Excellence Coral Playa Mujeres

I’ve been to all of the Excellence resorts and rarely review but the entitled child who wanted more than they paid for pushed me to this. We always do Excellence Club for the extra restaurants, beach space, and little perks. We have those and they are worth it! I don’t need more than I paid for because I got what I paid for. This place is beautiful with far less issues than I expected for the opening week (some parts of the app aren’t working and some requests take longer than other places but it’s fine). Very clean and modern while still having some traditional Mexican flair. If your 80 followers are impressed by how snarky you can be in an effort to get free things, you need better people in your life. This place is borderline perfect. Enjoy!

Jullybed and Anni and Kenneth are fabulous here at the excellence. The above review I did was only because they pressured us to give them a review after bringing a cute valentines towel with sand art. Don't get me wrong it was sweet and they were accommodating on the beach for a couple hours but they asked us to open our phones and give them the review right there. The serving staff were very kind but the management did not deal with major problems well AT ALL. Our air-conditioning was out 2 nights out of the 4. They would try to fix it during the day (which meant crews in our rooms for hours at a time). When we returned to our rooms after the day it would be cool but... after a couple hours it would completely go out again. We would call to the front desk again and they would send another crew while we were out for the evening only to return to Heat with NO update from management. Disappointed that only some of the restaurants were open, the theater where the shows are usually was also not open, the app (which is how you see meal menus and other activities) was not working. Lots of problems with the resort :( We love Excellence resorts and have been multiple times but this was not The Excellence experience :(. Also, we paid a lot of extra $$$$ to be "Excellence Club Members" and EVERYONE at the resort got Club upgrades and we were not offered a discount for the extra we paid. I wish they had try to offer us a voucher for a reasonable amount to use at another stay but they did not. They did offered a voucher (To ALL the guests) for upgrades for their next stay but when you read the fine lines it really doesn't include anything. Unfortunately this trip was disappointing in general, this was my 30th wedding Anniversary Trip and my Husbands Birthday during our stay.

The resort itself was truly beautiful. Since it had only been open for two weeks when we visited, I expected some hiccups. We booked a couples massage, and while the massage itself was wonderful, the experience was disrupted by loud construction noise—jackhammering and drilling—because parts of the hotel were still under construction. Thankfully, the spa staff felt bad about the situation and offered us a redo by the beach, which I really appreciated. The staff throughout the resort were incredibly kind and hardworking. One of the highlights of our stay was visiting the speakeasy—we absolutely loved it. The restaurants were also stunning, though they were still working out some service issues. The food took a long time to arrive, and our table received dishes at different times. That said, the atmosphere was so great that it didn’t bother me much. The biggest issue came at the end of our trip. We loved the resort so much that we decided to extend our stay by one more night. The Excellence concierge assured us we could come back the next morning to book the extra night, so we went ahead and changed our flights. But when we returned, no one could figure out how to extend our stay. We spent the entire morning in the lobby while the staff kept insisting they were fully booked—despite the hotel appearing nearly empty. Eventually, they found a room, but they wanted to charge us $2,200 when the woman the night before had quoted $800. It was a complete mess. Frustrated, we ended up rebooking our original flight and rushing to the airport. It was a disappointing and stressful way to end an otherwise wonderful trip. Despite this, I would still return next year. By then, I expect they will have worked out these issues. However, I won’t make the mistake of trying to extend my trip again—clearly, they weren’t equipped to handle last-minute changes.

People are really nice. Service was so slow - basically an hour from when you sit down to get your first bite of food. I don't know how anyone can give 5 stars as a review unless they are paid. Simply not ready to open, very few restaurants open, and many items not on the menu. Basically carrot cake for desert or the highway. Steaks were paper thin and overcooked. I've been to all of their resorts and this way an awful experience. Strongly suggest waiting 6 months and watch if the reviews change. Otherwise buyer beware!

This resort is a dream. I absolutely loved the beach concierge staff ~ Ambar, Ixchel, and Jellybed were so friendly and accommodating. Each day they prepared our beach chairs with fresh towels and made sure we had everything we needed. The towel art made with sand was lovely! Pedro and Fernando, our beach bartenders, were delightful. Multiple days of a variety of refreshments provided by them throughout the day. Heavenly. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the spa. The hydrotherapy was incredibly refreshing and relaxing, and Jorge was terrific. The restaurants were plentiful and the food was delicious. We particularly enjoyed our servers Victor, Ezequiel, Luis, Rebeca, Ismael, and Frederico - they were fantastic. We had a slight room snag and Nelson, one of the managers, went above and beyond to remedy the issue and make sure we were accommodated. The resort atmosphere was sophisticated yet relaxed at the same time. Truly a perfect vacation.

Original Review, left 5 Stars Jullybed, Anni and Kenneth are awesome! They are so friendly, provide great service come see them at the Excellence Coral!!! I am editing my post... After providing sand/towel art for us to take a picture. Jullybed and her friends asked us to leave a review. It seemed odd at the time, but we had several margaritas in us and complied with the request. After looking at several of the reviews, it appears that several others had a similar situation. Most of the service staff were very friendly and helpful, most had only been on the job for a week. Please Note...this place should never have been opened. We had two other couples with us and one of the couples was moved (3) three times for various construction issues from air conditioning to water leaking above the ceiling and flooding the bathroom. We had our own air conditioning issues, they would fix it for several hours then it would go out again. We finally were moved after several days with no air conditioning. I would say that there were at least (3) three of the restaurants not open. The food was good, but not great! There were always people at the front desk complaining about different problems. They did move some folks, however that's a pain in the butt, then after you move, you have whole other set of problems. If you paid for "Club" you weren't special because everyone was considered a "Club" member whether you paid for it or not. Clearly a Rip Off! There were a lot of Excellence Executives around, meeting, pointing, etc. How they could not see that the resort was not ready for occupancy is beyond my comprehension. One afternoon we went to get a burger, after close to an hour we finally got it. However the two tables of Excellence Executives had already had every item on the menu. Um, whose paying the bills here? Again, this place was not ready for occupancy. They need another 6 months at least to get ready for guests. I would not go anytime soon, keep an eye on the reviews. When you read good feedback, book your stay. It is beautiful!!! They did offer a concession at the end of the day...a free upgrade on your next stay with a long list of exclusions and an expiration date. We always enjoy Excellence and will return, just trying to save others a little aggravation if possible. Best of luck!

Vicente is our concierge on the beach and Jullybed has done extra for our anniversary! Fernando is bringing drinks before we’re halfway finished with our current one. The resort is beyond excellent..every single detail has been covered from food, drinks, entertainment, room and service. The grounds are unbelievable, clean, photos don’t even begin to showcase the beauty of this place. Walking around feels like you’re in a magazine shoot, the decor & lighting are gorgeous. A vacation must!!

Another beautiful property by Excellence! I loved the different culinary experiences at the restaurants. I think that’s what makes it so special. At Agave you get to choose a 4 course meal that fits the part of Mexico that you choose. There was also a mariachi band which was very fun. At Kanpai, we did the hibachi. The food was delicious and it was fun to watch the cook. Milo is beautiful and you get to try all the different dips with pita bread. Raices offers a 9 course meal that is quite the experience! All of it was so good and even with it being such a large resort, there is so much attention to detail that I really appreciate. Waiters by the pool and at the restaurants were so wonderful and helpful. I can’t wait to be back!
