The 5 Best Restaurants In Bar Harbor, Maine 2024

"Everyday Joe’s has everything you’ll need during a National Park trip: a gas station, a laundromat, and an unfussy restaurant for breakfast sandwiches and burgers. You can grab a quick to-go breakfast burrito as an easy option before you hop on an Acadia-bound tour bus. Or, hang out by the front windows, slurp some noodles, and watch parents wrangle their kids or posh vacationers head to their boat tour. The food here is much better than your average gas station meal, and it’s one of the few spots in town that’s open year-round." - anne cruz

The 5 Best Restaurants Near Acadia National Park

"Everyday Joe’s is located at one of the few gas stations in Bar Harbor, which makes it a prime “two birds, one stone” candidate for fueling up both your body and car. There are convenience store standards like giant coffee dispensers and Slim Jims inside, but you’ll also find a griddle behind the checkout counter, lots of seating, and a menu that spans everything from breakfast sandwiches to bowls of ramen. While you can grab a to-go breakfast quesadilla to eat en route to your biking destination of the day, you’re in Maine—slow down and stay a while. The friendly staff and warm atmosphere make that easy. " - anne cruz

Google
Everyday Joe’s is a great diner in Bar Harbor. The stuff is friendly and gives you a warm welcome when walking in. You order your food at the counter. I had the Joe‘s bowl which was great and my girl had an omelette with potatoes. Coffee comes with free refills. I ever wonder why someone orders a big coffee when you pay less for a small coffee which you can refill. Great atmosphere and friendly stuff. Would definitely come again to taste the pancakes which looks great on other tables.

Google
Service was odd, kind of abrupt and flat “are you here for breakfast?” No good morning how are you? No waitress, place your order and sit down. Joe’s bowl was underwhelming and just ok (wouldn’t buy it again.) Blueberry pancakes were good! Fluffier and better texture than Jordan’s (just no real blueberry syrup.) Sausage tasted like frozen from Walmart. Coffee tasted good, but day 2 we went back for just coffee and they ran out. The lady said “decaf only.” How does a breakfast restaurant in Bar Harbor peak tourist season run out of coffee? Seriously go find some!

Carolyn Humpherys

Google
A simple and delicious breakfast at a reason price. I had the bacon, egg and cheese omelette and a single blueberry pancake. The omelette came with potato wedges. Everything was delicious. It’s a basic diner atmosphere. Chairs are uncomfortable for us wider-hipped women.

Ellen B.

Google
Tiny sweet wild blueberries added to the already wonderful pancakes. I really enjoy the casual atmosphere that invites me to hang out as long as I want on a rainy day.

Google
Chose Everyday Joe’s for breakfast because it’s a little off the strip and we could get in right away. The service and food is excellent! The atmosphere feels like a converted food market (which it is) and hence the name. But if you don’t care about ambiance you should try it. Our omelets were perfect and not too greasy which happens at a lot of breakfast places. The potatoes were amazing too. I recommend Everyday Joe’s for a great meal and a good value.

Google
Great good at a great price, especially in Bar Harbor! I had the turkey sandwich and it can't came with fries and both were large portions and well made.

Kevin

Google
Everyday joe's feels like a nice little diner. Hot breakfast foods, but also grocery store like snacks adorned the shelves for purchase. A nice stop to come before heading out to some trails. Blueberry pancakes had a ton of blueberries in it!

Jim McTague

Google
My wife and I stopped for breakfast at Everyday Joe's. We both got omelets which were delicious. We both had coffees which were self-serve with unlimited refills. The coffee was hot and delicious. Service was super quick and friendly.

Yelp
We came in for breakfast. Food was delicious, service was great, and the price appropriate for the area. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Came to Everyday Joe's for breakfast since all the brunch and breakfast spots in the area were closed because I was visiting Bar Harbor during the off-season in early April. The restaurant was pretty empty. The staff was friendly. I had the typical eggs and toast, and it was pretty good.
google avatar

Cecile A.

