New restaurants to try in Denver right now | Eater Denver

"A neighborhood bakery-cafe focused on pastries, breads, and light breakfast and lunch fare, highlighted by a lineup of specialty toasts—avocado, radish, peanut butter, cinnamon, and tomato—priced around $3 to $4.50. Sandwiches ranging from BLT and turkey to egg and chicken salad, as well as charcuterie boards, round out the menu, creating a relaxed spot for morning pastries or a simple midday meal." - Susan Stapleton

Stopped here for lunch today. Only my second time here. I ordered the Bacon, Turkey & Brie sandwich on sour dough. Yummy sandwich. I wish the bacon was crispy but outside of that everything else was awesome. I also offered a sour dough loaf to go. They slice it for you and it’s reasonably priced. Service is friendly and you feel like they appreciate you as a customer. I’ll be coming back here more often for when I want a great sandwich.

Google
We visited for a late breakfast, right before the church crowd and had pretty quick service and good suggestions from the staff at the counter. My grilled cheese was amazing - going to try and duplicate at home. Husbands burrito wasn’t his favorite just so so. He should have taken the suggestion of the breakfast sandwich 😊. Chai tea was yummy with cold foam and the dirty chai was good as well.

I came here for breakfast after recommendation from a local. The food was AMAZING, the atmosphere is inviting and relaxed. I got the applewood bacon alpine breakfast sandwich, blueberry lemon danish, and iced vanilla lavender latte. There is space for pups to hang out outside on the balcony area, but you do go inside to order. I will definitely be back and highly recommend!

Google
Great food, great service and a great atmosphere! I’ve never had a bad dish at Evergreen Bread Lounge. The line moves quickly and the food is hot and fresh when delivered to your table. Excellent spot, highly recommend.

Google
Five stars all around for this hidden gem in a strip mall! Food and baked goods were delicious. Coffee was great. Would drive up from Lakewood to eat here again any time.

Google
Found this place after a hike in Elk Meadow Park, and I'm so glad I did! Highly recommend stopping in for a bite if you're in the area. The food was amazing. The bread was so soft and fresh and the flavors were perfect. The chai latte was among the best chai's I've had. The customer service was friendly and fast--thanks, Lisa!

Google
5 years later - this place is still fantastic!! Only opportunity for improvement - the young lady who brought out our fancy $ food and snacks had a short fuse for placement of our order number table flag. Assuming she's going through something and extended grace, but later when bussing our table, still quite frumpy. Everything else is still spot on. I went for the French dip... Yum! Spendy, but wonderfully tasty. The monkey bread was different than I've ever had it before, but definitely in a good way. Coffee was really good, and customer service superb. Assuredly a happy customer!

Google
Lisa and Tyler are two of the kindest team members I’ve met on their management team! This restaurant has fresh pastries and some of the best sourdough bread I’ve ever had. I had their grilled cheese chorizo sandwich the other day for lunch and it was delicious as well. Thank you for creating such a wonderful atmosphere, truly connecting with your customers, and serving such tasty food! I can’t wait to keep sharing your business with my friends - looking forward to dropping by again soon.

Yelp
I'm mister Heat Miser.... Well I want to be because that's the name of the sandwich that you should get. Basically a glorified French Dip sandwich but wow, just full of flavor. Yes it's a little messy but who cares, it was so so good. And it was plenty big enough to share and they'll give you an extra au jus too! Anyways this place is totally worth the stop in a fast casual concept. We also got a pumpkin chip cookie that was good too. It's a nice interior and friendly service. Loved this place.

Yelp
We had breakfast here before walking around Evergreen Lake. It was a solid choice! We ordered the breakfast burrito with chorizo and green chili and the tomato & chorizo grilled cheese with tomato soup. The grilled cheese even came with a side of potato chips. Portion sizes were generous and filling. The vibe is casual: you order and pay at the counter, food gets delivered to your table, and you bus afterward. Water and to-go containers are self-serve. Definitely low-frills, but the food hit the spot. Not too loud inside. I even saw a few people working on laptops. Great spot for families or groups. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back, but if I was in the area, I'd happily stop in again.

Yelp
It was a very enjoyable visit to Evergreen Bread. There's a nice selection of things to eat. I tried the avocado toast and it was very good. The coffee was excellent. There was plenty of space to sit and enjoy a meal and conversation. The staff was very gracious and the service was wonderful.

