Live-tank seafood, Cantonese BBQ, and a wide dim sum selection make this the area’s most ambitious Chinese kitchen. Praised by local diners and consistently busy with multigenerational families, it’s where East Lansing gathers for roast duck feasts.

Usually their food is good, but this time everything was too salty. The crispy noodles, the Kung Pao Chicken were quite salty, and the veggie (Chinese broccoli with the white garlic sauce) was quite bland. The tea is for additional charge, but there is no filter so it was hard to drink it with all the leaves

We always stop here for our Toronto trip and this place is always packed. Great food but the service is a little lacking which is understandable because they are busy. Highly recommend their West Lake Soup and Signature vermicelli noodles

I found out about Everyday Authentic Chinese Cuisine after simply looking around at Google Maps. The reviews intrigued me, and since I seek out unique dining experiences, I thought I’d give it a try! I will preface this review by saying that this is not a restaurant that really caters to the western palate, it is definitely more of an authentic Chinese restaurant. If you want more “Americanized Chinese”, there are plenty of other options in the Lansing area. However, if you want to be adventurous and try some authentic foods, this is the place for you! If you want the best dim sum I have had in the state, this place is definitely for you! I had the orange chicken and dim sum and felt really satisfied with my meal. The orange chicken was pretty standard, but the dim sum was excellent! The menu was primarily in Chinese without any pictures for reference and the staff was limited in their English, but they really did try their best to help me understand what I was ordering. I really want to come back and try some of their pork belly and very fresh seafood. How many places in Michigan have live crab and lobster? Overall, this is a great place if you want to try some of the more exotic Chinese dishes without much “Americanization”!

Google
Excellent authentic Chinese cuisine with friendly wait staff and fast service. On separate visits we tried dishes from the dinner menu as well as dim sum items and some ready to go items from the BBQ counter -- all were delicious and fairly priced. We wish there was one closer to us in the Metro Detroit area but we will be glad to take our Spartans every time we visit them on campus!!!

Google
Everyday Chinese is my favorite restaurant ever. The staff is always wonderful and the food is INCREDIBLE!!! My husband and I make sure we never order the same thing when we go (except for the salted pineapple custard bun, those are a must), and we've never had a bad dish. 10/10

Yelp
Everything we've had so far has been amazing! There's plenty of seating to cater to large groups. If you're in a big party I'd recommend getting there right when they open just to get a table and not have to wait so long. The seafood is FRESH! When you walk in there are tanks on the side where there's clams, crab, fish, etc. Clams in the black bean sauce is a favorite. The salt and pepper crab is also a must when dining here, the fried garlic that it's topped with is so good! The peaking duck is delicious! It came out fairly quickly because knowing that dish it usually takes awhile for it to come out. It's served with thin tortillas rather than a bun which imo was better because you could eat more of it without getting so full. It also comes with some cucumbers, pickled carrots and radish, green onion and a sweet plum sauce.

Yelp
Ambiance: your typical Chinese restaurant with live seafood you can select and roast duck and pork belly Service: fast service. It only took a few minutes after you order for them to bring out the food. Food: delicious authentic Chinese food. The bbq combo was great since I had a craving for it. The Chinese broccoli came out on a large plate as well as the eggplant. Very good and a lot of options.

Yelp
This is a no frills Chinese restaurant. True to its name, I would say it's pretty authentic! My family and I got: - Peking duck: comes with soup, pancakes, and fried rice. We chose to add salted fish to the duck friend rice and it added the perfect amount on saltiness to it - stir fried pea sprout: I love any green vegetable in a garlic sauce I would definitely come back. It really hit the spot.
google avatar

Grace K.

Yelp
This is my favorite place for authentic Chinese food in Lansing. The Peking duck is my favorite here. The service is very efficient and friendly. The restaurant is casual - good for groups. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Approved by Asian parents, so you know it's legit! My go to is always the Dry Hotpot. You have to pick 7 meats/veggies minimum, and it can get pricey, so it's recommended that you get it for the whole table to share (or, don't, if you want leftovers). I love mala anything, so this is the perfect dish for me! No recommendations on which meats and veggies to get, it's all based on personal preference! We also like to get the fried rice rolls that have shrimp on the inside. The outside is so crunchy, and the shrimp is juicy! Crab fried rice is also a crowd favorite. The restaurant is mostly clean, but I will note that at the end of the day, it is a place that uses a lot of oil for cooking, so IYKYK... Service is good; the waitresses have always been very nice and polite to us!