Yelp
Simple, little market that serves "everyday" diner food. Super friendly service. A menu for lunch and one for breakfast.
google avatar

Dr. Albert B.

Yelp
Good coffee. Unless it's a specialty drink you pay and then self serve. Not a fan of that especially when they expect you to tip.

Richard R.

Yelp
Slightly out of the way but well worth the extra few steps. My wife's pancakes were among the best she ever had. My omelet was just right, plenty of cheese. I recommend the Acadia blend coffee. Order at the cash register. The food came quickly. Only open until 2 pm which tells you that they are serious about breakfast.

Yelp
Food = 4 Service = 3 Value=2 We really had high hopes for this breakfast joint, but were disappointed. It was good food but pricey. We did a to go order and the service was very unfriendly. We can make way better eggs at home and spend way less.
google avatar

Megan F.

Yelp
For a quick and easy lunch - indoor and outdoor seating available. Large portions for reasonable prices.
google avatar

Dianne M.

Yelp
We stopped in for lunch after walking around Bar Harbor. The menu is pretty limited, but I enjoyed my Greek salad. My husband had the grilled chicken soft tacos - there were 3 which surprised him and the fries were great! It is counter service, but she did bring our food out. It didn't take very long. It is bare bone decor, but clean and well maintained.
google avatar

Yelp
If you're not open at 6, don't advertise it!!! People wasting their time coming over here.

Kevin L.

Yelp
Ok, but I'm sure better options. Mediterranean omelet without feta. Poor self service coffee and no rush to refill darker roast so hoping they adjusted bill.
google avatar

Yelp
Not worth it - I wonder how they have such a high rating... I was looking forward based on review here on Yelp but not at the right level for a breakfast place - not well organized, bad coffee...
google avatar

Justinas S.

Yelp
I had the bacon egg and cheese it was a solid contender of a sandwich. Now keeping in mind I've had bacon egg and cheeses from around Jersey and New York which this does not quite match up to but it was a solid sandwich. The atmosphere was solid as well it was not that crowded early in the season. Service was fine no complaints there as well.

Yelp
If you are looking for a great cup of "Joe" (several varieties) this is your place. Looking for a quality sit down breakfast with variety, skip this place. More of a "grab something on the run kinda place". You get what you pay for. Staff very nice, place was clean.

Mark T.

Yelp
What a disorganized bunch. Clean restaurant. In the only customer. I order a veggie burger and the 2 guys working chat for about 7-8 minutes and then tell me there's no Veggie burgers. I ask for a refund and they tell me it's impossible. They offer me a cheese burger and I ask for a regular burger with no cheese. Five minutes later they bring me a a warm bun and toppings but no burger. When I bring it back to ask for a burger the cook says I said no burger. He then realized it was no cheese. As I'm writing this, he's now cooking the burger. PS. - I asked to eat in and both attempts were given to me in to go boxes.
google avatar

Priscilla Y.

Yelp
Everyday Joe's is a convenience store that also serves breakfast and lunch. It's a good place to grab if you want something quick. I had the breakfast bowl, which was an egg scramble of sausage, bacon, onion, green pepper, mushrooms, tomatoes, and potato wedges, topped with cheese. It tasted like a typical breakfast dish, but I still enjoyed it.
google avatar

Susan W.

Yelp
Excellent coffee and friendly service in an unpretentious but comfortable setting. The cool jazz playing in the background adds to the ambiance. The blueberry pancakes were tasty and the bacon was crisp.

Yelp
This little gem in downtown Bar Harbor is truly a treat. Quick service-great food-and always fresh. They even have breakfast sandwiches to grab and go. The falafel wrap was delicious and check out the bacon sandwich!

Jennifer W.

