"The Evel Knievel Museum is relocating from Topeka, Kansas to Las Vegas with a collection that includes Knievel’s bikes, helmets, and Mack truck — and interactive exhibits like a virtual reality jump experience, an interactive challenge for jumping, and something called a “broken bones interactive” that uses the stunt performer’s actual X-rays." - Janna Karel

Added this stop at the last minute since we had extra time in town. Nice museum and had some good displays. Probably not someplace you’d want to stop unless at least one of your group has fond memories of growing up watching Evel. Overall we had a good time and my kids enjoyed it even though they had no idea what it was all about going in. I passed on my memories from my childhood so they could see what an icon he was. We were there about an hour and a half so it is overall a well done museum full of one of a kind memorabilia and a good place to stretch your legs if your passing through town.

Growing up as a preteen and teen in the 70’s, Evel was a larger than life daredevil. I remember watching the televised jumps, especially the terrifying Caesar’s Palace and Snake River Canyon jumps. And his interviews, he was always calm and cool. Afterwards we would go outside, get on our bikes and jump over homemade ramps and do wheelies. Unfortunately, the museum is being relocated to Las Vegas. I’m looking forward to revisiting it in its new location, I’m sure it will be bigger and better than ever!

This was a good experience. It wasn't to expensive and it had a lot of memorabilia. It had his motorcycles and his truck that have been refurbished. It started when he was a child and went through his death. It is all cataloged and talks about what he did and there was even videos of his jumps and wrecks. I liked how it really focused on him and not the rest of his family. It had some things from my childhood as in toys and even a Wheaties box. :-) It was also a beautiful buliding that it was in.

Google
The test sky cycle is on display here ( not the one Evel rode in) along with a bunch of other cool stuff . This is part of the EVEL KNIEVEL HAT TRICK which consists of also visiting his grave in Butte Montana and the jump site off of US Hwy 93 in Twin Falls Idaho. You must do this on a Harley Davidson and do all 3 stops on 1 trip .

Google
Glad I went before it moves to Las Vegas ! Lots of memories from when I was a kid. Well put together displays , videos and news clippings. Also bought the motorcycle action figure combo , glad I did.

Google
Very cool museum of my boyhood idol! Great exhibits, well done! A comprehensive collection of Evel and his life-long stunts and shows. A must see!

Google
This place is incredible! He was my childhood hero so I might be biased, but i absolutely loved it. The VR jump is well worth it and a complete trip! Very professionally curated museum on a legend in my generation! Go see it in Topeka before it heads to Vegas!!!! The guys working there are very cool as well!

Google
Great information about an American Legend. Saw both his jumps in Hutchinson Kansas at the State Fair and immediately went to building ramps and jumping our bicycles. Many bent rims n upset parents of the neighborhood kids

Yelp
This was an interesting look into the life of Robert "Evel" Knievel. It covers his childhood to his death. Many of the displays contain original items like his drawing of Man O'War, letters from fans, and letters he wrote for business. Many of the exhibits contain video of him and his jumps, along with the motorcycles, leathers that he wore, etc. It took us about 1.5 hours to go through. The staff at the entrance and exit were friendly. I took off one star because they'll be moving to Las Vegas.

John M.

Yelp
I will start by saying GET THERE WHILE IT'S STILL HERE. I want to thank the staff for a fantastic visit and we feel very lucky to see it in person as it will be permanently closing an moving to Vegas in November. We grew up with Evel in our lives and this place is just filled with so many cool memories....and so many things I didn't know about the life of a true daredevil....definitely a highlight of our cross country adventure.

Yelp
AMAZING! Thank you so much for reminding us how much joy Evel Knievel gave the world! This museum is for everyone!

Holly W.

Yelp
" WHO AM I GOING TO BUILD RAMPS FOR NOW?" If Evel Knieval inspired Hot Rod, Thank you! Fort some reason I felt I had to go to this museum. I even rearranged our vacation to make it happen because they were closed on Mondays! A little more than I wanted to spend for entry but it's the going rate for museums these days... Very visual museum. Bright and colorful photos. Each event he was doing a jump was featured with a video of the jump or attempt. Obviously tapes weren't as clear then so accept the quality for the time. My two year old was immersed in the videos! A decent amount of memorabilia such as bikes and outfits. I really enjoyed learning more about Evel from how he adapted his name to how he retired. The VR simulation is a few extra bucks. My whole family did it- I suggest it! Pretty cool to see what he would have seen. I liked it! Glad we did it.

