The Best Cinema Food and Where to Eat in London Cinemas | Eater London

"The original: this Hampstead cinema, with its large domed screen, is the jewel in the group’s crown. There is a competent selection of pizzas & burgers that can be ordered directly to the sofas, but the real highlight is dessert. BYO (build, not bring) sundaes come in jars — of course — while rich double chocolate cookie dough is baked to order." - Leila Latif

We recently visited Everyman Hampstead for the first time, and having been to other Everyman cinemas before, we can confidently say this is the best one so far. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the décor gave it a warm, inviting feel. We watched our film in the main screen, which has a theatre-like setup, making the experience even more special. Unlike other Everyman cinemas, this one offers extra space between attendees, so you never feel crowded or like someone is invading your personal space. It’s a small but significant detail that enhances comfort. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, adding to the overall experience. A thoughtful touch we appreciated was that when ordering from our seats, the staff offered tap water without any pressure to buy drinks. It’s a small gesture, but it shows they genuinely care about the customer experience rather than just maximising sales. The different lounges are also a great feature, allowing you to relax while waiting. The audience was generally polite and respectful, which is probably helped by the fact that Hampstead is a more upmarket area. One thing Everyman does consistently well across all their locations is the short pre-film speech with instructions, which adds a personal touch compared to commercial cinemas. While tickets are more expensive, it’s absolutely worth it—especially for a film you’re really excited about. It’s also a perfect spot for a date night or an evening out. Highly recommended!

We rented out a screen for a private showing of ‘The Thing’ for my birthday, and the service from the staff was just wonderful from start to finish. We were warmly welcomed and our screen was fitted with plush sofas that were extremely comfy. Special thanks to both Josephine and Lottie who were just excellent! I also want to thank Claire in private hire who made the booking process super smooth, and to my lovely Ainsley, without whom this may not have even happened! Thank you folks for making my birthday extra special 🖤🖤🖤

Smashing place to see a movie with armchair seating and fresh popped corn along with tasty barista coffee. Pricing about the same as the usual multiplex but personable service and well curated viewing list coupled with menu ordering from the pews makes it much better value.

I had a lovely time at this cinema! It’s such a cosy and inviting place. The food and drinks were fantastic, and the service was fabulous—friendly and efficient. I went with a friend, and it was such a great way to spend a Saturday. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a warm and enjoyable movie experience!

I love coming to Everyman Hampstead! It's my favourite cinema. You always get a nice welcome, quick service, cozy seat and yummy food brought to your seat promptly. I've been coming to this location since I was a kid and it is consistently fabulous. It's the perfect way to see a film. Today, I came to watch Bad Guys 2 with my mom and we laughed our socks off.

Recently discovered this gem of a cinema. Really comfortable seats in either screen. The staff are always super helpful and the burgers are hot and messy. Shout out to Grace and Rosie for a looking after us when we saw F1

I absolutely love the Everyman Hampstead! There's nothing quite like snuggling into a sofa with a glass of wine and a juicy burger while getting lost in a film. It's pure indulgence and my go-to for a perfect movie night.

Went there this week. Not been to the hampstead location in a while. Did at 1515 movie very quite which was surprising. Had sofa snd armchairs in the down stairs movie room. When you enter head to the bar area to check in. Ordered food which is delivered to your table. We ordered some hot food which did take a while been quite it surprised me this is my only complaint. Staff did apologize and made up for it. My son had the vegan hotdog and loved it. Coffee is great quality and drinks selection. Kids also had the oreo milkshakes which went down a treat. Would I return 100% and staff where excellent to make this choice.