Yelp
We found this place for breakfast one day and it was good. Breakfast sandwiches were tasty and the pancakes were fluffy and cake-like instead of being dense. The potatoes were a little too salty for my taste. Prices This is a restaurant/gas station/convenience mart and is associated with the laundromat next door, so the atmosphere is very casual. It seemed to be more of a local place than a tourist joint. One person at the counter and another manning the cooktop. There were no lines, but it was an order-at-the-counter and bus-your-own-table kind of place rather than a full service restaurant. We were in Bar Harbor during a very rainy week, and a year-round resident was sitting behind us. He gave us some ideas for how we could adjust our plans for the day, which we appreciated.

Tammy S.

Yelp
Food and coffee are amazing!! The food is incredibly flavorful. Establishment has a convenience store in the back and restaurant in the front. Great low carb and gluten free options.

David C.

Yelp
Basic breakfast quality that you'd find at truck stops, got the breakfast bowl and wife got an omelette. Both were decently tasty, a bit oily and the price was high for what it was. Coffee was standard drip like you'd find in a truck stop. Food came out very quickly. Not much for ambiance - no decor to speak of. There are better quality along bar harbor at same or cheaper prices.

Jennifer F.

Yelp
Casual market with food, order at counter. Food came out fast and was DELICIOUS. We got a BLT and the Italian. BLT has the perfect ratio, and the toast was great. The Italian was ridiculous....ham, cheese, salami, LT. The ham and cheese were each a THICK slice/slab of ham and mozzarella, with a perfect amount of Italian dressing. My rarely impressed husband raved. Fries were perfect, too. AND, it's incredibly reasonably priced. Enjoy!

Jenny E.

Yelp
Delicious breakfast spot, and convenience store. Would definitely eat here again on a future visit to Bah Hahbah!

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Excellent quality and value breakfast, fast and friendly service. Great location just slightly away from the busiest area on BH.
google avatar

Katrina W.

Yelp
My friends and I stopped here before our hike. I got one of their hot sandwiches which was delicious. The bread was nice and crispy and the flavor combinations were great. I would not recommend getting the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich (cold). My friends got that and really didn't enjoy it. It looked like deli slices of buffalo chicken and was just nothing impressive. My other friends got the Lobster Roll which they enjoyed!
google avatar

Sabrina H.

Yelp
This little fun spot is actually a mini store/restaurant! You order your food at the counter and seat yourself. A few minutes later out came a delicious omelette bowl and a yummy pancake! It's not fancy (paper plates and plastic utensils) but the food was delicious and quick. Plus, I got a pack of gum while I was there!
google avatar

Annie B.

Yelp
Yelp did not lead me astray on this one. We very much enjoyed the griddled blueberry muffins prior to our bike ride. I will say, I may have even enjoyed their well seasoned home fries more than the muffin. The potatoes were dynamite! Stop by for a grab and go breakfast, or enjoy their outdoor seating during these COVID-19 times!
google avatar

Colette H.

Yelp
So amazing!! My mom recommended this place. I stopped by for breakfast and it was so good. It is in a gas station parking lot but the food was so good! The omelette was so delicious and full of vegetables and ham! Definitely would come back here!
google avatar

Joy E.

Yelp
This was excellent! Wasn't sure what to expect from a gas station but honestly one of the best omelette's out there... veggies were so fresh and the food was very flavorful, it was also light and healthy! Friendly staff and great fast service. Highly recommend this place... We will be back for sure!
google avatar

Shannon D.

Yelp
Ok, so for what was basically a gas station, breakfast here was pretty dang good, and very affordable. Potatoes were great.
google avatar

Zihao W.

Yelp
We got free breakfast here so we went and try. Amazing omelet! I love the resort omelet! Simple but delicious. Mushrooms, bacon, red pepper are cooked earlier and added to the egg. Cheese and put inside the omelet to make it tastes better!

Brian W.

Yelp
This was solid. Good value for the money and quick service. Nothing amazing, but if you want breakfast, you won't be mad you stopped here.
google avatar

Gustaf S.