Rhonda M.

Yelp
Wow such a great presentation of an icon. So much to learn and see. Glad we got to see it before it leaves to Vegas

James R.

Yelp
Jump Into the Footsteps of a Legend: The EK museum is one of the finest museums as we travel honoring a true American. You will not only see interpretive write ups & photos on Knievel, but you see the actual outfits, motorcycles, along with videos of each of his major jumps throughout his career. Within this museum is Evel's full "Big Red" semi-truck rig, famous outfits from television, helmets, the EK toy line and his famous can. You'll have the opportunity to climb on a motorcycle to recreate a virtual jump, and then enter the final room where you'll see the sky cycle that Evel attempted to jump the Snake River Canyon. We'll worth the trip, and well worth the memories!

Leslie S.

Yelp
Great place with a lot of material. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon there. This will be moving to Las Vegas so go sooner than later. The employees are very helpful and knowledgeable. Multiple restrooms are available as well as benches to sit if you need to rest. Bring your reading glasses!

Jim B.

Yelp
We'll done! This was one of the tops things to see in Topeka so we had to check it out. It's 2 floors of Evel Knievel (EK) memorabilia and history. There's a lot of plaque-like info displays and many screens playing short relevant video clips. There's also a theater playing small segments of EK related movies and shows. For an extra fee, there's at least 2 EK experience attractions one can do. They restored EK's famed truck/quarters and trailer that he rode in as did his ramps and motorcycles. This restoration was amazing. I'd say this is a must do museum.

Norma O.

Yelp
It was a nice museum. The staff was very friendly and answered questions. The museum is laid out very well. The items they have are very interesting to look at and read about.

Bruce K.

Yelp
Wasn't every kid pretending to be Evel Knievel as they rode their bike over jumps and ramps? I know I was, so I was very pleased to land here in Topeka where I had the opportunity to tour the museum today. So much memorabilia throughout. The actual leathers he wore, the bikes he rode and videos of the various jumps (successful and not) throughout his career. Even the famous rocket-bike that he used to jump the Snake River. The star of the show, of course, is the restored Big Red Mack truck that was how he toured the country. Interesting video to see it recovered from trashed condition and restored to its former glory. Very interesting to see Evel's chronological history as a showman interspersed with the videos and the memorabilia. There's no one like Evel Knievel for sure. As for the question everyone wants to know, why is this museum in Topeka? https://www.kansascity.com/sports/article213860159.html Well worth the time to stop here and the price of the admission. Yelp
This Museum is collated with the Topeka Harley Davidson. The entrance is at the bottom so you should park in the back. They have an interactive picture opportunity with an Evel Knievel mannequin that you can email to yourself. The museum is well organized and put together and chronically many Evel's famous jumps. There are tons of photos to take here. And there is a movie that you can watch on the second floor. You can see Evel's Big Red rig, ramps he used, replica outfits he used and replica motorcycles. I really enjoyed watching the videos of his jumps and see the memorabilia. They also have an interactive exhibit of Evel's injuries. For $5 additional you can experience the a 4D virtually reality Eval jump over some police cars. I did it and I really liked it. It was very realistic. I really felt like I was there doing the jump. My only gripe is that while waiting to get on the 4D ride I heard one of the employees engaged in a deep political conversation with an older couple that would have been inappropriate for any workplace. Even though they engaged him, I felt that he should have changed the topic. Like I said, the museum is well put together and if you are an Evel fan, motorcycle enthusiast, history buff, or aspiring daredevil, this is a must visit. I enjoyed my visit there and learned a lot about Evel.

Linda O.

Yelp
Wow!! This museum is so well done! Growing up during Evel Knievel era , it was a trip down memory road for me except it offered so much more! The museum outlines his life, the rise and fall. I took my grandson who had no idea who Evel was but left loving the daredevil! The simulation experience is a real bargain at $5 and I highly recommend. The workers within the museum are so knowledgeable and give personal insider perspectives. Next time I would pay the additional $5 for the guided tour. If you are near Topeka, this is a MUST do!