Yelp
Always enjoy the fresh bakery items, menu, good coffee and friendly staff. Classic peak weekend mornings place for leisurely breakfast. Today, however, a temporary sign on the cash register said "45 Minutes for Kitchen Items." 45 Minutes for a sandwich? No thanks. Kind of them, however, to give fair warning. Perhaps something odd went down, cook didn't show up etc. Otherwise, would be better to plan adequate staff for peak periods. We will be back because it's a nice place. If going on a Saturday morning, however, might call ahead so see how long the wait is for food
google avatar

Yelp
Not sure where to start. Maybe the odor when you walk in, which is heavenly. I stopped by ahead of the holidays for some sweet baked goods and the Stollen did not disappoint. Even those who turned up their noses as bread with dried fruit in it were singing its praises by the end. And the breakfast sandwich? Um, yes amazing. Perfectly cooked egg, flavorful cheese and then those potatoes that came along with--just the right amount of heat. I will be back!

Yelp
I was out for my Saturday AM MC breakfast ride, and wanted to try a new spot in the Evergreen, So I consulted with Yelp, of course that directed me here to the Evergreen Bread and cocktail lounge. Once I realized it was upstairs, I went in and waited in line. It's quite popular and well received ( busy), so it must be good! The way it works is You order and they give you a number and they deliver the food to your table. They were busy making bread right in front of us and they had numerous danishes and pastries that were obviously freshly made as well. I was tempted to get one and I probably should have, but I ordered the old standby smothered bacon burrito, and honestly I wasn't that impressed. When I order a smothered burrito, I expect that it will be slathering with green chili with melted cheese on top also. What I received was a sprinkling of cheese on the top and green chili on the side. Overall it was pretty good, but it just didn't blow my skirt up. If I'm in the area I will try it again and get something more bread like and I'm sure I will have a higher rating. Oh yeah, and by the way their coffee was great!

Yelp
The food was next level. This is everything you would want out of a mountain get away place. Straight out of a hallmark movie. There wasn't one thing that wasn't meticulously perfect. I got biscuits and gravy, which I was concerned would be missing out after seeing the pastry selection. I was wrong. Every element was flavorful and went together perfectly. Amazing. We still got pastries to go, because we couldn't pass them up. A taste of heaven for later. 10 out of 5 stars.
google avatar

Mike T.

Yelp
Awesome breakfast!! We had the chicken biscuit and it was HUGE!! The breads and pastries are all on point.
google avatar

Lisa O.

Yelp
That was delightful! Had brunch on a Saturday at 11, it was lively but we didn't have difficulty finding a place to sit. The baked good are top notch, and they had samples out which tickled my sweet tooth when I definitely had no more room to eat after the hearty breakfast. I got the avocado toast and added eggs and bacon, my hubs got the miners plate. Ample food, cooked perfectly, over the best sourdough. No notes!

Yelp
It's always so cool to find hidden gems like this one, so close to home. We took a quick drive into the mountains and headed to Evergreen Bread and Cocktails for brunch. It's always a good sign to see a line too. The staff were pretty fast with orders while laughing and taking good care of each group ordering. We didn't wait long at all and were seated by a window in no time. We both ordered cocktails and breakfast. We shared bites with each other and no one was disappointed. This was def comfort food - you know, the food you have when it's a 20% day (thinking about eating clean and healthy 80% of the time). I thoroughly enjoyed it. There is a reason for those lines. The place itself is super laid back, with a self serve area to grab water, condiments and such. They also have a wrap around patio that we'd love to enjoy when it's warmer. We'll be back. So good.
google avatar

Anna H.

Yelp
Yummy food and great views. Sat on the patio with my pup and enjoyed lunch. The kitchen forgot to put cheese on my sandwich but the woman at the counter got it fixed right away. They even have bottles of wine and day old bread specials. We got a few kinds of sourdough, and enjoyed looking at the cute shops all around after. They have their own parking lot too which is nice.
google avatar

Danielle L.

Yelp
My husband and I aren't the biggest breakfast people, but we absolutely devoured our breakfast sandwiches! They were so customizable and we loved all of the options they offered. Will return!

Chris M.

Yelp
Biscuits & Gravy is the BEST I have had, grilling the fresh biscuits gives an amazing texture and flavor. Seasoned potatoes, bacon-pickled onion garnish...chef's kiss. Friendly staff, clean, neat dining room. Add this to your must have list! Took a bite of the hash and it was excellent as well
google avatar

Yelp
When I visit from NC, a stop at the Evergreen Bread Lounge is a must. The sandwiches are incredible and the bread divine.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots for breakfast and lunch. Amazing food! Ordered lunch today and decided to have a glass of organic wine and was shocked it was so expensive. $17.40 for a glass of Chardonay! I spoke to the manager and he was extremely nice and explained that it is an 8 oz pour, but thier glasses are decieving. He proved it, poued it and gave me the glass - which was very generous and not expected. They have a great happy hour and I highly recommend going for adult beverages during this timeframe - but order wine by the bottle. They also have a great happy hour food menu and the stufffeed mushrooms are to die for! Charcuterie board is the bomb too...