Yelp
Came in for breakfast and very limited menu, nothing like the Yelp menu photos from 2-3 years ago. Unfortunately didn't get a photo of the new menu. Staff actually suggested other restaurants if we wanted a "real" breakfast.
google avatar

Andrew D.

Yelp
Basically a gas station. Food was good, but not for all the 5 stars. 100 other places that are equal or better.
google avatar

Jessie M.

Yelp
Do not pass this place up! My friend and I popped in for a quick lunch pre-hike and what a pleasant surprise - I got a simple chicken Caesar wrap but I think it may have been my favorite meal yet in Bar Harbor. We actually came back the next day after checking out of our Airbnb to get some work done before heading out of town. I'm originally from the NJ/NY area and this place reminds me of a NYC Bodega in the BEST ways possible. Yummy comfort food, friendly employees/cooks willing to go out of their way to make you happy, and just all around great vibes.
google avatar

Ingrid K.

Yelp
Grab your drink, order your food, pay at the counter, then take a seat so they can bring you your food. Simple, friendly service.
google avatar

Lisa N.

Yelp
Okay- when you see a restaurant that pretty much receives consistent 5 stars you have to check the place out. So... this is another 5 star review and a must stop. The service is incredible, the speed of receving your food is lightning fast and the quality of the food is like a home cooked meal. It's great for kids, groups and adults!
google avatar

S C.

Yelp
Amazing breakfast wraps!! It was so good we came by every morning we were in Bar Harbor except the day they were closed. Their breakfast wrap (we got ours with bacon and pepper jack cheese) was super flavorful and gave us so much energy for our morning hikes! Their blueberry muffin was also delicious especially when grilled. Also enjoyed their chicken sandwich with cheese, peppers and onions. We never had a problem parking and their bathroom is also very clean. Staff were nice, friendly and helpful!! Highly recommend this place!
google avatar

Danielle F.

Yelp
Fantastic place! It was recommended to me and without a doubt, a great choice! Generous serving sides, short wait, you can't go wrong. Also had to try the toasted blueberry muffin and I most certainly don't regret that decision! I had the breakfast wrap, minus the homefries - and I enjoyed every bite. I could have split my meal (will have to box some). The staff is friendly and the location is charming.
google avatar

Adventure C.

Yelp
We enjoyed our egg sandwiches here! They were very tasty and the coffee selection wasn't bad! It was one of the few places that were open at 7am for breakfast and we appreciated that! Haha

Kelly R.

Yelp
DO NOT COME HERE. I don't know how this place has 4.5 stars. I came here reluctantly after paying $45 yesterday for a few beverages and an inedible bagel sandwich. added avo ... 2 small slices of avocado came on it.. wish I took a pic. The bagel was stale and horrible. Got a sandwich today ... supposed to have turkey lettuce tomato swiss and add pickles. Luckily I checked the box because I saw the cook put bacon on it. When I checked they just threw the bacon off of it and gave me extra pickles on the side only because I asked. Still didn't add the cheese. Didn't cut the sandwich in half... laid one piece of turkey on it. My brother got a "panini" that the bread wasn't pressed let alone grilled. Chicken cold and disgusting. They don't even have a freakin bag of Doritos or Cheetos in the whole "market". Mind you, my sandwich and fountain soda cost $18. By the way, the online menu is completely misleading and had none of the same items. Do yourself a favor and go to Lunch soup & sandwiches on Mt. Desert street. We only went here because they're closed on Sundays but I would rather not ate at all.

Yelp
Back in July when I was visiting Bar Harbor with my family, we stopped to get lunch at Everyday Joe's. However, this was no "everyday" experience! The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming & provided great service. We also really enjoyed the selection of food (it's hard to find a restaurant we all like!) and everyone's meals were fabulous. Wish this was in my hometown! Thank you guys so much
google avatar

Pam T.