Daniela B.

Yelp
This museum is a gem that shows you all about this iconic character. And you have a Harley- Davidson right next to it to give the perfect wrap-up to your motorcycle experience! It's ticket prices are reasonable, and the staff is very friendly. There is plenty of parking space. And eating at the H-D restaurant is a must! I loved it all, specially the coleslaw. To me, a one-of-a kind museum where you can learn more about American pop culture.

Tara R.

Yelp
Wow. Quite the display. Had way more stuff than I expected and the place is clean and well maintained. Cool spot to visit if in Topeka.

Delbert F.

Yelp
A world-class museum of Evel artifacts! Every time id visit Topeka on business or pleasure, I'd always wonder why on earth this museum was here. Evel never lived here, drive here or jumped anything here, etc. And, then. I had to wonder about the $15/person admission price. But, we decided to make it a stop on our next trip to Topeka, and boy! Am I glad we did! We had a fantastic experience going through this museum. It takes about 90 minutes and explore's Evel's dynamic story from A-Z; all his jumps, His gutsy and shameless ways of self-promotion, his crashed (far fewer than his attempts), and his raw courage and determination. There's a LOT in this museum to see, learn and enjoy. There's a LOT of artifacts to see - his various motorcycles, his leathers and helmets used in various jumps. There's even a 4-D virtual jump experience where you can ride along on an actual jump another motorcycle daredevil made over 16 Topeka cop cars back in 2016. Even if you didn't grow up watching Evel's jumps on TV, you'll still enjoy this well-done museum. And, If you grew up watching Evel do his stunts and jumps (maybe even imitating Evel on your bicycle) this is a MUST-SEE place to visit. You won't regret it.

Steve P.

Yelp
Touring this museum brought back many memories of my younger years, and is just a fun experience. The virtual jump over Topeka's Kansas Avenue is a must!

Robert L.

Yelp
Worth the drive! Awesome display of Evel Knievel stuff! I grew up during the height of EK! I remember building ramps and taking my bike for jumps! Going to the museum brought back good memories! Museum is well designed and displayed highlights of EK life! Enjoyed the short movies of EK plus the truck restoration !! Also, enjoyed the Harley gift shop!

Mike G.

Yelp
What a fantastic museum! Only open for around a year, this is easily a few hours of jumping down memory lane for anyone who grew up watching Evel Knievel in the 60s or 70s. Really well done museum with highlights and video of his life, most famous jumps, and of course, crashes. Interesting, interactive exhibits, including a 4D thrill bike jump and display to examine all his broken bones and other injuries throughout his career. The museum is built around Evel's 63' completely restored semi and trailer, Big Red. There's also lots of bikes, cars, helmets, leathers, and one of the two rockets used for the launch over Snake River. An absolute must-stop for anyone in the Topeka area.

Sandy B.

Yelp
Visited the museum this past Saturday with husband and friends, it was great fun and informative. Sparking many memories for us all. The museum is very well put together with displays items such as motorcycles, leathers, pictures and videos All in a chronological way and with good description of each display area.

Cisko R.

Yelp
Great Museum Evel Knievel would be so proud the staff was great, me and my gf loved the Mac truck inside they did a great job restoring it! Would recommend!

Rodney H.

Yelp
With some downtime in Lawrence and looking for something to do, came across an ad for this museum. A museum for my first hero? The person I dressed up as for Halloween when I was 6? And it's less than a half-hour away!?!? Uh...plans made! I dragged along my daughter who's 17 and she found the "injury reports" with each display to be the most interesting. Or maybe it was the opportunity to make fun of my reactions to every motorcycle, outfit and video we stopped at. I was in full geek mode. It's small but packed full of everything you can think of related to Evel. I totally think the VR jump is worth the extra $5 and a must for visitors. We spent 45 minutes but I could have easily spent twice that if I was flying solo. If you're anywhere in the area, a great look at Americana and one of the most popular characters of the 70's. Nice they also give AAA and military discounts as well!

Ralphie S.

