"Chicken fried steak is the Oklahoma dish, and there’s two places you have to go to to get it. One is Evelyn’s, and they have great catfish as well." - Monica Burton

This is our second visit. The food was even better this time than the last visit. Today’s meal was Chicken Fried chicken with the sides of Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Mac and Cheese, Greens, Okra and Tomatoes, and Cabbage. The okra and tomatoes were perfect, the seasoning was just right. Greens can be a little bitter and a littler boring, not so for theirs. Again, perfect seasoning and wonderful flavor. I normally don’t order mac and cheese, but I just had to try it. Rich! Creamy! Cheesy! I didn’t try the cabbage or the mashed potatoes, but my wife reported them to be perfect also. The chicken fried chicken was large, perfectly battered and fried to a flawless golden brown! It was covered with homemade cream gravy. I continue to offer this advice from my previous review. If you are short on time, this is probably not your place. It is packed at lunch time, and the pace of the servers is a little laid back. If you do go, try to get a table as close to the kitchen as possible, to save you server a long walk. The service here is average. Homemade taste, Delicious Soul Food.

Evelyn’s Soul Food cuisine is located near the Tulsa airport and it’s not that particular easy to fine. I can say that their fried chicken dinner was about the best I’ve had anywhere. The chicken was from cooked to order, piping hot and seasoned perfectly. it was accompanied by collard greens and black-eyed peas. It is a bit remote for public restaurant, and it can take a while when they’re busy to take your order and to serve it but if you have the patience, I think you’ll find the wait well worth it.

Best home style food in Tulsa! Only open daily until 3 pm though. Quiet family dining. Wonderful service. Near Tulsa International Airport. Great cobler... save room, you won't regret it.

Not Evelyn's anymore. Now is Wanda's. Let's start with the place itself. It's old and very outdated. Pieces of broken carpet and just not a clean look. If you need to use a toilet, you need to go outside and 5 doors down there is one. Now the food, I really wanted to like this place, and considering all the good reviews I thought I would. Not that I really disliked the food, but there wasn't anything fresh. Everything tasted as it was either canned or frozen, and I was expecting more. The one thing that I actually DIDN'T like was the Mac and Cheese. It was a somewhat salty watered down "sauce" that it was just terrible

We followed the Google directions to Evelyn's, but when we got there (at the airport) it was Wanda J's. It was WONDERFUL! We are still talking about it two weeks later. The special was fried chicken, and we all ordered it. Very friendly place, the cook came out and joked with us about all that food and "swimsuit season." He said they only use fresh, never frozen chicken, and they order the small, tender size. Those of us "of a certain age" remember how much smaller "fryers" used to be and that what is now called a fryer used to be a baking chicken. Anyway, we wish we lived closer as it was worth the trip to Tulsa. Ms. Wanda came in before we left and stopped to say "Hi."

This is my first time at Evelyn’s and oh my goodness they’re amazing!! I had the fried catfish with corn and macaroni and cheese. Boy that food had so much flavor! My date had the friend chicken with smothered cabbage and macaroni and cheese. Each meal came with a bread choice, cornbread or a roll. Both were tasty! We also had sweet tea and unsweetened tea. I’ll definitely be going back sometime!

I drove over 950 miles to return to this restaurant. Sure, I had business in town, but still...;) I fell in love when I first visited in 2018, and looked forward to returning. I wish I could have stayed long enough to experience their entire menu. This is good food prepared and served by good people in one of my favorite locations... an airport. Doesn't get much better than that. (P.S I hope one of the people there read this review. I promised them I'd leave it... and I want them to know I kept my promise. They deserve it!)

Yum! Best fried chicken I've had in years! The green beans and fried potatoes were pretty good too! Great yeast rolls too
