini (green and yellow), eggplant, and green bell peppers for $1. Very nice people for the most part. While I like the scones for the price ($3) the people at that booth have not been the friendliest. It is also much appreciated that they validate parking for the parking garage next to it. Well done!

Yelp
My Saturday mornings are filled with banjo music, little kids dancing around an accordion player, CHEESE SAMPLES, mini pumpkins (I got 3 for $1!), apple cider, RASPBERRY RHUBARB JAM, caramel apples, lettuces for my Russian tortoise, JUICY PEACHES, and other glorious delights. Love the Evanston Farmer's Market.

Yelp
As an Evanston resident, I feel lucky to be so close to this Saturday farmers market. My family looks forward to it every weekend! Its become a tradition to visit the market. There is a variety of great vendors that are warm and friendly. The orifice are fresh and in season, so there is always something new.

Yelp
I went to the Evanston outdoor farmers market and I enjoyed it a lot. They had pumpkins at the farmers market and I was able to pick one out and bring it home and now I have it inside of my house. I also looked at the fruits, and I saw that they have peaches, and they also have different types of breads such as croissants. They also have Wisconsin cow cheese at the farmers market. They have vegetables at the farmers market such as cabbage and leeks. They also have fresh Michigan peaches at the farmers market. They have tomatoes at the farmers market, and they also have mushrooms and radishes. I enjoyed going to the farmers market in Evanston and I had a good time picking out different vegetables and fruits that I can eat later in the day or bring home.

Yelp
Evanston has a lot of positives which make living here a treat, and the downtown Farmer's Market is one of the positives. There is a wonderful selection of fruits & vegetables to choose from, not to mention flowers, organic meat, poultry, and eggs, and some delicious empanadas. Parking in the Evanston city garage is free if you get in & out in under an hour.