Yelp
For those of us that had a childhood during the '70's; Evel Knievel was "The Man". Nothing as exciting to know that he would be doing a jump on TV that upcoming weekend. This museum in Topeka brings back all those childhood memories with original artifacts and a well curated experience. I was a little leery about paying $20 admission but afterwards, I believe it was a bargain. Knowing how extensive the collection is and the painstaking effort they have put into this labor of love is truly outstanding. The gentleman that took our ticket spent 5 minutes telling us background stories about the ribbon cutting weekend and how the museum came about. His enthusiasm was infectious as we made our way through the 2 floors of exhibits. The "Big Red" truck and the Snake River Canyon rocket were amazing to see in person. The videos of all the jumps, looping on video screens were mesmerizing to watch. Topeka - you have created a very cool attraction!

Eric F.

Yelp
Our daughter had a soccer tournament in Topeka with an 8-hour break in between games. Cue the Evel Knievel Museum. Best $15 ever. The staff, especially the tour guide, were amazing and knowledgeable. A must see. Memories, man.

Julia R.

Yelp
Very nice place to spend an afternoon. Very friendly and helpful staff, very clean and interesting.

M. C.

Yelp
Super cool museum with surprising complete collection of everything authentic Evel Knievel! Definitely worth the trip!!

Charlie S.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Very detailed and in depth. The motorcycles are awesome to see the and amount of history is cool

Daniel J.

Yelp
What a FUN place!!! I was blown away by the sheer number of memorabilia this museum had to include Evel's motorcycles, helmets, video footage, and even his fully restored big rig truck he traveled in. Plus a few interactive exhibits. Lots of fun!!!! This will be on my list of places to take family/friends when they come to town. It's a first class museum for sure!!!

Rudi Q.

Yelp
A long overdue museum that is finally open! being a huge knievel fan i had big expectations, this place exceed them! blown away! his original bikes, leathers & helmets are all here! even the beautifully restored big red is on display. tons of memorabilia, documented history of all his jumps. this guy had an amazing career! museum admission is a bit high but i spent 3 hours here, and surly you can notice a lot of time and effort was put into the museum ( worth the admission) friendly staff. i applaud lathan mckay and the entire team for putting this soon-to-be legendary museum together, celebrating the greatest showman on two wheels.

Joe P.

Yelp
A unique museum dedicated to America's daredevil, his patriotism, bravery, showmanship, and tenacity. A destination -- not a chintzey roadside attraction -- for the whole busload or single riders. The facility is clean, large, and exactly what Mr. Knievel had on mind when he commissioned the concept in 1990. The collection is impressive: Bikes, of course, as well as leathers, canes, helmets, toys, and more. Features a painstakingly restored travel rig, tech-heavy virtual jump, detailed history, rare video footage, much fun. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, lots of stories in a guided tour and illustrative displays. Compare to Graceland with the oversized collars, the Caddies, sideburns, and the jewelry. Imagine Knievel saying to the King: "You call that a jumpsuit?"

Heather H.

Yelp
If you grew up in the 1970's, and even if you didn't but love pop culture this museum is a MUST SEE!! Pristine memorabilia includes Evel's Mack truck, videos, posters and jump suits from tons of daredevil jumps! Also don't miss the virtual reality jump filmed right here in downtown Topeka! What a thrill ride!!! The staff was great and very knowledgeable, Bruce showed me around although this is a self guided museum. Loved it!!!!

Kara F.

Yelp
A Great place to go to reminisce about the past, and take the kids and grandchildren to to learn a little actual Authentic American Harley Davidson History!

Donald L.

Yelp
This place is very educational, the things they have are off the hook. I enjoyed the virtual reality ride and jump, they have alot of photos from when he was a kid, also awsome facts. Anyone who is into this guy, I highly recommend this place.

Christine S.

Yelp
We were pleasantly surprised by this museum. Well done and not too big. Displays are informative and follow his timeline. We left feeling that we now know a lot more about this interesting man than we did before we visited.

Stan P.

Yelp
I went to the museum while on business travel to Topeka. I was expecting a hokey little Kansas museum. Boy, was I wrong! If you know who Evel Knievel is, you will enjoy this museum. The collection of bikes, suits, memorabilia and "Big Red" is great. Lots of details on his life and jumps, PLUS, BIG RED!! Make sure you watch the video on Big Red! Definitely ride the 4-D jump on the bike - VR goggles, headphones. I will go back and will tell my Kansas friends to go as well. Worth a visit.