Yelp
Everyday Authentic Chinese Cuisines - I love it when most of what I need to say is already in the name of the restaurant. This place is unassuming from the outside - a sign among many signs in a strip mall. Man is that deceiving though.... When we walked in, we were treated to fish tanks with all kinds of live sea food (lobster, crab, flounder, tilapia, etc) and hanging cooked ducks. I have a friend who studied abroad in China for 5 years who recommended this as the local place that reminded him most of the village where he taught. We're big duck fans, so we opted for the Peking duck 3-course meal which included pancakes, duck-bone-broth soup, Peking duck with skin, and a mountain of mushroom fried rice. As many of you know, we've been to over 300 restaurants in the Lansing area, and many more around the world, so it takes a bit for a place to really blow our minds. Consider our minds blown. The duck was so crisp, tender, and balanced, that I swear if I just had let it sit on my tongue and not chewed, it would have melted away. The soup was deep and full of umami flavor. The fried rice was perfect, and the pancakes made great backup "silverware" to our chopsticks. The place was packed, and I could see why. This hidden gem won't remain hidden for long, I suspect.

Yelp
Great Chinese food! The service is good with great ambiance! Overall, great local spot!

Etta A.

Yelp
The food is excellent and menu expansive. The ambiance needs work. They seem to be in a constant state of remodeling. Also, they need to develop a gluten free substitution for all items. The dim sum is excellent but I like rolling carts from which to choose. Still, this is a wonderful restaurant and great for group dining.
google avatar

Yelp
This restaurant is a little hole in the wall in a strip shopping center. At first we couldn't find it as the sign was faded and hidden by a tree. I walked in to be facing large fish tanks with fish waiting to be selected for a diner's meal. Continuing my walk into the restaurant I walked by lots of lobsters and a few crab waiting to meet the same fate. That said, the restaurant didn't smell fishy. The place is plain but has plenty of room for everyone. Waitstaff very business-like with no wasted chit chat. Large menu with several dishes I've not seen before. I couldn't make myself order the fish in case they'd make me select the victim! Food comes out hot and delicious! I had the lo mein and I was disappointed my stomach wasn't bigger. Spouse had the Kung Po. It was spicy and oh so tasty. I will definitely be going back when I'm in the area!

Yelp
This is the best authentic Chinese food I've had ever, everything was wonderful and the atmosphere is nice.

Yelp
We came here so that my cousin could try the roasted duck and pork so that he may order it from here for his upcoming wedding. We got here at noon on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy, but since we were a party of 7 we were seated in the back area. Our waitress was helpful with how to order. My mom also was able to speak Chinese with her and add other items. We mainly ordered dim sum items consisting of hargow (shrimp dumplings), fried chive and pork dumplings, sui mai, chicken feet, shrimp rolls, pineapple buns, egg, custard, tarts, and durian pastry tarts. We also added Chinese broccoli with garlic sauce, roasted pork, roasted duck, eggplant with meat and garlic sauce, and beef chow fun. Everything was very delicious. I would have been here a lot if they were around while I went to school at that time.

Yelp
Crispy noodle with fish, scallop, shrimp, and a lot of veggies. Soo good. Authentic Chinese food. Love it. Must try.