Yelp
Sometimes I just fancy a more up market cinematic experience, the type where I can swap my popcorn for white chocolate raspberries and my diet coke for a nice glass of red. This is where the Everyman steps in. It prides itself on a whole different attitude to screening and no corners are cut as they deliver their stylish and comfortable ethos. There are two lovely reception lounges where you can enjoy a pre movie drink and a cloakroom that really makes a difference when you've just come in from the rain. Need somewhere to stash your golf brolly whilst you enjoy the film? No problem. The two screening lounges are both filled with big, comfy armchairs and sofas (no standard seat rows in sight), a mini table for your treats and most even have a wine cooler at the side. All the seats are also waited on by efficient service staff so you don't even need to queue for your peppadews and Italian bread. I recommend that you book, if only to get the best seats (choose from the online seating plan). Try the sofa 7/8 on row E, Screening Lounge 1, perfect for cuddling up on. The only thing they leave for you to do is to put your feet up and wait for the film to start. They've got the rest covered

Yelp
YES! Everman is right: "A unique experience" - What a cosy little cinema with a very inspiring location! Very untypical because the viewers can chill down on SOFAS or even love seats :) The big point of this arrangement is the big and comfy space on every seat. I was watching 7 Psychopaths, had some great Cashews and an open redwine. If you like sophisticated movies you are right at Everyman. The seats have 3 different categories: GALLERY ADULT £12.50 - STANDARD ADULT £12.50 and CLUB SUITE (2 Seats) £25. Enjoy the show! It's great!

Yelp
Champagne and cinema and chocolate - all my favourite things start with a C and Everyman Hampstead offers them all with comfy chairs thrown into the mix. What I liked most about this cinema experience was the wine coolers by every seat. There aren't many cinemas where drinking seems actively encouraged. There's a good selection of wine and beer, and four different choices of fizz. There are no bags of m&ms and no pick n mix but you can get a plastic cup full of giant chocolate buttons that taste creamy and delicious and my date's nachos looked pretty good too. We had club suite seats which meant that my date and I got to snuggle up on a sofa. There are sofas in the regular seating area but the club suites have a foot rest so you can lean back and put your coat over yourself and feel like you're in bed. Two weeks ago we paid for Scene seats at the Vue cinema - a whopping £21 each. The club suites were £18 each and much more comfortable. Five stars all the way.

Yelp
A bit out the way for me, but i do make a special journey here now and again! Sheer luxury....no having to stand up clutching your bags when someone needs to get past you...so...much...leg room! I shared a pink sofa last time i was here...and it was delicious. Also happened to go on Acoustic night! It was amazing, instead of those annoying orange wednesday adverts we got a lovely girl and her guitar to watch!

Yelp
Small cinemas are always a winner. Not too much choice, a nice bar bit, liberal drinks policies and a balanced film selection. Essentially, a visit to the cinema is only as good as the film you see but I do care about the atmosphere. I don't like kids chucking pop corn at Angelina's head and people putting their crotch in my face on their way to their 4th toilet break. When I've been The Everyman has definitely been a cool experience, relaxed and they do sell great bar snacks - salt and pepper cashews, get them.

Yelp
What a great place to watch a movie. Like all Everymans there is at-seat service & you're encouraged to get comfy, as if you're at home. I'm not sure if any screens have recliners (like Belsize) but the couches are super comfy. I personally love the two-seaters along the sides. Big enough for two & you can choose to use the bench for your snacks or as a foot rest. Cushions supplied for extra comfort. Certainly you pay more for a ticket here than a big chain cinema but I've never had any problems with people talking during a film or causing any disruption. Because of the price each film is attended by a slightly more mature audience, so for me that makes the extra money worth it. I've become totally intolerant of whisperers, phone checkers & sweet crunchers! Also who doesn't love having a bottle of beer or a glass of wine with a movie! If you've never been & you're put off by price I promise you that once you've dipped into this style of cinema-going you'll never go back!

Yelp
This cinema is the bomb. Probably the most comfortable cinematic experience of my life. I see someone else complained about the sofas but mine was great. Also what set the experience apart was how nice all of the staff were (and I think we interacted with about 5). Also, great selection of films: Birdman, Whiplash, Foxcatcher and Paddington were on the day I went. Can't wait for my next visit. Sure £15 is steep but for such a good experience I felt it was worth it and you would pay at least that for a far inferior experience in Leicester Square.