Yelp
A fav for breakfast or lunch before heading out for a hike or just into the mountains. Delicious food, super friendly and helpful staff. Can't miss!
google avatar

Janet D.

Yelp
Two things!! The most amazing almond croissant! Loaded! I can't stop thinking about it! And the Stout 14 hour braised corned beef brisket, two eggs, balsamic onions, fire-roasted poblano peppers, horseradish parsley crema, and chives, served with breakfast potatoes and French country sourdough toast. This is something you must try at some point! Both these solidified my admiration for them. I want them in my life like forever! I was a fan before. But I wanna live here. ( if they will allow me): You haven't been? Go now!
google avatar

Yelp
We arrived after driving from Steamboat Springs to meet friends, finding we had 15 minutes until closing. They made us feel SO welcome!! They told us to order whatever we wanted and that we could stay there and eat. We had some tea, wine and bread. We ordered the Cheese Platter and 2 Ham and cheese croissants, which were delicious! It was the kindness of the staff as well as the delicious food that will bring us back.
google avatar

Amber D.

Yelp
The food here was absolutely amazing! We had the eggs benedict, breakfast sandwich and the monkey bread. All of their bread/dough is made in house and it was so tasty. They also had free samples of their sourdough to enjoy while we waited in line. The service was quick even on a busy weekend morning. They have plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. The vibe was cozy and the patio is dog friendly and had a water bowl!
google avatar

Gracie J.

Yelp
went here for breakfast and lunch while we were in town for a wedding. Great options for both meals. amazing baked goods. Their online pick up was extremely helpful on our way back from a hike during a busy day
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
Cute spot with flavorful and filling food, kind and friendly service, and pleasant dining dynamic. I stopped here for a latte and avocado toast after a 6mi hike and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. It was very popular with a 10-15min wait in line on a Sunday, but worth it. 10/10 would recommend if you're in Evergreen!
google avatar

Yelp
I think this place is relatively new to Evergreen. It's on the second floor of the plaza it's in but not difficult to find. The food is delicious. I'll just start there. I ordered the spicy Italian which is my standard order at any deli or sandwich shop I go to. They asked what kind of bread I wanted, and I said baguette as if I would get it on ciabatta. I thought it was a very good Italian sub, but it was definitely not spicy. There was a steady stream of customers that came through. I'd say about half stayed to eat and half got food to go. Everyone else in my party got grilled cheeses. Those also looked amazing. The breads behind the counter all looked great and I'm sure we will get some at some point. The coffees look to be predominantly self serve, so if you order a cinnamon coffee, you get to put the cinnamon in yourself. Also, reusable silverware is at the end of the bar. It's the same place the disposable silverware is as well. We weren't told that so I looked like a fool when I asked where I could get some. There are a couple of various oils and charcuterie paraphernalia for sale there as well. Lastly, the bread lounge is great for people watching! Go eat there and watch your neighbors! Maybe we'll see you there!

Yelp
What a great find! We loved our food down to the very last bite. I'd drive from texas where I live to eat here again.
google avatar

Courtland M.

Yelp
If you like great bread and sandwiches, come here! Great variety to choose from. Loved the outdoor seating where you can see beautiful views of the mountains. Definitely recommend if you are in Evergreen!
google avatar

Phil G.

Yelp
I like this place quite a lot. It has great atmosphere, friendly service, solid menu and the food is prepared nicely. It's family friendly and also has a few beer taps and cocktails for the afternoon / evening.
google avatar

Julia L.

Yelp
I was visiting from out of state and found this gem for dinner. It was a Saturday evening and hardly anyone was there, which was surprising! I had their variation of the French 75 & the Happy Hour charcuterie (yes, happy hour on Saturday!) Both were delicious and I would love to visit again to try other items on the menu. The outdoor seating with mountain views was icing on the cake.
google avatar

Alisa J.

Yelp
Such a cute shop that's actually more of a restaurant where you order at the counter rather than a straight up bakery. I loved the rhubarb and strawberry danish it was so so good. We also had the white chocolate pistachio cinnamon roll type thing. That was decent but the main star was the danish. They also sell gourmet goods like butter and spreads in their fridge that looked so good and I have to go back and buy some sometime.

Jon T.