Yelp
My family and I stopped by for dinner this past Sunday and they were able to fit a party of 12. We ordered so much food here and most of what we ordered were quite good. I was impressed to find this quality of food here. The peking duck came with some wrappers and garnish along with hoisin sauce for dipping. The duck skin was crispy and the duck itself was tender. However, on it's own it's a bit bland, so definitely dip it in hoisin sauce! This also came with a duck soup (contained veggies and beancurd, I think) but I thought it was on the blander side. It's a good palette cleanser I guess, but could use a tad more seasoning. We also got the fish maw and crab meat soup. Similarly, good amount of seafood "fresh" flavors, but could use more seasoning. The EVERYDAY BBQ PLATTER was a fan favorite at our table. This comes with Hainanese chicken, crispy roasted pork belly and char siu. I personally really liked the strong sesame flavor that's been coated on the chicken and the pork belly was delicious with its super crunchy skin. My favorite was definitely the lobster with ginger & scallion sauce. The lobster shell had been nicely pan-fried and super flavorful ("wok hay") after being cooked in the sauce. There wasn't a whole lot of lobster meat, but the sauce and flavors made up for it. This was a solid option and I would highly recommend it if you are a fan. We also got the mayo shrimp with mango which was pretty standard. We also got the steamed bass which had a nice soy sauce that went with it. The fish was overcooked in some parts but the sweetness of the soy sauce complemented it well. There were a few other dishes (like peashoots and braised lamb in clay pot) that we also enjoyed. Overall, the whole meal was almost $400 after tax and tip, which is a fair price for the amount of food and quality of food we got.

Yelp
Delicious dim sum food! Tons of seating for big parties. Service was pretty quick as well.

Yelp
Omg the food the food was incredible. This place was under construction the last time I came about two years ago. I had gotten the steamed ginger chicken for takeout and it was amazing. Yesterday I took my family to this place again! It was worth the price. Very very authentic Chinese cuisine! Cannot wait to go back!

Yelp
Very good food, my grandma has very high expectations and she loved the duck. We wete seated and served quickly. The atmosphere was welcoming. Great spot would recommend.

Yelp
Epic Peking Duck feast for a reasonable $55. Some of the most interesting Chinese food I've had. The duck soup might have been the standout. I strongly suggest the three course over the two course for this reason.

Rose J.

Yelp
The waitstaff is excellent, they are very attentive to details. I ordered peaking duck because it looked pretty good at the entrance, however, the cost is $55 or $70 with tip and the portion size was too small on the duck. The duck was served in small slices upside down, half of the slices (6) were nothing but duck skin, and only about 6 small slices had any duck meat. Moreover, the duck was very dry, somewhat lukewarm, and not seasoned well, it did come with hoisin sauce but did not do much for the cold duck. I guess, my take on this is if you want peaking duck either go to Toronto or China...it will be cheaper and better. I made several calls to the restaurant to speak with the manager but one was not available....oh well, they could have prevented this review. Not worth the money, do not buy it!

Yelp
Super authentic Chinese food. Came here for dinner with some friends. We were all visiting from Boston and were very happy with the variety, option, and quality of the food. Sauteed green beans and spicy salt and pepper tri were amazing. Service was pretty fast, too. They also give you rice, so you don't need to ask for it, and any pots of tea are $5 as an fyi, since we didn't know when we asked for tea. Inside has ample seating, and fish tanks at the entrance :)

Yelp
We have been to his restaurant many times before. My husband swears it is one of the best Chinese restaurants he has been to be including So-Cal and Nor-Cal. We were very surprised to find good Chinese food in East Lansing Michigan. Entering the restaurant is not very special or decorative. It is very traditional with round tables set up to accommodate large groups. There is plenty of space inside the restaurant and the times we went, it was somewhat busy. The first time we went there we looked over the menu to see what they offered. Their menu has so many dishes, very traditional. I usually let my husband pick and chose the dishes just because he knows better than me and I'm not picky. The waitress that helped us the first time suggested off menu items which we agreed on. We also chose some on menu items because we wanted to try out a little bit of everything. Since the restaurant wasn't as busy, our dishes came out quickly. Everything was so good. So much better than the restaurants in California. The flavor was there, and each dish came with pretty good protein proportions. My husband couldn't stop talking about how good the food was. We have taken my in-laws and friends to this restaurant, and they have agreed it is one of the better Chinese restaurants they have experienced. I'm so sad we had to move away from East Lansing but we will make the drive back so we can eat at this place. It is worth it 100%.