Yelp
Great food! Was a very busy place so had to wait for a bit but well worth it! We had breakfast bowl and the breakfast burrito. SO good! Had lunch here before and the sandwich I had was off the charts! Good food made to order and fresh. Can't beat that!
google avatar

George S.

Yelp
Great people. Fast service. Very good food. Reasonable prices. A+ experience always. Thank you!

Kim M.

Yelp
Delicious breakfast burrito. Made to order. Nice selection of coffee too. Parking available. Great little find for a hot breakfast, quick!

Brandon N.

Yelp
Ate here while staying in bar harbor to hike in Acadia. For breakfast, the omelet was delicious (sausage and bacon) along w potato wedges. Coffee selection on point as well. For lunch, I had the chicken panini. Was tasty as well. Was relatively quick too. Would stop by again if in town. Great staff!
google avatar

Yelp
I'm one of those people who immediately starts perusing reviews of local restaurants months ahead of my actual vacation and Everyday Joe's was one of the first I bookmarked. Why do you ask, what is so special about this little restaurant that's actually attached to a gas station, well allow me to enlighten you - grilled blueberry muffins. I have been thinking about these muffins since April when I booked our trip and I can assure you that I will be dreaming about them until we return next year. The muffins are cut in half and come out slightly crispy on the inside and the butter just melts into every small crevice, the perfect salty sweet ratio and the plump Maine blueberries burst in your mouth and ya gotta love that these were served first, desert first is clearly not just a motto I live by. Hubby and I also shared the Rise & Shine Breakfast $8.99 for 2 eggs, home fries, choice of meat and toast. The scrambled eggs were tender and fluffy, the potatoes perfectly seasoned and the sausage fresh and flavorful. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and since this place is located the opposite end of the pier parking was easy to come by. We were only in town for 3 days this time so we tried to spread the love to as many local restaurants as we could but rest assured that next time this will be our go to breakfast spot.

Yelp
If you're in Bar Harbor and are looking for breakfast or a light lunch that is non-touristy, inexpensive, and has local vibes, look no further. This little family owned place shares a building with a gas station, but it by no means is "gas station food." I ordered a grilled (yes grilled) homemade blue berry muffin and coffee. It was delicious. I have never had a grilled muffin before, but I will be sure to search them out. The coffee and muffin together were under $5. My dad got a muffin, bacon, eggs, and coffee for about $7. You can really get filled up on some awesome food here for about $5-$7. Also the free refills of locally roasted coffee are nothing to complain about! Would recommend to anyone in the Bar Harbor area!
google avatar

Sam R.

Yelp
If you are in Bar Harbor for any amount of time you MUST come here for breakfast. Best and cheapest food we had during our entire stay. This is not a very touristy place by the looks of it. It's combined with a gas station and a convenience store, both of which were impeccably clean. There are a few tables on the other side of the convenience store where you can eat your breakfast. I had the breakfast sandwich with bacon and swiss and it was AWESOME. Second best breakfast sandwich I have ever had. The grilled blueberry muffin is delicious as well. Super fresh and flavorful Maine blueberries in a more unique format than your usual muffin. Everything my family ordered was yummy as well, especially the home fries. They were not your average potatoes at all. Absolutely delicious and excellently seasoned. The owner was very kind and even shared with us his recipe for the home fries. Both he and the cook/waiter working here exemplified friendly service! To top it all off, this place was CHEAP! The most expensive item on the menu was like $8. Dirt cheap compared to other Bar Harbor restaurants and tastier too! Make this a must during your trip!!
google avatar

Babak M.

Yelp
Very nice people and great breakfast. Highly recommended. We had an omelette, breakfast bowl and pancakes and all were great and large portions. It is a little further away from the center of bar harbor but its worth the 3 minutes walk. Everything was cooked to perfection.

Amelia K.

Yelp
Food was good. They were extremely busy but food came out reasonable time. We did have to wipe our own table.