Yelp
Ever had a French dip? Was it good? Likely it wasn't. Here's why. Most places that have this tried-and-true menu feature consider it filler, often constructed with an ancient hoagie roll and old steak either procured from Cisco or trimmed off of the most senior haunch of beef still lurking in the back of the walk-in cooler. EBCL uses delicious homemade bread and exceptional cuts of steak to make their version, elevating it from the sandwich you order when nothing else looks good and might work if you lose the bread to the kind of lunch you can look forward to. They have so many other breakfast, lunch, and dinner choices, as well. Even the oatmeal was delicious! Also, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the staff go out of their way to make sure their guests leave happy that they chose this (Slightly out of the way) spot to eat and hang. I took my ENTIRE family there last weekend after a memorial service for my dad. (They can be a tough crowd). Everyone enjoyed themselves. The Bloody Mary's were fantastic and the non-alcoholic selection was inspired. Thank you, EBCL! We will be back.

Yelp
Lucky find! We tried to go to Dandelions, but they are shutdown and a nice local gentleman that was getting coffee next door strongly recommended the Bread Lounge. He said we wouldn't be disappointed, and he was right! Exceptionally nice wait staff, and very large selection of options. It took awhile, but the portions were large. I enjoyed the breakfast platter (although I was given some tough sausage rather than the bacon I ordered) and the wife really liked the French toast. The crispy sourdough toast was really good. It's in a strip center, but the simple outdoor seating gives decent mountain views.
google avatar

Ayatt A.

Yelp
Visited again and this time had the Turkey, Bacon & Brie sandwich and my mom had the veggie sandwich with pumpkin pesto. We also had a pastry. The food was totally delish!! We also had a Lavender oat latte. It tasted great but could have used a little more matcha for the $7.45 price. Overall, Bread Lounge is a must-try!

Yelp
Food: beautiful Service: Good Sandwiches are the best here. Will come back. Just so you know, costs are crazy expensive

Anna C.

Yelp
Fantastic tasty food and pastries that rival some of the best bakeries in Denver. I only wish their hours were longer so I could enjoy on weeknights!

Susie P.

Yelp
Consistently good - really like the food and the staff are so kind and helpful. We had 4 adults and a baby for brunch and even found a place to sit, but we were there at 10:30. The crowd came in at 11:00.
google avatar

Jarred F.

Yelp
Solid bakery with great fast casual food options. Love the bottomless coffee, clean comfortable seating and jolly atmosphere. I do wish the chicken biscuit sandwich had more than a little tenderloin on it. Seems a tad small of a portion for the price, to be honest.
google avatar

Matt C.

Yelp
This is exactly the type of place you want in a remote mountain town. Fresh baked breads, endless coffee on deck, an assortment of brunch items and even booze when it's later in the day. Indoor seating may be on hold, but there are spaced out tables outside if you brave the cold! We ended up coming here two days in a row for brunch. There aren't a ton of options in the area, which is why I personally think the overall star rating is a tad high for what it is. However, the baked goods are really good and what I recommend when coming here! First day ordered the Biscuits and Gravy. The biscuit itself was flaky and delicious. I expected more oomph from the gravy. It's hard to find real deal Southern food out here. The Cinnamon Toast is worth ordering as a starter. It sounds simple, but it stole the show for me. Our visit the following day was much better, so I'm really glad we went back! The Smothered Burrito was great, with warm yet mild heat from the Green Chile. The portion size was gargantuan, too. Don't skimp on the pastries. The Eggnog Scone, Apricot Danish and Kouign-Amann were stellar. Must orders! Cool spot in Evergreen on the second floor of a shopping plaza. Great views of the mountains if you decide to sit outside!
google avatar

Adam M.

Yelp
Lived up to the hype. Highly recommended. Croissant sandwich with egg and Swiss, avocado toast, and chocolate sourdough roll (first 2 pictured). All A+. Only comment is they should offer cheddar. Definitely go!

Steve H.