Blane S.

Yelp
This is a must see if you grew up with Evel Knievel! So much history about him. You must pay the extra $5 for the jump! And what I mean about the jump is not that it is an extra $5, it is an experience in it self :) If you are a fan you can plan to spend at least 2 hours there.

Scott C.

Yelp
Well worth the visit! I was very impressed with how much memoribilia was there. I would highly recommend it to any old fans or motorcycle enthusiast.

R M.

Yelp
Unbelievable amount of Evel Knievel artifacts, motorcycles, his leathers, etc. Motorcycle jump with VR headset was awesome!!!

Sportster S.

Yelp
Absolutely, positively a MUST DO in Topeka, KS. Well, this and a trip to Bobo's Drive in but I digress. From Evel's Mack truck Hauler to the smallest souvenir buttons sold at jumps, thie is a comprehensive history of the great Evel Knievel. OH - Do the cyber jump while you're there and try NOT to counter-stear when you do. LOL. Awesome experience, we'll definitely be coming back during riding season. The dealer's collection next door is pretty rockin too but THIS is the cheese. Sportster.

Lisa W.

Yelp
Fun day! Whole family enjoyed. A blast from the past. Loved all of the memorabilia.

Leah B.

Yelp
A perfect experience from start to finish. A well thought out facility that you can tell was lovingly created. From the chron timeline to the merchandizing overview, everything was interestingly and expertly shared.

Scott H.

Yelp
This place is simply amazing. Growing up watching him, playing with is toys, this was a fun and educating experience. Take all the pictures you want and they honor military discounts. Parking is behind the building. We will be back next time visiting Kansas!

Joel S.

Yelp
This place is awesome and well worth the drive out from KC or wherever. Museum is well put together, has lots of cool stuff to see and do, and the staff is super friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. They did this place right. Don't miss it. You probably need at least 2 hours minimum at the museum. It's also co-located in a really cool HD dealership that is practically a museum itself, and a restaurant on site too.

Megan T.

Yelp
This is a rare hidden gem. Lots of interactive displays, movies, and of course the big red Mack truck. We sprung for the jump experience and it was well worth it! Staff were super friendly and loved telling us stories. I'm just afraid my husband will pop wheelies all the way home.

Adam S.

Yelp
This was a great family museum. We went with our school-age children. The exhibits included motor cycles on display, many videos, a refurbished touring truck, a skeleton showing his bone break locations, and his stunt rocket vehicle that he crashed. Some of the videos might not be suitable for very young eyes. They have a VR motorcycle jump simulator that you MUST do. Each of us did it and enjoyed. This is a must see stop in Topeka.

Dipdip D.

Yelp
I'm making a cross country drive and i saw the Evel Knievel museum on my map. As a lifelong fan i decided to roll the dice. They close at 6pm and my bro and I arrived in Topeka after 5:30 (you have to arrive 30 min before closing time). We stared through the window defeated when an employee from the adjoining Harley dealership came around the corner and asked if we'd like to go in. Since they were closing down, he took us through a back door and introduced us to the tour guide who was very, very cool to us. Never treated us like he was trying to go home. Showed us around. Told stories. I expected the museum to have items and memorabilia which it did, of course. It also has WAY more! It was way more hi-tech than I expected. Lots of interactive displays that were fascinating and fun. You can plan and execute a jump on a giant video screen. There is a giant x-ray map of Evel's astounding number of broken bones. You can zoom in on a break and the screen gives the option to watch the video of the jump where the break happened. Total fun (maybe not for Evel). The coolest part was the VR jump. You sit on a motorcycle parked atop one of Evel's actual landing ramps that saw action. Put on a VR helmet with headphones and and virtually take a big jump on a motorcycle. It was so realistic i almost fell off the bike trying to lean around corners. When it was all over me and my bro and the tour guide all left together enjoying a chat. The museum far exceeded my expectations. The staff was beyond cool. I highly recommend this stop for fans and uninitiated alike.