Yelp
I've been in Lansing for 3 years, and this entire time, I've been searching for delicious authentic dimsum. I'm so glad to say that my search is over. The dim sum at this restaurant satiated all my cravings and did not disappoint!!
google avatar

Yelp
Probably the best authentic chinese restaurant you'll find in East Lansing. They have live seafood in tanks. They make many authentic Hong Kong/Cantonese dishes. I was quite impressed with the seafood stir fried in XO sauce. You can really taste the "wok hay" the pea sprouts (aka snow pea leaves) were perfect. Not old or chewy. The beef chow fun in soy sauce is decent for this area. I was not too impressed with the lobster cooked maggi style. It's much better in Toronto/Markham. The waitstaff were nice and efficient. You never go to an authentic chinese restaurant expecting 5 start service. The place is a little older so it has the typical sticky floors and old furnishing, but orherwise place gets a solid 4 stars from me!
google avatar

Erik S.

Yelp
Everyday is a legit, 广东菜 (Cantonese cuisine) restaurant. Cantonese is not my personal favorite, but I can respect authenticity and good quality when I see and taste it. We tried a couple things on our first visit here: * 萝卜炖牛腩 (radish with beef tendon) * 沸腾水煮鱼 (spicy boiled fish) The former was excellent, and - again - that's their specialty, Cantonese dishes. The latter was average. (My guess after this experience is they do decent Sichuan, but not great.) Price was reasonable. Staff were helpful and friendly. I guess what I'd say is if you like Cantonese food you'll probably really enjoy this place.

Jing S.

Yelp
We, as a group of seven adults went to there for post celebration of Chinese New Year, and ordered seven dishes and a large size of soup. The food was fresh made and each dish was tested amazing. The service was excellent as well. The price was just right. We are definitely coming back!!
google avatar

Annie L.

Yelp
Everyday Chinese has been my favorite authentic Chinese food in Lansing area. The food quality has always been great with consistent taste and quality. Our favorite dish is the seafood stir fry in XO sauce. The mixture of seafood is not your everyday packet from grocery store. They used more interesting mix including fish belly, fried scallops etc. The mix of stir fry and deep fry textures really makes this dish unique. Their Basil chicken also has its own character. It is spicy and sweet. The chicken is really tender but not overly watery. It was my first time trying this dish and I was pleasantly surprised. The sausage fried rice was amazing. Instead of using regular rice, they used sticky rice. So the dish itself was not dry at all, but rather slightly chewy. The ambiance was Classical Chinese restaurant environment. The service was fast and the waitresses really know what to recommend based on your interest.

Yelp
The best Cantonese restaurant and the best place to get Peking duck in Michigan. Try their durian cake. It melts in your mouth!
google avatar

Suren B.

Yelp
Highly recommended - authentic food, especially dimsam. Fast service, very friendly. Some authentic dishes available, and we'll -prepared.
google avatar

Anita L.

Yelp
Like the name says, this is *authentic* Chinese! So yes, there are bones and yes Chinese people eat bull frog (racist comment much?). Yes, it's a little dingy and grimy, but that comes with the authenticity. They have fantastic Peking duck- comes with soup, the Peking duck, and duck fried rice. We also ordered the Szechwan grilled fish - a huge portion and comes with a whole fish (so yes there's bones!). I didn't expect much from a Lansing restaurant but I actually felt the Peking duck was better than the Chicago restaurants. There was a great variety of dishes, and I loved the jellyfish! Well seasoned with sesame oil and chili. I also noticed the other customers were Chinese, so that's a testament!
google avatar

Christina M.

Yelp
Everyday is the best Authentic Chinese food in this area we've had. Every time my husband and I order we try something different from their menu, and I'm lucky because my husband eats basically anything! The House Lo Main is my favorite dish and has a really great flavor profile with a lot of noodles and mix of proteins proteins. This past order we had chicken basil, which was nice and spicy with large sprigs of fresh basil and came with well-cooked white rice that was nice and sticky. Everyday is a little pricer than other places if you're planning on getting American Chinese, but for their regular menu -- they're simply amazing. They also have steamed buns, which are okay. We found the BBQ bun to be too sweet and the custard buns to be too messy and overall prefer the ones at Golden Wok, but so far our only "complaint". Thank you, Everyday for staying open and getting us through COVID!
google avatar

Cecily W.