Yelp
Don't go here if you're in a hurry, 'cause NOBODY in this place seems to have a sense of urgency ! I went in for the first time today, based on looking at their menu online. There were a lot of things that I thought I'd like, so I gave them a try. First of all, it's one of those "Order Here" stand in line places (like a Subway). There were three people ahead of me in line. I got in line at 11:42, and it took me 13 minutes to get to the point where I could place my order - that's a LONG time to wait in line. I placed my order (a sandwich and a cup of soup), and waited over 15 minutes for it to come out. It was supposed to be a "hot" sandwich, but by the time I got it, it was cold. The (tomato) soup was hot, but not very tasty - I only had a couple of bites, and left the rest to go to waste. In terms of atmosphere, it was loud and hectic, which are not words normally associated with with the term "lounge". There were a lot of loud people in there, and the architecture of the place is like an echo chamber. There were small children running around unattended, which NOT the fault of the establishment, but gives you a feel for the type of patrons this place attracts. There were seven kids (yes, I counted) chasing each other around and running into the furniture, and one kid sitting under an empty table crying (where were his parents ?!?). I felt like I was in Chucky Cheese's. It was totally nerve-racking. The bottom line for me: I gave it a try, and that's it for me. I will not be going back to this place, ever !
google avatar

Kayla P.

Yelp
The best vibes and food for breakfast or brunch! I always get a lavender latte and spoil myself with one of the fresh baked pastries. Can't go wrong with the miner's platter classic breakfast. The roasted veggie gourmet sandwich is hearty and flavorful. So nice to sit outside when it's chilly or nice and cozy inside. Very kind staff and quick service. The fresh bread is to die for and such a treat to buy and bring home.

Chris C.

Yelp
While the food was ok, it certainly wasn't worth it. $50 for an egg sandwich, corned beef, and two coffees?! Probably the most infuriating part of the experience was the somewhat deceptive menu. You would think if the basic egg sandwich has two eggs then one with meat (and the up-charge) would too. Wrong! Only one measly egg (and a whole bunch of carbs..) After addressing it to the staff you'd think they'd try and please the customer by giving up another .40 cent egg. Wrong again. Instead I got lip service! Apparently trying to please the customer isn't a priority at this place.

Chris B.

Yelp
Am increasingly disappointed with the level of service and food quality. have seen a marked decline in both and go back frequently hoping to see this as not just, a '"bad food day". And yet, they get sloppier, more indifferent and now come across as though it's to be expected. When a Cesar Salad with chicken, and a Croissant, and Water costs $35 with self service, long wait, is a standard to be 'tolerated' then it's time to stop patronising the establishment. Another restaurant that will inevitably join the others that Have fallen by the wayside. Too bad.
google avatar

Cheryl S.

Yelp
The food was very delicious, that's no lie. The service was a little bit questionable. I've been in the bread lounge about 3 times before with my family. When we ordered, it was fine, they took the orders and then told us that it would be out shortly. It took relatively over 30 minutes to get all the food out of the kitchen (4 orders) Once we got the food onto the table, our waiter was very rude. It gave us the food and then ordered us to stop messing with the table flag. We apologized but that is generally not how to act, you should take the flag and go. The overall experience of the bread lounge was acceptable, but I would be cautious on wanting to spend a short amount of time there, and watching attitude and actions around workers
google avatar

Sean M.

Yelp
great service, nice ambiance. the food is overpriced for the quality you get. unfortunately the breakfast burrito tasted like plastic. oatmeal is made with water, unless you specifically ask for milk. at least the stuffed French toast was good.
google avatar

George R.

Yelp
The baked good are fabulous and the staff is delightful. We love visiting on the weekends. The scones are delicious

Khoi N.

Yelp
We stumbled upon Evergreen after I had missed a turn to the Buffalo outlook. I am glad we did because this biscuit sandwich was on another level. the biscuit was moist, crispy and had so much flavor. I was enamored by how well this was made! We also ordered the avocado toast. This was also very felciious! we finished our quick breakfast with two cubans outside with a mountainous view. This is a fantastic place to start your trip to Breckenridge or even Idaho springs. We will be back to this place when we revisit!

Yelp
We regularly drive to Evergreen, JUST to hit up Evergreen Bread Lounge. The food is fresh and so tasty. The bread is consistently amazing. You won't be disappointed.

Vanessa W.

Yelp
I love this place every time I am in Evergreen! Great food, service, views and drink options. The ambiance is great for meeting a friend for coffee or just having a solo outing. I wish I would've been early enough for pastries but now I just have to go back! One of the best Caesars I have had and yummy soup that I ate every drop of with the sourdough bread.

Beth J.

Yelp
I love this place. The multigrain sourdough is one of the most delicious sliced breads I have eaten. The chocolate sourdough is amazing. The pastries are all good. The coffee is excellent. And the people are so kind. I have only gotten bread, pastries and coffee here but would love to try their regular food as well.

Monica P.

Yelp
Biscuits and Green Chili Gravy with breakfast potatoes are my favorite along with their BLT!

Marty O.

Yelp
Second time visiting Evergreen Bread. Awesome sandwiches this time. Great bread and quality ingredients as well as very welcoming service.