Yelp
Nice enough cinema with comfy seats (recommend a sofa), but after having spent £50 on the sears and drinks, to then have my £1 packet of Haribo seized by a member of staff seemed pretty pedantic and left a sour taste in the mouth.

Yelp
What do I hate about cinemas? Rude staff. Paying a fortune just for some cold popcorn. Chairs that are not comfortable whoever you position yourself. Everyman has none of these problems. Staff who are, if anything, overly polite bringing food and drink to your seat, a seat that is actually comfortably. It costs a bit more, but the difference is not so huge. They usually show a good choice of films. Their pizzas are good and they have a few nice beers. The end result is feeling incredibly lucky and spoilt! If you can afford a few quid extra, there is no comparison to your standard chain cinema.

Yelp
My experience at The Everyman Hampstead this evening was the best cinematic experience I have had, EVER. This theatre even puts all the huge theatres back in southern California well to shame. The Everyman has got it right. From the comfy couches with pillows to the helpful and genuine staff, they know what they are doing here. It is a great place to escape the cold and curl up on a couch with your loved one. Not to mention they always seem to choose the best films to show here. What is also so amazing about the Everyman is their extensive menu with snacks, food, sweets, and booze. Their wine selection is quite extensive actually. I have heard rumours that they offer mulled wine during the winter season. I can't wait for that. But seriously how much better can it get? Here you can enjoy a lovely film, a big comfy couch for two, and a huge glass of wine the size of your dome. Yep, it's official. The Everyman in Hampstead is the only place I'm headed for all my cinematic adventures from now on.

Yelp
You can pay 13.25 to be in some cold, unfriendly, ugly, multi-million dollar movie theatre chain (ehem, Vue Cinema in Leicester Square)....orrrrr, you could pay 12 quid to sit on a comfy sofa, with a side table and cute waiters to serve you a selection of drinks and bit plates at THE EVERYMAN. I'll have the latter please.

Yelp
Watching a film in this cinema is like being in your living room if it was better appointed, sleeker and had a massive tv. You can pay for normal seats or more expensive sofas in the upstairs balcony and the Everyman was a pioneer in the wine and nibbles in cinemas revolution. Pricey but worth it if you're making a trip to the cinema your main event of the day.

Yelp
Though I love the Everyman brand- this location is not their best. The seats are a dated and tired material where as other Everyman cinema's have more up to date couches and chairs. It is in a great location but I feel some refurbishments are needed as when sitting in particular material red seats it has worn indents from sinking in that results in seating you lower. They have premium seats you can pay for if you want. Other gripe is they do not serve popcorn in this location! Popcorn and movies just go together and it is weird that they do not serve it. They serve an assortment of other snacks but it is not the same. It is still a preferred experience than a big chain theater as they have bar snacks & drinks served to your seat but with some subtle changes it could be much better.

Yelp
I actually came to this venue for a film club meet up -- to talk about movies, not to see a movie. For that purpose, it was really perfect. Just a short stroll from the Hampstead Station (literally, I think you can see it from the exit), Everyman is two levels of cinema, bar, cafe and lounge. Our group met on the second level lounge, a small area near the concessions with several couches, drink tables and plush stool seating. This accommodated our small group perfectly, and we could easily chat in a laid back parlor atmosphere while drinking pints and enjoying the not-too-loud jazzy mix being played. The lower level offered more bar seating/tables, and a walk past the concession counter showed light dining fare like quiche (melty and gooey, looked pretty tasty to me). As far as unique picturehouses go, I really enjoyed this one's set up and vibe, and love that it facilitates chatting/drinks before or after seeing a film, how it should be.

Yelp
Best way to see the pictures. Often more obscure choices which is a pleasant change from majors - downsides are a smallish screen and overpriced food / beverage.

Yelp
How to watch film in style...comfortable. Great alternative to the rex in Berkhampstead (if you've not been there book and go!)...
