The historic neighborhood is easily the city’s most charming thanks to its medieval maze of traditional pastel-hued houses, and it’s also one of the most convenient for sightseeing, with major sights such as the Sé de Porto, the Torre dos Clérigos, the Church of São Francisco, and Livraria Lello all within a 15-minute walk away from the hotel. "You can tell from the deliberate full stop after the name ("Exmo.") that this place takes its design details seriously. The ochre-coloured 14th century heritage building has been stunningly renovated - think exposed stone blocks, burnished leather headboards and a maze of industrial-chic piping - by the same team that brought 1872 River House to the top of our Porto list. Exmo had only just opened when we visited in 2020, but guest feedback is glowing, and all the signs are that it is every bit the equal of its riverside sibling. Located in a vibrant neighbourhood a couple of blocks above the Douro river - which is visible from many of the windows and balconies - it's within easy walking distance of the Luis I bridge, the Bishops Palace and most other key attractions. You can walk pretty much anywhere from here. Inside, we were wowed by the artworks and sculptures by local artists (the owners dream of running an art gallery within the hotel), not to mention the beautifully sculpted spiral staircase, the concrete-slabbed bar and the huge iron-cased windows. Once a warehouse, then a bank, this latest incarnation as a buzzy boutique hotel will deservedly bring life and love back into a venerable building. The hotel is neat, cozy and in a convenient location. It is right by Douro River, and you can watch nice sunset and walk to the restaurants and bars along the river in less than 2 minutes. The hotel staff are super friendly and made me feel like home. The hotel has cute Christmas decorations during the time of my stay (early December), and the room is clean and well furnished. I love the fact that the bed is high, huge and comfortable, with soft but thick pillows that supported my neck and helped me sleep really well. The bathroom floor has heated tiles so my feet felt nice and warm stepping on it despite the cold weather. I also enjoyed opening the window and watching the busy streets with a cup of hot tea (my room had the city instead of the river view as the river ones were fully booked), which was one of the most memorable moments during my stay in Porto. The hotel breakfast was fantastic! They even had açai juice! They offered a wide selection of foods: yogurt, cheeses, fruits, pastries and bread, and you can order bacon and eggs from the kitchen (btw the scrambled eggs were delicious)! The breakfast wasn’t as lavish as the fancy hotel ones and this is exactly what I liked about, as the right amount of foods and the cleanliness have made me feel the staff have poured in their hearts into every single detail. The hotel almost felt like home to me, I would definitely choose the same hotel if I go to Porto again.

Absolutely fantastic location for our stay. We got a room with a river view and it didn't disappoint. We found a lovely note waiting for us inside the room. The hospitality from staff was so warm and welcoming. We asked for recommendations and they delivered. With luggage and wanting an easy departure, we opted for the 35 euro ride to the airport. The driver showed up in a Mercedes and there were bottled waters waiting for us inside the clean vehicle. The included breakfast was nice and a great way to start off our days. I knocked a star off for the room simply because it was showing signs of wear in the shower. The faucet choice for the sink was too long and impeded washing your face. The bathroom fan was one of those natural air vents and not an actual fan that sucked air out so bathroom activities lingered in the room which was off-putting. Would we stay here next time we're in Porto? Absolutely. This is definitely where we'd stay again. Thank you to the entire team at Exmo for allowing us to have such a memorable trip and stay. Hope to visit again soon ♥️

We decided on this hotel following looking at many other hotels n Porto and decided on choosing Hotel Exmo due to the location, and the mininalist interior. Staff cant do enough for you, every single staff member are friendly, helpful always smiling and it has a really cosy amd warm feel. The rooms are comfortable, clean and spacious and we had a fab view of the square and the palace and is a short walk to the Liverello Lello bookshop, the all of the other famous historical sites Porto has to offer. The breakfast is lovely and perfect to start the day. If you dont like street noise this isnt for you but you can also have a river view at the back if you dont want rpad noise and the Douro river walk is a 2 minute walk. It's perfect for all the lovely bars and resturants along the river. So many to choose from and we can't wait to cone back and stay agaun if they will have us.

This hotel was a 10/10 all around. All of the staff were extremely friendly (when checking in, at breakfast each morning, and every time we would be coming or going). The hotel is spotless. The room was super spacious and clean. Everything felt new and fresh (bed was also comfortable and the shower had great shower pressure). As women traveling alone, we felt very safe. The breakfast each morning was exceptional (as was the coffee). Would 100% return to this hotel if we come back to Porto. It was also in the perfect location (close to the river, good restaurants, and all of the sights).

We had a wonderful stay at Exmo Hotel Porto! The hotel is very stylish and modern, with a friendly and welcoming staff. The location is perfect, right in the centre, but just off the busiest areas, making it easy to explore without the crowds. Breakfast was outstanding, with a great selection of fresh and delicious options. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Porto!

Such a beautiful place to stay. The room was perfect, overlooking the Palacio da Bolsa. Breakfast was modest but yum. The guys at reception bent over backwards to make sure our stay was enjoyable and that we had everything we needed. So lovely. We’d definitely stay again when visiting Porto. Thank you!

I arrived a little early and they were happy to allow me into the room with the offer of a welcome drink. Room minimalist but top notch fit out with everything you need. Room was for 1 but they provided two towels (increasingly a rarity) and the toiletries were a local brand in a more feminine scent - another rarity where many mainstream hotels provide more masculine scents. A light breakfast was included. Perfect spot by the river.

My husband and I stayed at the Exmo Hotel for 2 nights in their "Premium Room with Balcony and River View" which is their penthouse suite. The room was modern and clean and the view from the balcony was amazing. ||The hotel staff were wonderful - super friendly and helpful. They helped us with a few dinner reservations before we arrived. The service at breakfast was great with lots of variety.||You can beat the location ... easy walk to the river promenade (Ribeira do Porto) and to Vila Nova de Gaia, and around 10-15 mins uphill to the other Porto tourist sights.||We would definitely come back to this hotel again in the future.