Yelp
They were still under renovation when we visited. They struggled a little bit on the service side, which is not uncommon. The machine to swipe the credit card was having an issue, which caused a delay in the process. We enjoyed the Mongolian beef and flounder fillet in chili pepper broth. The stir-fried pea sprouts were alright. The everyday special casserole is not the same as I expected, not as flavorful as I thought.

Yelp
Growing up as second generation Chinese in San Francisco, I had great dim sum. Living in Shanghai for the last 4 years, I had great authentic dim sum. Traveling to Hong Kong, I had Michelin-starred dim sum. Can there really be decent dim sum in Lansing, MI? Absolutely!!! This place is LEGIT! I now look forward to my trips to Lansing for "kids' activities" (I get away and go have dim sum)
google avatar

Lils M.

Yelp
The only good Chinese place in East Lansing and my favorite go-to spot. The mapo tofu is what I always get but their other food is great too! I usually order a cold soy milk along with my meal. Everyone in the restaurant always seems to enjoy themselves, good vibes, great food. You can't beat it!

Bruce W.

Yelp
Dim sum is really good. Stopped by on a weekday past lunch time. Everything was made fresh.

Yelp
Food was good. Menu is a bit intimidating for first timers. We were there early enough for the dim sum menu. Everything we had was good, and the staff was helpful.

Yelp
The food was fantastic! The orange chicken was incredibly tender and flavorful, and my family loved the egg drop soup. Will look forward to ordering again!

Yelp
I highly recommend this authentic Chinese food restaurant for anyone who appreciates outstanding cuisine. We are here to drop off our son for Med school, have eaten here two days in a row. From the breakfast and lunch Dim Sum to the seafood dinner, every dish is truly authentic and incredibly delicious. The freshness of the ingredients is evident in every bite, and it's impressive that everything is made in-house, not pre- made by somewhere for a quick meal The seafood dinner is particularly exceptional, with live lobsters, crabs, and prawns that are cooked to perfection. The flavors are rich and satisfying, and the seafood is incredibly fresh. As someone who values authenticity, I can confidently say that this is the best Chinese food I have had in years. The restaurant's commitment to providing an authentic dining experience is evident in every aspect, from the attentive service to the beautifully presented dishes. The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it a perfect place to enjoy a meal with friends and family If you are looking for an exceptional Chinese food experience, I highly recommend visiting this restaurant. You won't be disappointed by the outstanding food and the genuine flavors that will transport you to the heart of China.

Derek A.

Yelp
Food was mid. Cleanliness was mid. Wait staff circulated between a few different people but some of them could not answer simple questions about the menu. Only good thing about this place was the price/portions.
google avatar

Austin N.

Yelp
One of my favorite asian restaurants in the area. Always serve delicious food and haven't had anything bad from here. Also Dimsum is so good
google avatar

Grace C.

Yelp
This place is so good! I came to get take out a few days ago, and I was pleasantly surprised by the service and quality of food. My friend and I got the house fried rice, roast crispy pork belly, and some barbeque pork buns. My favorite, by far, was the roast crispy pork belly; it was so crispy and just plain delicious. It is a very fatty and salty dish, so it was nice that it came with white rice. The fried rice was also super good; it is a great standalone dish. If I were to redo my order, I would skip the barbeque pork buns. They were too sweet and not savory enough in my opinion. You get a lot of food for the amount you pay, and the servers are super nice and attentive. There is an abundance of seats--it is a great place to try family style when ordering. Don't let the 3 stars fool you; this place is definitely worth the try.

Yelp
I stopped by with my nephews for dim sum buffet... It's only $13.95 (extra for tea and other drinks) - for the price you get pretty much the popular dim sums and several other Chinese dishes - including salt and pepper shrimp, chicken feet, mapo tofu, fried fish, sushi rolls, baked goods and desserts. The menu offering seems to change as the days goes by, so keep that in mind. On my first plate, I grabbed some mixture of dumplings and made my own dipping sauce by mixing the dumpling soy sauce with the hot chili oil (highly recommended). The dumplings were decent, but the only issue I had was that the top of the dumplings were dried out because they were sitting in the steam trays too long. I did try other foods, but my three favorites were: - Salt and Pepper Shrimp (grab them when they come out) - Spicy Fish (this came out towards of end of my meal) - Pork Ribs If you want to skip the buffet and try authentic "authentic" food, order off the menu. Now, this review is only based upon the dim sum buffet experience... my initial thought was to give them 3 stars, but two reasons why I'm giving two stars: 1. Dirty Dish - I went back up for another round, grabbed a plate from the clean pile of plates... just happened to tap my fingers on the bottom of the plate as I contemplated what to grab and that's when I noticed the roughness on the bottom of the plate. I turned the plate over and lost my appetite thereafter... only the top of the plate was washed, the bottom still had food chunks stuck to it. 2. Lack of Cleaning - the table next to us (in this case a booth), parents and kids left after eating. Now, if you ever ate out with your own kids or nephews or friends kids (little ones), then you know how of messy eaters they are. After this family left, the staff came and cleaned up the top of the table, but never bothered to clean the food droppings (and there were tons) on the floor. Once the top of the table was cleaned, they seated other customers. So if you are doing the buffet, double check your plates. I know, it's buffet, but you shouldn't send out a dirty dish back to the buffet line as it was cleaned. I feel sorry for the dish washer with the amount of dirty plates that comes back to them, but cleanliness comes first!!

Samantha S.

Yelp
The food is phenomenal! We had the won ton soup, egg rolls, sweet chili ox tail and pork belly. The pork belly was probably the best I've ever had. The ox tail was equally as amazing and great portion sizes!! I wish I had gotten a better picture but I couldn't stop eating
google avatar

Debbie R.

Yelp
Would be 5 stars for the food and staff. Just took off a star for the ambiance. That being said, it looked like they might be getting ready to do some remodeling when we were there. A face lift would make a difference. (example, the seats of the booth were worn through). There are very large tanks of fish and lobsters at the entry. I think some people would enjoy seeing their food caught fresh from the tank. I am not one of those people Just a heads up for anyone who feels the same. The food was fantastic and we will return.
google avatar

Akira D.

Yelp
There is so much to say about authentic cuisine that I will start out by saying that I really feel like an ignorant american schmuck because I never expect to find BONES in my chicken broccoli mushroom soup. Yet here they are, although perhaps not staring back at me as the beady eyed crab and live lobster kept in the tanks up front. Now at least you know it is real chicken, because you can see the leg butting out of the bite sized morsel sitting on my plate. I am glad to have chickens back home that will eat this chicken leg in my soup. Gross. Maybe next time I will be more adventurous and go for the bullfrog or the beef entrails. Wow. Must be an acquired taste, though definitely not mine. At least I enjoyed the wontons.

Yelp
The dim sum is OUTSTANDING. Rivals the best of Honolulu, and is far better than Portland, Oregon. My wife and I come every Sunday-- and leave happy. Seriously, I don't think most Lansingers know what they have (evidenced by the fact that the clientele is almost exclusively Chinese).

Ashley S.

Yelp
I am from San Francisco and I've struggled to find a good Chinese food place here in MI. This is it. I will happily drive 2 hours one way to eat here. I can't wait to return. Worth the trip. Great ambiance, the service is good, and watching the fish tanks are neat too.

Yelp
Very authentic Chinese food. We loved it. Everything had so much flavor. Slow service but it was very busy, so we didn't mind waiting.

Yelp
This is authentic Chinese. Amazing food and amazing flavor. Some of the way around.

Yelp
I love this restaurant! Here's why, Upon arriving at this restaurant I was greeted with some amazing waiters! The menu was super easy to read, the ambiance was so warm and welcoming too. Great restaurant! I will be returning!

Yelp
I love this place!!!! Hot pot is amazing and big worth every penny. Atmosphere is great everything tastes great if you love trying new things come here. The Szechuan cold beef tendons and crispy duck and pork belly are amazing I can't wait to go again, and try something new. They offer life seafood options..
